Step by Step change of IP's in Two node Cluster WIndows 2003 server

Hi,
I am looking for step by step information for changing IP's in Two Node windows 2003 cluster setup. Information on KB on technet as well on windows site, not covering step by step details. If anyone had experience of change IP's in WIndows 2003 cluster environment,
Please share, it will be great help.
Regards,
Avnish

If you have done the setup correctly and have two separate networks, changing IPs is pretty straightforward.
Make sure both networks can carry cluster communications.
Change the NICs on ONE network (usually the private network) only.
Validate the nodes can communicate over that network.
Change the NICs on the PUBLIC network.
Change the clustered IP addresses. Note that some clustered services may require a restart to accept the new IP address.

  • Oracleparameter changes date format on windows 2003 server

Hi, i am using a stored procedure that contains a datetime-field. The date i am sending is formatted as "2007-05-30", but when it comes to the oracle-server, the date has been reformatted to "30-MAY-07".
I am using ODP.NET within the VS.2005. In web.config i have set the uiculture and culture to sv-SE, the settings on the webserver to Swedish without any positive results.
So, when i send away a date within the ODP commandparameter it rearrange the date from the component to the server. Any ideas to solve this problem? I have searched the net without any luck. Hopefully someone can help me in the right direction?
I was looking at setting NLS_LANG = SWEDISH with a first call to the database, but i have not tried that yet. Also, the code works fine on my local computer - so the translation of date is just on the windows 2003 server.

  • Steps to move application DB( MSSql) from windows 2003 server to windows 2008 server.

    Hi All,
I am new to DB. We need to move application's MSSQL DB(Currently used DB version is Microsoft SQL server 2008 R2)from windows server 2003 to windows
    2008.
Please advice steps to accomplish this task. How to make sure DB moved without any errors?
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hello,
As mentioned by Visakh, a side-by-side upgrade can be performed by using backup/restore and detach/attach methods.
Additionally, you can transfer logins from
one SQL Server instance to the other by using the following article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/918992
The following article may be useful about transferring not only the databases, but jobs, DTS, alerts, operators.
Consider scripting any existing linked server.
    Hope this helps.

  • Change IP Address on Oracle 9i Windows 2003/2008 Server

If I will change the IP Address on an Oracle 9i windows 2003 Server, in a client/server environment, will that cause problems in the database.
Ofcource I will change the lisner.ora script IP address and I will make new alias names on the clients.
    Thanks in advance
    Dimitrios

    Dear Dimitrios!
If you have a DNS-Server in your network then it should be very easy to change your IP-Address because Oracle uses DNS-Names in its configuration. Therefore you don't have to change the Oracle configurationfiles tnsnames.ora and listener.ora. If you don't use DNS then there also shouldn't be any problems if you change your IP-Address in the tnsnames.ora and the listener.ora files.
    Yours sincerely

  • Maverick issues forcing change over to Lion or back to a Windows Server!

With all of the Maverick problems that we are having running against the Adobe CC design suite we are thinking about installing a new OSX Lion server in its place. Has anyone switched out their Maverick for Lion and fixed the probs?  We are running on the Mac Mini platform. Adobe CC continues to have layer issues with some graphics files. We now only work on the desktop and not actively connected to the MacMini server running Maverick 10.9.2. Mac now has 10.9.3 in beta with developers but we just dont know if we want to wait and hope that they fix all of the issues that Adobe is having with the Maverick operating system. The funny thing and ironic thing about our situation is that the MacMini server took over for a Windows 2003 server that never had ANY issues with Adobe CC or CS6. As soon as we switched we started having multiple issues forcing us to change how we do everything. Now it is either back to a Windows server or a OSX Lion replacement as we have heard that Lion had none of these issues.
    <Email Edited by Host>

    THIS PROBLEM IS SOLVED!!!!
We bought another Mac Mini server and loaded it with OS 10.8.5 Mountain Lion with Apple server 2.2 and all of our corruption issues went away. The weird thing is that files cleared up right before our eyes even those that we thought were permanently corrupt. We have been running for a solid week now with no issues. If you are having similar issues this is the way to go. The only problem you may have is with Apple as they did not make it easy for us to obtain the software and a valid key to install it. It seems if they start an issue, with a bad OS, they need to provide better customer service for those who want to step back. This would be considered customer service 101 and greatly appreciated by a loyal customer base.

