Static heard through headphones

On the iPhone 5, with headphones, you can hear a slight static click just before a sound it initiated-keyboard opens, music starts playing, etc. If you are on contacts and click the keypad tab(switch between keypad and contact tabs is very evident) it also happens. You can also hear it quite well from the going from the home screen to spotlight search and back-of course mute has to be off and keyboard clicks have to be enabled.
Tried 3 different iPhone 5s, all there. 6 different headphones, all there. 4S has it but much less pronounced. Seems to be the audio amplifier turning on/off. I would have thought they could have eliminated the static popping noise a bit better.

I guess this might happen on some Macbooks also.

Sound heard through headphones, but not with internal speakers

Recently, my computer stopped producing sound from the speakers. However, I plug in headphones and everything can be heard. I've already checked Sound in System Preferences. Nothing is muted and all sliders are in the correct position. In the Output Pane, my only option for the output source is headphones, no internal speakers. What happened? What should I do?

I recently got the same problem. Its not that bad but confused me at first. If that is the worst problem you get with your computer consider yourself lucky. You could bring it by an apple store genius and see what they say but its most likely a switch problem like tteuer said. If my memory serves me right that switch is connected to the logic board, if you have it still under warranty, great, if not, you might as well get another laptop if it really bothers you.
Tip: I have made it work by either slowly removing the headphone from the jack or rotating it. If that did not work the first time I repeated it.

Static through headphones after ipod turned off (1.1 software Update)

I know this can't just be me... Anyone else experiencing terrible static coming through the ipod after it is turned off? I never heard this until after the 1.1 software "update" with the new iTunes and the MacWorld conference... Anybody have the link to the ipod feedback page? The only one I can find doesn't even have the 1.1 software listed as an option to leave feedback about (it only has 1.0.3 from before the 1.1 update as the most current software listed).

It seems the only two solutions are to live with the white noise and wait for the next firmware update, or do downgrade to the previous version of the firmware (if you still have the files on your computer). Check this post for instructions on downgrading iPod firmware using a Mac.

Music sounds static when played through headphones or speakers

i have had my ipod for a while now and it worked fine. However whenever i play through headphones or speakers the music goes to what sounds like static, i would like to know how to fix this problem and if i cant how much will it cost to have apple fix it for me.

Update - I've isolated this (I think) to be something that happens when Microsoft Outlook for Mac 2011 is open. Exiting the app stops the noise.
But still con't find out why it happens or any setting to stop it.

Mixing bass loud enough to be heard through MacBook speakers

I can never seem to get my bass tracks loud enough (within the context of my all my mixing) to be heard through my MacBook speakers. The bass (recorded with a jazz bass) sounds fine w/ headphones, in the car as well as through studio monitors. I know MacBook -- and laptop speakers in general -- are considered terrible for music listening, but let's be honest: it's the most common method.
I listen to other recordings by other bands and you can hear their bass OK this way. Why not w/ my recordings?

I know this thread is a little old, but I've had the same problems in the past and have found a plugin for mixing that at least partially solves this exact problem. It's called Waves RBass and you can find it at http://www.waves.com/Content.aspx?id=194. What this does is basically crank up the harmonics, instead of the fundamental tone. You can read more about it in the manual at http://www.waves.com/manuals/plugins/RBass.pdf (Chapter 1, under "What is the secret?"). Just thought I'd share it, in case someone else has the same issues.

I had the same problem. I took the phone to the local tech shop and they replaced a fried headphone flex cable. Cost me $70.

Startup Sound Only Heard in Headphone

Startup sound only heard in headphone since i changed startup sound through StartupSoundChanger software. And I have tried to restore startup sound, contact with software developer, and reinstall audio driver but nothing change. Anyone could help me?

If you checked other windows startup sound in sound Tab, We would appreciate it if you could share with us some update.
Does other sound/windows startup sound work properly with speaker?
Did you check your issue under new account?
If you are using an internal/external speaker, does your headphone/speaker have driver installed.
Check your issue under clean boot mode

Static coming through computer line out, PLEK500

I have three of these working just fine, in this configuration:
#1 tied to cable modem
#2 tied to ethernet port of a macbook pro
#3 tied to a Roku box
#4 is meant to serve the Ethernet port on the Mac Pro tower in my home office. Unfortunately, upon installing it I get a huge amount of audio static coming through the Line Out jack on the computer, or the speakers if not using the Line Out (which I connect to a stereo receiver). The static correlates clearly to network load; if I run a test on speedtest.net, pushing a big amount of data up and down, the static is nearly continuous. If I'm just working locally on the word processor it's intermittent. So something is interacting between the Ethernet connection and the other electronics of the computer.
What is going on here? I can't use it like this.

