Steps & Activities of EP Consultant in SAP EhP5 Upgrade

Hi Experts
My client is upgrading to Ehp5, he also has Nwdi.
I am starter to Portal, can anyone give me detail steps of activities of EP Consultant in up gradation to Ehp5. and what issues I should take care of. Thanks inadvance

Hi,
In an upgrade project, all functional people you need to check/test all possible scenarios that you are currently using or you can say you need to perform integration/unit testing. Also, you can check what new functionality's are available in new release and you can plan accordingly to roll-out those new functionality.

Yes, the installation options in the SAPInst screen depend on the Operating system being used. Win XP is not supported for central system installation and hence you do not see those options. Run the same SAPInst in Windows 2008(R2) you will get the installation options.

SAP EHP5 MSCS installation with IBM DB2 9.7 on windows 2008 R2

i am installing SAP EHP5 high availability with IBM DB2 9.7 on windows 2008 R2
first cluster node installation is completed,
now i am going to install database instance, before that i am configuring the database for MSCS as per installation guide,
but the database group is note creating in Failover cluster manager.

Thats a printing mistake in installation guide..
copy db2mscs.ese file to db2mscs.cfg ...
Remove all the unwanted stuff like explination of parameter paragraphs
Confgure required parameters like below and make sure there are no unwanted spaces in the txt file.
#Global section
DB2_INSTANCE = DB2SID
DB2_LOGON_USERNAME = XXXXXX\db2sid
DB2_LOGON_PASSWORD = password
CLUSTER_NAME = GXXXXX
MSCS Group for Node 0
GROUP_NAME = DB2 SID Group
DB2_NODE = 0
#IP_NAME = DB2 IP SID
#IP_ADDRESS=192.168.0.xx
#IP_SUBNET=255.255.255.0
#IP_NETWORK=Ethernet(3)
NETNAME_NAME = DB2 NetName SID
NETNAME_VALUE = DB2SID
#NETNAME_DEPENDENCY = DB2 IP SID
Open you cluster console and select NODE A there you should be able to identify the disks for DB clustering,
Copy that name and paste it here for DISK_NAME
DISK_NAME = DATABASE_CD2
DISK_NAME = DBLOGS_CD4
#INSTPROF_DISK = Disk M:
#TARGET_DRVMAP_DISK = Disk M:
With the above process you should be able to cluster your DB.
2) Please provide all the steps that you were identified to install , that would give more clarity to reply back where ever required.

Hi,
The steps of database copy are as below.
1. To make Database copy between two systems, you have to check file size on
Target System.
Use commands:
df -k
bdf (HP-UX)
2. On the Source System, check the files which are going to move.
Use commands:
su ora
svrmgrl
connect internal;
select name from v$controlfile;
select name from v$datafile;
select name from v$logfile;
3. Release all change requests on source system.
4. Shutdown database (Source system)
Use commands:
su - adm
stopsap
5. Copy the controlfiles, datafiles, logfiles from source system to target
system.
Backup via tar
ftp or rcp
For example: You can write a simple script.
rcp r src_server:/oracle/SRC/sapdata1 /oracle/TRG
rcp r src_server:/oracle/SRC/sapdata2 /oracle/TRG
rcp r src_server:/oracle/SRC/sapdata3 /oracle/TRG
or for backup
tar cvf /dev/ sapdata* dbs origlog* mirrlog*
6. Copy $Oracle_Home/dbs/init.ora parameter file from source system to
target system. Change all old SIDs to new SIDs except db_name parameter.
Save it with old SID name.
7. On the target system, change parameter /dbname= on
parameter file /usr/sap/trans/bin/TPPARAM
8. Change all owners and groups.
Use commands:
With root user.
cd /oracle/
chown R ora:dba sapdata*
chown R ora:dba origlog*
chown R ora:dba mirrlog*
9. Change the name of control files (cntrl.dbf) with new SID
10. Startup mount must work successfully.
Use command:
su ora
svrmgrl
connect internal;
startup mount;
11. Define new locations to database for data files and log files.
Use command:
su ora
svrmgrl
connect internal;
alter database rename file /old/file/name to /new/file/name;
12. Startup R/3 with startsap.
Use commands:
su - adm
startsap
13. If not start; see OSS note--> 8179 (grant connect to sapr3 identified by SAP)
14. Log on to SAP via SAP* user.
15. Run ST06 and set workbench organizer.
16. Install new license.
17. Change the spool server names on SAP system. (SPAD)

If the project is of technical up gradation then with no functionality changed, Then the job of abap consultant is critical, right from creating spdd and spau, interfaces, debug the new programs and fix the bugs if exists in the new programs. The functional consultant has to test the new system from functions point of view; functional consultant is responsible for taking user acceptance test before going on live to the new system.

There aren't any major changes to PTM functionalities from 4.7 to 6.0. I hope your system is already using IT 2006 instead of IT 0005. Under functional role, you are required to configure/test any functional upgrade and manage data.

During EHP5 Upgrade some screens for infotypes are deleted

Hi,
During the EHP5 Upgrade, we found some of the screens of infotypes got deleted. Those screen numbers are <9000. Any guessess on why these screens deleted? Is it becoz of SAP reserved namespace or any other reason? What should be best solution to make sure that these screens are not deleted while upgrade?

Yes, it's possible to arrange for a review by SAP Consulting. You should contact your local SAP office, either through your existing contacts, or speak to the Consulting Services organization. They can direct you to the BPC experts in your region of the world.
If the partner doesn't have prior experience with BPC upgrades (and Outlooksoft 4.2 in general), I'd recommend that you involve SAP as early as possible, before starting the upgrade if possible.

(within the Downtime phase) during the SAP EHP4 upgrade with Enhancement
Package Installer.

Most XPRA reportshave a report documentation that explains what the report does and how

I tried to follow the instructions in note 1269960, but the enhancement spot
CLASSIFICATION_TOOL was already active. I activated it again and reran the phase
but got the same error. Also, I couldn't implement the note using SNOTE because it is
the middle of the upgrade process.
I also found the following long text in ST22
"Internal error during syntax check: ("//bas/710_REL/src/krn/gen/scsymb.c#11"
Processing had to be terminated because an internal error
occurred when generating the ABAP/4 program
"CL_CLS_BADI_CHARACTERIZATION==CP".
The internal system error cannot be fixed by ABAP means only."
I am on a 64 bit System with CentOS Linux. 8 GB RAM, 250 GB HD with 20 GB free space.
So far, I could not find any information on this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Victor,
Go to SM37 and put in the username as DDIC and see the job log.
Also check Sm50 and see whether you have BTC processes available.
Last but not the least check your filesystem space usage too.

Since I upgraded to iTunes 11.01 the "Smart" playlists feature no longer works. I can CREATE the list but, the songs that I have played don't accumulate in the list. I haven't changed the steps that worked for me previous to the upgrade. I have no idea

Click on a station and drag to the left. The playlists sidebar will open up. Drop on the playlist you want to add to.
