Step to build an Planning application using EPMA

I have completed a sandbox of Dot3
where can I get the detail process to build a EPMA Planning application or do I just build a class application and then convert

Failed to migrate EPMA planning application using LCM

Hi all,
I'm working on exalytics migration for planning application(Windows->Linux,EPM 11.1.2.2).
I have successfully completed classic application migration. But for the EPMA planning application, when importing metadata,it failed with the following message:
Error in migrating artifact, "/Application Metadata/Planning Applications/pln1/Local Dimensions/Account".
Couldn't determine the column delimiter for the ads file being imported. When import EPMA planning application using LCM, it failed with: Couldn't determine the column delimiter for the ads file being imported

Reproduced Step:
@ From the source environment, creat EPMA planning application ,and login to
Shared Services console
1- Export the Application Metadata to the file system - AppMetadata (EPM
Architect -> Application Metadata -> Planning Applications)
2- Shared Services -> Native Directory -> Assigned roles -> Application
3- Application Groups -> Application Name
From the Destination Environment
4- Setup a datasource ready for the new application.
5- Copy the filesystem file to the following folder in destination
environment Hyperion\Common\import_export
@ 6- Login to Hyperion Shared Services and import the filesystem AppMetadata
created earlier, it failed with error:
Error in migrating artifact, "/Application Metadata/Planning
Applications/pln1/Local Dimensions/Account".
Couldn't determine the column delimiter for the ads file being imported
Could you please help to take a look, and tell me if I missed any step or there is any known issue for this kind of migration?

About the ads file, from log, it should be under /home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/epmsystem1/tmp/xxx/completexx.ads, but seems it was deleted, I can't find it.
I checked file "/home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/epmsystem1/import_export/admin0/EPMA-EPM Architect/resource/Application Metadata/Planning Applications/pln1/Local Dimensions/Account", delimiter is "|".

How to redeploy planning application using EPM System Configurator

Hello All
Can you please let me know how to redeploy planning application using EPM system Configurator.
I am applying a patch to ver 11.1.2.0 and i need to redeploy the planning app as one of the steps.

Run the EPM configurator, expand planning and select "Deploy to Application Server", if it is a distributed environment and planning is not on the same server as the WebLogic admin server you will need to start the Admin Server

Refresh Planning application using batch client

Hi All,
I'm trying to refresh the planning application using batch client and I'm not winning so far.
This is what I have in my script.
Execute Deploy
Parameters(ApplicationName, InstanceName, Refresh Outline)
Values('MyAppName', 'MyInstanceName', 'True');
Error: [Line 8] The application name MyAppName is invalid for instance with name MyInstanceName.
This is what I had earlier:
Execute Deploy
Parameters(ApplicationName, InstanceName, ApplicationServer, HubProject, Refresh Outline, ClearAll, CheckIntegrity, waitforcompletion, purgeTransactions, escapeValidateRules, deployOption)

Error: 2010-09-01 14:17:29,406 ERROR Unable to delete application MyAppName due to following reason: Cannot Deploy the Application, It is already deployed.

Want to use the Member in different Application using EPMA in Planning

Hi,
We are using EPM Version 11.1.2.1 and i have created an Accounts Dimension and also members below it using EPMA and now i want to use some of the members which i have created in EPMA under accounts dimenion in one application and other members in second application? How can i achieve this?
Ex: Accounts
A1
A2
A3
A4
I want to use A1 and A2 in one Planning Application and A3 an A4 in Second Planning Application.

You should create the Accounts Dimension in the Shared Library of EPMA. Then add that dimension to your applications and in the application dimensions pane in the middle, right click on the member or hierarchies you wish to exclude, and choose Exclude Member. Keep in mind that if you do this at the parent level, its descendants will also be excluded. To see the members that are excluded, simply right click on the dimension itself and choose Show Excluded Members.

Extracting Dimension from Planning Application through EPMA File Generator

Hi,
I have a EPMA planning application (in version 11.1.1.2) and I want to extract its dimensions in to a ads file. I am using EPMA File Generator 9.3.1 for the purpose.
I am selecting the "From Planning Application" tab and entering all the required details, but when I execute... I get error "Unable to get metadata. Please check the web URL, application name, and application server."
I checked the web URL which is:
http://<server name>:8300/HyperionPlanning
and my application name & server are also correct...
Please help me to find out what exactly is going wrong here...

Why are you using 9.3.1 version, is there not a newer version in \Hyperion\products\Foundation\BPMA\EPMAFileGenerator\
Also if it an EPMA application you can use the EPMA tab to generate the ADS.

