Step by step text box appeared on desk top

I have this box that appeared on my desktop - it is a rectangular shape but with rounded corners. It is a black screen with with text and a white frame. It types out exactly what I am doing on my computer - for example just them it typed out "computer" after having finished typing out the word. If I click on a desk top folder it reads "Finder Desktop and gives the name of the folder" - it's really annoying and I cannot figure out how to get rid of it. Please help! Thank you!

In the preOpen event of the second dropdown list you put something like (in formCalc):

I just thought that the example you pointed the OP to, is far more complex than what I understood he needs. The OP was talking about using a button, which I thought was a very basic and simple case. Your example is much more complicated. If memory serves, the radio group item, at the time (prior to 3.1 fieldset) behaved differently, so you needed to create a new value retrieving function, and then was the need to preserve the items show/hide status upon reloading the page. In short, I thought maybe I didn’t see the complexity in the OP post, but it seems that his requirement was indeed a simple one.

Acrobat Forms - Make fillable text box appear after box checked or drop down menu item selected

I have been asked to build an approvals form for my workplace however the approval processes vary considerably depending on the subject. I have been asked to create a list of topics in the form of check boxes or a drop down menu which will then populate a list of text boxes with differing approval authorities and corresponding spaces for signatures. i.e. if 'Topic 1' is selected a list of names and signature spaces will appear, however if 'Topic 2' is selected a different list of names and signature spaces will appear instead.
In order to achieve this I think I only need to find out how to link check boxes or drop down menu items to the appearance of different text boxes.
I should also add that I am a beginner with this stuff.

In some cases, Firefox's downloads folder may be set to your desktop. You can change the downloads folder here:
(If you have the orange Firefox button, tap the Alt key to display the classic menu bar)
Tools > Options > General
If the file wasn't downloaded using Firefox, have you tried dragging it to the Recycle bin? Does Windows refuse to delete it?

Text boxes appear too long

That is usually caused by a problem with the font that is to big or otherwise corrupted.

I'm using Firefox w/ Yahoo Mail on a Mac. When I try to copy/paste text in the body of the emai, it thinks I'm inserting a picture & all kinds of little text boxes appear. What can I do to get rid of all the little text boxes?

This always happens when I try to copy/paste text into the body of my yahoo email. It only started happening when i switched to a mac.

Why am i getting a white box appearing at the top of my page, and the seeing firefox freeze?

Just installed Firefox to Mac OSX 10.7.5. FF opens ok, but within seconds, a small white box drops down from the top of the window, the "File/Edit/View/History etc" from the top of my screen disappears leaving only "FireFox" and my Apple logo in the top left corner, and FF remains frozen. I can quit it and restart, but it just keeps happening. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, and it keeps happening. Any ideas?

CD or DVD Disc does not appear on desk top ...

When I insert a blank CD it comes up on the desktop. When I
insert any CD or DVD that contains data the CD or DVD does not
come up on the desktop. I have looked at "troubleshooting a cd-rom " from Apple. I've tried a number different brands of CDs and DVDs so it isn't the disc. I've been told that I need to clean the lens on my CD player and have bought a CD cleaner made by Memorex however I can't use it because it doesn't come up
on my desktop because it isn't blank....a conundrum. Anyone out there

OK WHERE IS APPLE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM? I have started idvd, control-option-p-r and still nothing. It can't be my drive because it will play data, and blank dvd's. It is the software updates I have 10.4.5 with a g5 sony super drive but I do not play movies often so I do not know which upgrade it is. Does apple look at these posts? You know there are hundreds of cases out there by the number of posts here and other threads in tiger. search "My DVD disc doesn't appear on my desktop " and see all of the threads. I bought my 5th mac because of ease of use but why there isn't a patch for this is pxxxing me off

Help! External LaCie hard drive 1.6TB suddenly won't appear on desk top.

