Status code 404

I've deployed a web application to a hosting provider. The application works on my local machine but when I try to run the application from the hosted server I see the 404 error page produced by Tomcat. ETA - I know that 404 means resource not found. Tomcat is unable to find the resource requested by the client.
It's been a long time since I've wrestled with something like this and I'm wondering how to debug this. How should I investigate where I've gone wrong? What sorts of things should I look for? Feeling like a brain drain.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I managed to resolve this by simply redeploying my application. It turns out the war wasn't really being unpacked by Tomcat. So I deleted the original directory and redeployed the war file and it expanded properly and I no longer get a 404 code as response to the request.

    Hi,
    The 'Communication Channel' in Integration Builder was not configured right in the 'Service Number' field. There was a J2EE port instead of HTTP port.
    J2EE port: 5<instance number>00
    HTTP port: 80<instance number>
    Good luck to everyone,
    Dimitry

    Result: I am getting status code of 404. I am not able to figure out why it is happening.
    FYI, Using `WinINet`,  I have followed the same procedure, I am getting status code of 200, which is success. But my requirement is to use only `WinHttp`.
    Could any one please help me out to solve this issue. This is very urgent for me.

    Dear Henri,
    Thanks for your reply, it was really very helpful.
    I debugged
    HTTP session with Fiddler,
    I am getting certificate error.
    When I say 'Yes' in Fiddler, I am getting 200 success.
    Could you please help me out how to
    "Ignore certificate errors" using WinHTTP
    API's.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Best Regards,
    Siva

  • MBAM 2.5 integration broke my Primary Site Server - Managment Point http status code 404, not found

    I uninstalled MBAM 2.0 and installed MBAM 2.5. During 2.5 installation there was this one section to enter "Web service application pool domain account", where I entered domain admin account. I don´t know if that has any effect on this problem.
    Though, situation now is that my site is now out of order because of Management Point cannot connect to IIS or something like that.
    In status messages I see "MP Control Manager detected management point is not responding to HTTP requests.  The HTTP status code and text is 404, Not Found. Message ID 5436".
    In mpcontrol.log I see Call to HttpSendRequestSync failed for port 80 with status code 404, text: Not Found
    I have tried:
    Bindings checked, that http uses port 80
    MP component is uninstalled and reinstalled succsessfully
    Primary site server has restarted several times
    In IIS, Default Site -> SMS_MP->Basic Settings I did "Test Settings". With pass-through authentification it cannot Access the D:\SMS_CCM path, I changed to the domain admin, and it succseed. I have no idea, does this have something to do
    with it.

    I have experienced all the above problems also and they can be a pain to fix. I guess the moral of the story is (as Andy says) leave the ConfigMgr server alone. If you want an MBAM server then build an MBAM server.

    Hmm, I guess ConfMgr integration will not be the problem if your MP is using http(80) and MBAM will use https(443). If you then set spn to https, it will use 443 as-is, right? But other custom ports might be the problem?

    Hi Michal,
    Thanks for your response! I followed the instruction on question 17, and recheck my configuration of the integration engines (for client 105/106/107 as stated in the SAp demo), and change the 'Corresponding Inte. Server" back to the format "dest://<RFC destination for inte. server>". I had that initially, and decided to try using the entire http path (http://<local_host:J2EE port>/sap/xi/engine/?type=entry). Neither of them worked.
    Do I need to restart or reactivate any components after I changed the corresponding integration server value after the configuration?
    Since the above did not work, so I went back to the possible root cause (Integration Server RFC destination). I have set up the integration server RFC destination in client 100, with the following parameters:
    Under Technical Settings:
    Host: <local_host>
    path prefix: /sap/xi/engine/?type=entry
    service no.: 5<instance>00
    Under Logon/Security:
    Logon Precedure: chose Basic Authentication
    Client: 100
    Login ID : XIAPPLUSER
    Afterwards, I did the "Test Connection", and it returns the 404 error.
    In addition, on the application systems side (in the demo, the case will be client 105/106/107), I have ensured the business systems are set to "application system".
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks much!
    Regards,
    Cyanna

    We've done all the neccesary settings and we're using "org.bouncycastle.jce.provider.BouncyCastleProvider " as a JCE provider.
    Thank you!

