Step-by-step trial version installation

Hi experts,
I am trying to install the abap nw trial version to get more knowledge on the transaction RSA1. The installation itself was succesful ( I guess..) but cant access the RSA1 , using DDIC or BCUSER.
I believe that I have to use BCUSER to run rsa1 and I would like to get help from you about how to configure:
1 - first, i logged on using client 000 and tried rsa1 but the system returned "You can only work in client 001". Vould anyone explain what or where can I get information about what each client can do or more basically, what are clients?
2 - then I opened second session and changed client to 001 and logged with user bcuser. Tried again rsa1 but the system now returned "You are not authorized to use transaction rsa1".
I think probably I need to assign roles and profiles to bcuser for rsa1 on the client 001.
Can anyone help me?

Hi Aleks,
before starting the RSA1 Transaction you have to do 3 step's. (All in Client 000)
1) Change the Value of Field BWMANDT in the Table RSADMINA from '001' to '000'.
2) Add a Logical System // SPRO->SAP Customizing Implementation Guide->SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence->Links to Other Source Systems->General Connection Settings->Define Logical System
3) Enter the Logical System in the Client Maintenance (Transaction SCC4) in the CLIENT 000 Entrie.
During the first call of the RSA1 the System ask for activate the technical content. Choose "activate". During the second call of RSA1 the System send a message about a aborted Job - the reason are a Error during the activating of InfoObjects. Ignore the message.

I have checked regedt32 and found the entry 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BlackICE' which is having detail (Default) REG_SZ (Value not set). When I double click on (Default) it says "Can not edit: Error reading the value's content"

In Services, "BlackICE" service is "Started" and Statup Type is "Automatic" and Logon As "Local System".
I have Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 2 and 3 GB RAM. I am using user which is part of "Administrator" group.
Can someone help what could be the issue and how I can resolve it so that can complete the Installation.

You must extract the first archive (only the first archive)
After that you'll see that you have in the directory start.htm
Double clicking 'start.htm' will take you to a web page where you find all the steps for installation.

NW CE71 Trial Version Installation Error @ step createAccounts

Hi,
I am trying to install the NW CE 7.1 trial version but setup stops with an error very early. Here's the log info:

I have Windows XP SP2, and try installing CE with a domain user having administrator's rights on the local machine and I am logged on to the domain. I suppose the installer tries to create a domain user which I am not allowed to but IMHO a domain user wouldn't be necessary.

Is your Windows in English ?
Your Windows XP should be in English ou English with MUI (Multilingual User Interface Technology) cause the installer expects groups like (everyone,guest, power users) in english. Check SAP Note 362379.

Hi,
I changed the system name but still I am getting the same error. Previously there was an SAP system was installed in my pc later I uninstalled that, but still there are two SAPsid_00 and SAPsid_01 (where in sid is MS) is running. I think this is the problem. I disabled the services as well but still I am getting the same error during the installation. How to delete the windows services ? and how to do a clean up for registry ?. I feel if I do theses two then I can install.

NW04s installation errors
I have jdk 1.6 installed on my machine but there are no environment variables for java executables.
Is my problem caused but the java previously installed on the machine? If so, I can remove the jdk and retry installation
In this case it could be useful in my opinion to include this issue in the FAQ, it can be helpful for other users too.

Issue with CE 7.2 Trial version Installation

I was installing the trial version of CE 7.2 where the installation went smoothly until it reached the step "Install Java engine".
I am running the installation using a desktop user with admin rights.

I did a few things that solved my problem. However there could be a bunch of reason for you to get this error
For ex, Operating System Collector error or problem with the paging etc.
Can you elaborate your problem with the following details:
1. Your observations of the errors through the SAP Management Console
2. Your machine OS and RAM details.
3. Are you going in for a fresh installations? or did you uninstall CE before?
May be I can help if you are facing the same issues, I did.

Problem in ABAP trial version installation

Hi All,
I installed ABAP Trial Version, which was not properly installed, so I uninstalled SAP Application server form my desktop.
When i try to it install again, it pop me up a message displaying "an instance of NSP database is already exist, remove all instance of MAXDB database"
When I try to remove MAxDB NSP database , ask for database administrator username and password, even after entering the username and password, it do not remove the contents, gives me pop up Error displaying "Communication Error: can not start communication server"
this is what happening with me.
My querries:
what is the Username and password for Database System Administrator Login, so that i can drop existing database?
Why this error Communication Error: can not start communication server" ?
any help will be appreciated...