  • Change the User ID running the SunOne Directory Server 6.3 on Windows 2003

    Hi Experts,
I have an install of SunOne Directory Server Enterprise edition 6.3 running on Windows 2003 server. It was installed using the Zip distribution and is running as a user ID in the Active Directory the server is part of. We are trying to change the user ID to a service account (not the current ID which belongs to a person), so that the Sun DS can run as a service within Windows 2003 server. Need help in doing this without having to re-install the Directory server. Has anyone done this and is it possible to do?

Thank you very much for the insights and the responses sharmy28.
    Appreciate it very much.
All I had to do was change the setting in this file only:
Open the file dsee6/cacao_2/etc/cacao/instances/default/private/cacao.properties and change the below line with new id...
    # Define username and groupname for cacao process
    process.username=sunadmin
    process.groupname=sungroup
As this is Windows 2003 and the installs are all default values, I had to reboot the server for the change to take effect.
The file dsee6/cacao_2/usr/lib/cacao/lib/tools/scripts/globals.cfg does not exist. However the same file exists under the perl directory as globals.pl and the settings you specified are present there. In our case these were commented out and so I left them as is.
Thanks once again for your responses which helped me solve the issue we had.
    Thanks.

  • How to change domain name on Windows 2003 running Exchange 2007

    Hi all,
I have a windows 2003 server running Exchange 2007.  I am wanting to rename the domain, however when I search the web for the process to perform a rename of the domain I see "The domain rename operation is not supported in Microsoft Exchange Server 2007".
How can a domain name be changed?  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc781575%28v=ws.10%29.aspx
The server runs active directory, dns, dhcp, and Exchange 2007.
This change is being inspired by the change with SSL certs where internal addresses like .local will no longer be supported in the third party certificate registrars.  Recently we renewed our cert and did not include the .local URL.  Now the internal
systems are getting warnings about the cert.   I tried generating an internal self signed cert but it seems only one cert can be valid with exchange 2007 running on windows 2003.  Thus the internal cert replaced the external cert and allowed
the internal systems to run without complaining about the cert but the external access was causing warnings.  I reversed back to the third party cert.  This cert has company.com and mail.company.com and autodiscovery.  I believe if I rename
the server to server2.company.com the autodiscovery will allow the server2 to be mapped to company.com and the cert will be valid for internal clients.
Do I have this correct?  Are there errors with what I have found so far?
Any suggestions about how to solve this issue short of getting a new server? How can I rename the domain?

    Hi,
As you mentioned, the domain rename is not supported in Microsoft Exchange Server 2007.
About your question with certificate, we can change URLs to xxx.domain.com. More details about this workaround, please refer to:
    https://support.microsoft.com/kb/940726?wa=wsignin1.0
Note: please make sure the same name with certificate.
Additional, Microsoft do not recommended to install Exchange server on a DC. I suggest install Exchange server on a member server. More details to see:
Installing Exchange on a domain controller is not recommended

  • Order of steps to change IP segment address and it's resources - Windows 2008 R2

I have a 2 node cluster in windows 2008 R2 AD on an HP Proliant DL380 G6 server with an attached MSA2012sa DAS storage where the resources recite.  Resources are mainly data, no apps.
I need to change the IP segment/address of the cluster & storage to a new DS3 circuit.  I've tried to follow some of the discussion threads on this topic, but i'm confused.
Please advice the order I should do things:
    1.  in cluster manager, take resources offline, then change the cluster IP and the resources IP
--is it possible to change ips when it's offline?
--or should I shut down the cluster?  is it possible to change when cluster is shut down?
--where does the ip of cluster itself get changed?  I rt clicked on the cluster object and there is no option to change it
(in AD or in cluster manager).
    2.  in network properties of each physical node, change the public IP address
--Should I change one at a time, reboot, then do the other?
--Should changing node ip be done before changing cluster & resources ip?
--anything needs to be done to the quorum disk?
Advice will be very much appreciated.  I've read thru a bunch of threads on changing ip but I need to brake it down in order.  Thank you.
    -Cocoflor
    HR

