Static IP Address not working on windows server

first of all...I am not an IT person so most of this is greek to me...
I got a static IP address from my ISP and loaded it into the TCP/IPv4 for my ethernet ont he server. As soon as I do that I lose internet access. I can ping the static IP address but not the gateway IP.
I have called my ISP and they said all the setting were correct on the modem.
Not sure what to do.

If you have the public on the WAN of the router, you do not need it on the server. The server wants to be a static on the same range as the LAN of the router. If you have the router LAN set as 192.168.1.1 (which is the default of most out there)
you want the IP of the server to be something like 192.168.1.10, with the same subnet mask of the LAN of the router (Usually 255.255.255.0) and the Default Gateway of the server to be the LAN IP of the router (in this example: 192.168.1.1). For DNS,
you probably want to set the LAN IP of the router, as the router should send any requests to the public DNS set by the ISP.
This should get the server back online.

Addon not working on Windows Server 2008 OS

Dear Friends,
I have developed an addon in XP and its working fine with XP operating system but it is not working on Windows Server 2008 Standard. Error is "An Attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.(Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007000B)".

Hi,
Since only Windows 2008 SBS is supported with SAP Business One and that Server is available for 64bit Hardware as defined by Microsoft, I guess you should look into that direction.

I notice the following sentence in the link below “Office Communications Server 2007 R2, Group Chat will not function in a Windows Server 2008 R2 forest or when Group Chat member servers are joined to a Windows Server 2008 R2 domain.
We know of an issue with changes in Windows 2008 R2 that requires a Group Chat Client and Group Chat Admin Tools hotfix. The Group Chat Client and Group Chat Admin Tools hotfixes are currently scheduled for mid-April 2010.”

So in my opinion, if you update to the latest version of Windows Server 2008 R2, OCS Server 2007 R2 and Group Chat Client, Group Chat Admin Tools to the latest version, it should work.
However, the best method for you is make a lab to test the problem firstly.

MFA not working on Windows Server 2012 R2

Been using MFA since PF days. Deployed it successfully many times but for some reason it's not working with Windows Auth, Terminal Services on a Win 2012 R2 DataCenter box? The machine was successfully added to my domain PhoneFactor group, I
can see and add the machine on the master MFA. Services are running but when I remote in I go right through without MFA stopping me? Any ideas?

So they added a whole stack of other functionality, but still didn't get around to taking a look at this bug. I'm stunned. Is there any sort of timeline on fixing this, or is 2012 R2 just going to remain unsupported forever?

Internet Connection not working on Windows Server when static address is set for IPV4

Hi,
We are using Windows server and we have set the static IP address for the machine and when we are trying to access internet, it is not happening.
In case if I change IPV4 property to "Obtain IP address Automatically", the IP is getting changed but we are able to access the internet.
So I want the static IP address to remain as is and also the internet to work.

It might something wrong with the IP addressing you used when you statically set the configuration or traffic from the IP address you used is denied.
As you already have an IP config that works (Run ipconfig /all to get it) then you can simply proceed using one of these ways:
On your DHCP level, do a reservation of the IP address so that it will always be allocated to your server
or on your DHCP level, exclude the IP address of the server and set it manually on the server

BMR/Systemstate backup not working on windows server 2008 error 2147942487

Hi, trying to backup system image using SCDPM 2010 RTM.Most of the server are getting healthy backups except for this one server which is giving error:

Things I have tried:
1. I tried to backup manually to external HDD using wsb snap-in, but it has failed in the same way.
2. Stop and re-add protection.
3. I have researched the error, some results suggest that some bad sectors might exist, however, when I run the command, it forces me to schedule the command on next boot. when I reboot, it loads windows after that gives a message "Cannot open the volume
for direct access"
How to end this loop? please help. Thanks for considering my question ...

Please try clean boot then test how the issue goes. Following are the detailed steps about clean boot:
Log on to the computer by using an account that has administrator rights.
Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER to start the System Configuration Utility.
On the General tab, click Selective Startup, and then click to clear the Load startup items check box. (The Use Original Boot.ini check box is unavailable.)
On the Services tab, click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all.
Click OK, Choose Don’t show this message again and then click Restart.
Please check if RDP session issue is still the same.

Remote video streaming not working with Windows Server Essentials Media Pack

I installed Server Essentials Media Pack and the video streaming via remote access does not seem to be working. I see all the video files on the server's remotewebaccess page in "Media Library" group. When I try to play the video in Chrome
the player appears for a brief moment, but then the browser starts downloading the entire file. With Internet Explorer the empty browser window opens and the download starts. I am trying it while outside of my local network. The video streaming used to work
with Server 2012 Esesentials. Am I missing some additional codecs or remote streaming is no longer supported?

What’s the default player for these media files on your computer? The issue may be caused by the default player could not load the media file correctly. Please make sure Windows Media Player
with full codec installed is the default one. And then check if the media streaming feature could work as normal. Here is an article about how to configure the media streaming feature, hope it helps.

SCORM (flash Player Content) not working on Windows Server 2012 R2 which has IE11 integrated installed on it.

Hi Everyone,
I have website which contains SCORM package, installed on Windows Server 2012 R2 which has IE11 installed on it.
Flash Player is also embedded with IE.
IE Version: 11.0.9600.17278.
Updated Version: 11.0.12 (KB2977629)
When I launch SCORM (flash Player Content) from my application, it is not working. It just displays a blank page however the Title of IE is set to the text from the SCORM content.
However if I access the same URL from any other machine which has previous version of Windows OS (i.e. previous to Windows 8 OS), it is working as expected on IE9, IE10 and IE11.
While trying to find out the cause, I came across some forum which says we have to install the “Desktop Experience” on the server to enable the inbuilt flash player. After doing that also, My SCORM contents are not getting displayed.
To find out more details, I have uploaded the SCORM Package on SCORM Cloud to check if it is working there. Here again the same problem, it doesn’t work and displays
error message saying that “Member is not found” and when I tried to find out the location of the error then it is coming at
Windows.document.myFlash.setVariable(…) method on the Windows Server 2012 R2 with IE11.
When I performed “Addwatch”, it is saying that Windows.document.myFlash doesn’t have setVariable(…) method.
However if access the same cloud URL from other machine (Having OS previous to Windows 8 OS), it is working as expected.
I have attached the screenshot of the error.

