Replication is basically available in Oracle8i Edition - Std.
Simple Replication - Relationship between the Tables thru the Database Links.
Snapshot Replication - A view of the tables of the Master Site is available in the Remote Site , with autorefresh for every specific interval.
Multimaster Replication - Available only in Enterprise Edition - 8I.

OWB generated script on Std. edition server
Dear expert,
Can a OWB script be executed against a Oracle 9i Std. edition server? If not - Why not?
I do know there is a problem with bitmap index but that is not a problem for me.
Best RegardsI'm using OWB 9.0.2.26 and 9.0.3.33 to develop applications on the standard version, and it work correctly (except by the bugs).
You can develop for standard Oracle, but you have to be carreful when using some things like dimensions and index, because the standard version don't accept somethings.
The dimensions you can choose not generate it by configuring the dimension. The index you have to guarante that is not using something that is not available in the standard version.
The error that have been mensioned, about resource not available, it's because you have using the standard version that don't suporte query rewrite or your enterprise is not correct configured.

Oracle 10g on Windows 2008 Server Std. edition
Hi all
We create two partitions C 80 Gb, D 300 GB on HP Server XEON Dual Processor with 6GB installed with Windows 2008 Std. Edition server 32 Bit
We try to install Oracle 10g 32 Bit - We get the following problems
a) By default it should take the highest partion i.e d:\oracle\product etc.
but it takes c:\users\administrator\documnets\oracle\product which is wrong
However we correct it by typing the correct path. Brows does not take to D partition
b) On proceeding further - >Installation aborts and and we get messages
unknowkn , unknown etc. for 3-4 aspects.
Windows 2008 server has service pack 1 installed. We installed Service Pack 2 also but without any benefit. Further we also tried to install after removing all firewall , anitvirus etc. but again of no use.
User connected was administrator while installation of Oracle 10g 32 Windows.
We never get any problem with the same CD /Dump on Windows XP, Windows 2003 Server
Kindly suggest some remedy

Trying to Install CS6 Std edition on a windows 8 using chrome
I've bought the CS6 web std. package(Danish edition), which comes in a set of files for me to download.
DesignStandard_CS6_LS4.7z (approx. 233mb in size)
DesignStandard_CS6_LS4.exe
InDesignFamily_8_Content_ALL.exe
Being the first time for me to ever install the CS program, I'm already confused from the get go..
Starting the LS4.exe file is my best bet. Clicking this promts me with a " We are going to extract the files in to a directory which we are going to create" - I click OK, and an error is shown: "We couldn't extract the files, please check the size of the place where we are going to extract the files to, or check the read/write rights to the directory"
Mind you, the directory has been created nicely, so it must be the next part, but I'm looking at 380GB of free space on my HD, so i'm not sure what to do here!!
HELPIt turns out that the .7z file by default is marked by Windows as being unsafe to run, which produces the "are you sure you want to run this program, which you have just downloaded" message - BUT this message can't show, since the file is executed from another program - the installer.. Right clicking the 7z file and authorizing it to run manually solved the problem!
(And yes it was too small, downloaded the full file now..) -
hi,
new on the forum, hello everybody!
I'm looking for info about how to upgrade an oracle client 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.3.
I'm running the client on a windows server 2003 standard edition with SP2.
Several questions:
-is it an upgrade or a complete re-installation?
-where can i find the source for the upgrade?
-known issues for upgrading?
-if my db is in 10.2.0.3, can I use client 10.2.0.1?
thanks,
philJust apply the upgrade on the client's oracle home and make sure you don't have any running oracle software when you perform the upgrade, otherwise you will see dll conflicts.
You can still use the 10.2.0.1.0 client against the 10.2.0.3.0 since there is no functionality change at all, just bug corrections. It is advisable, however, that you are running at the latest patchset to avoid hitting known bugs.

Migrating existion RD licence from Server 2008 R2 to 2012 Std Edition
Dear team,
We have two servers with Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition. One server for Domain Controller and another is Terminal Server with 57 License (License Server). Now we have purchased New Rack server ( HP ProLiant
G8) and Windows Server 2012 Standard Edition. We want to replace our old hardware and OS, but want to keep (1) Domain Structure, Group Policies, Users (2) Same license for Terminal Services. I have two questions.
(a) Is migration of existing RDP Licence possible to new hardware and OS? If possible what Should be done?
(b) Is migration of existing AD possible to new hardware and OS? If possible what Should be done?
First question is more important.
Hope a favorable, detailed and early reply.Hi,
(a) Is migration of existing RDP Licence possible to new hardware and OS? If possible what Should be done?
You could refer to the following ms article about moving Remote Desktop Licensing to a New Server:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc730776.aspx
Meanwhile, for the license related issue, you could contact Licensing Service Center support
https://www.microsoft.com/licensing/servicecenter/Help/Contact.aspx
(b) Is migration of existing AD possible to new hardware and OS? If possible what Should be done?
First question is more important.
For this issue, you could follow MVP's suggestion, adding server 2012 to your domain, making it as domain controller then do the migration.