Well, I gave it a try.  Only this was on a 2012 R2 cluster, so I cannot vouch for 2008 R2.  (But I have extreme faith in the cluster engineers that it most likely works the same there.  Again, prove it in a lab.)
Here is what I did.  I had a cluster with a single network and everything was configured on that network - let's call it old-NIC.  I added another network by adding a new NIC to each node - let-s call it new-NIC.  I configured that new-NIC
    on a different subnet.
    OLD CONFIGURATION:  Cluster IP - 192.168.1.30;  Cluster Access Point for clustered service 192.168.1.33;  Node1 IP - 192.168.1.31;  Node2 IP - 192.168.1.32
    NEW, DESIRED CONFIGURATION: Cluster IP - 192.168.2.30;  Cluster Access Point for clustered service 192.168.2.33;  Node1 IP - 192.168.2.31;  Node2 IP - 192.168.2.32
The old-NIC on node1 was configured with gateway and DNS registration.  I removed the gateway and DNS registration from this NIC.
I configured new-NIC on node1 with gateway and DNS.  I then issued an ipconfig /registerdns to get the new name for the node into DNS.
    Repeat above steps for node2.
I went into Cluster Manager and configured both old-NIC and new-NIC to be available for both Cluster and Client access.
I selected the properties of the CAP for the service and changed the IP address to new-NIC cluster IP.  When accepted, I executed another ipconfig /registerdns.
I then selected the cluster core resource IP and did the same thing - changed the IP to the new-NIC address.  When accepted, I executed another ipconfig /registerdns.
Obviously during the change in the IP addresses on the cluster, services became unavailable while the services were stopped/started to reconfigure with the addresses.  Once the change was made and the services back up and running, the services were
available via the new-NIC IP addresses.
There should be NO connections to the cluster during this change.  After updating the IP addresses on the cluster, you might have to issue an ipconfig /flushdns from the clients so they are forced to re-query DNS to be able to find things under the
    new IP addresses.
All tests were performed in lab VMs.

  • Help wanted - step by step process on how to use two ipods on one computer

I'm just in the process of getting an ipod (waiting on delivery!) and want to know how it is possible to have two ipods using the same computer but synchronizing differently. I don't want to risk losing my partners music (he'll be very upset!) and I don't want to end up with his music on my ipod. I'd appreciate it if someone could give me a step by step guide or tell me where the best place to look for the answer is. Is it possible somehow to have two different libraries on one computer? Is that how it works?

There are a couple of methods for using more than one iPod on a single computer. Have a look at the article linked below. Method one is to have two Mac or Windows user accounts which by definition would give you two completely separate libraries. Method two as Chris has already described above is to set your preferences so each iPod is updated with only certain playlists within one library. Have a look anyway and see what you think and go for whichever you feel suits your needs best: How To Use Multiple iPods with One Computer

    Hi etst123,
Thanks a lot for ur reply.
I have already gone through the site you have given and performed the following steps, pls correct me if I am wrong:-
1.) Downloaded the patch for Windows - (126753-04)
2.) After downloading the patch i got the following folders
         a) DSEE_Directory_Editor
         b) DSEE_Identity_Synchronization_for_Windows
         c) DSEE_ZIP_Distribution
         d) Legal
    3) I am trying to install in "To Install Directory Server Enterprise Edition 6.3 From Zip Distribution"
    4) After this i ran - "dsee_deploy install -i install-path options" in "c:\dsee" folder
Its installing without any error telling
"You can now start your Directory Server Instances
You can now start your Directory Proxy Server Instances"
To start Directory Server Instance have followed the below steps:-
    1) C:\tmp\dsee63\DSEE_ZIP_Distribution>cd \tmp\ds63
    2) C:\tmp\ds63> set PATH=c:\tmp\ds63\ds6\bin;c:\tmp\ds63\dsrk6\bin;%PATH%
    3) C:\tmp\ds63>dsadm create /tmp/instance
    4) C:\tmp\ds63>dsadm start /tmp/instance
-Modify the ds-start-tls-enabled attribute that is stored in the directory server configuration.
5). Create a file, say c:\tmp\modify.ldif which looks like:
    dn: cn=config
    changetype: modify
    replace: ds-start-tls-enabled
    ds-start-tls-enabled: on
6). Issue an ldapmodify command something like this:
    C:\tmp>ldapmodify -h localhost -p 1389 -D "cn=Directory Manager" -w password < c:\tmp\modify.ldif
7). Confirm modification via ldapsearch command:
    C:\tmp>ldapsearch -b "cn=config" -h localhost -p 1389 -D "cn=Directory Manager" -w password "cn=config" ds-start-tls-enabled
8). Stop and restart the directory server instance
    C:\tmp\ds63>dsadm stop /tmp/instance
    C:\tmp\ds63>dsadm start /tmp/instance
9). Try creating a suffix with the standard port (1389): (This is where i am gettin error)
    C:\tmp\ds63>dsconf create-suffix -h localhost -p 1389 dc=example1,dc=com
    Error= The "create-suffix" operation failed on "localhost:1389"