I have installed the Instant Client libraries on a machine running Windows Server 2003 in order to connect to a remote Oracle server. I also installed the sqlplus package. I copied them in a local directory, updated the Environment variable PATH and restarted. When I try to execute sqlplus to test if everything works fine, I get the following errors:
sqlplus user/[email protected]:1521/orcl
SP2-1503: Unable to initialize Oracle call interface
SP2-0152: ORACLE may not be functioning properly
Also, when I try to use PHP OCI8 functions like oci_connect() I get an error like:
PHP Warning: oci_connect() [function.oci-connect]: OCIEnvNlsCreate() failed. There is something wrong with your system - please check that PATH includes the directory with Oracle Instant Client libraries
I checked it and the PATH variable points to the instant client libraries.
Any ideas?

The connect string you are trying to use doesn't work for SQLPLUS. SQLPLUS will need proper TNS names configured.
In another words, instanct client libraries installation is not enough to use sqlplus. Use Runtime installation or Customized installation.

Problem Windows 8 logon script not working from windows server 2008 R2

hi there , this is third post regard this problem, here is my problem goes .....
Is a very simple logon script for mapping drive purpose .... PLS take note Domain users can access and run this script for domain users using windows XP / WINDOWS VISTA / WINDOSWS 7 and only users " WINDOWS 8.1 " Does NOT run
at all . the script I put on logon script in Windows server 2008R2 group policy ...

According to your post, the gpresult showed the GPO was applied and the script could run successfullymanully in the client. Right? Please follow the following step to narrow down
the issue:
1. Change the script to the following command: add
> %SystemDrive%\Users\test.txt to the script.
2. Log on to a client with a regular user account, run gpupdate/force, and then re-log on to this client.
3. Check if the test.txtfile exists in this location %SystemDrive%\Users.
If the test.txtfile exists, the GPO with logon script is applied successfully when user logs on. But the result of running logon script achieves the goal we excepted or not which
is still not sure.

.m4a files not 'working' on windows server

Hey kids..
I use GoDaddy.com for my webhosting needs... and i recently switched my site from being hosted on a linux server to a windows one...
when i navigate to my .m4a podcasts now the links don't work, and i receive a 404 error. i know the files are there... they're present in the ftp window... and i know i'm not mistyping the file name becuase i host both and mp3 and m4a with the same file name.
also, if i change the m4a to have an mp4 extension, it works just fine. but if i update my RSS file to reflect the new file name, the iTunes subscriber sees duplicate episodes.
what can i do to keep using my m4a files?
PS> Itunes does not function with the m4a also...

I just spoke with godaddy and they told me "too bad".
Maybe it's time to find a different server?
The only issue now is that existing subscribers are seeing both the m4a and the mp3 episodes. Is there a way in the RSS podcast feed to force the iTunes subscription to clear its episodes and start over? or to only update the episodes if they aren't already downloaded...
Chris, there are two slightly different things here. What shows up in the iTMS is based on your feed. Once you change your feed, the iTMS will show the changes (you may need to ping the iTMS to force it to update).
For users who already subscribed to your feed, and have already downloaded files, what will happen in their iTunes Podcasting window is that all the old files will remain there, and the changed feed will show all the new files as well - but they will be grayed out with a "Get" button next to them.
So each episode will be duplicated in their list, the one they downloaded and a grayed out one which is the new one. iTunes is smart enough to not force a new download of all the new ones (fortunately).
basically hundreds of people are going to see duplicats in my cast and be saying '*** mang?'
Only the ones who already subscribed will see the duplicate listings, and after a while, they'll get used to it - or can hit "delete". The iTMS listing will not show duplicates (unless, of course, you keep duplicates in your feed).

OWC not working on windows server 2008

Hi,
I am moving from Windows 2003 to windows 2008 server.
OWC components are working fine for my applications in windows 2003 where it is failing in windows 2008.
we are getting Authentication issues in the application.
Application is asking for windows login credentials after navigating few screens.
Its failing even after giving credentials also.
Can some one please help us on this.

GPP Delete policy not working on Windows Server 2008 R2 RDS when deleting shared printers with status access denied.

I Have one AD Security group for each shared printer, I have one GPP that map the printer if the user is in the security group that belong to the printer. And one GPP to delete the printer if the user is NOT member of the security group. The security group
is also applied in “Security” tab on the printsrv with PRINT rights and “everyone” is removed. This works 100 % on Windows 7 clients and Windows 2003 Terminal Servers. But on Windows 2008 R2 RDS this dont work.The Delete Policy will not delete the shared
printer. No warning in any logs, and the gpresult shows that the gpo setting applyed sucessfully. The only way I can make the Delete policy work is if i give the user print rights on the printer on the printsrv. Looks like for the policy to work on 2008
R2 the user must have print rights on the printer object on the printserver. The GPP Delete Policy will not delete printers that have status : access denied. Anyone else had this problem?

Based on your description, it seems that we need to give users appropriate permissions, for the error
Access is denied is more or less related to permissions.
However, we can avoid deploying the GPP printer delete policy. As far as I know, we can use Item-Lvel Targeting of GPP to push the shared printers
to the targeted users or groups.
