Static noise in imported songs

Pretty new at this.  Have been importing personal CD's was going fine.  Recently the songs I import into ITunes have a very annoying scratching/static sound in them.  Does anyone know how to fix this?  Is it my hardware, or an issue in ITunes itself?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I too have this problem. This used to be the case with both Windows Media Player and iTunes. So, I updated my Windows Media Player to version 11 and overcame this problem in the windows side of things. I then import from the Windows Media Player or WMA format to iTunes 7 and do not have static. My problem began once my son imported his Wierd Al Yankovick CD directly to iTunes. Now every cd comes in with static. I still cannot import directly from CD to iTunes 7. And, yes, I do have the latest version. We should be able to do this directly.
Any advice from anyone out there in Apple land as to make iTunes import correctly?

  • Static Noise from Imported Songs

I imported songs from my CDs using iTunes 7 and it created some static noise in some songs. I doesn't do that for every song, maybe one in every ten songs, but it is frequent enough to bother me.
When I imported same songs using Music Match program and manually added them to iTunes, I don't hear any static noise.
Any idea to solve this problem? Thanks.

  • Poor Quaility Importing Songs

If I import a CD into iTunes it will from time to time import it poorly. The biggest problem is a "scratching" sound that is placed over the tracks. The CD's that I have imported are brand-new, scratch-free CD's so I know its not them but iTunes itself that is causing the problem. Many times if I listen to a song it will constantly make a high-pitch screeching sound that sounds like a loud static noise, usually lasting 2-3 seconds each time but playing on and off over the length of a whole song. When this happens I have to delete the songs and re-upload them, although this doesn't guarantee that the song won't have new static placed on it when imported again. I've imported CD's onto my computer using other media players like Windows and Real Player without any static problems so I'm pretty sure its just iTunes causing this problem. This issue has only come up since I started using a new computer a few months back. That's the only other cause I can think of. What could be the source of this problem?

Any program that can rip a CD and create MP3 files is fine. Just rip and then add the files to your iTunes library.

  • Basic "why" quest. re: importing songs from CDs

When I put my CD in the eMac to import songs, the songs from the CD show up on the iTunes screen out of sequence. The song that is first on the original CD/album is now number 7, song 3 from the CD is now number 10, etc.
    Why is this?
How do I put the songs back in the original order that they were in on the CD?
Also, how do I manually move songs in my iTunes Library? I know that iTunes will arrange the songs, but is there a way that I can override that?
    Thanks!

Don't be afraid of the software. Poke around in the prefs and see what different options do. As long as you pay attention to what you are doing so you can put it back like it was you really can't hurt anything. And always remember the Cancel button. As you learn how the software works and why it does what it does you will become more confident and the next thing you know you'll have thousands of posts on this board and will be helping people every day.
As to rearranging the order of tracks... you can only sort tracks in the main Library by the columns (Name, Artist, Tracks, Album, etc.), not drag them into different orders. But Playlists are a different matter. In both Smart Playlists and static Playlists tracks can be sorted by clicking the column headers. But if you want the tracks in a certain order then click the column to the far left, the one that contains the numbers and you can then drag and drop the tracks into whatever order you want them to be in.

  • Static Noise or No Playback

Hello. I have a mini ipod 1st generation and about a week ago I noticed that it would not play certain songs and if it did play them then it was with static noise or with improper playback. If anyone knows how to solve this problem or has ever had this happen to them, please let me know.
    Cheers!

Yes I reformatted it and restored it without any change in playback. Most of the time it will not play any of the songs. Please help!!!

  • USB Microphone static noise OSX Yosemite.

Same thing as the title recently upgraded from late 2008 iMac using Mountain Lion to a late 2013 iMac using Yosemite and now when I plug in my USB headset into one of the 4 USB slots the microphone is robotic and static noises appear. When I plug the headphones into the Usb slot in my keyboard the mic works fine. Anyone else experiencing this?

What version of Premiere Elements are you using on your Mac computer? Is your USB microphone a standalone or part of a USB web cam type device?
Classically the Adobe ReadMe mentions that USB Microphones do not work with Premiere Elements. Yes, I have seen a report that USB microphone would be expected to work with correct Control Panel and program Edit Menu/Preferences/Audio Hardware ASIO settings at least in versions 10 and 11 Mac.
Please see a thread from last year and its discussion on the matter.
I can't get premiere elements 11 to see my usb microphone?
Some have found a few USB Microphones that do work in Premiere Elements (any version), but those reports are scattered. So to answer your question
will an other usb microphone work?
maybe or maybe not is the best answer I can offer at this time.
For troubleshooting purposes, can you create the narration in a free audio editor like Audacity and then
import that narration into the Premiere Elements project (Add Media/Files and Folders) without issue?
    http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
Perhaps we can encourage Premiere Elements users versions 4 to 13 who use a USB microphone to post in your thread (for informational
purposes) the brand/model USB microphone that has worked for them.

  • Static only when importing

Apologies if this has been answered already, I searched the help menus and forum to no avail even though similar but not exactly the same problems are cited.
    Anyway...
I have uploaded over 3000 tracks from CD without a glitch. Importing one disc today (new and legitimately pruchased)it hung for an age, locking up the p.c. When it finally imported it was scratchy and distorted in sound, almost as though my speaker cable were loose and touching something metal (which I have checked). I cleared the albumn from my playlist and tried another.
At first this too seemed to have the same problem only I have now narrowed the problem down to the fact that all tracks played, either from the importing disc, the library or indeed the music store samples are distorted if I play them while importing.
Once the import ends all is right again. Reboots, virus / spyware scans, firewall settings and other usual external fixes have been tried.
Bare in mind that this now happens 100% of the time, 100% of discs, only during import and only since the troublesome import.
Any suggestions?...and not listening while uploading is not a contender, I still have to sit here and upload another 3,000 tracks and aint gonna whistle while I do it.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
In the past I have had a similar issue with one board (mic was giving a backgroung humm ie static noise).
The cause was revealed quite few months later as the board finally died... as the board had been originally installed around 1,5 years ago - there was some extra metal board connector under the motherboard in the computer case which wasn't "screwed in" - it was just supporting the board, not grounded and therefore causing a short circuit. That caused the humming and finally also killed the board.
So, be sure that all the screws are properly tightened and there's nothing touching the board or it's components which could short circuit.

