Status Icons next to inbox, accounts

Under my list of mailboxes (I have multiple accounts set up in Mail), from time to time, I see status icons or little informative pictographs.
Since I don't know what these are called, I can't seem to find a key for what each one means.
There's the exclamation point contained in the triangle contained in the grey circle (this one, I think I understand).
I don't get the other symbols (like the sideways lightning bolt in the grey circle).
Anybody have a decoder ring?

aha... not very intuitive as far as the icon design goes, but hey... it does make sense that "syncing" would be applied. (why Apple doesn't use the "sync" icon it uses eleswhere is beyond me...)
Anyhow - the icon does go away and normal imap mail checking resumes shortly after.
Thanks for the suggestion. Syncing seems to be it.

Why are there no iCloud status icons next to some of my tracks in iTunes on my Mac ?

I was looking at this page: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4124
There are different icons depending upon the status of a track in my library.
But what if there is NO ICON, near some of the songs in my library? Does it mean it everything is ok and that it is in iCloud? Or is it a bug? As I have a large library, I cannot verify that each and every track is in iCloud.

If tracks have been matched, purchased or uploaded and there is no cloud symbol, everything will be ok and tracks will be on your computer.
Add iCloud status to song view -go to menu> view> view options and tick box. Matched, uploaded, purchased, inelligible, duplicate or waiting will show.

Go to Edit > Preferences > Store, and uncheck the box for "Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases."

Bluetooth status icon in the wrong place?

Well I turn on the MacBook Pro this morning to find that the bluetooth status icon is now between the clock and spotlight. Usually it was next to the airport status icon. On my old powerbook it was always next to the airport status icon. So i thought it was just some simple glitch and I restarted the laptop to find that it is still in the same place next to spotlight. I know it may sound odd but its bothering and looks really odd. Is there something wrong with it? Anyone have this same problem? Thanks I've only had my MacBook Pro for 3 days, there have been so many problems I have been running into with it(ie. opening photobooth yields a green screen at first, won't connect to my wireless network, itunes takes forever to open resulting in front row to lag and freeze, etc.) and I have already installed all the updates. If anyone has any insight to my other problems please let me know.

What ever Icon you add to the file bar will always go to the very left of the other icons. So if you want it to be on the very left then all you have to do is turn off any other icons in your system preferences then after the blooth is where you want it, put the others back on the left side of it. Or if you just want it at the Very left side, simply go into system preferences in the bluetooth icon, and uncheck the "show in menubar" box, then recheck it to send it to the very left side.
As for a glitchy macbook Pro, I had similar problems when I first received mine, but after a clean install of the OS and reformat of the harddrive things were much smoothe. And by the way, remember that BootCamp is still a Beta software and could cause glitches, or not work properly.
Unless you already have tons of important stuff on your MBP, I would do a clean reformat first off.

Thread Status Icon Problem

Hi,
A problem that I have been facing for quite a while now is that several threads appear with the status icon which means that "Threads whose contents have changed since my last visit (semi orange icons)" but the issue is that I have never visited those threads. So how come they are marked with such a status (they should just be white icons).

OK I also sometimes have problems, I log in and got a big list of unread or semi-unread threads. And suddenly somewhere in the middle of all them one or two that are white showing that I've completely read them. But it is not possible, unless of course someone other is not working under my account which I hope is not true ;)
Probably someone just edited the post and it doesn't mean that thread has been updated?
Anyway to be frank for me this possible bug is on a very low priority because it happens quite rare and the problems coming out of this are quite tiny. I'd classify this bug as "cosmetic" ;)

Video and status icons not appearing

I'm trying to set up a chat between my sister in Canada and my parents in the Uk. My sister's using a macbookpro with OSX0.4.1 and ichat 3.18 and my parents are using an imac running 10.3.9 and ichat 2.1
We got into a video chat with my parents the other day, but today although all is good here, my parents can only see themselves in the video - they fill the screen. I don't know how to get them so they see themselves in the smaller preview, and us in the large preview. Also, they don't see the status icons, nor any of the green camera icons next to my name or my sister's name in the buddy list (and apparanty never have). They've tried quitting ichat, unplugging and replugging in the external isight, and rebooting with no difference.
Can anyone help?

