Static on display

I have a G5 with two 23" aluminum case displays, that I use primarily for video editing. The primary display, which is older, has just started showing orange and turquoise static. The static can be especially noticeable on start-up, when it looks like a wind blowing across from the left. During video editing, orange static lines form across images, sometimes partially filling in areas of a picture. I've swapped power adapters and DVI ports, but the problem remains. Gently tapping the case will cause the static to go away for a while. The other display shows no problem. Does this mean the display is dying?

Whoops, wrong computer. It's a Mac Pro with the two displays.

  • Google Static Maps display with LabVIEW

    Hi,
    I have made a VI that displays the map based on Google Static Maps. For testing, I give random LAT and LON to display the location on front panel.
    Issue is, whenever I try to change the coordiantes via a numeric control, the display either takes too much time to load and most of the times it shows half of the display. I tried putting a delay inside while loop but it does the same; shows me half image.
    The Google Static maps work a URL script that has a specific format provided my Google. The format can be viewed here: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/staticmaps/
    I have also attached a VI. A little asistance is needed in how I could either change my code in a such a way that i uses less memory and takes very less time to load.
    Thank you.

    Attaching my VI does not seem to work either, I get an error saying that "The contents of the attachment doesn't match its file type."

    Hi Pianne,
    have you tried to uploade a .zip file containing your .vi?!

  • B590 - intermittent static in display

    A friend bought her B590 Essentials laptop this past April (2013), and over the succeeding months, she's told me that intermittently (only twice in the past eight months that she's owned it) the screen will get 'static-y' or 'snowy' like an old TV... She says it almost appears as though the screen appears to have letter and/or numbers streaming across the screen at a high rate of speed...  It doesn't 'last' very long and the laptop does not appear to have any other 'issues', but since this is still under warranty, and if this is going to deteriorate further, I'd like to understand what is happening and get this servcied or replaced ASAP.  It was MY suggestion she buy this laptop so I feel a bit 'responsible' for this...
    It almost sounded like 'electrical interference', possibly, but could this possibly be casued by a device driver...?
    I don't think I've ever seen this type of display problem so I'm sort of "grasping at straws" here....  anyone have any input?

    hi billzinn,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
    Is the system running Windows 8?
          This you can try
    1.   This works with Windows 7 to 8.1, Disable the Adaptive Brightness, This somehow can cause like sudden change in display properties depending on Outside light to match the light.
    http://windows7themes.net/auto-brightness-turn-adaptive-brightness-on-or-off-in-windows-8-via-cp.htm...
    2.  Uninstall the Display Driver and Reinstall it.
              Uninstall:
                  Open Device Manager and look for Display adapter, Rightclick on Intel HD Graphics and choose uninstall.
    Place a check on delete driver software for this device.
              Reinstall:
    Download the driver back depending on your operating system (WIndows version)
    Windows 7 64bit
     Intel Display Driver
    Windows 8
     Intel Display Driver
    Windows 8.1
     Intel Display Driver
    After the installation, Observe the computer if it will show the same problem.
    If Yes I suggest you call Technical Support Right away and have the issue reported,
    Hope this helps

  • Problem with static display...

    Hi All,
    I have a problem with my computer displaying a static screen... See model and OS below.
    Sometimes when I am booting up, the screen will display a static-like display. This happens only once in a great while. Sometimes it will happen when waking from sleep. Recently however, it has happened while using the computer right in the middle of doing something...! So I unplugged the monitor connection and plugged it back in... voila! The computer screen comes back! One thing I do know is that the computer is operating behind the static. Just that the image is not displaying what it is supposed to display.
    I've run AHT and it finds nothing. Would this be a graphics card problem (my guess)? Or other? I just read this thread...
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1947029&tstart=0
    ... and they have found no solution either. Not sure if it's the same problem over several versions of OSX and graphic cards, which makes me think it could be a software problem.
    An image of my screen with all the static can be found here:
    http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk19/wanoyee/DSCF2445.jpg
    This is on a 27" Dell display.
    Does anyone know if this is a software issue or hardware issue? Fixes? Anyone else with this problem?
    Thanks for any help.