  • Tactic3D Alpha Static Noise / Sound Distortion

I recently bought a Tactic3D Alpha and I'm having some problems with it. At first, when talking to my friends on Skype, they kept telling me that they could barely hear me (mic volume was at 100%), then I saw the "new" firmware and installed it (before installing it, it seemed that the one I had was more recent, but I'm not sure, since they don't specify any date, only a hexadecimal(I think) version).
After that, I didn't notice any volume improvement of the mic (my friends kept telling me that I was talking "inside a well"). But a bit later I started noticing that when some sound (Windows sounds, music, etc.) was playing there was always some static noise. In some cases, on some songs with lots of bass, the sound even got distorted. The static noise is even more noticeable when using earphones connected through the usb soundcard.
Even when using the default Windows 7 (x64) driver (the one that is automatically installed) this issue happens. It also happens on Ubuntu 10.04. So it makes me believe it's either a firmware or a hardware problem.
I'm not sure if it was the firmware update that started this problem, but I don't remember noticing any static noise before the update.
    Firmware Version I have now: D0_01_21 .
I don't remember exactly what was the version of the firmware the came on it.
Is there any other firmware available that I can try and see if it fixes my problem, even if it's older than this one?
Using the headset connected to my onboard soundcard (a Realtek one) works fine. Mic volume is decent and no static noise / distortion is noticeable. The only drawback is that I can't use the enhancements that the USB soundcard of the Tactic3D Alpha offers.

Just contacted the support a few moments ago. Waiting for a response now (already received the automatic email).
I'm just not sure if it was happening before the firmware. If it was, I didn't notice it. :robotsad:

  • IPod making static noises

When I am in the middle of using my iPod (4th generation iTouch) it will make static noises then freeze. Then it will reset and not turn back on for at least another 2 hours. It just shows the apple symbol or the spinning wheel. Once it finally turns back on it will only work for about 2 minutes then do the same thing over again. Please help because I use my ipod for many things and its a pain when it won't work

Audio plays fine on the speakers, it's the earphones that make the noise. I tried using a different pair, and the noise SEEMS to be gone. Also, alongside the audio popping, the volume lowers slightly whenever the noise occurs, and sometimes my songs/videos pause randomly. I've noticed the glitch only occurs when I move my iPod, so if I wanted to just carry it from my desk to my bed, with earphones in and audio playing, it pops. Keeping it still, it almost never happens.
It seems as if the earphones I were using are just faulty, but using them on my laptop, they're fine. My friend who is also tech-savvy says it's possibly a problem with my earphones, and I think so as well, but with all this new info I just shared, is the problem caused by the iPod itself?

  • Static noise than no music

IPOD Video: I have the same exact problem...bought my back in November worked well till about three weeks ago. Starts playing than static noise excessively loud after 10-20 minutes of running. After static for a few seconds goes away including the music. I tried several headphones and my ipod connection in my car even the docking station connection with no sound. Several hours later it works again but starts the problem all over again. I sent it to IPOD apple for repairs and they found no trouble. I played it again seemed like things were ok but startes up again after an half an hour. I called apple suport so I shipped it out again. I haven't received it yet but its on its way back home and apparently the techs didn't find a problem with it. It seems like if the temperature is higher than 80 degrees it doesn't work right. I beleive the problem is in the sound card...if it was my computer thats what I would replace. Has anyone finally had their IPOD repaired from the loud static noise and no sound?

Yes I reformatted it and restored it without any change in playback. Most of the time it will not play any of the songs. Please help!!!

  • IPod Nano keeps skipping, static noises?

Hey Everyone, wanted to get your thoughts on my problem. My 2gb white iPod Nano (got it refurbished via Apple) has been skipping a few seconds proceeded and followed by some static noise. I thought perhaps it was some electrical charge from it rubbing against fabric but it's happened when I've had it sit on my desk as well. It does seem to happen often in podcasts.
I've listen to the same songs/podcasts on iTunes and my older iPod (20gb 3gen) and it sounds just fine.
    Thanks in advance.

I am trying to import songs to my new macbook pro from my old computer using home sharing. Both computers say that home sharing is now on but neither show up in each other's library menu. I am logged on with the same apple id for both computers. and both are on a stable wireless connection

Logging into itunes store on each machine wth different Apple IDs is OK Autorising each others machines with the other Apple ID is OK. This is completley separate from Home Sharing
For Home Sharing to work you need to
File > Home Sharing > Create Home Share.
You need to select one of the two Apple IDs you are using and ENTER THIS ON BOTH MACHINES WHEN CREATING THE HOME SHARE.
    Home sharing will then work

  • How do i get my ipod to import songs from a computer that it is not registered to without losing all my current songs?

my ipod was registered to my old computer which i no longer have. I now have a new computer and would like to add songs to my ipod however when i try to import songs to my ipod i get an error message that states, "This ipod is registered to another computer." Does anyone know how i can import new songs to my ipod without losing all the songs currently on my ipod?

This really isn't an iTunes Store question and would have been better asked in the iPod classic forum, but anyway, you'll need to reformat your iPod to use it with Windows. See:
