Static in speakers

I am having lots of static and "clicking" on my PC speakers at high volumes. I have the Intrigue 2.1 3300. You can hear the static on Windows Media and I-Tunes. You can only occasionally hear it over the music but as soon as the song stops, the static starts. Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks in advance for any help.

Test your speakers with a different audio source such as a portable CD player. Replace the cable connected to your sound card, and connect it to the test source such as a portable CD player or portable MP3 player. See if this problem lies on the speaker or sound card.

  • Satellite A355-S6879 Static in speakers

My Satellite laptop is about 1 year old. I have about 3 weeks left of warranty on it. About 1 month ago, I could hear an annoying static-like, crackling sound coming out of the speakers. I took it to an authorized repair facility close to my home and they said they reseated the speaker harness and updated BIOS. Got it back next day, the sound was still there. I took it back to them and the technician at the front desk heard what I was talking about. He said it will need a motherboard and new speakers. They ordered the parts and I took it back to them the following day.
About an hour and a half later, they called me and said it was ready. I thought an hour and a half was kind of quick to do what they said, but anyway...I got it home, tried it for a few minutes and the crackling sound is still there. I called them back and they suggested I should call Toshiba Tech support, which I did, and tech support says to send
the laptop to the repair depot. Tech support says that if repair facility replaced a motherboard and speakers, then I shouldn't be having any problem. So the obvious question -- Why am I still having problems? I don't think it's fair that I have to send the laptop halfway across the country for an obvious problem, a problem that the repair depot will likely hear and then say, the product is fine. How can I be sure that the authorized repair facility even did anything to it at all? I don't know if anyone else is having the same problem and getting the same runaround with warranty service.

I have a M-105 satellite , about 3yrs old and the sound of late is lightly crackly as well. In addition it sounds gargly.I am curious as to what the problem might be...I made a post regarding this....cheers and good luck

  • M-Audio Revolution 7.1 PCI Static in speakers

I have a Blue and White Power Mac G3 with the DayStar 600 mhz G4 processor upgrade, M-Audio Revolution 7.1 surroundsound PCI card and Creative Labs Inspire 7.1 surroundsound speakers and I'm running OS X 10.4.4. My speakers sound fine in stereo only mode but the minute I turn on the surroundsound I get this nasty cracking type of static in the speakers. The surroundsound works and they sound good inbetween the cracking but the cracking just won't go away. I've had these speakers and sound card and processor for about a year or so now and they've been doing this the whole time. I download every driver update that comes along hoping that each one will be the one that fixes the problem but no such luck. Has anybody else out there had this problem? Or had this configuration with no problem? Or better yet, had the problem and found the solution?

Information taken from M-audio's site about Mac Reqs:

    Minimum Required (for multi-channel operation)
    • Apple Macintosh® G4* 733MHz QS
    • Mac OS 9.2.2 or later; Mac OS X version 10.2.6 or later

    • DVD-ROM drive
    • Mac OS X version 10.3 or later (Apple DVD Player required or AC-3 or DTS)
    • 512MB RAM
*CPU Accelerator cards are not supported
I dont think the Card will fully work with your Machine, because of your BWG3's specs.
Reading the basic info, for Multi-Channel Operation aka Surround Sound you comptuer is not at Spec as it states it requires 733MHz G4 QS min, 800MHz G4 QS recommended.

  • Audigy 2 - loud hiss/static over speakers. No other sound can be he

So I had a power outage tonight and so I had to reset the CMOS on my computer. So I did that, reset all my settings and then when I got into Windows, instead of having sound I get this loud and constant hissing/static from my speakers. I've tried reseating the sound card and trying another PCI slot but to no avail. So I uninstalled my drivers, used Driver cleaner, reinstalled drivers and I still get the same static.
The card is an Audigy 2 ZS, speakers are Logitech Z-5500 in analog mode. Is there a problem with my sound card or could it be software related?

Well because my surge protector kicked in and so did my PSU so I had to reset the CMOS in order for my computer to turn on.
And I'm pretty sure its not the CMOS options.
The funny thing is all my audio software detects the card and so does the drivers and I even pass all the diagnostic tests. But I still only get static.

  • Loud static on speakers which disappear when I mute Plugin Container for Firefox on Volume Mixer

When I started my laptop this problem appeared. There is no static when I mute the speakers on Volume Mixer, which mutes Speakers, Windows Sounds and Plugin Container for Firefox.
When I only mute Plugin Container for Firefox it also silences the static.
    Could the problem be here?

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!  JohnWhite,
I understand that your speakers on your HP Pavilion g7-2325dx Notebook PC continues to emit sound when you plug your headphones in and that you got an error stating "audio device isn't set as default". I will try my best to help you with this.
    Try the following steps.
    1. Click Start
    2. Go to Control Panel
    3. Select "Hardware and Sound"
    4. Select "Sound"
    5. Right click the box and choose "Show Disabled Devices"
    6. Make sure that your audio device is enabled for your notebook. It should have a green check mark.
    7. Then in your Audio system under the Enhancements tab, check the box for "disable all enhancments".
If this does not resolve your issue, then I suggest reinstalling the audio software and driver Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 8).
I hope this information helps, please let me know how it goes.
Take care and have a great day!

