Stationary layer mask with moving image in iWeb?

Hi everyone,
I have a an image that I only want 1/4 of revealed. I want to animate the image so that it moves across the opening of the mask (like someone passing by a window).
Is this possible in iWeb?

Thank You for the links- this is a real education!- and after you rewrite the code where do you put it in iWeb? Do you paste it into a text box? Is the code embedded into the iWeb file or is it a link to a server outside the file?
Sorry about all the questions- I'm just trying to understand the technology so I can make a decision of where to start learning. I am looking for the simplest path to follow.

Hi,
I have a image in a layer mask with an gradient on a 30c0m0y100k background and at the gradient from image to background I always get a white "shine". which NOT appears when the background is the standard photoshop-black definition in all colors.

Layer mask with background animation

Hi all,
I am looking to create a video for my YouTube channel using Layer Mask but I am not too competent in using masks.
The logo for my channel is here:
I would like to create a moving background in where the coloured image is but I want to mask out the white areas and keep the text on top. Is it as simple as just creating a hexagonal layer mask with the text in a separate layer?

Using PSE9, how can a copy a layer and its layer mask to another image?
The on-line help contains a topic on how to copy a layer but trying the different methods in the help topic results in either nothing being copied or just the layer without its layer mask being copied. Thanks.

How are you copying? If you float your images, so they are both partially visible in the work area, make the one with the to be copied layer active. Then drag the layer from the layers palette onto the other image. Now you should have both the layer and the mask on the second image.

Layer Mask with Adjust Skin Tones?

Is there a way to use a layer mask with the adjust skin tone option in PE4? I like what it did to the skin , but not what it did to the wall in the photo. Thanks.

Hi Jon there are at least three ways.
#1..Make a selection.. then apply the skin tone option. Only the selected area will be active.
#2... Duplicate the layer you want to work on. Apply the skin tone. Then hold the Ctrl key and make a new layer. The new blank layer will be below the layer with the skin tone. Then hold the Alt key and click between the two layers to group them. The skin tone will disappear but you can paint it back with a black brush, or remove with an eraser. Just be sure to have the blank layer active.
#3... Duplicate and apply tone as in #2. Open an adjustment layer, like levels, directly below the skin tone layer. Click ok do not make any adjustments. Then as above hold the Alt key and click between the layers to group them, look for the link symbol. Now you can remove with a black brush or add with a white brush.

What do you do when painting on a layer mask with the correct color dosen't work?

I have been trying to do some compositing but when i paint with white on a black layer mask or black on a white layer mask, NOTHING HAPPENS. What should I be looking for? Is there an adjustment that needs to be set a certain way? I would also like to know how you open multiple images in one document with each image on it's own layer. Thanks...

Everything is set correctly... still nothing.
I want to use a texture and an image. I have them both in the same document, but the only way to get the texture to allow the image to show through is to reduce the opacity. That's not the look I want. I tried clipping the two different images together, but then I could only see the photo itself and no texture. I just don't understand why when I set things correctly they don't work.
One other question if I may? Everything, all of a sudden is opening in Preview instead of with PS as it has always been in the past. I don't recall changing any settings. What should I look for to make PS my default...
Oh and one more thing. When I click on Safari photoshop goes missing and Safari shows. If I click on photoshop then Safari goes missing. This is INCREDIBLY annoying and I don't know why it's doing that. Both these things started at the same time. I'm on a Mac.

Delete layer mask and not image?

I create a layer mask on a layer and then I duplicate the layer and I want to delete the layer mask on the duplicate layer, though keep the image part. I select the layer mask and hit delete, though it deletes everything on the layer. How can I keep the image portion of the layer?

There are several ways including dragging the layer mask to the trash icon
at the bottom of the layers panel (pick delete in the dialog that pops up)
or right clicking on the layer mask and choosing Delete Layer Mask.

Turned off automatic layer masks with adjustment layers - want them back

I somehow turned off the option that creates a layer mask automatically when creating a new adjustment layer. I need that feature back, but I cannot locate it anywhere in photoshop or on google. Does anyone know how to reset that option? I am using CS5. Thanks!

Thanks. That is what I have been tying to find, but I am afraid I need a little more guidance. I am in the layers panel and clicked on the arrow to the right and I have no options to select this. Here is what I am looking at:

I don't get a fluent blending( the transparant 'checkboard layer' merge with the images instead) of the images i like to blend

I like to fluently blend in more images , When i use the gradient tool and hold down the shift key to draw a line , i see no fluent transition of the two images, instead part of image fades into a tranpanrant ' check board' layer instead.
What goes wrong here?

