Stay logged in on a website

Is there a way to stay logged in on a website ?  can the ipad be set to remember username and password ?

Actually it will depend somewhat on the website and the type of security it runs. In general, you should go to the Settings app, Safari and make sure you are accepting cookies. but there's no guarantee it will work for every site.
I beleive there are some Keychain type apps for storing passwords available in the app store, but I can't recommend one first hand.

  • Firefox failing to stay logged in/ recognise certain websites

Downloaded Firefox 4 the other day and have been having consistent issues with it not keeping me logged into Facebook, emails or news sites when I close the browser window. Additionally, it is failing to communicate properly with my bank and since it is not being recognised, I have to answer security questions each time I want to check my balance. It's getting annoying and I'm debating uninstalling Firefox entirely.

Please visit this link for an answer to this. You might also want to uncheck the "Clear history when Firefox closes" option. I don't know when these were set to on by default but I use those features so I find it quite annoying without them!

  • TS3274 Why won't I stay logged in on my favorite websites with latest software 7.0.2

I updated to 7.0.2,   Now every time I open safari and go to my favorite websites, I don't stay logged in like I used to.     What am I doing wrong?   How can I fix this?

However, I can no longer access the iTunes store as the PC just sits there in limbo.
In the course of your troubleshooting to date, have you worked through the following document?

  • Since downloading the update for Firefox 3.6.10 all websites that I previously stayed logged into must be logged into everytime I open them. Why? And can this be fixed?

This has happened with previous Firefox updates but only after the initial update. Once I logged into websites such as facebook, yahoo, hotmail etc. I stayed logged in and was able to access these sites without having to log in each and every time. I have checked all boxes on these and all other sites to remember passwords and to keep me logged in and I still have to log in on each new visit. I rebooted my computer and this did not help. I made sure that Remember Passwords was checked on the Security tab under Options in the Tools for Firefox.

How can Mozilla be contacted to report this problem directly to them instead of posting to a forum?

  • OS X Yosemite update websites won't stay logged in

Ever since I updated my system, websites will stay not logged in.  I can find answers about my computer staying logged in, which has not been a problem.  But I cannot find anything on websites.
When I go to Safari Preferences, Autofill is checked.  On the websites, it is checked marked to "Keep me logged in," yet it doesn't.  I do not know where else to look.
Again, this is since the update.  Never had this issue before.  've been dealing with it for a while and it's just getting old.

If no joy, you may need to update all of your third party software if there are OS X Yosemite updates that can be applied. You may need to go the third party developers' websites if there are no updates through the Mac App Store. Update all of your Web browser Internet plugins, also. Also, if you have any third party devices, like keyboards, mice, drawing tablets, hubs, card readers, etc, you need to update the drivers for these devices to OS X Yosemite compatible versions by going to the help/support sections of each device makers' websites.

  • Staying Logged In To Websites Issue

Ever since upgrading to latest Airport Extreme and Express (vs 6.2.1) I have experienced chronic issues with staying logged into websites regardless of the browser used ( Safari, Firefox, Chrome, iCab). I know there have been "vanishing cookie" issues with specific browsers but my issue shows no favoritism to any specific browser. The only common factor I can trace it to is that it must be an Airport issue. Anyone else experienced anything like this or have a solution?

If you are running v10.6.6, update your software. Latest Snow Leopard version is v10.6.8 and Safari 5.1
Click the Apple menu icon top left in your screen then click Software Update.
And from the Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Privacy tab then click: Details
Delete the website url's you have problems accessing then click Done.
    Restart your Mac.

  • Trouble staying logged into websites

It seems that after updating to Yosemite and Safari 8, I'm having trouble staying logged into some sites such as Facebook and Netflix. I have the "keep me logged in" button checked too. After a couple minutes or so of browsing or watching an episode, it automatically logs me out. I even tried clearing the Cache on Safari but that didn't help.
PS. Trying to post this thread, it told me that I was logged out. :/

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • How do I set Firefox 30 preferences so I will stay signed in to various websites?

