Step by Step iCloud iTunes 10.3

Can someone post a step by step for dummies on how to turn on the music part og iCloud in iTunes 10.3 and IOS 4.3?
From my iPad I found out how to see and manually download music not on my iPad but in the Cloud.
But from iTunes I cannot see , let alone download, music bought on iPad.
Also no automatice synch in any direction.

I have purchased new music via iTunes on my iPhone, but can't find a way to download this music from the iCloud to the iTunes library on my Mac. There is no Music option in the preferences, or tab in the Purchased (NEW) area in iTunes Store. Why? See my screenshot

I have been reasearching how to do this on the internet, but I haven't found an easy explanation yet. My family is going crazy over each others imessages being sent to others in the family and not being able to use FaceTime because of conflicting email addresses. I have read that if each person gets their own iCloud account, this would work. However, I need to know what to do after I set everyone up with their own iCloud account. Do I make that the default email address to be contacted or can they still use their hotmail email addresses. Any help- with easy explanation- would be much appreciated!!

We do this in my family now. We have one account for purchases, so it is used to share music and apps (I think that is in Settings/iTunes & App Stores). Each iDevice has this configured.
Then, each of us has our own iCloud account that is configured under Settings/iCloud. That then allows us to have our own Mail/Contacts/Calendars/Reminders/Safari Bookmarks/Notes/Passbook/Photo Stream/Documents & Data/Find My iPhone/and Backup. That Backup piece is pretty sweet and comes in handly if you replace your iDevice. You can just restore from it.
So we all share the Apple Store account but we all have our own iCloud accounts to keep the rest seperate or things like you mentioned are a nightmare.

Think of it as an internet based ("cloud") area for all of those items listed in my response. What you need to remember is photo stream only maintans the last 1000 pictures so don't count it as a complete backup solution for your pictures. Even though I rarely sync with a computer these days, I do still try to sync my phone with iPhoto (I have an iMac) so that I have copies of all of my pictures. 1000 may not stretch as far as it sounds.

Deleted icloud from my iphone and it deleted all my contacts, calendar events etc etc. i then stupidly i think synced my phone. I want to back up from computer to phone to see if I can restore contacts - can someone tell me step by step how to do this?

can anyone help me please. i stupidly deleted icloud as i thought that was what was giving me problems with phone. didnt realise it would delete all my contacts as well. i then, again stupidly I think, synced my phone backing up the phone to the computer and probably overriding the cotnacts that were on my computer? Anyway, can anyone tell me how you back up from the computer BACK TO THE PHONE to see if I can get my contacts back? Would be very grateful if you could give me the step by step idiots guide as I am really nervous around technical stuff

All sorted! dont suppose you know how to fix another problem I have??? for weeks now, since updating to ios5 I think, for some reason every time I have tried to log onto app store it says CANNOT CONNECT TO ITUNES STORE. It's nothing to do with my computer, and I've been to the Geniius bar but they couldnt help and nothing I seem to do lets me update my Apps and even worse, I cant even buy any more. Any suggestions?

Create and delete iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch backups in iTunes - Apple Support - link doesn't state that voicemail is part of the backup
iCloud: iCloud storage and backup overview states that VVM is part of the icloud backup.
You can also contact your cell phone provider - as voicemail is a carrier feature.

Well you must have made a mistake somewhere. The last instruction of step four reads:
When you've found your iTunes library folder, drag that folder to your external hard drive. This will begin the iTunes backup. The amount of time the backup will take depends on the size of your library. When the transfer is done, your backup is complete and your external hard drive can be disconnected.
Normally dragging content from to a new location on a different drive will result in a copy action which is what you were supposed to do. At a guess you somehow managed to move the iTunes folder. Then when you started iTunes it created a new blank library for you assuming it had just been installed rather that raising a warning.
Close iTunes. Rename the iTunes folder on the internal drive as iTunes (Empty) then copy the iTunes folder from the external back into the User's Music folder. Start iTunes. All should be well.
When you've made sure it all works please read my User Tip and use that method to backup in future. Since you already have a folder with the backup in place you can skip the "Make New" operation in the fourth step and simply choose the external folder.

I want to update my IPad's operating system but when I tried to so, I got a message at Itunes advising all my apps would be removed? Is there a step by step guide for doing this update and retaining my apps? I am completely lost....

I want to update my 1st generation IPad which has a current OS of 4.2.1 to the latest 5.0 OS. First copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases. You should also backup the device (right-click the iPad 'device' and select 'back up'), and copy off any important documents, files, notes etc (e.g. by email, the file sharing section at the bottom of the Apps tab on your computer's iTunes, via wifi, whatever the apps that you use support) - the update process should backup and restore the content but it's best to be safe.

When I have done this, all I did was network the two machines and copy the contents of the iTunes folder to the other machine, and that's it.
My understanding (which may not be 100% correct) is that the one file that is absolutely necessary is iTunes Library, and that the XML file is actually a copy auto-generated from the iTunes Library, appearing in a different format only for non-iTunes apps that take advantage of the iTunes Library data.
As far as I know, if you simply have the Library (database) file and all your original music files, iTunes on that computer should operate as it did on your old computer. I believe that the Album Artwork, Genius Data, and XML files can be regenerated from the Library file. Not sure about the Extras file.

Need step by step directions for moving itunes library to external HD

About to crash my PC...recently purchased apple tv and kids have bought many movies and tv shows. They are filling my hard drive - between movies, tv and music I have 756 GB. Searching the problem on this board, i think eternal HD is solution. Can someone give me step by step directions? Could you also included info on how to make sure I move everything - I am worried that some tv shows have not been synced to the PC - are only on apple tv (is that possible?). When I open itunes it says "syncing episode..." but never seems to complete - think not enough room. Sorry to be so needy, but I don't want to mess this up! Lots of kid's personal income sunk into the inventory. Thank you.
