Thanks for the info. Was also looking for a step by step guide on installtion of all the different modules, i.e. mail, profile manager, wiki for example. Maybe im just to use to windows server but the mac server just seems too simple. Maybe i am over complicating things.

Step by step guide to setup remote access to 2012 Standard?

Our SBS 2011 server crashed and burned, so we are setting up a brand new server with Windows Server 2012 Standard. We can't find any sort of step by step instructions for enabling employees to access the network from home. Any suggestions?

How to setup IOS DHCP server for redundancy?

The customer has 2 core (cat6). Plan to enable DHCP service on them for IP phones.
How to setup them so there is a redundancy for DHCP service?

Setup two routers and have them split the range of addresses that they lease out. The pools should be non overlapping.

Dhcp server setup

I am trying to setup a dhcp server.
I am using the following dhcp.conf:

when I try to start the server with "/etc/rc.d/dhcpd start"
I get this:
Starting dhcpd............. [FAIL]
in dmesg I see this:
dhcpd: no ipv6 routers found
are they linked? is dhcpd failing because of no ipv6 routers? or am I missing some configuration?

forget about IPv6, it is not a major problem
1 Do you need your server for pxe booting? I don't know much about it...
2 What is the name of the dhcp server you're using there? Are you sure that the config file is called dhcp.conf? ( for the dhcp package it has to be dhcpd.conf)
3 Is your IP address range correct? I mean are you on the same network as your future clients and you share the same IP range? If your server is not on the same network it will not work...
I've tried your config with my machines, it works fine - after I've modified the IP range for my network ( 192.168.1.x)

Internal DHCP Server on Wireless not working

I'm facing some problems to setup a DHCP server on a WLC 2504. I'll try to resume my configuration:
I have 2 networks: inside users (vlan 1) and external users (vlan)
My controller uses the port 1 to connect to the switch, which has a trunk with WLC.
I have two routers, one using vlan 1 (192.168.3.0/24) and one using vlan 10 (200.X.X.X). All ports to these routers are access ports on their respective vlans.
I have 2 SSID, one for inside, other to outside. Inside is working very well.
To the outside I created a DHCP escope and already set the IP of the management interface 192.168.3.119.
Managemente interface (vlan 1 inside): 192.168.3.119/24
Outside interface (vlan 10): 200.X.X.195 - Default gateway 200.X.X.X.193
I alredy checked the DHCP Proxy in Advanced option.

I see your device connected twice. it connected to the first SSID successfully and I can see it got IP 192.168.3.206.
Then it tries to get an ip from the other scope!! (while as the debugs show it is already connected and in RUN state).
That is strange!!
a question: do you have DHCP required enabled under your WLAN?

Setup of Xwindows - step by step guide for SLES 11.3 reqd

I have used Unix before but I am new to SLES and I need to run a gui based installer on a new AWS image of SUSE 11.3.
I wanted to remove Putty/SSH complications from the equation so for now, to check if XWindows is working I directly connected to the SLES desktop using xRDP as ec2-user, and from xterm I issued the following commands:
su - root
export TERM=xterm
export DISPLAY=localhost:0.0
After checking the variables, I launched xclock but it fails making me conclude that Xwindows is not correctly configured or running.
Can anyone point me towards a step by step guide on how to setup XWindows, or given my dated knowledge, is there a better way to run a gui-based program?

A couple thoughts:
1. If this is just SLES (and not Open Enterprise Server (OES) then you
may want to post in the SUSE forums (https://forums.suse.com/) using the
same credentials that you used to access this site.
2. It sounds like you have X working already since you were able to acess
the system using xRDP. Is there a reason you cannot just start the
installer from there? Alt+F2 to run things usually, I think. If you are
using Gnome, I think 'gksu' or 'gksudo' will start things as a privileged
user from the current non-root user after sufficient credentials are
entered; from the KDE side of things I use 'kdesu' all of the time for the
same thing. This avoids loading a shell, changing to root, forwarding X,
etc. as you are trying to do.
3. Going back to your attempt, I do not see you allowing access to your X
session anywhere so that 'root' can connect with its new process. Before
you change to root, you need to instruct your current X session to allow
other users to throw things onto your desktop (usually not a good thing).
The easy way is to just run 'xhost +' from a shell, maybe before running
'su'; note that if other users are on the system they can now send shells
your way forever, and that may not be fun.

HP LaserJet 4050N set up using IP *SUCCESSFUL step-by-step guide*

I have had sooo many difficulties in attempting to set up my HP LaserJet 4050N using an IP address connected to my iMac via Ethernet… but tonight I have finally succeeded! So for the benefit of anyone else who is having difficulties here is a complete step-by-step guide to how I achieved it.
1.
In ‘System Preferences’ in ‘Network’, I made sure that ‘Ethernet’ is set to the following:
‘Configure IPv4: Using DHCP’
Two numbers are given:
‘IP Address’ and ‘Subnet Mask’
(you might need to click ‘Renew DHCP Lease’ by clicking ‘Advanced’ and under ‘TCP/IP’ clicking ‘Renew DHCP Lease’)
WRITE BOTH OF THESE DOWN!

