Step by Step instructions needed to compress a 39KB file into a 20MB PDF

Newbie needs help.
I have a 39KB AI file I need to compress into a 20MB PFD while retaining all image quality for print. Thank you so much!

A 20MB file is pretty big. Are you sure that you don't mean a 20KB file. That's where everyone is confused about what you are asking. Saving your file from AI as a PDF and choosing Smallest File Size in the Second dialog will probably give you the smallest file you can get.

    Hi Bill,
    It sounds like your document has a lot of pages and/or images in it.
    Instead of using the normal InDesign > Export command to create a PDF, you may be able to reduce the file size by printing to a PostScript file, then distilling it to PDF using Acrobat Distiller.

    How do I convert from PDF to Word step by step instructions needed..am practically computer illiterate@

    Ok, fine. That isn't Acrobat, and that's why our instructions weren't much use. (But it's worth saying "I didn't have that option" rather than "it's not converting", we could end up wasting a lot of your time with the wrong stuff!)
    Anyway, the free Adobe Reader can't do this conversion without a subscription called either ExportPDF or PDF Pack. You may have had one in the past. Are you still paying for one?

    I need to turn an indesign document into an editable pdf, how do I do that?

    InCopy is a solution, but it's not the only viable solution.
    I update many books, from 200 pages to 3,200 pages every year, long document, very techincal tax books.
    Some are done through InCopy, some are edited word files and rtfs exported from InDesign, some are marked up hard copies etc.
    It totally depends on the clients technical ability with computers. Last year I taught over 30 authors of ours how to use InCopy. Some were receptive, some were dubious, some were totally clueless.
    And on the dubious and totally clueless I spent more time troubleshooting their problems than I would normally with a Word/RTF option.
    Some people are capable of switching to InCopy or even know how to use it in the first place. For anyone never used InDesign or InCopy before then it's a massive learning curve to jump from MS Word et al word processors, to InCopy.
    I do agree, it is the best solution that's out there, technically. But that solution is not usable by a lot of people.
    Yeh if the client is comfortable with InCopy then it's the way forward.
    But in most cases, in my experience, it's faster and more efficient to Export the text as RTF and let the author update the RTF. That leaves you in control of reinserting the text and formatting it correctly. Rather than letting the client add bold, underline, italics, superscript, subscripts, crazy workarounds because they didn't know how to do it properly. And in the end you end up with 2 or 3 times the amount of work than is necessary, just cleaning up what the client has done in InCopy that does not suit the overall formatting of the publications.

  • Do I need to compress video before importing into DVD SP?

    Hello,
    this is probably stupid question, but I would like to know, if I need to compress my video before I import it into DVD SP as an asset. It looks like everyone use Compressor before importing into DVD SP, (setting up number of passes, bit rates and so on), and then they do it again when setting up preferences in DVD SP. (setting 1 pass or 2passes, bit rate values)
    So is not the video actually compressed twice? Once in Compressor and once in DVD SP?
    And also, what video formats are actually OK to import into DVD SP? (QT, AVI, FCP movie, etc)
    Does DVD SP take them all, or does it only have to be QT?
    Thank you and I appologize for these novice questions.

    m2v will not be recompressed when placed on tracks (though in some instances it may recompress on menus.) Ultimately it is better to compress outside of DVD SP for control of encodes (and making AC3 files) and also some formats may not be supported by importing into DVD SP directly.

  • Need help importing canon xf files into final cut X

    Hello everyone, I am new to this site and am really appreciative of all the great information I have been able to obtain through everyones posts. I do realize this thred has been beat to death and apologize in advance for being slow. I am in the same situation as I have an xf 300 and 100 and for the life of me cant get all my files into final cut X. It's about to drive me crazy! I have taken the steps to download PikaFoto's workflow tool for the xf files but I am still having problems understanding how to use the program. Thankyou for providing this program as I am grasping for anything I can to get through this problem. Can I take the files directly into this workflow tool or do I need to go through my xf utiliy program? I just need a basic process to go from my camera to final cut X. A few of you guys have aparently been able to make this work with the same problem so I know it has to be something my tiny brain has not been able to process yet. Any help would really be great. Thanks

    what a surprise...
    FCPX is - besides many other features - a highly complex data-base application.- Just dragging some content just somewhere isn't the workflow how a data-base.app can manage its data. I dare to say, your experiments distructed your file-structure irreversible.
    You should revert to some back-up BEFORE installing a beta.OS (!!) on a productive system.

