Stay connected to the LAN when the MacBook Pro Retina is folded

Greetings,
Question to the new MacBook Pro Retina – is it possible to stay connected to the LAN when the Mac is folded?
The reason why I am asking is that I often go from one meeting room to another meeting room.
Before with my ”normal” MacBook Pro I knew that I couldn’t – now with my new MacBook Pro Retina, I assume it should be possible (in theory at least). If it is possible – how can I set the network settings or other to make it possible?
Please let me know

A little heat is no issue because the vent is right under the back part of the keyboard. There have been some recent reports of the fans turning on without warning for a minutes or two which will also add to the heat that you're feeling. The new ventalation system will put a little heat on the keyboard but it's okay.

is it possible to connect a PS3/XBox to the new 2012 macbook pro with retina display?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
It's not possible. The only Macs that allow you to do it are the Late 2009 and Mid 2010 27-inch iMacs, and you need a special adapter to connect your PlayStation to these iMacs. As the MacBook Pro doesn't support Target Display mode, you can't use it as a display for the PlayStation

Whenever I connected my Magic Mouse to my Macbook Pro Retina, the Internet does't work right away,
and while I disconnected the Mouse, it works immediately......
Does anyone has the same prob. or know why it happens?
Please help me out and thanks for your kindness!

But I tested, I clicked a link and it started loading, and when I got the Mouse connected, it stops the process and got stuck...
And I clicked a link again, now with the mouse connected, it stuck forever, and when disconnected the mouse, it immediately works!

  • Using a remote desktop connection with the Macbook pro.

I use the remote desktop connection on the Macbook pro and am unable to exchange info between the mac and the remote connetion windows. For example, if I am writing an email from the remote connection and want to attach a document, photo etc. that I created on the Mac, it just doesn't work. It seems like the Mac and the desktop connection are completely seperated eventhough they are both on the screen in front of me. the systems I use for work are not Apple compatible and will not work on anything other than windows explorer and in my case the remote desk top connection. Any ideas!

Try running in 'ClamShell' mode (MacBook Pro lid closed and using an external keyboard and mouse) with the Gateway connected and then run System Preferences/Displays, it should show then ...
My 1920x1080 monitor shows the following:

  • Does the battery charging in the macbook pro retina automatically cut off when the battery is fully charged?

Does the battery charging in the macbook pro retina automatically cut off when the battery is fully charged? or does it continue charging? In which case,is it better for the battery life to switch off the power supply or leave it on while using the macbook?

Yes, and the pilot light on the MagSafe2 connector changes from orange to green. If you unplug, you will start draining the battery again, whereas if plugged the Mac will take power from the brick and leave the battery in a charged state.

What if ingesting from DV tape to FC X using the Macbook Pro Retina which lacks a firewire port

I have used it quite a bit for connecting to external drives, etc. with no problems. Have not done a tape ingest as we don't have tape based cameras to work with any more. It appears to emulate a FW800 port perfectly.

I got a macbook pro retina and I installed windows 7. How can I get the windows 7 drivers for the Macbook Pro Retina?

Read the Boot Camp Instructions, you have to download the drivers using Boot Camp Assistant
If you missed that I suggest that you read the instructions again.

  • Can't get my 30" Apple LCD at full res with the MacBook Pro Retina

    Hey
I've been through a lot of posts and I can't seem to find a solution. I have a 30" Apple LCD monitor but the highest resolution I can get out of it through the MacBook Pro Retina is 1280 x 800. Any suggestions? I have tried holding down option while clicking the scale radio button, no luck.

iPhoto updates through 'software update', not the App Store.

  • Infinite shipping delay in the MacBook Pro Retina to Europe

Does anyone know why Apple is delaying the shippment of the MacBook Pro Retina every week?
I bought one more than a month ago and every week they extend the shipping estimate date. I'm thinking on return it back. The sadness is that I already have my useless Thunderbolt Cinema Display, and a also useless Thunderbolt hard drive which I don't know if they work properly because I don't have the computer to test them!!
Does anyone know something about this?

Go to App Store > Updates and install it. Also, open System Preferences > Energy Saver to enable that

Well there are two or three causes of eyestrain with displays different people seem to have.
    1: Small type/UI elements
    2: Glossy screens
    3: Flicker rate
    1:
The higher pixel rate combined with the display set at the higher resolution is going to cause UI and type to be smaller and harder to see. In fact it's advised to set OS X to a lower resolouton so it upscales better to match the pixel of the higher display.
Reports coming in say watching HD 1920 x 1080 trailers on the anti-glare 17" is best as the pixel content matches the display almost fullscreen, where on the MBP-R it's upscaled and thus looks blurry.
HD content makers are NOT going to change all their video cameras to support 2880 x 1800 full screen, so in order to get a clearer image playing HD 1080 content, one will have to do so in a smaller window.
    2:
The new MBP-R dispalys are 75% less glossy, but not 100% less glossy like the anti-glare models so this can still cause some people problems. This can be lowered to under 1%, however I'm suspecting to do so would be considered giving up a military advantage to China where Apple gets it products made.
    3:
I don't know about the flicker rate if it's better or not on the MBP-R's than the previous screens.

I am thinking of either buying the Macbook Pro retina display (15") or waiting for the iMac 27" display. I am mainly focusing on the display, so what is better?