From the beginning: I was in the process of backing up onto my LaCie external disk using the FireWire 800 cable. (The model is a LaCie 1.6 Tera-byte, forgot the brand name of this model, but it can connect via FireWire 800 or 400. I'm using the FireWire 800 cable on my PowerBook 15 inch G4, 1.5 GHz). While it was backing up, I connected a Flash card reader via a USB port. After I disconnected the Flash card properly by "ejecting" it, a few seconds later or maybe it was 30 seconds later (not sure), the uploading to the LaCie disk stopped. I could still access it via the desktop, but the folders showed nothing inside them, just blank. Then everything slowed down, followed by the "spinning beach ball" of dread. I restarted everything, but the LaCie icon did not show up on the desktop afterwards.
Using the Apple System Profiler, the LaCie disk appears there, but when I click "Verify Disk" it says "Invalid node structure" and "Volume LaCie disk needs to be repaird." When I click "Repair Disk" it says "Invalid node structure" and "Volume check failed," and after that "1 HFS Volume checked - 1 volume could not be repaired because of an error."
I tried FileSalvage software, and I let it run for about 20 minutes and it scanned up to 24 GB and seems to have the ability to recover files, though it does not recover the file names, it seems, and the process is extremely slow for over 600 GBs to recover. I am wondering if there is something to reset or redo, so I can access over 2 full months of work, which I will immediately backup on DVD disks. Thanks for any help!

That may not be so good because it suggests the power is getting to it and it is something else more critical to the functioning of the drive that is wrong. If it is the enclosure you could try moving it out of the enclosure into a different one, or into the computer.
I just used Disk Warrior to rebuild the directory- no luck.
Ah, so did Diskwarrior see the drive? I didn't think you could see the drive in Disk Utility.
I also replaced the firewire Cable- no luck.
Good try but the flashing blue light suggested something else to me.
I'm now doing to bring it to a local Computer Store to try to retrieve the information.
Try using an application such as [Data Rescue II|http://www.prosofteng.com/products/data_rescue.php] or [FileSalvage|http://subrosasoft.com/OSXSoftware/index.php?mainpage=product_info&productsid=1]. Both have free trial versions that let you see if the software will help before you decide to buy. You will also need a second hard drive equal to or larger in size than your first drive.
I wrote to Lacie- but they are so slow in responding- it will be days.

I'm new to Mac and I copied a newspaper article out, for my genealogy, and didn't want to paste it to Word because it saves it as a pdf., I want to save it as a jpg. for my family tree. Where or how can I paste the article and then save it to my desktop?

Ok, I found Preview. It doesn't say "new" just open then that takes me to a screen with files on my desktop.
Is there a clipboard somewhere that I can paste on to? I don't see one in preview. New from clipboard is light so I can't click on it. help........

In Snow Leopard Pages'09 files suddenly do not appear on desk top.What to do?

When I open a template in My Templates (Pages'09) and want to save it to the desktop, all of a sudden that doesn't work anymore. The file can be found with Spotlight but I can't have it on the desktop.
Does anyone have an idea?

Sounds to me like you have a corrupt plist file.
First thing I would try would be to simply relaunch your Finder and see if that sorts your problem.
>ForceQuit>Finder>Relaunch
If not navagate to com.apple.desktop.plist and delete.
Finder>GO>(option Key)Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
or in Finder shortcut ( ⇧⌘G) copy and paste:
~/Library/Preferences/
delete the com.apple.desktop.plist
Relaunch your Finder again.
The deleted plist will rebuild itself to default setting after Finder relaunch
Report back on your sucess or failure.

How can i type text in one text box and have the same text appear in a second text box? (on the same page)

I'm trying to make a simple CD label template and would like the text typed into the title text field on the cover to also appear in the title box on the back cover when typed just the once.
Is there any way to accomplish this?

Hi Chuck,
Not possible with a Text box, but can be done with a table.
Type the text in cell A1 (top left). When you exit the cell, the text will appear in C1 (top right).
Table can have fewer cells; cell borders may be set to 'none' to make them invisible; font and size may be different is each cell (as shown).
The formula in C1 is pretty simple: =A1
So it's possible, but on the whole, I agree with Peter—Copy/Paste is just as efficient, Drag and Drop onto (styled) placeholder text works quite nicely.

