Static on my cordless phones

I am lacking in knowledge about my new router. I have several cordless phones in my home. Right now there is an annoying amount of static interference on the phone while in use. Is this noise caused by the router in some way? If so what is my solution if there is one? 3 of the phone are new and part of a set. I want to check here about the router before I call Panasonic about the phones.

If you have a DSL line, make sure you have installed line filters on all telephone lines, except the one that your modem uses.  If this is not the problem, then read on:
Many wireless phones use the same 2.4 GHz band that the router uses.  To see if the problem is related to the router, get on the phone, note the static, then have a friend unplug the wireless router.  Does the static instantly stop?   Wait 30 seconds, then plug the router back in and allow the router to boot up.  Did the static start again?
If the problem is related to the router, then the solution is to try to get your phone and your router to use different channels.  There are 11 channels in the 2.4 GHz band.  The channels overlap, so try to set the router and your phone so that they are at least 5 channels apart.  Usually channels 1, 6, and 11 work best.
Some phones cannot be set to a channel.  In this case, simply try different channels on the router.
In most cases, you can find some settings that will eliminate the problem.  However sometimes the only solution is to replace the phone.  If you need to get a new phone, look for one that uses the 5+ GHz band, or the new DECT 6.0 phones that use the 1.9 GHz band.  Note that some 5+ GHz phones also use the 2.4 GHz band, so check the specs carefully.  Many phones are now marked "Wi-Fi Friendly" or carry similar designations -- look for this when you shop.

  • Using Adapter with Cordless Phone

Hi everyone!  My family and I are going to live in South America next week and need help deciding whether to buy the Skype Adapter or the Dual phones.  If we use the adapter and get an online number, if someone calls our online number, can we answer the call on our cordless phones?
Also, does anyone know if the adapter has to be connected to the computer to make calls?
    Thank you!!!

Howdy, I think it's unlikely you'll be able to do what you want.  There haven't been any new phone drivers for Palm OS devices issued since the 2005 Phone Link Update, and the Palm OS is essentially dead so there won't be any new drivers written.

  • Cannot Dial Out With a Cordless Phone

A month ago I had a phone line installed at my flat. It's a New Build so I was starting from scratch. I've tried two different cordless phones in the socket and neither will dial out. I get a dial tone, but when I punch in a number a voice tells me the number isn't recognised. Yesterday I plugged in a friend's phone which is a big old corded thing that's at least fifteen years old. It worked fine. Another friend says the only real difference is that the old phone isn't digital and that I can't use a digital phone on my phone line. Has anyone heard of this before? I'm not sure what to do. I've had nothing but trouble with BT getting my address and billing wrong and I'm sick of them. I don't want to call again and lose more of my precious life force if I don't have to.

    Hi and welcome
Ensure you have unplugged all other equipment when you have tried a different phone.
Have you tried the phone (with no ADSL filter if you have Broadband) direct in the test point of your main socket?
This main socket looks like this.
remove the 2 screws each side of the socket and gently remove the bottom half, just in side the bit left on the wall you will find another socket on the right hand side, plug your phone directly into there and check if you can dial out now.
If you cant dial out correctly to here (i would try a couple of phones), there is a fault outside of your premises and you should report it to your comms provider.
If it works ok to the test socket you have a fault within your premises either on wiring or aparatus.

  • Cordless phone on separate line kills AOL connection with Airport Extreme

I lose my AOL connection everytime I get a phone call. My cordless phone is a panasonic 2.4Ghz gigarange extreme connected to a separate line. How can I change settings on either Airport Extreme or the cordless phone to fix this?
    Thanks,
    [email protected]

I'm not sure if it would adequately help your problem, but you might try separating the channels of the AEBS & phone (setting the AEBS on ch. 11 and the phone on ch. 1).

  • Airtunes audio drop with cordless phone call

... is this normal behavior? I kinda don't mined since it's like an automatic mute (although I need to hit play again in iTunes after the phone call). Just wondering if there are configuration options to change this. Maybe switching channels?

    Changing channels may help.
Some cordless phones operate on the sam 2.4GHz frequency as Airport and therefore can cause interference.

  • Interferance with cordless phone

My Airtunes cuts out frequently while on the cordless phone. I have tried all the different settings (channels, robust signal, etc.) in the Airport Utility. Any suggestions?
I don't use it for my internet. Only for Airtunes.

Hello Steve Hoiberg. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Unfortunately, not many choices here. I am assuming the your cordless phone operates on the 2.4 GHz radio band. If so, here are a few things to try:
o Change radio channels on the AirPort Express Base Station (AX)
o Change radio channels on the cordless phone (if it offers this option)
o Relocate the cordless phone's base station.
o Replace your cordless phone for one that operates in either the 900 MHz or 5 GHz band.

  • BT cordless phone battery rating and use as a char...

    Hello,
Can I use any mAh rating of rechargeable batteries in my cordless phone?
Can I use my phone as a general battery charger?
I've got two old cordless phones in use, the main one is a Bt Esprit 1250 (takes AAA batteries) and the spare a BT Diverse 4000 (takes AA batteries). The Esprit originally came (I think) with 650 mAh batteries in it (replaced with 1000 mAh when they died), the Diverse with 700 mAh batteries.
Is there any reason not to use high mAh rated batteries? and if I do will I get the full benefit of the extra capacity?
I presume the chargers in these phones are designed so that they switch to trickle charge when the batteries are fully charged, so as not to damage them. Does anyone know whether this switch takes account of the actual capacity of the batteries (and not stop when they've reached 650 / 700 mAh)?
Is there any way to find out what the tech. spec. of the charger is, specifically the charge current?
    Thanks,
    Piers.