Installing Oracle8i Std Edition
I have installed Oracle and run the Database Assistant. I did not create a database, but created the script files instead.
I have a user called "oracle", member of "dba" who I used to install oracle. If I log in as oracle though, I cannot run svrmgrl. The error message is:
svrmgrl: error in loading shared libraries: lbskgxp8.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
My environment variables are set:
ORACLE_BASE=/apps/oracle
ORACLE_HOME=/apps/oracle/product/8.1.5
PATH=$PATH:/apps/oracle/product/8.1.5/bin
ORACLE_PATH=/apps/oracle/product/8.1.5/bin
LD_LIBRARY_HOME=/apps/oracle/product/8.1.5/lib
lbskgxp8.so does exist, and the oracle user has permission to execute it.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why I get the error please?Have you set your LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable
If not set it to point to the directory where the .so file is.
Alternatively put the path into
/etc/ld.so.conf and then run ldconfig

Hi,
We have 2 sites at the moment. Each site has 2 servers. To reduce network load I was aiming at doing the following with a merge replication :
* configure one server at each site to be distributor and publisher
* configure the other server at each site to be a subscriber
* configure the 2 publishers to also be subscribers to each other to sync the sites.
Or even better:
* have all the servers be distributors, publishers and subscribers, so that if one dies, who cares as they all have the same configuration.
Also, I was thinking of:
* having the distributor and publishers use a DFS share replicated on both sites (or maybe the same share on each sql server ? not sure what the best practice is on this one)
However, I can't seem to find a good post / thread where it describes this kind of scenario in a step by step way nor what happens to the identity range management.
If you could share any light on this or point me to the right English terms to describe the above scenario, thanks in advance.
Olivier
PS: We only have STD edition, so peer to peer and AG are not available to US. (which is why we are using merge)
PS2: One way I could see this work is if I manually set the identity columns in the tables so that they won't overlap and make the range management manual. Then just setup publications / distributors and subscribers on each node. (But if I can dodge the
manual management, it be great)Hi Brandon,
Thx for the reply
we are using web synchronization.
According to the documentation ('The business logic handler you specify is executed for every row that is synchronized.') I would think this will do exactly the same as our trigger on the article.
When we would use a business logic handler to update the record which is just uploaded to the Publisher I think we will end up with the same checksum error.
We worked around the problem by not changing the status of orders once they are uploaded to the Publisher.
For that part of the process we now have only 2 statusses anymore :
- Not to be sent to central server
- Upload(ed) to central server.
So an order is created at the subscriber and has the status 'not to be sent to central server'
In a synchro-window the user can mark orders which must be uploaded to the central server.
Only when the users clicks on the synchro button the orders which are marked (on screen) to be synchronised will get the status 'Upload(ed) to central server' and the pull subscriptions is started.
On the central server we process only the articles with the status 'Upload(ed) to central server'.
Before we had the statusses :
- Not to be sent to central server
- Upload to central server.
- Uploaded to central server.
And we had our own trigger on the Publisher which updated the status of records from 'Upload to central server ' to 'uploaded to central server' which was not reliable because we often had checksum errors on that article. -
Huge size scheme export in standard edition
Hi,
Source:-
Oracle 10.2.0.3 standard edition on Linux.
Destination:-
Oracle 11gR2 - enterprise edition.
I have to export a scheme of size 250+ gb, it taking long time to export as we do not have parallelism too in STD edition.
Is there any way? Where I can perform export & import faster?
Constraint is expdp of schema taking 30+ hours, so If transportable tablespaces, then is there any compatibility problem with source and destination versions and editions?
An what is the procedure?
Thanks.Hemant K Chitale wrote:
Can i use 11gR2 binaries to perform TTS of 10g Std edition database?
You could concurrently run multiple export sessions with table lists --- but you wouldn't get data consistency if the tables are being updated. Thanks for your information.
This question is now out of TTS, talking in general expdp/impdp.
I have posted this question in Export/import division of Database, But no quick responses so i moved my question to Database-General.
Solomon Yakobson mentioned we can use 11gR2 binaries to perform export schema of 10g database, from below link.

Can we configure in GRID. which target DB is on Standard edition?
Hi,
I have GRID setup of 11gR1 and DB is 11gR2 Enterprise edition on Linux 64 bit
I want to know, Can we install agent on Target server? But target server DB has STD edition of 10g.
Please let me know if any one done with this.Hello,
I have GRID setup of 11gR1 and DB is 11gR2 Enterprise edition on Linux 64 bit
I want to know, Can we install agent on Target server? But target server DB has STD edition of 10g.Yes, you can have a Target server DB in 10g Standard Edition.
However, the Repository of the Grid Control should be necessary in Enterprise Edition.
NB: The Repository is a technical database. So you don't have to pay additional fees for it.
Please have a look on this Note of My Oracle Support, it will give useful Certification Matrix:

Migration of windows 2008 std 32bit DC to windows 2012 std
i have 32bit DC in my local environment having schema ver 44.. now i hav another server and want to migrate to windows 2012 std edition.. can some one guide me how to achieve this task?
Hi Babarmunir,
In-place upgrades from 32-bit to 64-bit architectures are not supported. All editions of Windows Server 2012 are 64-bit only.
Domain controllers that run 64-bit versions of Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2 can be upgraded to Windows Server 2012. You cannot upgrade domain controllers that run Windows Server 2003 or 32-bit versions of Windows Server 2008. To replace
them, install domain controllers that run a later version of Windows Server in the domain, and then remove the domain controllers that Windows Server 2003.
Hence you need to have a fresh x64 machine which you can join to domain and install ADDS Role then promote as additional domain controller.
Provided the Forest Functional Level is Windows Server 2003 at minimum.
Upgrading previous retail versions of Windows Server to Windows Server 2012:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-in/library/jj574204.aspx
Upgrade Domain Controllers to Windows Server 2012 R2 and Windows Server 2012
Use the below guide to setup the ADC:
Step-By-Step: Adding a Windows Server 2012 Domain Controller
System requirements for Windows Server 2012 are unchanged from Windows Server 2008 R2. For more information, seeWindows Server 2008 R2 with SP1 System Requirements (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/en/us/system-requirements.aspx).
The Schema and Domain preparation: One could run
Adprep prior to ADDS Role installation, Regardless, if Adprep is not detected, it will automatically be completed on your behalf.
