First of all, what's your Oracle Version?
RMAN has changed a lot since if first appeared in Oracle 8.0. Now, if you don't have any knowledge at all of recovery manager you must first take a look at the recovery manager version corresponding to your particular oracle version so you get acquainted to the concepts.
If you see the error 'rman not found ...' then it means you don't even have set the environment variables for your session, which is part of the install process. The PATH environment variable must include the $ORACLE_HOME/bin where the rman along many other oracle binaries are located.
1. Check the environment variables.
2. Specify the Oracle version
3. You can use Enterprise Manager to easy your life, but the setup procedure is subject to the oracle version you are referring to.
4. Take a look at the backup/recovery manual to get acquainted with rman concepts.

  • Workaround for taking cs5 back to cs4

    hi,
I know after effects is not backwards compatible and never has been. Dont suppose anybody knows a way of getting round this?
I'm sure 64 bit after effects is a boon to many users but for me the problems have been endless.
Does anybody know a fix for taking your projects back to a 32 bit version of after effects?
    thanks
    s

There is no "fix", but you can copy&paste some data with both programs, possibly requiring to adjust the headers in a text editor/ Excel. See this old tip for some basics. There was also someone working on a bunch of import/export scripts to export to a custom text file and back, but I've lost track of how far that ever went. Mabe check AEnhancers.com...

  • Approximate time for Taking Oracle Backup

Can you guys tell me how can I guess
1.what time should be taken for a Oracle database's full export backup ?
2.what time for a full online Physical backup ?
3.what time for a full offline Physical backup ?
We can see the size of the associated datafiles of the database from dba_datafiles. We have only that clue and the database is residing on an AIX box.
Any good idea will be appretiated.
Also please give me the idea on which factors the time for backup depends. And how it can be done in good speed.

Might be that sac-Pune's timing information is wrong. But he could understand my question and tried to answer with a case study. Ok I really tried to get the answer from a person who has good hands on experience. And who has handled oracle backups on different hardwares and also different OS.
I know that the backup timing depends on the size . Suppose we take a case study
    Environment parameters:
    1. Database size: 100 gb
    2. Hardware/OS : IBM AIX
    3. Memory : 4 GB
    4. Number of CPU: 4
    5. Oracle version 9.2.0.7
1.what time should be taken for a Oracle database's full export backup ?
2.what time for a full online Physical backup ?
3.what time for a full offline Physical backup ?
Can any one give me the approximate timing for those ? 30mins plus minus will be accepted.
Can we deduce any formula on backup timing as 3 environment parameters are numeric.
Is there any proportionate relation in timing of Export backup and Online physical backup?
    or
Is there any proportionate relation in timing of Online physical backup and Offline physical backup?
    or
Is there any proportionate relation in timing of Old Online physical backup and RMAN method physical backup?
I know that oracle backup timing depends on many factors. But again it is a bookish answer. In my original post I wanted to know 'which factors'?
I also requested to give me some thumb rules how backup can be fast.
I recently joined a new organisation where the database size are huge. But I would have to create some emergency 'Change Requests' on Oracle backups. Discussing with Old DBAs and prior testing in test environments with same volume of data as in production is not possible at this point of time.

  • Reparation process for goods delivered back from customer for repair

    Dear friends,
I have to create an "easy" process with which we can create a sort of "return from customer". This process should enable us to create us a "customer stock". So value should not be on our plant but we need to show, that there is a material received back from the customer. We also need to be able to purchase materials and then put the cost on project or internal order. Depends on the reparation.
Unfortunately, I do not have so many MM process consulting experience and would need some support from your side.
Thank you very much for any help you can give me!
    Bjoern

    Hi,
You can follow the process, if suitable for customer repair process
    A. MM01 - Define your customer materials (both component and finished product, if same create only 1 material) as non valuated material, because these materials not effecting the your inventory.
    B. CS01 - Create BOM for finished product( If same maintain same material)
    C. VA01 - Create sales order for service charges with reference to your customer Purcahse Order.
    D.  MIGO - Receive the component(if same, receive same material) from your customer through 501 E (with out po sales order specific).
    E. CO01 - Create Production order with reference to sales order  manually.
    F. CO11N - Confirm the production order
    G. MIGO - Receive the finished product/same material after repaired against Order {MT 101}
    H. VL01N - Delivery to customer as in normal sales process.
    I. VF01 - Then create Billing to your customer.
Note: Extra material added during repaired process on material, can be tracked in other process or can be accounted separately.

