Status Bar (top right) in 10.6X - how do control sequence of ICONS?

top right bar (i think its called status bar) -- how do i control the sequence?
they appear to opening in different order
can i change the word "charged" to a visual queue to indicate CHARGED versus take up so much space with word "charged?
why a problem?
i have so many on the bar, the last ones opened are getting hidden, when i have an app that has lots of menu bar item?

Cmd-drag them to the order you want. This will definitely work for Apple icons such as iMessages, Bluetooth, etc - may not work consistently for the third-party icons.
If you don't need an icon (eg, Bluetooth), just cmd-drag it off the menubar. For third-party apps, you'll need to check their preferences to see if there's a way to disable the icon.

Well first off you shouldn't have had to pay for a download (just an assumption from the word "purchased".
If you are trying to install iOS 5 on your iPod touch, it won't work they arent compatible. I suggest checking what version of software you are trying to install and posting it in this forum so people can have a better understanding.

HOW DO GET RID of US flag CHARECTER on TASK bar, top RIGHT?

I don;t know, somehow I was messing around with Charecters, now there is a US flag that boots up on the top right, right beside the monitor symbol...wonder how to remove items from that docking area (2 over from the clock/spotlight).

An even easier way to get rid of it (or to get rid of any menu bar item) is to hold down the command key and drag the item off the menu bar.

Lock symbol is rotation lock : depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can lock rotation either by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon; press home again to exit the taskbar. Assuming you are using Safari...
Click View from the Safari menu bar then click: Customize Toolbar.

For the javascript content I am developing, the "hide status bar" option needs to be enabled; how do I access this option for FF4? If I cannot enable this option, can you provide tips on how I might get the page to run?

I am working with datango producer (see datango.com) which depends on JavaScript to set up the training player that runs simulation content. Datango's browser check recognizes that I am running FF4.0, but indicates I should change the setting to hide the status bar, yet I cannot access that setting under Options > Content > Advanced JavaScript Settings. I could suggest an update to the preflight checks, but am not sure what to tell them. Can you help?

Try 1 of 2 things.
Double tap the Home Button on the iPad > you should see the Dock tray with your apps in > hold on iBooks until you see the app jiggleing with a red circle and white line > tap that red circle > re-opoen iBooks.
If that does not work repeat above but do not open iBooks after you close it, now power off your iPad and turn it back on. You can power it off by holding the power button on top of the device for about 5-10 seconds.

How to control sequence of Function Modules processed in update task?

Hello,
I've some questions regarding following process that needs to be extended: a Function Module (FM) 'Save' calls several other FM e.g. 'X1' and 'X2' in update task. Those update modules are independent from each other and write data to the database that finalize the save process.
Now a third FM 'X3' needs to be called in update task. This one is also independent from 'X1' and 'X2' but it calls a further FM 'X4' in background task as separate unit which starts a job. This job requires the data from FM 'X1' and 'X2' already persistent on the database. By the way: the FM 'X3' triggers the Access Control Engine (ACE) notification that calculates the authorization data in the mentioned job. Therefore this process needs to be the last FM call in update task in the queue of calls in FM 'Save'.
Questions:
(1) Is it possible to control the process sequence of the FM 'in update task' simply by the sequence they are called in FM 'Save'.
(2) Presumed that all FM beside 'X3' have processing type "Update with immediate start" or "Immediate start, no restart" (in short V1) would it be another solution to specify FM 'X3' with type 'Delayed' to control the process sequence? When a delayed FM will be processed?
(3) Is it uncritical to call in FM 'X3' (already running in update task) the FM 'X4' with addition in background task as separate unit that furthermore starts a job by an event? I'm afraid that this nesting could lead to unexpected errors.

Access Airport Utility from Status Bar?

Hello - is there any clever way to enable access of "Airport Utility" from the WIFI Icon in my status bar (top right toolbar)?
The WIFI icon has option "open network preferences" but nothing to open Airport Utility.
If I hold the option and click the WIFI Icon, I get WIFI diagnostics, but no Airport Utility.
i would really like to remove Airport Utitlity from my dock but access with 1 click.