Yes, I understand it's not always easy to grasp to what goes on on the other side.
I already tried the above though nothing seemed to work
I had to use the paint brush as well but in reverse setting to get the desired result. If I dont use paint brush the checkboard appears thus it wont merg/ blend the images.
I don't understand how the guy in the video did this but with photoshop cc 2014 it seems to work different, apparantly.

Help with moving image on fluid page

I have been working with this fluid layout for too long....
I had everthing good once but then I did something and I think ruined my css file. I had a back up but evidently it wasn't recent enough
Anyway In my content1 tag I have an image or a video (its in the upper right corner) .... I need it moved to the left just a bit so it looks good in the frame. I tried all the little tricks that I know but no cigar. I'm not a web person, I am doing this for one of my worse half's clients (he is a photographer-long story).
I have a portion live expect links are staight to the final html. Any ideas?

Reverse clipping mask with imported image

I have a rectangle over a larger imported image, and I would like to get rid of the area that the ractangle covers. Clipping mask does the opposite, getting rid of the area outside, and pathfinder only works for paths, not imported images. I am a bit stumped on this, and was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this.

Yeah you may get best results with an opacity mask. Take the box you want to knock out of your image color it black, select the image and the black box and in the Transparency panel click make mask. Then deselect the Clip check box. You should be seeing the center of the image knocking out where the box was and you should have Clip and Invert Mask both deselected.

Problems with moving images, widgets and text.

Apologies if this question has already been asked. I think there has been a similar question asked but can't see a solution and I'm not sure if my problem is slightly different.
I have been designing a Muse website on a MacBook Pro, and placing widgets, text and images where they look correct in 'design' mode, but when viewing online, some items do not remain the same size and/or have moved. When viewing on a larger screen, such as an iMac, the positioning and sizing is even worse.
I can't figure out how to lock / maintain the correct sizing and positioning of items such as a 'youtube' video, text boxes and graphics in general as they appear in design mode.
I'd be VERY grateful if someone more experienced could advice how to avoid items changing when viewing on different sized screens.
Please see the difference between the appearance on a MacBook and iMac to better show what I am hoping to resolve.

When I try to move a stack between two stacks, it becomes part of the other stack. The black line is highlighted.
I want to organize my stacks so the best are at the top of the grid.

(THE MASK CHALLENGE)How do I mask a moving image?

I see this a lot in OLD NAVY commercials or any TV commercial.
CHALLENGE 1.)for example, say I import a mpeg of a man walking, how do I cut only him out and place him in front of another background?
CHALLENGE 2.)I am only able to cut a still image(jpeg) of a man and put him in another background, but there are still some white spots that I haven't been to cut out between his arms. Is there a lasso magnet tool that can help me cut him out more detailed or more precisely? Thanks for all there help if anyone knows this.

Just what specialcase said roto, or keying - or a combination of both. In the case of the Grass spot above, it wasn't shot for keying - the whole idea of placing the grass people over a close up of the grass was an after-the-fact idea on my part. It probably took me a couple of days straight (spread over a week or so - it is tedious) to roto the shots in that spot.
In this PSA, my son was shot against greenscreen and I keyed him over the background that was shot later. It was a bit problematic because it was shot very quickly in 15 minutes at the tail end of a regular commercial shoot, but it holds up pretty well.
I just completed a couple of commercials for Coffee-mate that involved a combination of difference matte, luma/chroma keying and straight paint roto, but I can't show you those yet as they have not aired. They're pretty seamless. I did all that work in Shake.
I'm sorry to say that I don't know of any sites that offer flat out instructions on how to do this stuff, I think it's largely a learn as you go kinda thing. At least for me it has been. There are some good books for learning the software, but how to apply that knowledge is a matter of experience.

Blending with a layer mask question

In CS5, I make a selection and copy it to a new layer and use the bloat tool to manipulate the layer, I then select the new layer mask with this new bloated layer and use the brush tool with the airbrush turned on to blend in this new layer with the original layer.
However, I am just not sure I understand what this is doing.
1. How is using the layer mask to blend it in different from just using ther eraser tool to erase parts of it?

I don't get the impression you fully understand the concept of the layer mask. Using a brush on the layer mask does nothing to the layer itself. Think of it like a window through which you see the layer. Paint part of the window black and you can't see the layer underneath. Scrape the paint off, and voila. You now see again what was there.
