STB jumps up one channel after Tivo recording starts

Motorola QIP2500-3 with Standard Def Tivo box.
Program is set to record on channel 50 at 9:00 PM.
Both the STB and the Tivo banner change to channel 50 and start recording, as expected.
Almost immediately the STB changes to channel 51 while the Tivo banner continues to show Channel 50 info.
Therefore the wrong program gets recorded.
If you catch it in time you can use your Verizon remote to change the channel back.
The expected Tivo message: Currently Recording with the 2 options-Do not change channel, continue recording OR Change the channel, stop recording, does not appear so somehow there's a disconnect with FIOS.
I've seen this with other channels, 2 or 3 digits only, not 4-9. It also occurs with channel changing not during recording.
Others have posted this on TiVo msg boards however the solution to change from the Serial cable to IR emitters doesn't always work.
Because it's the FIOS STB that's changing channels incorrectly, I thought I would post here. This has been occuring for about 2 months now.

I've begun getting this same problem around the same time period. I assume it is a Verizon issue as it appears to be a problem with the STB. I am getting sufficiently tired of problems with the Verizon equipment (a DVR that mostly leaves me stunned anyone could offer such a piece of junk for sale, or rental as it were) that I'm either going to get new Tivos and use them with cards or shift to another provider. Right now I am using one of their DVRs and a Tivo/STB combo.

Only one channel of audio recorded with external USB audio interface on DV6604nr

I only get on channel of audio when i hookup my Behringer UCA202 to my dv6604nr
vista 32 sp2 . The Behringer takes analog 2 channel audio and converts it to a digital signal.
This is using the Audacity software. The hardware and software check fine, though i tested them with an xp system.
Are there trouble shooting tips for these issues. I've updated the Audacity software and the usb drivers say their up to date. (?)

Come on... It's just like a usb turntable, only a little better quality. What steps would you use to troubleshoot one of those?

Sound cuts out exactly 5 mins after lecture recording starts (Tegrity)

I am using software called Tegrity to record lectures. The recordings come out fine when I use the built-in microphone on my MacBook Pro (OS X 10.8.5). This doesn't work in a lecture hall. When I use a bluetooth headset instead (TrueBlue TB-91EX), everything looks fine while I record. When I save and upload the file, however, the recordings stop playing sound after exactly 5 minutes. The 5 minute part is what strikes me as odd. A Tegrity rep had never heard of this issue.
Whether I am using the built-in microphone or not, the Tegrity recorder shows that the sound is being received (the sound indicator goes up and down with volume). If the bluetooth were disconnecting, I would know immediately; the sound would stop oscillating and a warning would come up (and Tegrity also would tell me when the headset runs out of batteries). The sound is definitely getting to the computer; for the first 5 minutes, everything is fine; after exactly 5 minutes, however, something is happening.
Is there some kind of bluetooth setting that would cause this to happen exactly 5 minutes after hitting the record button on Tegrity? Any insight into what could be going on here?

My OS softweare keeps on crashing one minute after I've started it.

It starts to work and work, very slowly and after some minutes it completly stops, and I'm forced to reboot.
...but my Bootcamp (windows) works perfectly well. What can I do?

same problem after i updated my ipod touch 4gen 8gb to ios 5.0.1. music app barely works. i press 'next track' and it skips a song and shows the metadata for the song it skipped to but then plays the previous song. other problems is that the music won't play on first touch. it didn't matter for me whether i turned the ipod - neither orientation worked. very strange. the music apps has been buggy since i updated to 5.0 and then 5.0.1. 75% of the reason i have the ipod touch is for music. so i'd agree that Apple needs a fix for this ASAP. i would be 100% happy if there was a simple way to downgrade to ios 4 which i had zero problems with.

2011 MBP (10.8.4) freezes exactly one hour after reboot

I'm having an issue identical to this poster insofar as I can tell, but some test results are different for me. Exactly one hour after rebooting or starting the computer, applications become unresponsive, video stops playing, then a little while later sound stops playing, and the cursor becomes a beachball if interacting with an application. Some windows can still be dragged or brought to the front of the screen for a short time. Eventually everything (except sometimes the cursor) is frozen and the machine never recovers from this state (for at least 15 minutes, I haven't let it go longer).
Most of the time this is accompanied by a CPU use spike and the fans spinning up, but not always. I have trawled through the system logs and disabled lots of LaunchAgents to no avail, so let me just list a few things I've tried and their result.
Disabling wifi: no change
Removing RAM one slot at a time: no difference
Memtest: clean results, froze after 1 hour anyway
Apple Hardware test: clean result on extended test, progress *sometimes* halts at the end of the third or fourth pass after the "Main Logic Board" test had finished (during message "Testing in progress... Extended testing in progress").
System console/system.log shows no distinctive output immediately before freeze, unless I'm doing other things like playing audio or using the internet in which case the wifi interface has activity or CoreAudio turns outputs on, but this is different every time it crashes. I did find that GoogleSoftwareUpdate was implicated in one of the console logs, so I disabled and uninstalled that without effect. I recently started using Time Machine on an external drive, so I disabled that and removed the drive I'd selected from Time Machine preferences - no improvement.
While watching Activity Monitor during one freeze, I saw that cprefsd (root) had spiked to 260% CPU usage, fseventsd (root) to 128%, and several other processes to 100% (UserEventAgent, cprefsd, iTunes Helper, and apsd (root)). Everything else was at 1%.
Symptomatically, this appears to be a software issue (not an instant crash, elevated CPU usage, regular timed interval), but I've been unable to isolate the cause. I strongly suspect Time Machine is responsible (fseventsd is linked to it) but having disabled it in System Preferences I'm not sure if it should be eliminated. Alternately I believe this may be symptomatic of logic board, memory controller, or graphics card failure, but am at a loss to explain the regular (non-random, non-usage-dependent) occurrence. I performed the syslog test prescribed by Linc Davis in this thread and found only regular shutdown codes, so that also seems to point to software issues.

