Hi,
I recently updated to OS X Yosemite, and since then, have noticed that the status icon in skype is cut in half. I'm seeing this on a 13" Retina MacBook Pro, screenshot attached.
Thanks,

  • Plug-In icon cut off under Tools/Plug-In

Using Reader X or Acrobat X my plug-in is cut off if I've left Tools/Plug-Ins expanded where I can see my icons and then leave Reader/Acrobat (exit/ X) and open another document (links from our page).  If I shrink Plug-ins down before leaving, this does not happen.
Anybody else run into this and is there a solution?  I've tried every Preference I can find and it doesn't change that behavior.

    Hi, my friend
What's the process of your researching? Any solution to solve the issue of ICON was cut-off in Tools pane? I got same issue now. My plug-in cannot be shown correctly in Tools pane. I don't know how to deal with this issue. Any guide to me?
    Thanks very much.

  • Apple tv Trailers "icon cut off"

Is there Any reason the apple icon seems to be cut in half when I watch trailers on Apple tv. My setting is at the 1080p setting, and i have a hd capable tv.

it's your TV that is doing that due to overscan.
see if your TV has a "just scan" or "1:1 pixel mapping" setting, that will turn the overscan off.

  • Text for icons cut off

Ever since the last update the text that labels the icons in Thunderbird are cut short if they have more than 4 letters (i.e. Pri... for Print and Del... for Delete and so on, and so on. It does not matter if you add a bunch of spaces or not, nor does it matter if you choose "Text and Icons" or "Icons beside Text". I would love to send you an image but the link on this page is now working for me to choose a file that shows you what I am talking about. What is does do is show the whole icon but I want both the Icon and Text showing. When you respond to this, at my included email address, I will be happy to attach the picture of my problem then.
So, I guess there are two problems for you to look at, the one where it is reducing the number of letters in each word of the Thunderbird programs Icons and why the "Browse" button on this Mozilla support request page does not work. When I mouse over the button it does turn from gray to a light gradiation (sp) blue and when I mouse click on it, it does turn a darker blue with a dark blue border along with the normal black border. It just does not open up a window to navigate to and select the picture I want to send to you that shows the problem with the partial words and Icons.

  • My MBP display is not working.  Need to move data to new MBP Retina.

    Hello.
My 3 yr old MBP display failed (display just showing vertical and horizontal lines).
I bought a new MBP Retina today.
Genius Bar told me to simply attach FireWire, then press "T" on old MBP to boot in Target Mode.
Then, look for old MBP HD icon on new MBP Retina desktop.
I cannot find old MBP icon on desktop.
I cannot transfer data from old MBP to new MBP Retina.
    Any help would be appreciated?
    Ken

Genius bar told you right - you need to start your old MBP up into target mode (booting while hold down the T key) but you need to have the right FireWire cable hooked up to the machines before you boot either. What year is your old model? Does it hve FW400 or FW800?
Here are the instructions from Apple - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1661. Take a look at it and see if it helps. Also make sure that you have the Finder set so that external and remote disks will show up on your Desktop. When the disk mounts you can either just copy over files or, if you want to transfer accounts and associated directories, use Migration Assistant in your Utilities folder to copy over the info.
Good luck - call back if it's not working.

  • IOS 8.2 update resulted in the bottom of my 6plus phone screen (the wording below the 5 icons - favorites, recent, contacts, etc.) being cut off.  Fix?

iOS 8.2 update resulted in the bottom of my 6plus phone screen (the wording below the 5 icons - favorites, recent, contacts, etc.) being cut off.  Fix?

    Hi there Melinda,
As I understand it, it seems like a part of the screen isn't visible at the bottom. I would start by quitting all the running apps on the iPhone:
iOS: Force an app to close
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
I would next check to see if an Accessibility option enabled making the screen larger with iTunes:
    Use Accessibility features in iOS
Connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to any computer with iTunes installed.
    In iTunes, select your device.
From the Summary pane, click > Configure Universal Access in the Options section at the bottom.
Select the feature you would like to use and click OK.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

Have you checked the macbook pro battery exchange page. A couple of months ago it became apparent that some batteries in macbook pros were faulty. check this site to see if your battery is one of the batteries request for exchagne. If it is Apple sends you a replacement battery and a return post bag wihtin a couple of working days.

  • Icon Text Cutting Off

I have just reinstalled tiger on my laptop and the icons sometimes act strangely in that the icons with a single line of text beneath, usually appear normal, though sometimes the bottom of the text is cut off. When I select the icons, and the coloured background that indicates that it is selected appears behind the text, the bottom of the coloured background/shape is also cut off. On the icons (folders, files) that have two lines of text, I can sometimes see the tops of some of the bottom line letters poking up through the cut off line, again when selected the background is also cut off. Any help would be much appreciated,
    Thanks.

I had a file appear in my root directory as a result of using quake 3 arena 1.32 (or according to various posts in google groups in any case), which I then made invisible again so as to avoid accidentally damaging or deleting it. The file was "botlib.log" which I was informed of as an "empty log file" by the mac os x console utility. Perhaps this is connected to the cutting off problem?

  • MBP Retina: menu bar icons smoothness problem

    Hello everyone,
I recently switched to MBP Retina 2013, this is my first Mac and despite some software problems, I am loving it!
Here's my question/problem: sometimes (did not notice any logic when it happens) my menu bar icons lose their retina smoothness and look bad. Screenshot below shows how it looks. Notifications icon on the right is good, but spotlight and the others very bad, including date & time. Menu bar text items on the left (non icons) look fine.
Does anyone know what's causing this problem and how to fix it?
    Thanks!

Hard to troubleshoot if it does it sometimes.
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • Does the battery charging in the macbook pro retina automatically cut off when the battery is fully charged?

Does the battery charging in the macbook pro retina automatically cut off when the battery is fully charged? or does it continue charging? In which case,is it better for the battery life to switch off the power supply or leave it on while using the macbook?

Yes, and the pilot light on the MagSafe2 connector changes from orange to green. If you unplug, you will start draining the battery again, whereas if plugged the Mac will take power from the brick and leave the battery in a charged state.

  • Finder cuts off thumbnails/icons

Incase you get this same glitch that happened to me.
    problem
Using finder in hidden sidebar mode.
After arranging thumbnails by name - they shift left and half of them are hidden by the left edge of the finder window.
Resizing the window doesn't help, neither does arranging them again or changing view. (the list view gets cut off too).
    solution
Use the menu 'view > hide sidebar/ show sidebar' in order to snap it back into place.

Thanks for the reply. I should have mentioned that I tried all three of those suggestions. Force quitting Finder didn't do anything, logging off (and logging off and restarting) didn't do anything, but when I log back in it puts me in Simple Finder. And killall Finder just puts it into Simple Finder.
    Any other ideas?