  • Lots of static through speakers

I did a search and couldn't find my question posed anywhere.  I have a MS-6340 board and I have used several types of new speakers to verify that the problem doesn't lie in the speakers.  I have installed a sound card and that doesn't make a difference either.  On-board sound and sound through the soundcard each result in tremendous amounts of static.  Is there something that can be done about this?  Anyone had a similar experience?  This motherboard was bought new and I use this system mainly for myself and daughter for surfing a light gaming.  Static free sound would be a major plus.
I see in a post that "Stand-off's" could have something to do with this.  I would like to be enlightened about how this could be an effect on the sound.
    Mainboard Manufacturer -  MSI
    Mainboard Model Name -  MS-6340
    Mainboard BIOS Vendor -  Award
    Mainboard BIOS Version -  2.90
So far I have been far from impressed with this mb. :(
    TIA

Although if you are electrically minded you could also make little links that mount under each of the earthing points and then screw these to the chassis.
Just a thought. May not be your problem.
I sincerely hope this isn't it.  My vendor sold them both to me and I would hope there wouldn't be a conflict.  If wonkaboy's suggestion isn't it, I will go back to the vendor and troubleshoot with them with your info.  Thanks.

  • Static from speakers

This started recently. When I visit a site that has video, ads or otherwise, I start getting static from the speakers. The static persists even if I turn off the sound. It stops, when I leave the sites or close Safari. For example I just visited a newspapers home page and the static started. It stopped when I came here.

Doesn't do it in iTunes. Pretty much when I navigate to various sites that contain video. I leave said site the static winds down. Sometimes the static is pronounced, other times it's low. I ran a video on the apple site and there was some hissing. On other sites it's very loud.

  • Static from speakers on 18mth old IMAC

As above I am getting static from my speakers, suddenly started today after i installed spotify, i have removed this and it is still there, also affects itunes. Silent until I try to play music (not tried vieos etc yet)
Can I solve this with an update?
    Thanks
    Suzy

Try using another user account on your computer (make a quick test account if you don't already have a separate one). See if the static/fuzzy noises are still present.
If the separate account sounds fine, there may still be some Spotify files laying around that are casuing an issue.
You are sure that is issue wasn't present prior to Spotify install, right?

  • Static on speakers when using wifi

I've got a Mac Mini with some Altec Lansing speakers.  The Speakers are connected to the Mini mini-jack out (headphone).  The system uses Airport to get to the internet.
Anytime there is any network (WiFi) connectivity the speakers produce a bunch of crackles and static.  Which, unfortunately, is constant.
I've tried messing with the cable routing for the speaker's input cable and even tried ferrite beads on the speaker's input cable as well.  The problem persists and is super, super annoying.
I'm ready to tear my hair out!  Any ideas?

WiFi speakers never work as good as the manufacture says, return them and get a good 50 to $100 wired 2.1 speakers system from Logitech or Creative.

  • Lenovo x201 Audio Popping/Buzzing/Stuttering

Okay. I'm at my wits end. This has been going on for about a year now. I've learned to ignore it, but now that I really want to use my laptop for music, it is getting annoying. There are times when playing audio that the quality starts to degrade. The audio starts to "drop" intermittently and then there's a harsh static that smooths out to an intermittant pop and then the audio drops out again as if a CD is skipping then the static. Speakers are fine because I send the audio to other devices and get the same result. When the audio device is "upset", even system sounds have static.
I haven't been able to play a song all the way through without audio dropping or static for a while now. All of my drivers are up to date (why hasn't Lenovo updated the audio drviers since 2011?). My BIOS is up to date. Windows is up to date. Night mode is off. I've read all the fixes. So far, my issue is not fixed. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Any ideas? Is it the audio processor? Or the audio management software?
It is quite frustrating because I put a lof of money into this laptop and can't listen to any music. I have an i7 intel with 8gb of ram and an SSD drive with gigabit ethernet. Latency should never be an issue. I feel I shouldn't have to figure out how to get clear sound out of a $2700 latop.

  • Lost System Restore points on DV6 notebook, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Notebook performance has been poor lately; slow response, static through speakers, etc.  Thought it might have been from some software I downloaded.  Removed software, wanted to run System Restore.  System Restore would not initialize from normal start.  When I went through System Protection to start it, I noticed that all of my restore points were gone.  What do I do?

    Hi,
By saying the proper language, I mean the language showed in the picture. Apologize for confusing description.
Could you please tell which partition that you are trying to backup with? I assume the configure tab is under the Acer(C:) partition,  Where is the
    ACERDATA (D:) partition?
    Reference:
    http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/55/~/why-are-there-two-hard-disk-drives,-acer-(c%3A)-and-acerdata-(d%3A),-on-my-computer%3F
Please take a check with other partitions to see if restore system settings and previous versions of files is available.
If the Acer(C:) is the primary partition, how could it showing not found(your first post) here? Have you made any changes of the partition?

  • Static / Bad Connection for External Bose Speakers?

    Hello Everyone;
I recently bought a new 24" iMac and bought a set of Bose Companion speakers to go with it. I've plugged them into the headphones jack using the cable provided by Bose, but my sound quality is really bad. Theres a lot of static in the music, and by moving the 1/8' male connector that plugs into my iMac around or touching it while music is playing causes more static or sound failure - making me think it may be the connection at the computer. On the other hand, I'm not quite sure if the cable I'm using is an "optical digital audio out port" as described in the Mac manual. I haven't seen an optical digital 1/8" cable, so this is making me think the cable is the problem. The speakers run spdif out to 1/8".
So before I take my mac to have it looked at, does anyone have any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong, or should be doing and or using differently? Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks;
    Steve Masten

    Hi Steve,
I have exactly the same problem with my new iMac and my Bose Companion speakers (the ones with the 2 small cubes and a sub). The Bose speakers do not use a digital audio connection - so using Toslink would not be the answer.
I double-checked the connection on the back of the iMac and found that I was able to push the plug in a little bit more (it sort of clicked into place) - and that definitely helped some. As long as nobody touches it, it runs static-free....but even the slightest touch on the cable (or even the iMac sometimes) results in horrible static.
I'm considering trying another set of speakers because of this issue. I'm calling Bose tech support tomorrow because of this issue to see if they have any suggestions. I'll post back if I get any good info from them.