Steps to migrate Hyperion Planning application from 9.2.0 to new 9.3.1 env

We currently have 9.2.0 Hyperion planning installed in a windows env. We are planning to setup a new Hyperion planning env on a totally new hardware upgraded env. Would be appreciate if some can outline steps invloved to migrate Hyperion Planning apps, forms, BR ect from 9.2.0 to the newly setip 9.3.1 env. Is there any documentation, URL's to do the above. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Any issue to look out for, setbacks details would be helpful.

Hi,
One way of doing it would be :-
Create a new database for your planning application 9.3.1
Create a datasource to the database
Create a fresh planning application on version 9.3.1 make sure the admin is the same name as your old 9.2 planning app
Go into the database tables for the planning app and look at table HSP_USERS, store the SID value against user 50001
Go into the database planning system tables and HSPSYS_APPLICATION, clear out the version field for the application you have created
Stop Planning
Restore the 9.2 planning application database over the one created in the first step
Go into the HSP_USERS table and update the SID for user id 50001
Start planning
Go to planning web and you should see your application when you try and log in it should take you to a migrate screen.
If you are requiring to migrate users as well, you will have to make sure you create them in Shared Services and then use the updateusers utility in the planning bin directory.
Or you could try using the copy app utility though I don't believe it is the best utility about and not sure how it handles between different versions(http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10530_01/doc/epm.931/html_hp_admin/ch09s01.html)

Unable to load data to Hyperion planning application using odi

When I try to load data into planning using odi, the odi process completes successfully with the following status in the operator ReportStatistics as shown below but the data doesn't seem to appear in the planning data form or essbase

Do any members exist in the account dimension before the load? if not can you try adding one member manually then trying the load again.

We have successfully migrated our v4.02 planning application over to v11.1.1.1 and upgraded it successfully. However, we I attempt to to deploy the application witin EPMA the following errors are received:

Hi,
To associate an attribute dimension with a dimension you will need to do this in EPMA.
Go to the application in EPMA and to the dimension library (you can right click the application > edit)
Right click the dimension you want to an attribute associated with > "Create Association" > Select Attribute from the property dropdown.
Select the attribute dimension from the dimension dropdown.
To associate an attribute member, click on a dimension member and in the property section you can click Attribute and select the member.

a). Ensure you're using the correct version of WLS (it appears to me you're using a standalone WLS)? - correct version is 10.3.3
b). Install the application development runtime 11.1.1.3?
c). Extend the domain with the JRF?

Unable to log on Planning application using Spreadsheet Add-In

Hi.
We are experiencing some problem with Spreadsheet Add-In and Planning application.
We provisioned Planning users and created regularly security filters in Essbase: in fact, we are able to see users in Administration Console with Planning as Application Access Type.
However, users are able to connect to Essbase server using Spreadsheet Add-In but they cannot connect to any application: I mean that they do not see the Planning application and its related databases by Spreadsheet Add-In.
Any idea?

Just one more issue.
I tried to create a filter in Essbase, naming it as filter 1. Actually, the filter work correctly, even if the its name has a blank space.
However, if I verify the filter in Administration console, it returns an error ( Invalid object name specified. filter 1 ): I think that it is a bug on 9.3.0.1.
With regards to Planning, I noticed that users are not assigned to their filter in Essbase. In fact, as I take a look under Security node in Administration Console, no user has Access Database set to Filter, even if I would expect for it. Am I wrong?
Anyway, that it is why users ticked to Analytic Services and Planning in Shared Services are able to use Spreadsheet Add-In... Unfortunately, they are able to retrieve all data... :_|

I am trying to create a simple planning application. I need to show the actuals by hierarchies on characteristics and allow the users to plan on various levels of the hierarchy. Then, I have to generate a report comparing the previous year actuals and present plans. Please let me know the simple steps to achieve this.

Planning Application using Oracle EPM 11.1.1.1.0

I have just installed Oracle EPM 11.1.1.0 and I want to create a planning application. Do I still need to have all the EPM services running? For some reason these services are not starting and I am just wondering if I can still go ahead and create a planning application.

If you are going to create a planning application directly through planning and not the workspace then the minimum services you need started will be.
OpenLdap
Shared Services
Essbase
Planning
RMI Registry & EAS (Though strictly you might not actually need them running just to create an application but it is good practice to have them running)
Then you can go directly to set up an application through http://<planning machine>:8300/HyperionPlanning/AppWizard.jsp