iChat sometimes does this.
The easiest fix is to reconnect.
Or restart iChat.
Now in addition they should really check some other places.
With iChat open go to the Video menu.
This should have the Camera Enabled item ticked.
In the View menu they should make it Show Video and Show Audio Status.
This will produce the Green icons in their Buddy list if they are not already there.
There are in fact loads of ways to start a Video chat
1) Clicking on the Green icon for that Buddy.
2) Clicking once on the Buddy and then icons at the bottom of the Buddy list
3) From the Buddies Menu
4) Right Clicking /Control Clicking a Buddy and then from the Contextual menu
I can understand that they may have the green icons but not use them.
If the above does not work they should try Repairing Permissions
As they are in iChat 2 and Panther then they may need to Run the Cron Scripts.
See this FAQ for both the previous.
For the second bit they will need MacJanitor (Simplest and cheapest and only does the Cron script)
Download and install
Click the Padlock and type in Admin password
Run the Scripts one at a time or all All Tasks

What is the red speaker icon next to the battery indicator?

I some times have a red speaker icon next to my battery indicator even though i dont have any music playing or am having a conversation. It's some times white also. I have no idea what it stands for. does anyone know what its purpose is?

Page 17 of the iPhone user guide provides the iPhone's default status bar icons. This is not one of them.

Weird icon next to battery icon

this weird icon popped up on my phone yesterday and have no idea what it means. it is a lock with a circular arrow around it?

You you have rotation lock enabled. A rotation lock icon will appear in the status bar next to the battery charge icon when rotation lock is enabled. This looks like a circular arrow around a padlock. If so:
1. Double click the home button to bring up the multitasking bar.
2. Swipe right until the last set of icons is displayed in the multitasking bar (these will include play/pause and skip buttons for iPod or Pandora).
3. The furthest left icon looks like a circular arrow - touch this icon to enable or disable rotation lock on the iPhone.

If you see this symbol in the status bar, it means that TTY is on. Choose Settings > Phone to turn TTY on or off.

Unknown status icon

This afternoon a previously unseen status icon appeared on my iPone next tothe battery status icon. It rather looks like a telehone handset over two rows of white dots, 4 in the top row and 3 in the bottom row. This icon does not appear to be listed in the iPhone manual.
Does anyone knwo what this is or why it has suddenly appeared?

That's the TTY indicator. Go into Settings > Phone and turn TTY off.

TS4124 What causes iTunes Match, on an iOS device, to lose the cloud icon next to each song?

What causes iTunes Match, on an iOS device, to lose the cloud icon next to each song. On my iPad 2 and iPhone 4S one cloud shows up for a whole album to tap and download a whole album but the ones next to the songs are no longer there. No songs will delete from my phone once downloaded from the cloud by sliding my finger to the left over the song and tapping delete. Instead it just plays the song when I try to delete it. To delete my music from my device I have to go in to settings and delete all the music. This worked fine for the first week and then one day the cloud status next to each undownloaded song disappeared and started doing this.

Try sync Music from iTune to your iPad again.

Mail - wrong counter next to "Inbox" at the top of the window

in Mail (3.6), the message-counter on the top part of the "Mail"-window next to "Inbox" displays a random 10-digit number, instead of the actual Inbox count. the inbox count in the sidebar and in the badge at the dock are fine.

already tried to rebuild the Mailbox, and deleted/resampled the "Envelope Index"-file in user/library/mail .
the mail is handled through IMAP /mobileme.
any suggestions?

Did you first remove the account folder for your IMAP account when you forced reindexing by removing the Envelope Index file?
