Stationery location for new templates
I created a new folder of stationery and placed it in the same location as the other Apple stationery templates. I updated the table of contents as well as the other pertinent stuff like English.lproj, and they are listed and operate perfectly.
However now I'm wondering if future OS updates will overwrite the Resources folder there (which would restore it back to only the Apple default categories). Does anyone know if they are safe there, or should I put them by themselves in the ~Library path? And if so, do I still list it in the main table of content.plist which resides in the main path? thanks.
Well, I'll just forget about the rationale for the change in Folder organization. I will assume that the new one will be around for a while. Now the question arises, how can older projects be restructured so they conform to the new organization? (I have some older projects, all under revision control using git, that I want to reorganize.)

I just upgraded OSX to Mountain Lion and Pages to 4.2, and because OSX is syncing with my iCloud account, when I go to save a new file in Pages it defaults to try to save to my iCloud account rather than giving me the folder structure on my hard-drive that I prefer. It requires two extra steps to save to the proper place in my Documents folder on my hard drive.
Is there a way to reset the default so that when I go to save a new file, the folder structure opens to the last saved folder (like it does in other non-iCloud applications) rather than defaulting to my iCloud, and to do it without just removing documents from my iCloud account entirely?
I checked the Preferences for both Pages and iCloud and found nothing about this.What I meant is turn off Documents and Data in iCloud in OS X. Keep it on on your iOS devices. iCloud will sync documents between the iOS devices and make them available on the iCloud web site, but it won't mess up iWorks' open and save dialog boxes. It also won't assume that you want all your documents in iCloud, which I think is undesirable anyway.
Keep iOS and OS X separate, and use the web site to move files between the two as necessary.
iOS iWork is different from OS X iWork. There are fewer fonts on an iOS device. iOS iWork programs have slightly different feature sets than OS X iWork programs, and the file formats are different. iCloud automatically converts the file format when necessary, but if you make a habit of saving things directly to iCloud, you are limited to the lowest common denominator between the two versions of iWorks. So why would anyone want iWork on the Mac to open and save documents on iCloud by default?
If you want to store files in the cloud and sync them on your Macs, SugarSync is a much better solution. It lets you choose your sync folders, it doesn't make you reorganize your files, it lets you sync all file types, it doesn't convert files to a different format and back, and it stores everything in the cloud, too. Just the simle act of saving a file backs it up and syncs it. I wouldn't live without it. iCloud is best with iTunes purchases and synchronizing Mac settings and iOS files; I woudln't live without it. The two make an unbeatable combination. -

I'm trying to locate for a template in an image, and the image is threshold-ed. I tried to threshold both the template and the image to try if it can locate the template, but there was an error, it said that the template has not enough contrast or something like that? Please help me, thank you.

2012R2 VDI how to change "local virtual desktop creation location" for collection
Hi,
I want to change "local virtual desktop creation location" for existing collection but this setting is grayed. This location is not exists anymore and I cannot add new VM's to collection.
If there is no way to do this if it possible to create new collection and move old VM's there?

I assume that you mean virtual desktop storage location, which I don’t think that we can change this setting for an existing collection.
You can create a new collection, during the creation process, you will be able to select a different storage location for new VMs.

Location of User Template - English.lproj for AD Plugin
When OSX creates accounts on a local machine, it pulls the default set of account folders (/Library, /Pictures, /Music, etc) from /System/Library/User Template/English.lproj/... This is an excellent way to pre-configure new user accounts with specific prefs, etc.
When setting up the AD plugin to authenticate from an AD server, one checks the "Use UNC path from Active Directory to derive network home location" button to have the users' home folder mounted as a sharepoint from whatever is specified in the AD for the user. This works as expected for both WIN and OSX users.
BUT
New users' home folders (empty) are populated with a /Library folder which does not come from /System/Library/User Template/English.lproj/...
Can anybody point me to 'real' location of these template files?

When you select "new" "My Templates" should be at the bottom of the Sidebar.
The second line is in your bio and appears when asking a question. You can change it by clicking on bunnygrl to open your Bio to edit. -

Sysprep is always used during deployment of the new VM from the VM Template you have prepared/customized before.
So first you have to prepare vanilla install of 2008/2012 server as VM ... reconfigure it for your needs and once you have finished
you have to convert (ensile it) this VM to the Template from which you will deploy as many new VMs as you want...
Sysprep will come to the process right at the VM deployment phase during Deploy Template Wizard where you have 3 options:
• Do not customize - this options will not change any OS settings they remain the same as in source machine (Template)
• Customize using the Customization Wizard - any custom option it this wizard will trigger sysprep procces inside newly deployed VM after its first Power On...
• Customize using an existing customization specification - same as above using previously created and saved customnization

You are running or invoking sysprep proccess always after you already have VM Template ready using Customization Wizard/Existing cutomization specification.
When you choose Do not customize option SID remains the same as in source VM/Template so you will have then SID duplicity in your environment...
Just in addition if you chose Do not customize or uncheck SID change option in the Cust.Wizard duplicated SID its not an issue if your VMs
are part of Active Directory domain and also if you using mainly AD accounts.
If your VMs are just a part of a Workgroup and local accounts are used you can have a problems with ACLs on files/folders for more on that topic see:

I just statred Flash CC for the first time and it seems that the text within the pop-up window (dialog box) is mis-aligned and not allowing me access to the command buttons, nor all the text. (ie: the NEW Template Box, can't see but 2/3 of the content) is there a fix to this problem? using 8.1, Monitor is a high res.2560x1440.

I just upgraded my mac book to 10.6.8 and downloaded the new version of itunes. When I try to open it and error message appears saying, "The iTunes Library file cannot be found or created. The default location for this file is in the "iTunes" folder in the "Music" folder."
I have tried a few things but iTunes closes right after i click okay. Anyone know anything?Look in your Home > Music folder. There should be an iTunes folder there and it should have a number of files and folders including one called library.itl You want to guide iTunes to that file. If you don't see that file or folder then in your next post you will have to be very specific as to what you do see or how you have your iTunes set up because that's where it should be according to default settings.

How Do I Create a New Template for iBooks Author?
Apple's provided templates are way too narrow for some of the ideas I want to implement. I do not see any real method for creating a template from scratch. I stripped one of the available templates down to nothing and rebuilt some of the pages and then selected Save As Template... but iBooks Author keeps the original template as the content instead of allowing me to use my own created Chapter, Section, and Pages with the Add Pages.. Button.
How to you create a new template from scratch? I think it is absurd if you can only create a new template from one of the 6 predefined templates.Be careful on unlocking and deleting stuff, cause this very easily can destroy the layout and your current arrangement

Chez moi, il y en a une kyrielle en dehors des dossiers standards parce que je renomme wxcvb.template quasiment tous mes documents Pages et wxcvb.nmbtemplate à peu près tous mes documents Numbers.
Ainsi, quand je travaille sur un document, je ne suis pas ralenti par Autosave.

If it's the "Templates for Numbers Pro" on the Mac App Store then you need OSX 10.7 or later. You'll need iWork '09 or later.
It looks as if you want to use the iOS version of the same templates then you will need the latest Numbers there. And if you use the latest Numbers there and want to sync to the Mac, you'll need to have Mavericks and Numbers 3.