  • Is there a good step-by-step proces for archiving photos to DVD or Blu-Ray?

    Hello
What's the step-by-step process for taking a project and backing it up to Blu-Ray? My library is pretty big, and I need to back it up.
I'd like to be able to have Aperture still show the thumbnails when I launch (and still be able to search with keywords and locations and such), but then prompt me to insert a disc when I want to reference the actual image.
Is this easy? What's the process?
    Thank you for your time,
    ------S

Does Aperture have any kind of renaming feature so that I can rename the originals before backing up? That might make searching easier.
    Yes.
You have a couple of options here (in place renaming and renaming at export) depending on what your needs are:
    Renaming in place:
    http://documentation.apple.com/en/aperture/usermanual/index.html#chapter=5%26sec tion=15%26tasks=true
    Renaming at export:
    http://documentation.apple.com/en/aperture/usermanual/index.html#chapter=20%26se ction=2%26tasks=true
Note - the renaming is in step #5.
Also, do you know anything about the metadata? If I back up the images, is the metadata included? That is to say, if I use an app like CDFinder (a disc cataloging and searching utility) to search for terms, will they show up? Or is the metadata only accessible from within Aperture?
Not sure regarding that app as I have never used it, but you really have two options:
1 - Export as JPEG, TIFF or PSD and opt to include all metadata (this obviously doesn't help with backing up Master RAW files).
2 - Export Master copies with ITPC metadata written into file (not sure what all would be included in your case, but you could easily test with an image).
    Good luck.

  • Invoce. N-step dynamic approval process

    Hello,
    I have a question.
According documentation we have BADI ONLY for SC workflow
    and PO workflow.(BBP_WFL_APPROV_BADI)
I need  N-step dynamic approval process  for Invoice.
The question is : do i need to develop my own workflow or is there other functionality or BADI which i can use for INVOICE?
    Thank you.

    Hi Hari,
The total value of the shopping cart changes because Manager 1 deletes an item from the shopping cart. So the new value of the shopping cart is 10.000,- euro. In this example all managers must approve up to and including the first one who has an limit higher than the shopping cart value.

  • Process for new hard drive

    Hi everyone,
I was hoping somebody could point me to some tutorials for upgrading the hard drive in my PowerBook G4 (1Ghz).
I own an external drive (usb only) that is the same size as the drive in my PB (80gb), this is what I'd use to back up my hard drive (I could borrow a larger drive from work if necessary).
What is the best process for backing up? Should I use Carbon Copy? I already have Retrospect Express.
How can I make sure that I won't need to reinstall all my 3rd party apps (ex; iLife, Photoshop)? Would all of this be ported over when I copy my old hard drive over to the new hard drive?
What is the best process for copying the backed up/copied hard drive to the new hard drive? Won't I need to reinstall Tiger first? Then run updates?
    Thanks for the help!

"What is the best process for backing up? Should I use Carbon Copy? I already have Retrospect Express."
I just replaced my drive, I used SuperDuper, it worked flawlessly, a major first for me since using OS X. I swear I'm not from that company, but it made a perfect bootable disk, important since I was swapping drives directly after copying data via USB to external enclosure. Had drive duplication problems prior, carbon copy was a no-go for me, to complicated, something not right w/ the updates, i forget what, it has been a while, just remember I was forced to reinstall apps.
Should have gotten a firewire enclosure, could have tested it first w/ target mode, oh well.