Text in text boxes getting cutoff after publish

We have an e-learning project with a large number of
application simulations that were built using Captivate 2.0 (build
1177). The published swf files from captivate are loaded via XML
into a flash shell we've built that serves up additional asset
types (text, graphics, video) along with the captivate movies to
make up a module. The captivate movies are the only asset being
served up when used (i.e. they are not sharing the screen with
other graphics or text).
The problem we are having, is that once a captivate movie is
published, and played via the module shell, some (not all) text
boxes are displayed with the text being cut off on the left. The
left margin settings appear to be ignored, and the text is cut off
by a couple pixels. This appears to be totally random. In the
almost 200 captivate movies we've created, we start out by
recording the application function we are training on, and then
update the captivate with refined text (using HaloYellow text
boxes), and import audio from a narrator.
When the final captivate is published, we can preview using
the _skin.swf and html file, and we cannot replicate the text box
issue, however once we play the swf through our course shell, we
can see the problem text boxes.
One way we have been able to fix this, is to go to the
problem text box in Captivate, select it, cut it out (ctrl-x) and
then paste it back in. Then we check out the newly published
version (in the course shell) and the text box appears as it
should. The problem is, there may now be other text boxes
displaying the problem text being cut off.
In my research on this issue, I did learn about setting text
margins in the .FCM files, but I am finding this is something that
must be planned for before creating the captivate, as it is not
something I can change and then hope to take effect when the movie
is next published.
If this link works, it should launch a web page with an
example of one of these problem text boxes..

Hi Sean
In addition to what jbradley88 offered, there is one other
factor that could be at play here.
Do the captions look okay on some PCs and not on others? If
so, it could point to an issue with the DPI settings for the PC. If
this is the case, you will want to perform the following steps on
the PCs where this is an issue.
* Display the Windows Desktop (Easily done by pressing the
Windows key and the D key together)
* Right-click the Windows Desktop and choose Properties from
the context menu
* Click the Settings tab
* Click the Advanced button
* Click the General tab
See the drop-down labeled DPI setting? If that is set to 120,
try setting to 96 and see if things improve.
This may not be what is at play, but I've seen it have an
impact on other display issues.

How do I fill and show/hide a series of text boxes based on checkboxes?

I have a series of checkboxes on a form (each of which requires some additional information to be entered) and a series of text boxes further down the page to house any necessary detailed information.
I have hidden the detail fields and coded the form so that for each of these checkboxes that is checked a row of detail text boxes appears with the checkbox title in the activiy type field, and if a checkbox is subsequently un-checked the last row of detail text boxes is hidden.
The problem with this is that if the user unchecks any box other than the most recently checked one the data for the option they just unchecked still shows, but the data for the last option they selected does not.
Does anyone have a solution that would make sure the detail fields for the boxes that are checked is displayed in the detail text boxes that are showing when a checkbox is unchecked, regardless of the order in which the boxes are checked/unchecked?
This is what my form looks like, with the example where Cash Withdrawals is unchecked but appears in the detail and Remote Deposit Capture is checked but was hidden with the last line:
The detail groups are named Act1.child, Act2.child, etc. where the description field (filled in the example above) is Act1.type, Act2.type, etc.
Here is the script I'm using on the checkboxes to achieve what I'm getting now:

Preliminaries
An indicator can be considered a variable in JavaScript.
If P is an indicator, m(P) refers to the value of the indicator.
Data for Control
There are four checkboxes: C0, C1, C2 and C3.
There is an indicator for each checkbox: CP0, CP1, CP2 and CP3.
If checkbox Ci is checked then checkbox indicator CPi has the value i+1; in other words, m(CPn) = i+1. If checkbox Ci is not checked then checkbox indicator CPi has the value 0; in other words, m(CPn) = 0.
There are four sets of detail fields: A0, A1, A2 and A3.
There is a detail fields indicator for each detail fields: AP0, AP1, AP2 and AP3. If detail fields Ak have the details for the checked checkbox Ci then APk has the value i+1; in other words, m(APk) = i+1. If detail fields Ak do not have any details for any of the checked or unchecked checkbox then APk has the value 0; in other words, m(APk) = 0.
The sets of detail fields are organized in sequence. The “top” or “first” set is AP0. It is followed by AP1. Then followed by AP2. The “bottom” or “last” set is AP3.