This morning I tried leaving the computer on in Safe Boot mode and the freeze occurred on schedule, with the windows becoming unresponsive at 60 minutes in, and the the beachball appearing as soon as I moved the cursor.
If I can get a full backup sorted (only essential stuff is cloned right now), I'll try a clean install of OS X from the recovery partition to see if it nixes whatever process is at fault. I have an appointment with the Genius Bar tomorrow evening, but if this is really a software problem then I'm not sure how they can help (except to replace it at cost). Are there any other tests or fixes I can try? What's the likely prognosis?

Apple replaced the logic board and the fix and it didn't fix the problem. To their credit, they refunded the repair fee. I ended up tracing the issue to a third-party drive I'd bought from NewEgg, a Crucial M4 SSD, which had a very peculiar firmware bug:
Correct a condition where an incorrect response to a SMART counter will cause the m4 drive to become unresponsive after 5184 hours of Power-on time. The drive will recover after a power cycle, however, this failure will repeat once per hour after reaching this point.
I would have probably gotten the update notice had I purchased direct from Crucial (or had it come pre-installed if I'd bought it a month later). If you have a similar issue, check your drive firmware!

One channel freezes and becomes "unavailable" all on STBs and DVR boxes

Channel 162 has been freezing, then tiling, then suddenly becomes "unavailable" and to troubleshoot. Went thru all troubleshooting steps, failed 3X, called Verizon tech support this morning too. They tried a signal boost and that failed too. Why would only ONE channel do this on all 4 STBs and one DVR box. Every other channel is fine. PS: I have service scheduled for tomorrow.

One channel jumping on only one box

I stated earlier about my problem with the box that won't activate, but I actually noticed something even more weird. One channel in my area, channel 3 (WSBK) has a very jumpy picture on the other new box that is active. It's on this box only. Has this ever happened before? Now I'm starting to see all the problems that come with FiOS. I'm wondering if I should go back to Comcast. How much is the cancellation fee?

Since you didn't have boxes installed at those locations they were never tested. Maybe something is wrong with the line. Your other box just needs to be hooked up and activated and it will work.

In FCPx how do you invert the phase of one channel of audio?

I talked with my engineer friend and he listened to and tested the audio on my project. He said one of the channels was out of phase and that is why I'm getting no audio on my wireless audio recording being played back on android phones. He didn't know how to tell me to access fcpx to make the change to the one channels phase. Any help is greatly appreciated!

IF the problem is inverse phase, all you need to do is switch either the left or right, which will put whichever one you switch back in phase with the other one.
HOWEVER, as a test, if you hit the "Make Mono" button in the Gain effect BEFORE switching the phase of either channel, it will combine the two channels. If they completely cancel out during playback, phase was your problem with the phones. If it doesn't cancel out though, your problem isn't phase. Again, I doubt a complete lack of audio is due to phase issues, but test it out.
On a more technical level, neither channel is actually out of phase when people talk about two channels being 180 degrees out of phase. One of the channel's polarity is reversed, meaning the voltage, bits, or whatever, is increasing when it should be decreasing and decreasing when it should be increasing. The audio channel is doing the mirror image of what it's supposed to be doing. Being out of phase actually refers to one of the channels being moved in time in relation to the other channel, which is a different thing entirely.

Reverse one item after F110 payment

The other option is to use FBRA (reset cleared items) transaction.
You can reverse and reset a payment clearing document with this Tcode.
Please note, if there was more than one invoice included in the clearing, all those will be reversed.

You're right!
There are two alternative solutions I can think of.
1. Go into MAX (I use v3.1) and create DAQmx global channels for each counter. For example, create CounterFunction0 for channel zero, CounterFunction1 for channel 1, etc. To do this go to Data Neighborhood>>NI-DAQ Global Channels and right mouse click and selct create new NI-DAQmx channel.
After creating these channels, create a NI-DAQmx task.
To do this, go to Data Neighborhood>>NI-DAQ Task and right mouse click and selct create new NI-DAQmx task. When creating the task, you can now select multiple global channels with the shift key. Make sure you click on the global channel tab to enable the view of the global channels you just created.
2. Without usnig Max you can
create a listbox in the LabVIEW front panel and select whatever counter channel you need. You can then convert what is selected into the proper counter string (Dev%d/ctr%d)and then pass this string into the taskID input. Remember, the taskID input in the DAQmx VIs can accept string inputs.