  • Process for customising BC site templates

    Hi,
I've been looking through BC Gurus which is great, although quite in depth, I should explain I am very new to BC and Web design in general. Whilst looking around the net it suggests it would be quicker to take a BC template and customise for my clients needs.
However, I can not find any decent tutorials for a sensible process for taking a template and customising. I suspect I should be looking to edit the main site CSS file and default template, but is that correct?
In a nutshell, I took the Halftone template, applied to my site, synced with Dreamweaver, now what! I can't even find how to change the logo
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Grant

Hi Grant, The forums are very active.
There are a number of us that are not fans of the - just edit templates to create clients sites so some of us wont comment on this. But in terms of what your asking is quite broad, its a lot to do with HTML and CSS and Javascript knowledge.. on top of that BC knowledge as well.
A logo change is going to the content holder or part of the template where the logo is and changing the image html. This is more standard html and css knowledge and people spend a long time learning this and a wealth of information. I do not use templates for example so I can only give a broad answer on how to edit html for example. If you need to learn html and css stuff there is a million and one things out there. In the guide section on these forums there are docs about things and also links to guide sites like BC Gurus to help learn BC and this stuff.
So it is quite hard to post a helpful response so I guess that is why you not got a reply.

  • GNU gcc and Oracle 10g/11g on Solaris x86-64- examples?

We are looking at developing an Oracle database app on the above platform. We have the Solaris Studio 12.2, but one of the programmers has a visual impairment which makes using the GUI difficult.
I "think" one might be able to use the GNU gcc series compilers ( which she is familiar with) to develop an app that runs on Solaris, and accesses the database on the same server using the Oracle libraries, but I am unclear on the details. Can someone point me in the right direction to get the information needed, or sample code for using the gcc compilers for database access????

I believe you can use gcc for developing Oracle database programs on Solaris. But the best place to ask about database development is in an Oracle database forum:
    http://forums.oracle.com/forums/main.jspa?categoryID=84
and look under the Database entry.

  • Going in for service, need step by step back up to CD instructions, please?

My imac is going in to repair the dreaded vertical lines problem this week. First I am to back up my files, just in case. I'm more or less computer challenged for something this complicated. I want to burn to blank CD's some of my important files. Apple guy at the store, said burn your 'home' folder. I have tried disc utility and got confused. Appeared to make my applications folder and home folder disappear! So, I dragged them back. Starting over, I think those instructions were for OS X 10.5 anyway. Now I'm nervous. Can someone give me step by step instructions for a OS X 10.4.11 please. My computer helper in the house is a PC guy. Thanks so much! ~N

You'll not be able to burn your entire Home folder to one CD. CDs only hold around 610 MBs per disc. That means you will need to span the backup over multiple discs. Disk Utility is not designed to do that. There aren't many backup utilities that can do that either. The likeliest candidate would be Roxio's Toast.
A much better solution is to get an external hard drive at least as large as your computer's hard drive, then clone your computer's drive to the external drive. And, you will now have the means of maintaining backups which is something you should always do.
When you get the external hard drive you must first prep it as follows:
    Extended Hard Drive Preparation
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (for Intel Macs) or APM (for PPC Macs) then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
To clone your drive do this:
Clone using Restore Option of Disk Utility
    1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
    2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
    3. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (journaled, if available) and click on the Erase button. This step can be skipped if the destination has already been freshly erased.
    4. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
    5. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
    6. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
    7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive.
Source means the internal startup drive.

    Did you remove Quicktime X?
On a normal install Quicktime 7 is installed in the Utilities folder and Quicktime Pro in the main Applications folder.
You will need to reinstall OS X to get Quicktime X back if you have deleted it.
I notice yor profile says 10.5.8. Quicktime X is only available on 10.6 and above.

yes, that app engine didnt inserted any rows. So now when i tried to drill down i found that there was no data in the "new demo" database on table UPG_DATACONV. That is the reason for all this.
When i applied required for upgrade patch in demo it said couple of patch already exists so those update i skipped. Now when i check upd877654 has a step which imports the data in this table. my change assistant told that the update is already available in my demo so i skipped. Now i am not sure what to do.
I tried reimporting the data and running the analyzer again. But worried that there can be any issues due to this.