  • Need help compiling external jar files into my one jar file from cmd line

    Here is my problem, let me see if I can explain it right:
    I am making a jar file on my development computer that will run my java project. In this java project, it references a couple Java3D jar files. On my development computer, I create the jar file and it runs correctly, but when I move that jar file over to the test computer, the parts of the application needing those Java3D jars are not found in my jar I created. I isolated the problem and it is because those Java3D jar files I needed are not on my test machine. But that is the way I need it to be. I need it so that when I compile all my code on the development machine, I need it to also compile those two Java3D files into my one jar that I move to the test machine. You get what I'm saying? I must do all the compiling from the command line and have only one jar file to put on the test machine that contains all my compiled code and the two Java3D files needed to run some of the applications in the project.
    Here a brief sample of what I'm doing:
    To compile my java files in my project, I simply to this for all my files:
    javac file.java
    javac file2.java... and so on for all my java files.
    Then I create my jar file:
    jar -cfm MyJar.jar manifest.mf file.class
    jar -fmu MyJar.jar manifest.mf file2.class... and so on for all my class files.
    Also when compiling my jar file, I do this thinking that it would include the two Java3D jars into my one jar file:
    jar -fmu MyJar.jar manifest.mf jars/j3d-org-images.jar
    jar -fmu MyJar.jar manifest.mf jars/j3d-org.jar
    My manifest file looks something like this:
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Main-Class: Main
    Class-Path: jars/j3d-org.jar jars/j3d-org-images.jar
    Do I have to have that Class-Path in there pointing to those jar files? Those jar files will not exist on my test machine because the directory structure will not be the same. I've tried a manifest without specifying my Class-Path to those jar files, but I get the same problem when I run my application on the part that needs the Java3D files.
    The error I am getting is that there is a RasterTextLabel class inside one of those Java3D jar files that my application cannot access because those jar files are not on my test machine.
    So basically what I really need to know is how I get those two Java3D jar files compiled into my one jar file that I move to a test machine and run with the following command:
    java -jar MyJar.jar
    Can anyone help me??
    Thanks.

    Here what you need is to have all the files present in a single jar file, and the classpath is set properly to the required jar files.
    Do the following in steps:
    1)
    Create a custom manifest file,say mymanifest.mf, with the following contenets, put it in current directory:
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Created-By: 1.4.0_01 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)
    main-Class: Main
    Class-Path: jars/j3d-org.jar jars/j3d-org-images.jar <press ENTER key>
    2)
    jar -cfm MyJar.jar manifest.mf file.class
    jar -fmu MyJar.jar manifest.mf file2.class... and so on for all class files.
    3)
    jar -fmu MyJar.jar manifest.mf jars/j3d-org.jar
    jar -fmu MyJar.jar manifest.mf jars/j3d-org-images.jar
    (Make sure that j3d-org-images.jar and j3d-org.jar are present in a subdirectory called 'jars')
    Now you would be able to run,
    java -jar myjar.jar

  • Compress two .jar file into a new .jar file

    Hi all, i would like to ask it there anyone know how to compress two or more .jar file into one new .jar file?
    because i'm currently need to engage with one big project which have to add 34 .jar file into JCreator, so that the relevant classes can be found when compile the code.
    another question is, what is the maximum archive can be add into JCreator? is it limited or unlimited?
    So, any idea from you all?
    Regards,
    poh_cc

    You should probably ask the authors of JCreator about the limitations of it.
    The classloader can't read jars from jars and I would advice against extracting all jars and jar all classes into one big fat jar.

  • I need to combine 2 swf files into 1 file

    I have a flash template that is controled by basicly 3 files website.swf, text.xml and index.html (there are a lot of supporting files)  When i put a video.swf in the xml file it runs with the website.swf as long as I don't turn on the sound on the video.swf because it will not stop.  So I needed some controls on the video.swf which is the skinunderall.swf, but the file comes in 2 pieces and will not intergrate on the website.swf.  I have about 18 video.swf files and they all need to be controlled by the user on the site.  Is there anyway to combine video.swf and the skinunderall.swf to ONE file with the controls?  I will settle for a start stop button, however once the file starts I can't touch it--it seems.  But I have turn the video.swf into a link and it was clickable.
    I read the captive thing but it seems to be out of date.  Oh yeah and I am a page one (begining) coder.
    Any help?

