Status LED Flashes 5 times?

There are only nine terminal bases in the back and no terminal bases were added to the bank while the power was supplied. Is there any other reason for this error? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The status light flashing 5 times means different things for different network modules. Without knowing which network module you are using, I can not provide specific information.
It is most commonly seen with the FP-1000/1001 Serial Network modules when an I/O module is unrecognizable. This can happen in the following circumstances:
1) A module that may have been connected previously was not available when Find Devices! was issued.
2) The firmware of the network module may not be updated to support the I/O module. For the latest driver version of a FP-1000/1001, the link is:
ftp://ftp.ni.com/support/fieldpoint/Update/FPupdate.zip
3) There may be 10 bases on a bus but the system only supports up to 9.
4) There may be a bent pin at the point where the module connect
s to the base.
5) The terminal bases were connected or disconnected with power applied resulting in a bus failure condition.

Aaron

  • FP-1600 Status LED blinks 17 times.

My FieldPoint bank has 9 modules. I previously had a problem with the FP-TB-10 power and ready lights blinking, but that was because one of my dual-channel modules was not seated correctly. Now the status LED is blinking 17 times. The manual says to contact NI about this. The FieldPoint Explorer seems to find all of the modules correctly, though. Anyone know what's up?

    Aaron,
I checked the firmware and the FieldPoint Explorer version, and I'm using 3.20 and 3.0, respectively. When I power cycle the FP-1600, the 17 blinks of the status LED go away. Communication works, and all of the devices are found. However, communication does drop out from time to time, and eventually the status LED begins blinking 17 times again.
A possibly related issue is that the FP-AI-V10 dual-channel module that I have plugged into slot 2 of the FP-TB-10 base causes the FP-TB-10 to flash its power and ready LEDs. Re-seating the FP-AI-V10 seems to fix this, although the module is definitely already clicked into place when I see this problem. Upon reseating (or just pressing on it without removing the module), the FieldPoint Explo
    rer program finds this module.
I'm tempted to think that this issue with the FP-TB-10 and FP-AI-V10 are unrelated to the FP-1600's status LED blinking 17 times because even with the FP-TB-10 removed from the bank, I still get the flashing LED.
Any ideas? Also, what is a GPF type error?
    Thanks,
    Jake

  • CompactRIO unusual error status LED flashing continuously

    Hi,
    I have a cRIO 9014 controller with an error i can't solve.
After re-installing LV 8.5 on my laptop MAX could see the controller but with the VISA and NI-RIO error. I wanted to obtain the IP address from the DHCP server (before i used the static IP address without any problems), rebooted the controller and the status LED started flashing continuously every 1 second. (unrecoverable error or corrupted flash memory card)
I rebooted the controller several times with IP reset but LED is still flashing. Also in MAX i can't see the controller anymore so reformatting controller  is not possible.
Firewall is off, crossover cable is connected, IP of host is ok but no cRIO in MAX
Found a similar problem on the forum http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=238333&query.id=24781#M238333 but it didn't solve my problem unfortunately.
    Thanks for your help!
    Greetings from the Netherlands

    Hello TrabW,
Thank you for your post on our webforum.
Can you try to start up the controller in safe mode? Is it possible to ping the controller? Please try the default IP address and the one you entered (in case the controller didn't reset the IP). Please let me know the results,

  • CFP 2110 - Status led flashing continously

I'm running into problem with a cFP 2110.
During the debugging of my RT application on the cFP, I get an error message "Host IP address not in the access list". At this time, I was unable to download any application to the cFP. the VI server IP access list was configured with *. So all the IP address can access to the cFP.
I found a procedure on the ni web site to reset the system.
    -Set to safe mode
-ftp the cFP and delete all the file
    -Remove the safe mode.
It means that there is no more OS or LabVIEW RT on the system.
Now, When I restart the cFP, the Status led is flashing continously (1 flash / 1.5s) and I don't have access anymore to the cFP in MAX.. Can some one help me on this case ? .
    Thanks

    Hi Poussin,
I would recommend flipping the Reset IP dip switch (dip switch 7).  This
should get the controller to show up in Measurement and Automation
Explorer(MAX) as 0.0.0.0.  If you can't see the controller, you may want
to try turning off your firewall.  Often computer firewalls will prevent
customers from seeing unconfigured controllers in MAX.
Once you find your controller, you can flip the reset IP dip switch back to the
off position and reset the IP address.  For more information on this,
click on your FieldPoint controller in MAX that will be displayed as
0.0.0.0.  In the MAX help that appears on the right, click on the link
titled, "Configure Network Settings."  If you need assistance
choosing an IP address, please look at this KnowledgeBase.
Once you have assigned an IP address to the controller, the status light should
stop blinking once.   You will then need to install software.
    Here is a general
document that describes how to assign an IP address and install software.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.