Go to ‘Applications’ folder and click on ‘Utilities’ and open ‘Network Utility’. Click on the ‘Info’ tab and from the drop-down menu select ‘Ethernet’.
The ‘IP Address’ should be the same as that given in the ‘Network’ settings panel for the Ethernet port.
3.
On my HP LaserJet 4050N I went through the following menus:
Click the green ‘GO’ button until the display reads ‘Offline’
Click ‘MENU’ 7 times or until ‘EIO 2 JETDIRECT MENU’ shows
Press ‘ITEM’ button until ‘CFG NETWORKJ=NO *’ is displayed
Press ‘VALUE’ button until value reads ‘YES’
Press ‘SELECT’
Press ‘ITEM’ button until ‘CFG TCP/IP=NO*’ is displayed
Press ‘VALUE’ button until value reads ‘YES’
Press ‘SELECT’
Press ‘ITEM’ button until ‘BOOTP=NO’ is displayed (or press ‘VALUE’ button until value reads ‘NO’ and then press ‘SELECT’)
Press ‘ITEM’ button until
‘IP BYTE 1=XXX’ is displayed and where I have put ‘XXX’ using the ‘VALUE’ button enter the first number of the ‘IP’ address given in ‘Network Utility’.
Repeat this procedure for ‘BYTE 2, 3 AND 4’ by using entering a value each time using the ‘VALUE’ button and then pressing ‘SELECT’ before finally moving onto the next ‘IP BYTE’ value using the ‘ITEM’ button.
After all of the ‘IP’ values have been entered pressing the ‘ITEM’ button will display ‘SM BYTE 1=XXX’ – this is the ‘Subnet Mask’ value. Follow the same process as for the ‘IP’ address and enter the values given in the ‘Ethernet’ pane in ‘Network’ under ‘System Preferences’.
After entering the final ‘Subnet Mask (SM)’ value (BYTE 4) press ‘SELECT’ and finally press the green ‘GO’ button.
As soon as the green ‘GO’ button has been pressed the ‘IP’ value in both ‘Network’ (under ‘System Preferences’) and ‘Network Utility’ (Applications/Utilities) will change to display a new ‘IP’ address. The ‘Subnet Mask’ value displayed in ‘Network’ (under ‘System Preference’s should display the same ‘Subnet Mask’ value).

Now close ‘Network Utility’.
Click on the ‘SHOW ALL’ tab in the open ‘NETWORK’ window.
Click on ‘Print & Fax’ in ‘System Preferences’.
Click on the ‘+’ tab on the left of the ‘Printers’ Pane.
Click on the ‘IP’ tab.
From the drop down menu ‘Select HP Jetdirect – Socket.’
Now in the Address field enter the ‘IP’ values that you entered in the printer (and that you wrote down earlier).
Once entered click ‘Add’.
I really hope that what has worked for me works for anyone else who is struggling to set up their HP printer using IP over Ethernet. Please post any success.

Several comments to clarify your instructions.
They mostly expose my simple minded understanding of computers....
1. At the line in part 3 beginning with " ‘IP BYTE 1=XXX’ is displayed...", the 'XXX' means the first set of numbers before the first '.' in the IP address. For an IP address of '78.123.4.56', that means '78'. You push the 'VALUE' button many times if the number is three digits. IP Byte 2 for the same IP address is '123'. Etc.
2. When you have finished all the steps, it works! What a relief.
The printer will appear in the print dialog box as an IP address.
3.You can change the name of the printer if you want.
Go to System Preferences>Print&Fax
Select the printer. (it is listed by its IP address number)
On the right side of the box will appear several buttons.
One button is 'Options & Supplies'. Click it.
Another box will drop down.
Choose 'General' from the 'General / Driver / Supply Levels' buttons at the top of the box.
The name of the printer will be defaulted as the IP address.
Type in whatever name you want for the printer
Click 'OK'
4. It may be possible to go one step further and connect the HP LaserJet 4050N
printer to the computer through an airport express, but I have
had enough frustration the past two weeks that I am not that curious. Yet.

Is there a step by step guide to using the N82 (Orange UK) as a modem for a Mac running Mac OS X 10.5.5 either via Bluetooth or USB ?
I've tried to get this to work following Nokia's instructions on the N82 support pages but they reference an older version of OS X and 10.5 is very different setup wise it appears.

Your best bet is using as a Bluetooth modem although they have hidden away the APN field under advanced configuration options for bluetooth modems.