My Firefox windows keep jumping from one to another

When I open a new Firefox window, after some time if I have another firefox window (not tab) open, for some reason my computer will jump from one I am currently using to the inactive one, although it still shows it as being inactive unless you click on it.
Firefox also jumps to Word or other such documents. Again this has only happened since downloading Firefox 12 (after upgrading from a brief period with Firefox 11 as well, where it also happened, but not earlier versions).

as you've described the issue it sounds more like a general external issue on your os and not related to firefox.

From Mono to Stereo or from one channel to two?

Hi,
I don't believe it's my camera's fault, because it's a newer HD camera--but for some reason the audio is only coming out in one channel.
I had to convert the file from its native .mts format to a .mp4 format and used Adobe Media Encoder CS4. When converting, I made sure to select Stereo.
Unfortunately, the audio does come out on one speaker only,even though it says Stereo.
I think I might have a misunderstanding between stereo and channels?
Does anyone know how can I easily fix this in Soundbooth? Or is there an option I am missing in Media Encoder?

I actually figured it out (you were on the right track with multi-tracking).
Here is what you do:
1. Right click the audio file and select "Insert Channels into New Multitrack File".
2. Delete the track in the "Audio 3" channel as it should be empty.
3. Select audio from "Audio 1" channel and just COPY + PASTE -- it should now appear in the "Audio 3" channel.
4. Copy the new audio track from the "Audio 3" channel.
4. Delete the audio out of "Audio 1" channel and move the track from "Audio 3" in it's place.
5. Delete "Audio 3" channel.
6. Go back to your original file (in the upper right pane).
7. Select all (CTRL + A) and delete the audio.
8. Jump back to your New Multitrack File, select all (CTRL + A) and copy it (CTRL + C).
9. Back to your video file now...and PASTE!
There ya go!

Sequence only has one channel of sound

I have a few sequences that I have added to a master sequence and only have one channel of sound in the master sequence.
In the actual sequence of each sequence that was added I have 2 channels of sound.
What would correct this issue?
Or does cut and paste everything in each sequence into my master sequence work better?

re: cloned system drives. Updating does not create a clone automatically. It is something you have to do. In the interest of locking the barn door after the paddle has been lost upstream - get a firewire drive as large as your system drive. Download a copy of Carbon Copy Cloner (shareware) and when your system gets working again, Clone the working drive to the firewire drive. This is your insurance when you update the OS, QT and/or any of the FCS pro apps.
Once you have a clone, if your update goes wrong, you can copy the clone back over the bunged installation and be back up and running within an hour or so.
Regarding FCP 6.0.4, perhaps someone archived a version (or you can find it on the FCP updates page). If you use Software update, it will want to install the most recent version.

When you still have the problem after restoring to factory defaults/new iPod then you very likely have a hardware problem and an appointment a th Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Switching Dynamic Channels after HSDIO settings have been committed

Hello. I'm trying to find a way to switch between two dynamic channels in a waveform after the HSDIO waveform is initated.
Would someone point me to an example or reference where I could learn how this is done?
For example:
I have a PXI-6561 in a 1062Q chasssis. I am assigning channels 0-3 as dynamic and using HSDIO write to populate the 4 channels from a waveform.
I need channels 0 and 1 to be un-disrupted and repeating (all channels are the same lenght). Channel 2 is data sent to an IC and channel 3 is used for queing updated data. I'd like to HSDIO write to channel 3 and then, when the write process has completed, I would like to swap channels 3 and 2 before the waveform begins another cycle.
I have tried this by re-calling the Assign Dynamic Channels node. This did not work because Assign Dynamic Channels does not work after the waveform has been initiated.
A very similar question was addressed on this forum at the below link. This did not work for me because the waveform is already commited when I want to make the switch.

I have been looking in to your question and I have not been able to find a way to do this without a brief stop to reload the waveform.
The way data is encoded for HSDIO makes switching channels after the data has been committed not possible unfortunately. You could try to use scripting and trigger the waveform to swap the location of the data, but this would have to be done in Windows and the waveform must be reloaded into onboard memory. The script would be small so reloading that is not a huge time sink. The worst of it is having to reload the entire waveform, but this cannot be worked around.
Recommendations to improve performance would be to have a large onboard memory and load as much as you can into it initially to prevent reloading several times. If the first pattern takes 1Mbit of data per channel on one channel, you can load around 60 patterns with the data on different channels, for instance. Then you can create the script to address each pattern by its waveform name.
It is unfortunately the way we have to work with the board at this time. However, this actually would be a great application for an FPGA on one of our FlexRIO modules. You could use this in order to do this task specifically.