  • LED flashes 3 times

    Hi
I have just tried to install 2 x 1GB chips into my G5 that already has 2 x 256mb and 2 x 1GB and the led on the front is flashing 3 times. I believe this means Incompatible memory installed.
So I then removed the new Ram and left the old Ram in the same place as before. Same thing happens, 3 flashes. I have been using the old Ram for 3+ years.
I have tried removing everything and just replacing the original 2 x 256mb and still 3 x flashes.
    any ideas.
    Peter

The act of heating the logic board at the point where these RAM sockets are
soldered on, and have that work, means there are micro-fractures or a faulty
solder joint at the junction - - or worse - - a component nearby has failed.
Since heat expands and the sections needing a proper connection would be
forced together tighter at the higher temperature, that situation could be an
easier fix than some others involving a logic board's complex circuits & parts.
Had you noticed anything odd prior to this apparent failure, such as slower
applications, or other sluggishness? If this issue had started going out be-
fore your AppleCare coverage expired, and you were unaware of the cause,
you could've had some recourse through AppleCare in this matter... About
all a person could do, is pay for the tech support call, and have your notes
ready; and ask what - if any - options you have, since the cost of this at a
retail repair rate, breaks the bank; when a repair costs so much you can't
continue to do your work, you could be bankrupt. You don't need a computer
to go broke; anyone can do that and be essentially computer illiterate!
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Satellite L30 PSL33E won't start at all - LED flashes six times

    Hello,
My poor mother is quite distraught! Her Satellite L30 PSL33E has just died.
It completely shut down and now won't start at all.
Orange light flashes six times when the power button is pressed.
No hard drive, fan, screen or any other noise / activity.
She has tried it without the battery.
Some sort of hardware failure I imagine.
Any ideas what this blink code means?
    Thanks in advance,
    D.

I dont know what the code means but you can read it; short means 0 and long means 1
Anyway, the error code means that an hardware fault was detected on the motherboard and only the motherboard replacement could help you?
    Why?
because is really hard to repair a notebooks motherboard.
Its mostly not possible if you dont have enough knowledge, experience and special tools.
I think either you will contact the ASP in your country and will ask for a fix or you will have to buy a new notebook ;(

  • Cabling problem? - all status LEDs flash - Link/Act, Full/Col and "100"

I have a CAT5 cable installed in my house. When I connected it to my WRT54G router and computer I have on the router all three of the Link/Act, Full/Col and 100 LEDs flash in sync. My PC tells me the LAN cable is not connected. I have reterminated the cable and still get the same dispaly on the router and message on my PC. The manual is silent on this. Can anyone help? The router's firmware is V1.02.0 and the router works fine with other cables connected to the other ports.  I have tried all the ports with the cable in question. Thank you.

  • Blackberry Pearl 8100 randomly shuts off and the status LED flashes red

My pearl was reciently unlocked and changed from AT&T service to t-mobile. after this switch the pearl started having fits of rage where it will turn off randomly, weather any keys have been hit or even if it is idle. the device LED then flashes red, sometimes once, other times it will flash once every 4 seconds for hours. then it will randomly turn back on either to the exact screen it had been on before it powered off or it will reboot completley and start the normal start-up procedure and varify security checks just as if the battery were removed. i tried removing the batery and leaving the phone disassymbled for a few nights but in the morning the plague is back and unrelenting. sometimes all i have to do it pick the device up and it will shut off. other times i will be plugging away with it for 20 or so minutes on the internet and then it will die suddenly. it also cuts out in the middle of phone calls. if anyone can help, please let me know.
    blackberry 8100 v4.2.1.96

Is it a new phone? If it's less then a month old see if you can return it, otherwise you can try reloading the OS.
So if you're willing to try that, do the following.
First download and install the Desktop Manager from here (4.6 without Media Manager is recommended): https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
Next you can use the Backup and Restore feature present in the software to make a backup of all the data on your phone.
Next download and install the handheld software from here: http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
Afterwards try reloading the OS by connecting the device to your computer, open the Desktop Manager, then go into the Application Loader. This will open a wizard that steps you through reloading the OS onto your device. More detailed steps can be found here:

  • MMD - replaced logic board & now have led flashing 5 times

    I have a mmd model M878 LLA and replaced a logic board KD237 045 VNFAA , 630t3744/630-4267 with a KD244 024 NNNVA, 630t3744/630=4372.
Original symptoms were 4 beeps and 4 flashes then a high speed fan, so I replaced the logic board - Now I get only 5 flashes on the power button and a high speed fan.
What do I do next? Do I go ahead and order a replacement processor? Do I want to put more money into this machine or just part it out?