Active dataguard is option after configuring dataguard.
You can put standby database in Open(read only) mode also you can enable Recover(MRP) while open so this can be used for reporting purpose too.

Hi Puneet,
Your question is broad and without an idea of your system setup, its hard to provide an answer that would meet your needs.
The previous post has provided you with some documentation, some helpful tips for you would be getting familiar with some of the HCM transactions, such as PA20/30, PO03, PO10, PO13, PPOSE to see what data and relationships are availble to users.
I would then have a look at some of the common HR authorisation objects that can be used, such as PLOG, P_PERNR, P_PCLX, etc you can access these by going to PFCG > Environment > Auth Objects > Display... read the documentation against them. Note that some auth objects need to be turned on for checking in the system if you want them to be used.. P_PERNR is one of them..
Restricting users by what data they should see is important, you need to determine whether you want to use structural authorisations (PD profiles) or not. This could rely on whether your organisation is currently maintaining the organisational structure? There are advantages of Structural auths and many disadvantages. Check transaction OOSP and OOSB, one of these will allow you to create a PD Profile and limit it to HR Objects...
The best way to get familiar with all this is by setting up a test user and test role. (trial and error).
Obviously there are a lot of factors that you need to consider when attempting a HR security build, but I hope some of this information will point you in the right direction.

I installed MSA on laptop, setup the communication station adn Conntrans. But conntrans gives me the error when I try to run it. I checked the commnication station, anmd it says "can not reach to destination server, server is unavailable" though the server deatils are correct.
I must have miss something during comm station setup.

I don't know your scenario and your ECC and PI versions but I learned how to use ABAP Proxy more than 1 year ago with the following tutorial:

The way to develop ABAP Proxys has changed a little if your PI is 7.1. In the ECC side, the transaction SPROXY looks much better too if you have a recent version of the ECC.

This Knowledge is derived from three forum members, DutyFarm, ChoosingNameCanBeSoXXX & Dei_Machiavelli.
I just add the solution for generate the .xcent file.

Welcome that if anyone find that this step by step guide not detail enough, you can copy and add more points and post again.
Step 1:
Make sure that all the Icons for the iPad are accounted for because if you don't, Application Loader will Scream
[For some strange reason, you have to add the Old iPhone Icon Size as well]:
                         Old iPhone: 57 by 57 [Icon]
             Start Up Icon for iPad: 72 by 72 [Icon-iPad.png].
SpotLight Search for iPad Must Have: 48 by 48 [Icon-iPad-spot.png]
Step 2:
Load the Mac, unzip your *.ipa file, place the *.app file on your desktop and modify its internal Info.plist file.
Change 3.0 to 3.2 here:

Step 3:
Because after you change the Info.plist file by your own way, the file will changed to wrong codesign.
So that will need this step to change it back to right codesign which can success upload to apple store.

I just put all files at the iPad folder at system disk root. so that the path just /iPad/ .
OK, if no error come out, congrats that you are done. You can upload the app by Application Loader. (Assume that you know what is it, and need to zip you .ipa before upload)
BUT, LIKE ME and some member here, we see two error after the Step 4 command as below:
/Users/kevs/Desktop/MyApp.xcent: unrecognized blob type (accepting blindly)
/Users/kevs/Desktop/MyApp.xcent: invalid length in entitlement blob
After few night try..... finally I found out the solution and just successfully submit the iPad App!!!
The main problem was we used a wrong method to create that stupid MyApp.xcent file!!!!
I used many many method, use Mac text editor, Window notepad, Mac/ Window Dreamweaver as .xml......
but all facing the strange "invalid length in entitlement blob"
why invalid length?!?! so I try to search for what is .xcent..... finally I found the following webpage

then..... I FOUND .xcent NOT ONLY A SAMLPE TEXT FILE!!!!!
in the middle of the link above, there are a highlighted simple script , which is a python script to help us generate a .xcent entitlement file!!!!!

1) just download the .py file here: simple script
2) put the .py file anywhere you like, or just simply put in the root of you mac
3) turn on the Terminal (in /Applications/Utilities), goto the folder where you put the .py
4) TYPE: python gen_entitlements.py 5C297XXXXX.com.yourdomain.MyApp myApp.xcent
    Where 5C297XXXXX.com.yourdomain.MyApp is your AppID with BundleID,
    myApp.xcent is the file will be generate to you
5) Finally you can see the .xcent which make me nearly crazy for a week!!!!!!!!
6) Use this .xcent file to run that codesign script (Step 4 above)
7) Congratulation the codesign changed and you can zip your app and upload it
I have spent many hours for this simple stuff.........so sad........>.<

As I wrote earlier, WS_TEST is my user into which I load JAX-RPC client. To consume WebService I use utl_dbws.invoke(call_Handle CALL, request SYS.XMLTYPE) function.
