Status and Tracking customizing + BI Integrated Planning

Hi,
I am trying to set up a Status and Tracking (STS) solution for our Integrated planning application. I understand this might be somewhat cumbersome, as STS is created for BPS - but still SAP has said it should work for BI-IP aswell.
I see I have to make use of Planning Areas. Even though we are using BI-IP, I quickly created a plan.area i BPS0 based on one of our real-time cubes. My problem appears in the 3rd "step" of the STS customizing where I am to "Determine a hierarchy for Subplan".
I get the error: "Error when reading the hierarchy" after filling out the fields... Any ideas?? Does it have to be a BPS-type hierarchy. There is nothing wrong with our hierarchy (as we use it for planning and reporting etc), so I cannot understand the error.
Any ideas?

Hi,
we're using a multi-characteristic hierarchy for STS for our cost center planning. Our STS hierarchy has then one root text node, a misc business unit node below (that's your single characteristic node), a range of profit centers under that and finally the cost centers.
Actual Planning is only done on the cost centers, but since we derive the profit center from the cost center, a profit center leader can lock planning for all subordinate cost centers by locking his profit center if the cc/pc association written to the cube matches the STS hierarchy.
In the case of your profit center hierarchy, you'd probably have the root text node, then some bogus profit center you don't do any planning on, and underneath all remaining profit centers. Instead of the first profit center you could probably also use the controlling area as a characteristic (how many do you have?)
Bear in mind that any characteristic you have in the hierarchy needs to appear in the planning area and hence in the infocube.

    Yes you can use the STS for BI IP also and you need to configure the Planning level and sub plan area and follow the steps to set up STS.
    STS still has BPS flavour and can be used in IP.

  • Status and Tracking and Additonal Information

    I am trying to change the Additional Information text available in Detail Page of Planning in Status and Tracking. By default I see the text available under UPS_START_RUNDE description.
    I tried to create custom text based on documentation available for Maintaining Text with Additional Information, but with no success. Also documentation does not specify it needs to be assigned based on reason code in table UPS_CUSTTEXT.  So not sure how to change this default text.
    Any ideas?

    I could able to resolve this issue myself, I missed assigning my newly created text objcet in STS configuration setting: Determine Attributes in Planning Session -> Text Element (assigned by own text object created)

  • Status and Tracking

    Can anyone explain me the use of Status and Tracking in Integrated Planning
    I read few help.sap links but cannot get a clear picture of when and how it is needed during the project.
    Any help is appreciated!

    In order to use status and tracking, even with BW IP,  you do need to create a simple planning area in the transaction BPS0, even if you are using integrated planning.  A planning area is simply a BPS connection to a infocube. This creates the connection for integrated planning to use the cube. However, no further customization in BPS0 is then needed (i.e. there is no need to create variables, character relationships, or any other specifications on any of the further planning area tabs.)

    Yes, it is a bit of a throw back, but it is a very quick step.
    As for the hierarchy used for status and tracking, there are very specific rules governing the hierarchy used for STS. 
    (1) It must have a single text node as its root,
    (2) below the text node it must have a single infoobject node that all other infoObject nodes roll up to. 
    (3) Also, the hierarchy must only contain the base infoObject of the hierarchy (no other infoObjects)
    (4) and it can not contain link nodes.
    I believe that this is the basic structure is modeled off of the employee hierarchy from ECC.   Since the planning in status in tracking is done by employee, the status and tracking hierarchy is a hierarchy of  approvals, not data views (the data view hierarchies can be shown in your Integrated Planning queries).

  • Status and Tracking System Authorization Objects

    Hello,
    I'm having questions on how to create roles for users to access the Status and Tracking System.
    I've assigned the following Authorization Objects to my user
    R_STS_PT
    Activity: 16 Execute
    Subplan: *
    Planning sequence: *
    R_STS_CUST
    Activity: 16 Execute
    R_STS_SUP
    Activity: 16 Execute
    And still when i try to execute STS (T-Code: BPS_STS_START) or Customize (T-Code: BPS_TC) i get an error saying "Without Authorization for the transaction BPS_STS_START" and "Without Authorization for the transaction BPS_TC"!
    Can anyone help me, please! Waht am i missing?

    Still i have some other questions that you or someone can help me.
    By now, my Planning Coordinator can already access to BPS_TC, and my Planning Responsible access to BPS_STS_START.
    The "normal" users must onle have the Authorization Object R_STS_PT.
    I still have this issue that i'm not getting at.
    I have created a user where i've assigned total access to Execute STS and Customizing.
    Assigned the 2 transactions BPS_TC and BPS_STS_START and gave them the Auth. Objects R_STS_SUP and R_STS_CUST.
    Issue: When my user tries to "Define Subplan" and "Define Planning Session" i get this error:
    "No maintenance authorization for requested data
    Message no. SV052
    Diagnosis
    You have attempted, in change mode, to access data for which you have no authorization."
    Can anyone help me on this please.

  • Changing Look and Feel - BPS status and tracking system

    HI,
    I 'd like to know if there is a way to customize the web page that appears when you launch the transaction BPS_STS_START (Starts BPS Status and Tracking System). I believe that it's an automatically generated page, that takes from somewhere an html template. Is there a way to change that html template?
    For example, how could I insert a logo, insert titles, change fonts, etc.
    I 'll appreciate if somebody send me some related documentation.