LaPastenague - you likely help heaps of people - but its me again, I am opening and closing Airport Utilty alot to check connectivity as I am still experiencing the slow web page loads. I did the Iv6 link-only as you last helped me. I am the person in bridge-mode on the Time Capcule.
I have also noticed I am seeing "noresult " in my Finder/Path Finder window when I search on my HD or 2TB Time Capscule I use as an external drive. Then the results appear. So something is not right.
What i have been doing more regularly to help with my "slow page load problem", is turning off the ISP's wireless router and then wait 10min and back on. This brings town TC as its bridged.
What I have noticed, when I open up Airport Utility first, it says Internet is "disconnected". But in my WIFI Icon it shows all good. Then after a while it shows Internet connected.

What I have read, is perhaps I should remove the 4 DNS settings and back to one. The ISP gave me the 4 DSN settings and asked me to put them in, in attempt to improve slow page load speed.

Nothing in the status bar

I'm new to Flash and this question is very basic, but I
couldn't find its answer in the archives.
I created buttons that link to other websites or pages and
they work fine. However when the pointer is over the button,
nothing shows in the status bar of the browser (Safari, Firefox,
IE). I tried the "on rollover" action, but I can not find the right
action script or behavior that will lead to show the link in the
status bar. Can anyone tell me how to do it?

Interactivity in Flash is different than in HTML. Nothing
will show in the browser status bar when you roll over a Flash
button, as you have already discovered. There is nothing wrong;
that's how it works. There may be some java or XML scripts that
will accomplish what you want, but that's beyond my knowledge.
You can make you own little pop-up graphic to show the link
destination and place it on the second frame of each button's
timeline. Then that will show only when the user does a rollover.
Not the solution you're looking for. But the only solution I know
of.

Status bar question-applet !!

I wrote an applet (below) that is supposed (among other things) to write to the status bar but what happens is that "Applet started." always overwrites the text I'm trying to write to the status bar. Why is that and how can I fix that? The code is:

Now that the "Status Bar" is gone, is there a way to hide the "status notification" (bottom left corner) when a page loads? This is on Windows & FF5/6

The so called "Status Bar" has apparently gone away since FF4, I'm now onto 6 I think, on my work machine. But one of the things I liked about the Status Bar was that it could be hidden entirely.
With no Status Bar, now when a page is loaded in FF, you get a floating "Status Notification" in the bottom left corner for a second or two while the page is loading (this even happens in FullScreen F11, something I never had to deal with when the Status Bar existed).
What I want to know is, is there a way to turn off this "Status Notification" entirely? A setting somewhere? Something in About:config? I haven't been able to find anything.

Wifi status bar says No service

I have a wireless connection at home that works fine with both my imac and my laptop. I'm trying to use the same wifi connection for my ipad- however ever since i got the ipad it's not able to recognize any wifi sygnal. There is "no service" on the status bar (top left corner) at all times. I tried reseting network settings already. I bought the ipad in the U.S. and brought it back to UK. Does that have anything to do with it ? Please advise.

Wi-fi is uses a universal standard and is the same for all devices regardless of country of origin.
I take you have turned the wi-fi on in Settings -> Wi-Fi and let the iPad scan for available connections. Then chosen your home network. When you do this what happens ? Does it ask for a key/password ?

That is the orientation lock indicator. It means that you phone will not go into landscape mode when tilted on it's side.
To turn orientation lock off double tap the home button, to access the multitasking menu, then swipe your finger to the right over the multitasking bar at the bottom and touch the big button on the left with the padlock.

Screen orientation lock. Double click the home button to bring up the recent app bar. Then finger swipe left-to-right to bring up the iPod controls. The icon on the far left (circle with lock in it) is the orientation lock button - press it, and the lock will go away.