    Just a guess, but if this is a secure web service shouldn't you be trying to connect to it using SSL? e.g.
    https://localhost:443/securesimple/Ping
    Have you tried hitting the web service via your browser and appending the ?WSDL to the URL
    http://localhost:8080/securesimple/Ping?WSDL
    https://localhost:443/securesimple/Ping?WSDL
    Can you telnet to http://localhost:8080

    Issue has been resolved. There is no tric. My suggestion is before going to test any rest full service over the browser, If we test at sb console level at least we can trace the error.
    you may get this fault when your web service has any syntax problem or validation problem or condition failing .so we can get this problem...

  • Error executing RDS command. Status Code:404

    The following problem really made crazy. I worked it for a whole day and still didn't figure it out. could someone help me ? Thanks a million.
    I created a project using this way:
    and select a tomcat server 6.0.*
    and my RDS configuration in my web.xml is this:
    part of my web.xml
    <servlet>
            <servlet-name>RDSDispatchServlet</servlet-name>
            <display-name>RDSDispatchServlet</display-name>
            <servlet-class>flex.rds.server.servlet.FrontEndServlet</servlet-class>
            <init-param>
                <param-name>useAppserverSecurity</param-name>
                <param-value>false</param-value>
            </init-param>
            <load-on-startup>10</load-on-startup>
        </servlet>
        <servlet-mapping id="RDS_DISPATCH_MAPPING">
            <servlet-name>RDSDispatchServlet</servlet-name>
            <url-pattern>/CFIDE/main/ide.cfm</url-pattern>
        </servlet-mapping>
    when I created my flex project, and added it to the server using the way of Add web module... . After that, I started my server, and changed to this view:
    I clicked "Connect to Data/Service..." and selected the service type "BlazeDS". When the Flash  Builder popped up a Authentication window, I checked "No password required" and clicked the OK button, and then, the problem comes out.
    Any clues for this problem? Thank you.

    With all the problems people have with this error, you'd think there would be a FAQ about it. is this it? no answers?
    no one knows why this happens with eclipse/FB4 on a windows xp system? is this the kind of support you get from Adobe?
    this is EXTREMELY frustrating!!!!!!! please Adobe,HHHEELLPPP!!!!!

  • Error executing RDS command. Status Code : 404 , Reason : Not Found

    Anyone know how I would resolve this error?

    There can be any number of reasons. First would if the RDS feature is disabled on the server you’re connecting to. Second, that web server (if you are using one) could be configured to block RDS requests (or perhaps even all requests to url’s with CFIDE in them). You could address those, but before you do, please do share more about your use of CFB.
    To be clear, are you meaning to intentionally use the feature in CFB where you define a server (and optionally connect a project to that server), so that you can use features to allow you to access server resources (database info, CFC, and more) from within CFB? You would typically only do that in connecting to a development server. Just want to know what your intentions are before leading you to enable something on a server that you don’t really need.
    And while we await those answers, and whether the first paragraph may get you going to a solution, is this CF server something you’re connecting to (the RDS url) using the server’s external web server (like IIS or Apache, such as is typical if you have no port in the URL), or via CF’s built-in web server (such as is typical when you have a port like 8500 in the URL)? That may be important in helping to solve your problem.
    For instance, if the server (and the URL you’re using) uses IIS, then if you visited the URL for RDS in a browser on the server itself, you may get a much more clear explanation of the problem (since by default, IIS shows more details for requests made ON the sever itself than it does for requests from off the server). The RDS URL (which is generated by the RDS feature in CFBuilder, not something you normally type) is /CFIDE/main/ide.cfm, so append that to the domain or IP address of the server you have configured CFBuilder to use, and see what more detail you may get in your browser.

  • How do I set the response status code for a request in ADF?

