Step-by-step pro audio guide?

So I'm an intermediate user about to dive into the Arch/Gentoo type world. Right now gentoostudio.org looks like the only high-performance musician 'distro' for me, but I'd much prefer the Arch system if possible. Is anyone aware of a tutorial more basic than the wiki's pro audio entry? It's also not self-contained.

Why would you prefer arch? What is it you are looking for? What is not self-contained about that wiki page? In what way could it be more basic?
I'm not being facetious, but these are questions we'd need answers to in order to provide any sort of help. We can't help you find what you want unless you can clarify what that is.
I will say though, that in general, if you are looking for "step-by-step" guides simpler than that wiki page, you would likely not end up being happy with archlinux. Arch is what you make of it, but you must make something of it, generally nothing comes preconfigured.

You can only update the iPad to iOS 5.1.1and you cannot go any higher. If you never updated that high, you can do so by using iTunes on your computer. You will have to connect the iPad to your computer with the cable and launch iTunes
You can read more here. Make sure that you read the section about using iTunes. The article starts off with using the Settings on the iPad for WiFi updates. That only works with the iPad 2 and higher that is already running iOS 5.

Hi,
Once gone thru all those documents u need to folloe these steps.
U need to configure the SLD and techinical system if it is properly conneted then your work is easy.
Then you have to go and crete the create the JCo Destination systems.
After you can urilize the created JCO in your application.
When you create the create the model you need to give the model names and Jco names and give the r/3 system details and get your function module from the R/3 side before need to make your fnmodule as Remote enabled and give the authrization roles.
Then you can get the Ur fn module into webdynpro.

Anyone know if such a thing as an 'Acrobat Pro applescripting guide' exists? I'm trying to select all the text in a PDF and save to a text file or select the text of a PDF document line by line i.e.
select first line of front document
or something like that but no luck??

You can just pass conversion option strings to the 'save as' command…

No Video when using the "Send To Soundtrack Pro Audio File" Command

Hello FCP Users,
After reading and rereading the FCP and STP manuals and scouring the boards; I still can not figure out how to view my video clip while I'm editing/sweetening audio in STP. I have even used the DVD tutorial in an attempt to figure it out (all works fine and good with the tutorial example), but I'm stuck here the real world.
I'm thinking their must be some preference setting somewhere in STP that I've missed. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Soundtrack Pro creates a new audio file project (with the file type .stap) for the clip. The clip can contain video and audio or contain only audio.
In the Final Cut Pro Timeline, Control-click the clip, then choose “Send To >
Soundtrack Pro Audio File Project” from the shortcut menu."

The audio consists of two separate audio tracks A1 is from a lav mic and A2 is from an on-camera mic.
It was captured DV.
If I rt click the video clip in the "video tl" the "Send To Soundtrack Pro Audio File" in the dialog box is grayed out/not available for selection, but the Send To Soundtrack Pro Multitrack Program is available to select.
If I choose to Send To Soundtrack Pro Multitrack Program I get the following an error message: Error sending selection to Soundtrack Pro.
I've tried de-selecting the "linked selection" in the tl and rt click the audio clip in the "audio tl" and that allows me to "Send To Soundtrack Pro Audio File" , but no video in the utility window of STP.

Cannot use the Send to Soundtrack Pro Audio File Command

I cannot use the Send to Soundtrack Pro Audio File Command, only the Multitrack and it's starting to really get on my nerves. It is unhiglighted. If I unlink the clip and select only half of the audio, the option re-appears. I have no idea what is wrong.

As an audio file, you can only send one clip at a time. This is a feature, not a bug. See the book for more information.

Apple Pro Audio Speakers on Intel iMac

Hello everyone!
My new Intel iMac just got opened and is sitting on the desk, but I ran into one issue: The Apple Pro Audio speakers that came with the iMac G4 can not be hooked up. Is there an adaptor I can get, or will I have to make due with the internal speakers for a little bit ? (which by the way, sound really good)

If you're taking speaker recommendations, I love my JBL Creature II speakers. They also come in aluminum, black, and red.
They look a little funky, which is cool, and they sound great!

Microphone Issue - Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro Audio C

Hey there, sorry to post but I've got a little issue which I'm sure is me being stupid but its racking my head so here it comes. I have recently started using talk programs such as vent, skype blah blah to speak to people back home and since moving abroad I have found that now I need the mic to contact these people (which it used to fine before I arri'ved on foreign soil). On clicking on volume control and advance or properties I have nothing in recording for mic and this is where im lost. If I enable the mic on any of the programs people are hearing whatever happens to be coming out of the computer speaks such as games or a movie etc. i've just tried a full removal and reinstallation of the sound drivers for the model in my comp (Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro Audio Card).
All my mates are saying surely you cant lose mic from the volume control but yet its gone and I have no idea how to reactivate it. People seemt o think the card is buggered but it seems fine with everything else I fire out.
Any help on how stupid I'm being would be great.

Rogue Amoeba's Airfoil should do just what you want. I use if for streaming things like Slacker and Pandora through my Airport Express. It's not free but it's well worth the price. You can try it out for a few minutes (then the sound degrades) to see if it works for you.

Unable to "Send to: Soundtrack Pro Audio File Project"

With a solo clip in its own sequence, I wanted to do some audio work in Soundtrack Pro. I control-clicked on the clip and selected "Send to." The option for Soundtrack Pro Audio File Project is grayed out, not allowing me to select it.
Any suggestions?

I figured out you can only do "one track" at a time and not multiple tracks. Once I Option clicked on the single track, it came back. Just FYI.

You CANNOT run ProTools with any other interfaces than the Digidesign and the M-Audio ProTools M-Powered interfaces...thats it...thats all...nothing more.....oh and some high end Apogee units with the ProTools HD system....so if your want to run ProTools and Logic, you need a Digi002, Mbox, or a M-Audio box....oh and currently there are no drivers for the Intel Macs for the M-Audio interfaces...

SUS no likey Mac Pro Audio Update?

Has anyone noticed that some of their Software Update Server installations are declining to show the recent (2/11) Mac Pro Audio Update? I have a few 10.5.8 servers that have downloaded it, as they have the workaround for adding 10.6 updates described in this forum, but a couple have not, and 3 different 10.6.2 servers have not. I see an error message on one 10.6.2 server as:
Cannot process catalog item for product 061-7871 due to missing/malformed data.
That particular "product" is indeed the Mac Pro Audio Update. Think Apple has an issue w/ their Software Update servers? Anyone else seeing this?

About to mark this as "answered" (sort of), as I believe this Mac Pro Audio Update is no longer necessary (or available) now that we have the 10.6.3 update. My hacked 10.5.8 SUS machines no longer show this update. However, ironically enough, the 10.6.3 SUS apparently doesn't even show the 10.6.3 updates, so I guess in a way, this is kinda still an issue...LOL. Anybody wanna confirm or deny that this issue is closed (sort of!)?
