It's not static electricity. It's a badly grounded outlet. It's harmless. Try plugging your charger into a different outlet or into a surge protector.

  • Frequent static electricity from my iPhone 6

I kept getting static electricity from my iPhone 6, just holding it on its own (ie not whilst charging the battery) as I type my texts or browsing the Internet. It hasn't got a casing on. Is this normal? It's happening quite frequently, and it's quite disturbing.

    HI
I contacted Apple & did as below as advised & I got my contacts back.
Before I started I made sure that I had  a Icloud backup for my IPhone ( which was before the problem started ).[ Settings > ICloud > Backup. ]
IPhone reset - by 'Erase all contents & settings...
after the phone starts, choose to restore from Icloud backup.. & choose the Backup you think is without the issue.
VERY IMPORTANT.. Once the phone restores from the backup & the Home screen comes, put the phone in Airplane mode Immediately.
Now go to settings > Icloud > put the contacts OFF. ( Keep the contacts )
Now OFF the Airplane mode & go to settings > Icloud > put the contacts ON & select Merge.
I got all my contacts back which was there until that Backup.
    Thanks again  - Apple support.

  • While charging iphone with usb adapter supplied with the phone power line gets blown up ?

While charging my IPHONE 4S with the USB adapter supplied along with iphone the power line gets blown up every time  and I am left only with the option to recharge through the USB port of my laptom.Any remedy?

Have you tried other outlets? That may be an electrical problem in your house, worse case scenario. Try other USB wall adapters.

  • Weird touchscreen response while charging iPhone 4.?

    Hi,
I used to charge my iPhone 4 via USB Chord using my laptop only. But recently I shifted to charging it through the power adaptor which comes along the Apple iPhone 4. But during charging, my touchscreen acts weirdly, I touch somthing and some other app opens.. I cant even unlock it during charging..
I am using the Official Apple Power Adaptor and the Official Apple iPhone 4 USB Chord which comes inside the box along with Apple iPhone 4.
I even tried charging my iPhone 4 with Official Apple Power Adaptor BUT WITH the USB Chord of Apple iPod Classic also. But the problem still persists..
I have tried charging my iPhone with its cover on and even without its cover on.. But no relief..
    Please help me out.
    Thanks in advance.

I am having the same issue on my iPhone 4S.  While charging, the touch screen will perform wildly inaccurately.  I will touch one spot on the screen and an entirely different section of the screen will react.
I bought this in to the apple store and got my phone replaced under warranty.
Still, my new phone is having the exact same problem.  This is incredibly frustrating, especially b/c I try not to charge my battery until it is very low (as you should with LI batteries).  This often means I'm charging my phone during the work day and cannot use it b/c of the screen issue.
Could it be a software issue since I am experiencing this on two different phones?

  • WIFI Disconnecting while Charging iPhone 4S

I charge my iPhone everynight while I sleep.  I have it plugged into the wall.  When I open my phone in the morning I check my data manager and most mornings it's already used 2-10mb of data.  Not good when I only have 300mb for the month.  When I first open my phone, it has the 4G icon at the top until I unlock it then the WIFI re-connects.  Why is my WIFI not staying connected while it's charging and what is it doing to use that data?  I have tried killing all my apps, turning off backups and syncs, data pushes and everything, but it's still using data for something.  I even turned off the Cellular Data one night and it still had used 3mb of data!  Any thoughts?  I've had this problem before and after iOS 6 update.

Reset the device - no data loss incurred
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
Also try a different charger and a different electrical outlet for good measure
If it is still happening - then you may be looking at taking the device to an Apple store or authorized repair store

Usually this small tingling appears due to contact electricity using 2pin AC adaptor,
Using an *3pin* AC adaptor should eliminate such tingling issue

  • Static electric on the new iPad when charging

When I'm charging the new iPad, touching on the back cover will give static electric. Would it damage the device in long run?

Was gifted an Ipad missing an AC Adapter and cable. Bought new cable and adapter. Made the mistake of buying and using a 5 Volt adapter. Made the mistake of using the Ipad when it was being charged (plugged into the electric outlet). Made the mistake of returning and picking up the Ipad after walking across a rug. Blew out that 5 Volt adapter which no longer would charge another suitable (5 Volt correct) device. Bought 10 Volt adapter which would not charge my Ipad as well.
iOS devices charge of USB specification that means 5 Volts ONLY.
A 10 Volt charger would damage the device.
I believe you are confusing Watts & Volts.
Many USB chargers have a higher amperage (that means they can supply more current, not Volts). That translates to more Watts (overall power output).
It allows iPads to charge faster because they have more battery to fill.
The standard iPad charger is 10Watts (the spec isn't visible on Apple.com, so this is from external sources).
iPhones usually have chargers that supply 5Watts
    The safest option…
Use an Apple charger that is rated for the device… as you can see Apple sell 5 Watt & 12 Watt supplies for iPads
http://store.apple.com/us/ipad/ipad-accessories/power (search for iPhone chargers etc).
None of this helps you speedgo, sorry. I don't know if static could cause issues. I would move it to another wall outlet, try other rooms - if it still happens take it to an Apple store & ask them for advice it may also happen at the store if the device or charger is faulty.

  • Electric Current Felt While Charging

Hi, I just bought my Macbook Pro from the online store about two weeks ago. Whenever my Mac is charging and I'm using it, I have to stay away from touching either side of the body (parallel to where the battery indicator light is) because I will literally feel *shocks of electricity*.
My housemate who has a Macbook Pro as well does not have this problem so the issue is not with the power sockets in the house.
Isn't this pretty dangerous and NOT supposed to happen? What could be the problem?

i think this problem affects all models, but only more evident/obvious to some ppl. I think all macbooks come with
    a. magsafe adapater (the white brick with 2 pins)
    b. 3 pins converter which connects directing to magsafe
    c. a power cord (long wire) with 3 pins socket head
After a few days of researching, i think there are only 3 things we can do:
    1. Return/exchange, depending on the policy of the store you purchased from. However, i went back to the store which i bought my 13" mbp to try on other models. Only the 17" mbp is free from the current/wave/tingly feel while charging.
    2. Charge only using item "c" connected to your brick. Apparently this will provide more grounding, compared with using "a" or "a+b". many tried and it worked.
    3. Apple Care asked me to try doing the following:
    i. make sure your mbp and any power supply connected is off
ii. hold down "shift" + "option" + "control" + power button simultaneously for 2 secconds and release
iii. turn on power to try again
Item 3 is to reset the circuitry if you have connected ur iphone to the mbp. This may help those who feels the shock while charging the phone through mbp. It will not help those who feel current/wave on the mbp body.
And i mentioned in the beginning, this current/wave should affect all macbooks. Try charging macbook on your friend’s laps, you should be able to feel the wave through his/her body too.
    Hope this post can help.

  • Iphone 6 plus fingerprint is not working while charging

My iphone 6 plus fingerprint scan is not working while charging. Is this normal?
I tried my iphone 5s and it works just fine even while charging.

I think I got an answer to my own question
If you're using generic lightning cable (non-original lighting cable), the fingerprint scan doesn't work while charging.
I just find it weird as my iphone 5s works even if i'm not using the original lightning cable though.