The quick no mucking about answer to this is to call the BT shop.
Explain exactly what you want in the spec of the device. Eg, how many numbers stored in contacts, corded. cordless, DECT or not etc etc.
They will come up with a product.  You can then either proceed to the point of sale, or make a note of what they suggest and try to find it cheaper elsewhere [and please note one and all, I'm not saying where ].
If you cant beat the BT price, get back onto the BT shop and order. They are very prompt if the item is in stock.  You will find all the manuals etc for everything they sell on bt.com and there is plenty of advice on here.
I started a product search, but there are so many variables, best to do it [directly with the BT shop for starters] yourself.
Hope that helps. BTW, with many devices, you only need one BT socket, extensions can simply plug directly into a power supply elsewhere in your property.

  • Yet another cordless phone thread?

Hey, all-- I recently switched out an old cordless phone for a new one, and instantly began experiencing interference (I know it's the cordless phone because the airport goes from solid green to blinking amber every time I make or receive a call). I've searched the forums and I don't know what to do about it. I've tried three different new phones (two were 5.8 ghz, the third was this 6.0 stuff they're selling these days), and they've all caused the same interference problem. I've tried setting the airport's channel to everything from 1 to 11. Is there anything else I can try, or is it time for me to switch back to a lynksis router?
Thanks for taking the time to read this. I look forward to reading your suggestions!

Sure did. The wireless internet had been working fine for almost two years. It wasn't until my old phone died and I tried to replace it with the newer models that the problems began.

  • Senior lady needs help getting cordless phones set...

    Hello Everyone,
I have been successful making calls on Skype but I need to get my cordless phones set up with my home number on Skype. I purchased a Linksys Internet Phone Adapter and it shows it is getting power. But there is no light for Phone# 1 where I have the phone cord hooked up.
This is the way I have it hooked up:
A/C power to back of adapter
Regular phone line wire in Phone#1 from adapter to my cordless base unit
Internet cable wire from adapter to my internet router
The CD had no instant setup instructions on it or how to get the drivers off. I found the model number but couldn't figure out how to get the required info in to my computer.
Can somebody walk me through how to set this up? I'm an 80 yr old lady and all these PDF files looks like it would take somebody with an engineering degree to figure them out. Do you remember that old commercial....."Help! I've fallen and I can't get up!" Well.....that's sorta me.
    Can someone please help me?

The PAP2T is not compatible with Skype's standard service.  It is only compatible with SIP providers and is usually more difficult to configure as well.  Skype does support SIP in a business environment with additional hardware at a greater expense, unfortunately that solution really won't work for you.  The only standalone device that I'm aware of that is still compatible with Skype is the Freetalk Connect Me (Talk-12xx).  It is similar to the device you have but it is designed to work solely with Skype's standard service.
I cover the requirements a bit here:

  • BB drops out when i use cordless phone

Bt recently upgraded my speed to 20mb  which seems variable but no complaints on that BUT now when i receieve or make a call using my cordless diguital landline my BB drops out immediately until i end the call.  I also have a CORDED phone connected and when i use that to take or make a cal there is no problem at all... I have tried new filters, even bought new cordless phones, tested things by removing top plate from main socket and conecting directly to the test socket inside. My phones are aprox 6 metres from my bt 2.0 hub and there is nothing close or near the hub or the phones. I have tried changing the channels in the hub but nothings makes any difference at all.  Stil waiting for bt to come back with an answer  other than to do all the things ive already tried.. Seems obvious to me that the new faster speed is the problem ,mabye bt hub just cant cope with it?

    Hi lennyuk,
    Welcome to the forum!
Did the tech team get back to you about this? Does the Hub power light go off when you lose connection by any chance? Are you referring to losing a wireless connection, or does the Hub actually re-boot?
    Thanks,

  • BT Broadband and cordless phone

We have been using our BT Broadband services with a BT cordless phone for a while and all is well. We had issues with devices not being able connect to Home Hub and losing connections etc. So we repalced the BT hub with a netgear router and all our problems ceased and our wifi/internet has been acceptable.
This weekend we replaced the BT cordless with two other different makes of cordless phones. Both cordless phones cause the router to disconnect from the Internet, particularly when the phones are in use. We have called the phone service support and they have said the problem is with the BT Broadband service.
Can you please advise how we get the new phones to work with BT Broadband.

Did you replace the filter as they do not last forever

  • BT Synergy 3505 cordless phone - handset isn't wor...

I have just started re-using an old BT Synergy 3505 cordless phone after nearly five years ( Yes, times are hard...)  but the phone seems to receive calls okay, at least it rings, but will not allow me to dial out to make a call.  Is this simply a case of replacing the batteries ( a special type) or is the phone simply knackered?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. The phone line itself is newly installed so the problem lies with the phone I think!

  • Cordless phone problems

Yesterday I suddenly found that a cordless phone that I had used for years lost its dial tone, I could not make or receive calls. When I dialled a number I heard the usual number tones then nothing.
I tried phone without filter, without powerline, direct into the hub. No luck. I changed batteries then used a different phone, same problem. BT checked my line and no fault. At present I am having to use a corded phone (works perfectly)which is driving us crackers as we now have no answer machine and we cannot move phone to convenient locations.
I have contacte BT via chatline but after about 30 minutes of being advised to try all the remedies already tried I was offerred they conact bservice engineer at my expense. The helpline was ended at this point.
Would be exremely grateful for any help that anyone can offer.

Sounds like your base station has lost it's connection to the handset, or has failed. The menus on the handset often have a pairing setting -you could see if that's gone wrong. Do the handets have an indicator to show they see the base station?
Only other thing I've seen is if I put the base station too close to my Internet router, it kills the phone signal dead -and vice versa.