    For example:
    I have a page accessible like page.jspx?id=$ID, in which $ID identifies an object stored in a database. The user navigates to page.jspx?id=abc. abc does not exist or has been deleted. I wish to set the response status code to 404 for the page request, like, for instance, https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=abc does. How do I do this?
    PS: Changing the status code for subsequent partial submits on the page if the object is deleted while the user is on the page (e.g. if the user attempts to delete an already deleted object through a "Delete" button on the page) may also be desirable, but would probably not fit in as well with the ADF lifecycle or be as useful.

    Maybe I should be more specific about the current state of the code. It's something functionally similar in relevant portions to the following. For the purposes of this code, assume the ID maps only to a name, rather than a more complicated object:
    page.jspx looks like:
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?>
    <jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page"
         xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"
         xmlns:af="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/rich"
         xmlns:trh="http://myfaces.apache.org/trinidad/html" version="1.2">
         <jsp:directive.page contentType="text/html;charset=utf-8" />
         <f:view>
              <af:document binding="#{pageInitializer.dummyComponent}" title="#{pageData.name != null ? pageData.name : 'Object Not Found'}">
                   <af:outputText rendered="#{pageData.name != null}" value="#{pageData.name}" />
                   <af:outputText rendered="#{pageData.name == null}" value="No object was found at this URL." />
              </af:document>
         </f:view>
    </jsp:root>pageInitializer and pageData are pageFlow-scoped beans with the following code:
    class PageInitializer {
         @Inject private PageData pageData;
         @Inject private NameDao nameDao;
         @PostConstruct
         void initialize() {
              String name = nameDao.getNameById(FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getRequestParameterMap().get("id"));
              if (name != null)
                   pageData.setName(name);
              else
                   // TODO: Set status code 404
         public void setDummyComponent(UIComponent dummyComponent) {
         public UIComponent getDummyComponent() {
              return null;
    public class PageData {
         private String name;
         public String getName() {
              return name;
         public void setName(String name) {
              this.name = name;
    }The code initializes the data from the database through the initilaizer of a pageFlow-scoped bean with a dummy setter for the document because I read somewhere that that would work, and it seems to work, even though it seems hacky.
    Ideally, the code would render the 404 where it currently says (// TODO: Set status code 404). I realize this may not even be possible given the current architecture, because part of the response body has already been rendered, and I believe, but cannot find a source to cite, that the status code and headers cannot be set after the body has started being rendered. Is there any architecture that would get me this page's functionality (even if it's two JSPXs on the backend (which might be ideal)) and be able to render a 404 for an inexistent object?

  • AdControl error: HTTP error status code: NotFound (404)

    For over a week now, a Silverlight WP 8 app with an AdControl configured for "test_client" continues to report this error and thus no bing ad visible either while running from an emulator (8.1 512) or from a WP 8 device. If I change the AdUnit

    Could the ad server not be responding to the "test_client"?
    Could someone let me know if it has worked recently for them? I tried contacting MS and no one seems to have an app configured with the test ad... I could give MS so many helpful suggestions. But looking at the hundreds of un-answered posts here - I

    The J2EE server might be overburdened and cannot accept the call. The 'Receive'servlet is not called. You will find further details on the HTTP status code definitions under "http://www.w3.org". Check the accessibility of the server by calling: http://<hostname>:<port>/MessagingSystem/receive/AFW/XI.
    The Listener Beans of the affected connection (AFW, Marketplace, BC,see above) were not registered or the log-specific Event Handler was not found.
    Check out this trouble shooting guide for SAP XI...Section 7.4.4.4 talks about exactly the same problem:-

    HI Anulraja,
    Your Adapter Engine searches the pipeline url of the integration engine from the SLD.
    Check the Bussiness System in Sld , which you'll have defined for XI Server.
    It should have ROLE : Integration Server And
    pipeline url: http://ux0800:55300/sap/xi/engine?type=entry
    should be this if your http port is 55300.
    Check if this url is right in SLD-Bussiness System.
    You can check the exact http port in transaction sxmb_adm.
    Go to Integration engine configuration and then click on check icon(F7).
    It should match with that provided in the BS in SLD.
    By default it should be 8000.
    Check all these things and then try.