    Display card is stock Radeon ATI 5770. I'm using a single DVI cable connected directly to the graphics card using the DVI port. No other adapters/converters. Snowy display seems to happen more often lately.

  • External Monitor Static When Waking From Sleep

    Hello community, did anyone had the disrcibed problem and knows about it?
    After waking up from hibernation, display is static an doesn't work on; getting of from thunderbolt and put in after a little bit of time doesn't help.

    To everyone experiencing the frustrating "static on display when resuming from sleep", I think I finally got the solution to resolve the problem. Since the most recent versions of OSX are using "TV resolution" to configure digital displays (such as 1080p, 720p...) I thought maybe my mac was trying to "talk" with my displays in a "TV language" so I went in my SyncMaster's display setup and changed a few settings to fix the "miscommunication" between my mac and the displays. Surprise! After many months of frustration, it finally fixed the problem!
    Here's what I changed in the SyncMaster's setup menu:
    Under "SIZE & POSITION" menu, go to "Image Size" and set to "Screen Fit"
    Under "SETUP & RESET" menu (down on the second page with my model), go to "Auto Source" and set to "Manual"
    Finally,still under the same "SETUP & RESET" menu page, go to "PC/AV Mode" and set to "AV"
    Bingo! Now when the computer wakes up from sleep, the screens are going back on like a charm!
    Hope this will help people who had the same issue using MacPro with Samsung SyncMaster displays, worked for me anyways!...
    Cheers!

  • Can I make an image display instead of flash slideshow on explorer with high security?

    I am a total flash beginner.  I created a simple flash slideshow that I want to appear on my website.  It works fine in firefox., but when viewed in explorer with high security, nothing displays unless the viewer specifically allows it. The slideshow is very prominent, and the site looks very bad when only an x shows up.   Is it possible to have a static image display in place of the slideshow, and then have the slideshow start if the viewer allows it? Is there any other way to get around this?
    Thank you for any assistance.
    EJ

    Have you tested it with IE online or only locally?  Locally IE will usually prohibit displaying Flash content.

  • Green noise is being displayed where black should be being displayed

    OK, I am really worried that my Macbook Pro is screwed up bad. I've been playing World of Warcraft fine for weeks. Been watching my temps, been a little high but not anything dangerous. However I've recently been noticing that when I play WoW for over 2 hrs or so and exit, my screen glitches and what can best be described as green static is displayed where black should be. Now I've tried reseting the NVRAM and leaving it alone for a few hrs and it went away. Now it popped up again, did the same thing that fixed it before, but now it won't go away. Did my Mac overheat and now the graphics are messed up?

    Are you still under warranty? If so, it would be prudent to report this to Apple and possibly get a case number. It sounds like there could be a hardware problem with the graphics chip, even if nothing showed up on the AHT. Did you run the AHT at a time that you were getting the green noise?
    Have you tried an external display? If you get the some problem on it, that would indicate a graphics chip problem. If you don't, there could be some sort of problem with your built in display.
    Good luck!

    Yorkroad's tip is correct. You'll want to create an instance of the class within the main function, then call all methods using that instance. This will allow you to have all your methods non-static. (The error is because main is a static method).
    A good way to avoid that problem is to have your main function in its own seperate class in order to maintain a truly object-oriented methodology.

  • Over riding static methods

    hi i wrote two static methods with same signatures in two different classes. i know that static methods never override.but observe this code..
    class staticoverload1
    static void display()
                   System.out.println("i am from first display");
    class staticoverload2 extends staticoverload1
         static int a=10;
         static void display()
              staticoverload1.display();
              System.out.println("the value of x is:"+a);
    class staticoverload
         public static void main(String args[])
              staticoverload2 s1=new staticoverload2();
              s1.display();
    i got output as follows:
    i am from first display
    x value is :10
    in the above problem over riding is happened or not

    Please post your code in code tags.
    s1.display();
    Don't call static methods on objects. Tis ugly. But it will use the type of the reference.
    class Test {
         public static void display() {
              System.out.println("Test");
         public static void main(String[] argv) {
              Test t = new Test2();
              t.display(); // Prints "Test". Even if you set it to null.
    class Test2 extends Test {
         public static void display() {
              System.out.println("Test2");
    }Finally this should have been posted in New To Java.