In all versions from 24 back I could close out the browser and stay signed in to several websites I use on a daily basis. After upgrading from 24 to 30 it signs me out of every website, even tho I have the keep me signed in boxes checked and I have FF preferences set to not clear cookies & to show windows & tabs from last time.
I'm not happy about v 30 as I had to install even more add-ons in order to make it more convenient to use. IMHO sometimes it's not always worth fixing when it's not broken, especially when options are removed and new ones make it less user-friendly and more like 'other' browsers. One reason I liked FF so much was that it wasn't IE or the 'other' browser. :-((
How do I set preferences so I don't have to sign back in to every website each time I open the browser?
    Thank you.
PS, Why does FF keep asking me if I want to allow silverlight when I go onto ebay? And is that something I should allow? I never needed it or was asked before v. 30.
PSS, just an observation when when clicking on the automatic troubleshooting info, FF window popped up saying it was blocking it's own site. I'm not very techie, so would like to know the purpose of FF blocking its own site. Thanks again!

Details like websites remembering you (log you in automatically) are stored in a cookie.
*Create a cookie 'allow' exception to keep such cookies, especially in case of secure websites and when cookies expire when Firefox is closed.
*Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: Exceptions
In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes":
    *do not clear the Cookies
*do not clear the Site Preferences
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": [X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" > Settings
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/remove-browsing-search-and-download-history
Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, passwords, and other website specific data.
Clearing cookies will remove all specified (selected) cookies including cookies with an allow exception that you would like to keep.

Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie.
    * Create an allow cookie exception (Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: Exceptions) to keep such a cookie, especially for secure websites and if cookies expire when Firefox is closed.
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in Private Browsing mode.
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Private+Browsing
    * In [[Private Browsing]] mode all cookies are session cookies that expire if that session is ended, so websites won't remember you.
    * Do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences"
Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.

  • Won't Stay Logged In - Can't Save Password

I'm using Chrome. I can't stay logged in since the new bt log in changes.
On my home pc I normally just have one bookmarked link that takes me straight to my inbox.
With the new changes, I keep having to re-log in, sometimes even minutes after last logging in. There's also no option for Chrome to remember my password and no option on the website to remember my log in details.

  • I don't stay logged into webpages

When I close the browser, I get logged off all my sites. What I mean is, for example, facebook. When I log in, i check the box to "stay logged in". however when i close my firefox browser, the next time i open up firefox and go to facebook, i need to log in again! I've never had this problem before and its not just with facebook, its gmail and any other site i use.

  • Staying Logged In on My Iphone

I've looked at the forum here for answers on why I can't stay logged in to websites through Safari such as Facebook or Hotmail without having to reenter my username and password many, many times...since i get logged out if select an item to look at, or after looking at an email. I read in the forum about cookie problems in the updated 1.1.4 Safari...but the only answers seem to be about adjusting term-vt100 in installer... which involves third party applications and jailbreaking. Is there anyway of fixing this problem on a non-jailbreaked phone in safari? This was never a problem a couple of months ago, when iphone would keep me logged into web sites for a much longer period of time. I've also cleared out my cache, cookies and history, and enabled cookies to always...so what else can i do? it makes it virtually impossible to use facebook on iphone for example. Joe

If I remember correctly, Apple forgot to change the permissions of the cookies folder.
There is no fix for it without jailbreaking. I'm sure Apple fixed it in 2.0 (since they rewrote the thing).
It also depends on the site, too. Facebook used to be fine. Then there was a period where it was impossible to do stuff like send a message, etc. since it would log you out...but now it seems to be fine.

  • Safari... can't stay logged into sites after navigating away, or switching to/from other applications.

Ok so I have a Macbook Pro(2009) with Safari Version 5.1.2 and I can't stay logged into websites. For example.... If I'm logged into facebook, I then navigate to google and then back to facebook, I will then be logged out. Now before you say it, yes, I check the keep me logged in buttons on sites and this is not even close to being exclusive to facebook, just merely an example. This also occurs if I stay on the web page I'm signed in on then open up, lets say, itunes. When I then go back to the webpage, I'm signed out again. This is rediculously frustrating. It makes safari completely unusable with any application or with multiple webpages. I usually love safari and never wanted to switch to any other browser but I don't think I can hold out much longer with this. Also, I'm not sure if theres any other info that someone would need to help diagnose this bug but let me know and I'll post it. Thanks for any help in advance.
    -frustrated safari user

I, too, have this problem. I have used Macs for years and have never had this problem before. It has just started and I'm not sure if I did a Safari update recently which might have created the issue. From reading on-line posts, this apparently has existed for years and now it is just my turn.
Firefox works fine; I stay logged in on Firefox 'forever' but I prefer Safari. If it continues, I'll be using Firefox.