  • WLS 8.1 Apache Plug-in is changing HTTP status code 999 to 500

    I'm seeing the weblogic server 8.1 sp4 apache plug-in change the HTTP status code of 999 (set by the application) to 500 Internal Server Error. I'm seeing this with Apache 2.0.48 on aix and with Apache 2.0.58 on windows. I've tried the plug-in from 8.1 SP2, SP4 and SP6 with all yielding the same result. I've tried the SSL plug-in too - same result. I'm told by the maker of this application that they are not seeing this issue with the plug-in for SunOne/NES. What does BEA say about the Apache plug-in changing the http status code? Why is it doing this? Why doesn't the SunOne/NES plug-in do it? Can you provide a plug-in that does not do this?

    Try setting
    Debug ALL
    inside your IfModule. All proxy activity will be written to /tmp/wlproxy.log (on
    unixes). If no info appears in the log, Apache is not invoking the plug-in properly.

  • How to Implement HTTP Request Status Code Processing

    I actually have two questions. First, I wondering how to add multiple status code processing to an http request. Secondly, I was wondering how to go about using alternate http requests to different servers in case the primary server is down. What kind of parameter would the program use to determine that the server is unavailable and switch to another server??
    Currently, the program I've written calls an rdf server (http://www.rdfabout.com/sparql) using a sparql query,
    the server returns an xml string, the program parses it, and calculates numbers
    from the string. The program works, but the problem is that the server is down occasionally.
    When the server is down, we need to add calls to another server to
    increase reliability. So, the next task is to call this server:
    http://www.melissadata.com/lookups/ZipDemo2000.asp
    I need to do exactly the same things I did with the rdf server. The
    difference will be constructing a request and a bit different parsing of
    the response.
    current SPARQL query is defined as follows:
    PREFIX dc:  <http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/>
    PREFIX census: <http://www.rdfabout.com/rdf/schema/census/>
    PREFIX census1: <tag:govshare.info,2005:rdf/census/details/100pct/>
    DESCRIBE ?table WHERE {
    <http://www.rdfabout.com/rdf/usgov/geo/census/zcta/90292> census:details
    ?details .
    ?details census1:totalPopulation ?table .
    ?table dc:title "SEX BY AGE (P012001)" .
    }current HTTP Request is defined as follows:
    import java.net.*;
    import java.net.URL;
    import java.net.URLConnection;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.io.DataOutputStream;
    import java.io.BufferedReader;

    import java.io.InputStreamReader;
    import java.io.PrintStream;
    import java.util.Scanner;
    import java.util.regex.Matcher;
    import java.util.regex.Pattern;
    import java.util.Arrays;

            String response = "";

            URLConnection conn = url.openConnection();//opens connection to server
            // Set connection parameters.
            conn.setDoInput (true);
            conn.setDoOutput (true);
            conn.setUseCaches (false);
            // Make server believe we are form data…
            conn.setRequestProperty("Content-Type","application/x-www-form-urlencoded");
            DataOutputStream out = new DataOutputStream (conn.getOutputStream ());
            // Write out the bytes of the content string to the stream.
            out.writeBytes(requestPart1 + requestPart2 + requestPart3);
            out.flush ();
            out.close ();
            // Read response from the input stream.
            BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader (new InputStreamReader(conn.getInputStream ()));
            String temp;
            while ((temp = in.readLine()) != null)
                 response += temp + "\n";
            temp = null;
            in.close ();
            //parsing stuff is taken care of after here
    }What remains now is to:
    1) add status code processing: notify if the server is not available, ect.
    2) add ability to connect to additional server if primary server is down.
    I'm thinking an if/else statement, which I've tried a few different ways,
    but I don't quite know how to implement that...Also trying to add the
    status code processing/error handling, but I'm not sure how to do that
    for multiple/different errors, such as 404, 503, 504, ect.. try/catch statements?
    So yeah, just been scratching my head on this trying to figure out how to work it..
    If you can help me out on this, I've been going nuts trying to figure this out...

    I think your issue comes form the fact that you are not casting URLConnection to HttpURLConnection.
    Doing the cast would allow you to use getResponseCode() - among other methods - and test for a response different than 200.