I think it is enough to delete everything.
I had this several times trying to get my AbapTrial version to work but then everything was successful as below:
i. windows command regedit ->software and delete the whole SAP folder
ii. at least disable the services (I had old SAP.. entries) (you did windows command sc delete)
iii. I had an NSP version and so deleted the whole of C:SAP folder and c:sapdb folder
iv. I went to windows software management and removed the trial version or went to Start->Programs and deleted the Trial version there.
v. In Start->Programs->MaxDB (or, once, in software management) I deleted all MaxDB entries.
As far as I remember everything was then removed.
The successful installation then was as follows:
I successfully downloaded from http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/nw-downloads and successfully ran the installation:
1) the download wasnt possible the first few times I tried - the download popup did not appear and I received a message with the word "scnsorry" instead. I just had to keep trying.
2) I downloaded the entry
"SAP NetWeaver 7.01 SR1 SP3 ABAP Developer Edition ".
Another entry, also offered for download, "SAP NetWeaver 7.01 - ABAP Trial Version " did not install and seemed to be in error. (Installed "successfully" in just 4 minutes and showed no MaxDB files in the unzipped folder).
3) I followed the instructions and the installation (some 27 steps) ran for 7 hours.
4) I am on a laptop with Windows Vista 6.0 Build 6002 SP2. (It is in German, not English, but this was not a problem, although it is sometimes mentioned that one should use an english-language OS).
5) After installation I could log on at once.
I recommend this way because it saves so much time.
What put me on the right path was a comment by Markus Doehr on In AbapTrial7.01 NSP the Dispatcher stops after 1:15 minutes.

I wanted to install "SAP NetWeaver 7.0 ABAP Trial Version". I downloaded the 2 .tgz files from https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/downloads
I tried uncompressing the files with winzip and gunzip but didnt work. Is there a step by step installation proceedure for "SAP NetWeaver 7.0 ABAP Trial Version"

I want to install the NetWeaver 7.0 ABAP Trial Version on System Windows Home Prof. 64 bit.
But i can´t install it without Windows Home Prof. 32 bit-System. Want can i do ?

Hi Matthias,
You can download Windows Virtual PC from the Microsoft Website (just indicate that you own Windows 7 Professional or better, so you'll be able to download it. You can install it on Win 7 Home editions as well. This is not officially supported, but it works fine.)
Then you can create a virtual machine with Windows XP or Server 2003, on which you can install the Trial version.

Netweaver 7.0 ABAP trial version installation failure

Hi,
Iam trying to install SAP NetWeaver 7.0 ABAP Trial Version in my system. I have started the installation process by executing "SapGuiSetup.exe" which installed SAPGUI on my system. Then, when i executed "maxdbtools/DBM76.exe", the following popup happened which says "-4 database instance not found" and iam unable to continue the installation process.
Any information about this will be helpful.

as far as I know DBM76.exe is not supposed to install the complete SAP System, not even the database software - it's only the exe to install the DBMGUI for SAPDB.
I'd recommend that you lookup the installation guide for SAP Netweaver 7.0 under:
[service.sap.com/instguides] --> SAP NetWeaver -> SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s) --> Installation -> Master Guide
I know this is a quite long document but if you want to install SAP you need to read this to know about all the requirements and steps that need to be taken,

SAP NW BPM Trial Version Installation Guidance

Hi All,
I am new to SAP NW BPM. I downloaded the trial version software for CE and NWDS.
Steps followed for installation of CE:
1. I installed CE by running "sapinst.exe" under SDNCEBPM7110PREVIEW\CompEnv\IM. I chose MaxDB as database.
2. For additional components the guide says,run the same "sapinst.exe" and use "Continue Old Installation" option.
I did the same thing, but after few steps, it asked me to either recreate the database schema or rename. Is this normal? Or I missed something?
I selected "recreate" option and after it prompted for Administrator password, I gave the password. But, it is giving error as
"Usage: TestAdminPassword <adminuser> <password> <hostname> <p4 port>"
Now, I hit a dead end. Please help me out as how to go ahead with the installation.

Do not continue old isntall, start a new one, and use a different name for DB for example CE2...
And if you want you can delete old db instance using dbmcli.