I would suggest you try using another Ethernet cord for isolation. Make sure as well that the Powerline's firmware is upto date for better performance.

How can I play Premiere Pro through headphones on a Mac?

I'm using Premiere Pro CS6 on a Mac running OS X 10.9.4 on a Mac Pro (the silver tower version, not the newest one). Premiere plays fine though the system speakers. However I can't get it to play through headphones, plugged into the tower. I've selected headphones in System Preferences and the headphones work fine with applications like iTunes. However, there doesn't seem to be anything I can find in Premiere's preferences to set audio output to headphones, as the playback continues to be through the computer speakers. I've seen others post with this issue, but I have found no solutions. Any ideas how to fix this?

I am writing unit test cases for an action class. The method which i want to test calls one static method of a helper class. Though I create mock of that helper class, but I am not able to call the static methods through the mock object as the methods are static. So the control of my test case goes to that static method and again that static method calls two or more different static methods. So by this I am testing the entire flow instead of testing the unit of code of the action class. So it can't be called as unit test ?
Can any one suggest me that how can I call static methods through mock objects.

The OP's problem is that the object under test calls a static method of a helper class, for which he wants to provide a mock class
Hence, he must break the code under test to call the mock class instead of the regular helper class (because static methods are not polymorphic)

Mobile video only playing through headphones from 5D MKIII .MOV mp4 conversion

I have not run into something like this before and hope that someone has...
I have been capturing video with a 5D MKIII for a while now and create videos for work and upload to YouTube and mobile platforms. Someone recently told me that through the YouTube app, these videos (this one for example: Hail Recovery in V12 Corn - YouTube) will play fine on computer browsers and on a mobile device through headphones. When you try to play through the YouTube app without headphones, this video will play only garbled sound and very quietly.
I have traced the problem to the 5D MKIII video capture, as capture with a canon XF105 doesn't have the issue (after AME conversion to mp4) on upload or playing directly from a mobile device or streaming from something like Dropbox.
I'm not sure what to check now. I have tried almost every conceivable export choice and setting through AME CC2014 (and tried CC as well). I have tried this through my laptop and another machine on the same software set. I have tried exporting just the MP3 and listening via dropbox (same issue - sound garbled and quiet). I have tried W/O Quicktime installed on machine (thinking there might be an issue with the AME QT and the local QT. I have tried taking the .MOV file direct from the camera and creating a .AVI and MXF file and then used those in editing and export to MP4. None of these things have changed the outcome.
The things I know are:
- only happens from DSLR not other captures (like XF105)
- only happens to sound trying to come through mobile device speaker (works with headphones) - I have checked the various 'mute' settings on all mobile devices i've used and this isn't the issue. I have tried Samsung, iPhone and iPad all with the same result
- audio plays normally through computer browsers and through mobile device headphones
If anyone has had this experience please let me know. This is very problematic as we have transitioned to using DSLR for most video now. It seems to be something with streaming but it also happens when I take the file (from the camera > mp4 or after editing in Premiere/AE > mp4) and play direct from the device. It must be something with the conversion from .MOV to mp4 but what?

Sound distortion of everything through headphones

I recently upgraded my 3GS to IOS 5.1, and now everything through headphones sounds really distorted, i've found loads of answers saying check your itunes files and such, but it's not just my music, I tried Youtube and games through my headphones, and they all sound the same, they're all really badly distorted.
Can anyone help with this? It's really irritating.

Go step by step and test.
1. System Preference > Sound > Output > Internal Speakers
    Highlight Internal Speakers / Headphones
    Make sure that Mute is not enabled.
2.Plug in and remove the headphone.
    If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
    in and out of the port 5 or 6 times to flip the microswitch inside.
    Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.
3. Reset PRAM. http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405
4. Reset SMC.     http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    Choose the method for:
    "Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
5. Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup
    Audio Devices window
    Side Bar
    Click the Built-in Output.
    Under Mute any of the boxes checked? If so, uncheck it.