  • FP-1601 Status LED blinks 17 times but appears to work normally. Cycling power clears the blinking. Any ideas?

This occurred on three different FP-1601s networked together via HUB. The modules seem to work and are recognized via LabView DSC. Trying to determine the cause. Could it be data collissions?

This could be the result of a bad FP refnum. I have seen this a lot. In addition you may check your iak file. sometimes the channel names on the head unit get renamed from channel to input. either the led or switches. GL

  • HP 6735S LED Light Flashing 3 Times

    hello
i have a HP 6735s with 4gb ram and the caps lock light is flashing 3 times have read on hp and its a memory issue i have tried the sticks of memory one at a time and both together in different memory slots and still the same led flashing 3 times, i have tried the memory in another laptop and they work fine so its not the memory and have tried brand new memory in the hp 6735s laptop and still the same problem so i think it maybe a motherboard fault can anyone help please
    Thanks Brent

I agree with you then brent_smith.  It would seem that the problem lies with the ports and would likely need to be replaced.
Here is a link to your notebook's Maintenance and Service Guide.  It covers the disassembly of the notebook as well as how to replace the parts.  This website has the various part number you'll need.  You should be able to order the parts from HP Parts Surfer.

  • CRIO status led 2

I have two cRIO-9014 that are exhibiting the same problem... the status led flashes twice every three seconds.  According to the documentation this indicates that "The controller has detected and error in its software".  I can configure the cRIO from MAX but can not connect to the device from the LabVIEW develoment environement.  I've tried formating the cRIO, setting up the IP addrs etc and reinstalling the software with no success.  Another thing I've noticed while interrogating the cRIO using MAX is that there is a VISA Error and a NI-RIO Error present under Devices and Infaces.  Is there a solution to restore my cRIO's to their original state or would I have to send it back to NI to be repaired?
    Regards,
    Rob

What Rev of 9014 Controller do you have?  The later rev's require NI-RIO 2.4.1 due to a change in the Disk on Chip memory.  Check out the following Knowledgbase:

  • Three beeps then led flashes and fan is on

Hi. I haven't used my mac in a while and tried turning it on...it beeped three times then the led flashes three times and pauses, and the fan goes on full blast. I found out in my quest for answers that the 3 flashes could mean bad RAM. I have the factory installed RAM...I had some problem with my computer before and an apple tech put in a new logic board. Could this be the problem? I'd like to fix it myself since the tech is a hike away. Any thoughts? Thanks for the help.
    PowerMac G5 2ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Hi. Well -
Not sure whether you need the FW card for your recording session - but if you remove the FW card, and get the G5 up and stable first - then put back what you need and try it.
I would try to boot from the most recent system disc you have - presumably it came with 10.4 if you have a "Late 2005" dual-core 2GHz G5 with PCI-Express
    http://support.apple.com/specs/powermac/PowerMac_G5_Late2005.html
    - and Verify, or Repair if necessary, the startup disc
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=DiskUtility/10.5/en/duh1018.html
in case directory corruption has occurred during the various shutdowns and restarts.
If boot problems still persist, it may be worth re-seating the video card, also.
There are threads in the Forum mentioning that FW card
    http://discussions.apple.com/search.jspa?objID=c108&search=Go&q=siig+NN-E20012-S 2
There is some discussion there of the power requirements of the connected firewire device - and of the possible need for a separate power connection to the card. It's also possible that the FW card needed re-seating, after the G5 not being used for a while.
It may also help to disconnect anything firewire - iSight, drives, etc. - not needed at this pressing moment...
Have presumed that you don't need Airport for tonight - but if it appears to causing problems with the basic startup, it can be disconnected; although this is more complicated on a dual-core, and to be avoided, if possible.
Anyway - trust some of this helps. Good Luck.

  • HP 6735s won't boot, power LED blinks 7 times

The HP 6735s laptop stopped working.  Only sign of life, power LED flashes 7 times after on/off switch is pressed.  What's wrong, experts?

Try a hard reset. Sometimes it works and is always the first step to take.
remove the battery and the ac adapter plug from the laptop.
press and hold the power button for fifteen seconds.
install either the battery or ac adapter power and press the power button to attempt a boot into the OS.
If that doesn't work then remove the hard disk to see if it gets past the splash screen and the BIOS whines that it can't find a bootable OS. That would indicate a hard disk failure.
Also worth tying is removing the memory module(s) from the DIMM slots and then reinstalling them. That reseats the modules and cleans some oxidation off the module pins (if there is any)
Another, perhaps a laptopsaver (in a manner of speaking) is the HP Pavilion dv2000/dv6000 and Compaq Presario  v3000/v6000 Series Notebook PCs - HP Limited Warranty... Check it and see if your laptop is covered.