  • Static variable reference.

    I have written a small synchronized code
    class Foo implements Runnable {
    private byte[] myLock = new byte[0];
    public static void display(Foo f){
         synchronized(f.myLock){
         //Code to lock.
    }My question is:
    If I use synchronized(f.myLock),how can 'f' refer to a non-static variable
    myLock?
    Shouldnt static methods refer only to static variables?
    Am I missing a point?

    f is an instance of Foo, and f.myLock refers to the lock object of that very instance.
    If you just write myLock without specifying the object, it refers to the instance against which the current method is executing. But such an instance does not exist for a static method, so you can not use that "unadorned" myLock in a static method.

  • How to print square root ?

    Hi...i want to print square root on command prompt and a symbol(i don't know what it's name for second symbol). But i get a problem. Below is my code. For what i understand i should use \u221A right? :-
    public class Test
         public static void main(String[]args)
              try
                   System.out.println("\u221A");
                   System.out.println("\u00ea");
              catch(Exception e)
                   e.printStackTrace();
    }But the result is only question mark...can someone show me the right way and what's wrong to my code. I very appreciate to any help. Thank you.

    but it does show up in swing components
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    public class printsymb
         private static final String SYMBOL = String.valueOf( '\u221A' );
         public static void main( String args[] )
              display( SYMBOL );
              System.out.print( SYMBOL );
              System.out.println( 4 );
         private static void display( String symbol )
              JTextArea text = new JTextArea( symbol );
              JFrame f = new JFrame();
              f.add( text, BorderLayout.CENTER );
              enableJFrame( f );
         private static void enableJFrame( JFrame frame )
              frame.setDefaultCloseOperation( JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE );
              frame.setSize( 320, 240 );
              frame.setVisible( true );
    }you can always put it out like this "sqrt(someExp)" can't you?

  • From database to drop down box

    Hi all,
    Suppose I have the following
    String query ="Select name, number from Person";
    I want to put all the "names" in a drop down box and all the "numbers" in a separate drop down box. When I do this:
    while(rs.next()){
    <select="person" onchange="showSelection">
    <option value="<%=rs.getString("name")%>"><%=rs.getString("name")%></option></select>
    I only get the value of the first name in my table. Can anyone help me?

    Hi
    I think you need to do some order. my suggestion is to create an Object that contains name and number like this:public class MyClass {
         String name;
         int number;
         public MyClass(String n,int num){
              setName(n);
              setNumber(num);
         //set and get methods for the data members...
    }next, roll over the ResultSet and create MyClass object each time and add it to a Vector or something like that. usually a drop down box displays many times and it will be very bad if you will query the data base each time you want to display it, thats why i suggest you to save this Vector in a bean or somewhere else (of course, if the data is static).
    than display the vector content like this:<select name="person" onchange="showSelection">
    <%     Enumeration e=vec.elements();
         while(e.hasMoreElements()){
              MyClass m=(MyClass)e.nextElement();
    %>          <option value="<%=m.getName();%>"><%=m.getName();%></option>
    <%     }%>
    </select>
    <%     e=vec.elements();
    %><select name="number" onchange="showSelection">
    <%     while(vec.hasNext()){
              MyClass m=(MyClass)vec.next();
    %>          <option value="<%=m.getNumber();%>"><%=m.getNumber();%></option>
    <%     }%>
    </select>pay attention on how you wrote the select tag: <select="person"...
    and not: <select name="person"...
    hope it helps
    mamtz
    BTW
    think of using struts and custom tags in jsp it will much easier to do this!!!