    Hi,
    "combine 2 swf files into 1 file" is a pretty abstract question. The short answer is - yes, you can, but you need an appropriate  software tool for that. But really it's not clear (for me) how all your files work together exactly. The only what I can derive from your explanation, is that you need to add an interactive control to some SWF files with embedded video, loadable into the main "envelope".
    In general all what you need are:
    - you must have some named mc within your "main" SWF, which will load your video SWF's into itself by loadMovie() function.
    - you need to have some controls (buttons, etc.) in your "main" movie. which will control this mc playback - mc.play(), mc.stop(), etc.
    I'm almost sure it's resolvable problem, but can you upload this template to let us see how it all works now? If you don't wish to disclose it all publically, then you may write to me personally. You can find email address at the bottom of the webpage in my signature.

  • Do I need to compress my MOV files?

    I have a Canon Rebel camera that records HD video. All I want to do is upload video files about 10 mins in length on average, and about 3 GB to youtube. But the estimated times for uploading is 560 minutes. Some quick google searches and I get the impression I'm supposed to compress video files before trying to upload to youtube--or my internet is just slow (it's not). Suggestions? What is the duration of your file? Basically, "the size a file" = "total duration of a file" x "the total average data rate of a file".
    Since you know the total playing time of your source file and hopefully have some idea as the size of the file you want to end up with, it should be a simple matter to calculate the data rate required to achieve your goal. Unfortunately, your expectations may or may not be realistic depending on the encode matrix dimensions you wish to use, the codecs you are trying to use and the quality you expect to retain. Without knowing the duration of this particular file, about the only advice that I could give would be to segment the output of your source file to multiple files each of which could then meet your specific requirements for size and quality.

  • Compressing a large file into a small file.

    So i have a pretty large file that i am trying to make very small with good quality. the file before exporting it is about 1gig. I need to make it 100mbs. Right now i've tried compressing it with the h.264 compressing type, and i am having to go as low as 300kbits. I use aac 48 for the audio. It is just way to pixelated to submit something like this. But i guess i could make the actual video a smaller size something like 720x480 and just letterboxing it to keep it widescreen? Any hints on a good way to make this 21 minute video around 100mbs?

    There are three ways to decrease the file size of a video.
    1. Reduce the image size. For example, the change of a 720x480 DV image to a 320x240 will decrease the size by a factor of 4
    2. Reduce the frame rate. For example, changing from a 30 fps to 15 fps will decrease the size by a factor of 2
    3. Increase the compression/ change code. This is the black magic part of online material. Only you can decide what's good enough.

  • Need to connect different swf files into one site

    I need to make this site like presentation for my next exam. I found a good template for a slide show. The presentation will be structured like this:
    MAIN PAGE with sidebar which links to:
    slide one with slideshow 1
    slide two with slideshow 2
    slide three with slideshow 3
    slide four with slideshow 4
    due to the nature of the code thou i cannot put the different slideshows into the same .swf file in different scenes (i copied and pasted them in each scene and modified the actionscript so they would refer to different pictures) because they will create conflict with each other. now they question is can i use the sidebar to link to different swf files but still make it look like it was just one big swf?
    thank you!

    Here is what you have to do
    Create a document named main.swf in that document put 4 buttons and instance (button1_btn, button2, button3_btn, button4_btn).
    Change the name to your slideshows to slide1.swf, slide2.swf, slide3.swf and slide4.swf.
    Now go to the actionScript panel of your main.swf and paste the following code:
    //load external content
    var loader = new Loader
    addChild(loader)
    loader.x=0;
    loader.y=0;
    button1_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, function(){
             loader.load(new URLRequest("slide1.swf"));
    button2_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, function(){
             loader.load(new URLRequest("slide2.swf"));
    button3_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, function(){
             loader.load(new URLRequest("slide3.swf"));
    button4_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, function(){
             loader.load(new URLRequest("slide4.swf"));