    Hi Christian,
    the STS is a BSP-Application(have a look at TA SE80).
    You can copy this BSP to your own customer-namespace(YTUNGUSKA) and you can change all pages and views you would like. You can integrate other stylesheets, logos or you can modify the logic of events triggered by buttons and so on. Please note: If you copy the TUNGUSKA you cannot use anymore the TA BPS_STS_START cause it only will start the BSP TUNKUSKA(its hardcoded), build up your own transaction.

  • Session Out Error in Status and Tracking System (BPS) Execution

    Hi,
    I am getting the Session timed out error in Status and Tracking System (Open Planning). The reason I found is:
    In STS (Configuratioin) the web link that I have added is valid for one time. Meaning that ever time I visit Web Interface Builder (Execution), it is generating a different web link. Therefore, it is only valid for a single time.
    Is there any way, that I can make the web string that is generated every time I visit Web Interface Builder (Execution) for a particular report, so that I can use that web link in the configuration of STS (Open Planning). In this case the web link every time that generated is dynamic.
    But, this is not the case with Open Report. I prepared a query and attached the web link of the query into (Open Report). The number of times even if I open the report, there is no issue as the web link is static.
    Any inputs on this will be appreciated.

    This has been solved.
    In STS Configuration the web link (URL) that is to be inserted is not the web link that has dynamically generated. However, it is the web link (URL) on the Web Interface Builder (WIB) - Property - URL BSP Application.
    If you use this URL in the STS (Open Report), this will ask the User for User ID and Password to reach that Web Planning Layout and a dynamic code will then be generated. Every time, user visits it generates new dynamic URL.

    dear all,
    Trying to implement status and tracking for the planning application we have made.
    In our planning application there is Material on which planning is done.
    For 0MATERIAL , i myself have created an heirarchy.While creating an heirarchy i created a text node 'ZNODE1'.Under that i inserted a Material node Dummy material.Under that i inserted three material nodes: M1,M2,M3.
    Now there are 4 persons: A,B,C and D.
    'A' responsible for all the three materials.That is he will be approving the plan data by 'B', 'C' and 'D'.
    'B' responsible for M1, 'C' for M2 and 'D' for M3.
    Now when 'A' logs in he should be able to see the plans of all the three whereas when 'B','C' or 'D' logs in he should be able to see only the layout for which he is responsible.
    I created a subplan , planning session and assigned heirarchy name for material.What i expect is the display should be based on the user who is logging in.But in my case whoever is the user he is able to see all the layouts.
    How could i restrict the layouts based on the user login ?
    Please suggest.

    Will it work not in 3.5 but in NW2004s?
    I'll try to clear situation: we are upgrading SEM 3.1B to NW2004s BI
    It worked in 3.1 but now get errors:
    Diagnosis
    The system was not configured for SAP logon tickets:
    At least one of the two parameters login/create_sso2_ticket and login/accept_sso2_ticket currently has the value 0.
    System Response
    It is not possible to use SAP logon tickets.
    Therefore, there is also no single sign-on support when using SAPGUI HTML Control and calling local ICF services (see SAP note 612670).
    It looks like integration between JAVA and ABAP.
    That's why I want to know - should I try to solve this problem without JAVA ot it's impossible?
    I saw similar problem in another message (Status and Tracking System and JAVA AS), but it's still not answered

  • Present Status button  is unusable  in Status and Tracking System

    Hi everybody:
      In Status and Tracking System  the   Present Status is unusable. It involved  set for processing ,send for approval and retrieve .  They are all unusable. They are not  locked, but are gray !

    What sort of user is this for? If a Super user, press the Edit button first.
    If another user, or this action does not enable the buttons, probably another user is blocking. Click on the 'status' link to check.

  • CCA and PCA retraction in Integrated Planning

    Hi all,
    Please I need some orientation about CCA an PCA retraction when you are using Integrated planning.
    I read blogs about CCA retraction (made by Praveen Mayalur) and was very helpfull, but it only refers a planning scenario using BW-BPS, and I don't have the same structure to send the data in the integrated planning.
    I had looked in SDN and SAP portal, and I can't find anything about it.

    Hi
    1) Retraction are driven by BPS, IP is not equipped with Retraction.
    2) Cost Center & Internal Order Retraction should be configured through in BPS--> Planning Area; Planning Level, Planning Function; Parameter Group.
    3) You need to configure Source Structure, based on business requirement you need to ensure that the retraction happens either in CO Currency or Transaction Currency.
    4) Try to use the SAP Standard Function Modules for Cost Center and Internal Order Retraction. Refrain from copying & modifying the same.
    go through the Cost Center Retraction relevant documents and they are very helpful.
    5) Function Modules for Profit Center Retraction are not available in ECC due to the New GL Concept.
    6) If possible advise the Business to use "File Upload" for Profit Center Data.

  • Status And Tracking Issue - BI-IP

    Dear Friends
    We have configured STS and entered planning data at lower level (Bottom Up Planning) and pressed Send For Approval Button.
    It is disabled now as per the procedure higher level will approve but why Approval Button is enabled here? (this is lower level who
    entered planning data, he will not have Approval Status and next higher level must get Approval Button enabled.
    Also after pressing button Send For Approval, again i am able to edit planning which should not be. (Data is not locked?)
    STS Lock Data Slice also configured and in Active.

    Note 1066309 contains corrections to all SPs of NW version 7.00 and 7.10. If on those versions try that Note for a solution.
