Steps in a circle

Hi,
I have this strange problem. I draw a circle and I want that
the alphy in the center is 80 and at the edge of the cirle 0%. The
problem is that when I do that using color switcher, I can see each
step in the circle. I want a smooth transition from 80 to 0%. Any
ideas?
THX for your help

Vector gradients have historically been troublesome when it
comes to banding (or stepping). In fact, one solution in the print
side of things is to convert it to a raster image and add some
noise. But that's not going to help you here.
You can try adding more color swatches across the length of
the gradient in the mixer and play around with the alpha in those
to force a smoother transition. Also play around with the gradient
transform tool. I've found that adjusting the size of the gradient
helps.

  • Are circled numbered steps possible?

Can you create numbered steps that have circles around the numbers, and if so, can you specify the font for the number in the circle?

As an alternate to pasting in anchored frames with the circles so that they land on top of your autonumbers, you could try using two paragraph styles together with the Frame Above set to to a reference graphic of the desired circle to envelope the autonumber.
First, on your Reference page, create a reference graph frame with the circle in it at the desired location on the left side, e.g. something like this:
Note the guidelines also inserted in purple (these will help align things and will deleted when th process is done). The physical font height is typically 2/3 of the specified font size and the baseline for text placement in FM is at 2/3 the font height. This gives you a rough guide for calculating what you will need. For a 12pt font, this means 8pt height, so an 18pt circle will allow up to 2 digits in the autonumber to be within the circle. The above image shows an 18pt circle in a 19pt frame. The line thickness is 1pt and the circle is placed at 0.5pt Top and 0.5pt Left (to account for the line thickness),
Create a paratag (e.g. "Circle") that has the Frame Above set to use the Circle reference frame.
Set the Space Below to be a negative value about twice the Line Spacing, e.g. for 12pt font, line spacing is usually 14pt, so set this for "-28pt".
Set the Next Pgf Tag for this to be your nuimbered list paratag (e.g. "Numbered").
    Edit your autonumbered paragraph tag:
    Basic Tab
Set the Space Above to be the same negative value as for the Cirlce paratag, i.e. -28pt
Set the Next Pgf Tag to be the "Circle" paratag.
Set the first tab position (centre-aligned) to be the centre of the circle, e.g. 9.5pt C
Set the second tab position to be Left aligned and just past the edge of the circle, e.g. 24pt L.
Set the Left indent to be the same as the second tab, e.g. 24pt.
    Autonumber Tab
Edit the autonumber format to be "\t<n+>\t"
Save these new/modified paratag definition to your paragraph catalog.
Start a new paragraph using the Circle paratag. You should see something like:
Now hit Enter and type your first list item. You should now see something like:
Notice the slight misalignment between the circle grid and the autonumbers. This will vary by font and you may need to slightly tweak the Above/Below offsets for the two paratags to get a better fit. In this case, an adjustment to -27.5pt was needed.
Now just hit Enter twice (once for the circle, once more for the numbers) after your text is entered to continue entering text using the circled autonumbers.
You should now get something like (circles tweaked to be filled and the autonumber had a character tag applied in the designer - you can get as fancy as you want). The left side shows the contents in FM and the right shows how this appears in a PDF:

  • My built-in webcam is not being detected by CyberLink Youcam

My built-in webcam is not being detected by CyberLink Youcam (webcam) Pavilion dv6-6c10us

    Hello,
I see that you're having an issue with the webcam in the notebook. If you could, please check and see if the webcam is listed in the device manager. If you don't know how to check for that, you can follow step 1.
Now, if you can't seem to find it listed in the device manager it could be that the webcam may have become unplugged internally and requires service. It could be a faulty webcam module which is not been recognized. I suspect you might have to send the Notebook in for a warranty repair to get it fixed. Now, if that's the case after following the steps below you will need to call HP@8004746836 and see what options they have to replace or repair the notebook.
Also, you can follow these steps to try and resolve the issue.
    Steps:
Please follow this document which will guide you through a couple of steps on how to resolve this issue you're having.
The document should something like this:
First, try this steps that's circled.
If the first steps doesn't seem to resolve the issue go ahead and follow the next step below.
The first section "Video does not appear in your webcam software (such as YouCam, Skype, Messenger, etc.)" will guide you through a couple of trouble shooting steps to get the webcam to work within these programs.
If the first step doesn't resolve the issue please go to step #2 "Reinstalling the original webcam program that came with your computer”. This section will guide you through recovering the webcam software and drivers. This is the most important steps in the document if nothing before this resolves the issue.
It should look something like this:
Once you have finished both steps please let me know the outcome. If you have any more questions please ask.

  • How to create simple 3D illustrations?

    Hello!
Please, take a look at this image:
I am looking for a way to create these simple kinds of 3D illustrations. I use Illustrator myself in my daily work, but almost never for 3D (probably because I almost never create any 3D material).
My question is really about whether Illustrator is a good tool for creating these kinds of illustrations, or if anyone in here could direct me to a software program that is really good at this particular graphic?
    Thank you!

To "project" anything drawn in-the-flat onto the top plane of an isometric cube:
    1. Rotate the artwork 45°
    2. Scale to 100% horizontal, 57.74% vertical ( because .5774 is the sine of the isometric angle, 35°16'').
So in your diagram, you can save yourself some time by drawing the whole thing in the flat (all the base circles and the connector lines), selecting it all, and performing the two steps.
With circles, the advantage of first rotating to 45° is that the anchorPoints of the resulting isometric ellipses will be oriented on the isometric axes, providing snap-to locations for alignment to other isometric edges. Alternatively, apply Object>Path>Add Anchor Points to the circle either before or after the vertical scale. That will add anchorPoints at the middle of each segment, and after scaling vertically, you'll have anchorPoints at the major diameter, minor diameter, and isometric diameters.
If you then want to use true proportion for the height of the cylinders, move copies of the isometric ellipses vertically a distance of true measure multiplied by .8165—cosine of the isometric angle—(or scaled to 81.65% vertically).
Example: Assume you want a properly-proportioned cylinder of diameter 1.25" and length .375".
    1. Draw a 1.25" circle.
    2. Scale it vertically 57.74%.
    3. DoubleClick the black pointer tool. In the move dialog, key your true-length measure (.375), followed by a multiplication symbol (*), followed by .8165. Then cllick the Copy button.
    4. White pointer: Select the bottom anchorPoint of both ellipses. Copy. Paste In Front.
    5. Press Ctrl and tap J twice (shortcut for Join). That gives you the side of the cylinder, to which you can now apply a horizontal linear grad.
So you could draw that whole diagram in a matter of minutes and end up with properly-proportioned heights (if it matters), and end up with clean & tidy path constructions to which you can apply ordinary linear grads, instead of having the possibly hundreds of paths which 3D Effect will ultimately produce.
On the other hand, you could also simply go ahead and use 3D Effect in its Isometric Top preset orientation, for each of the differently-shaped objects. Then store them as Symbols. Then stack and arrange Instances of the Symbols to construct the diagram.
Example: Assume you want to draw the object that is labeled Supplier in your screenshot in numerical diameter-to-height proportion, with diameter 1" and height .5".
    1. Draw the green, blue, and orange objects in the flat. (Radial Grid tool would be handy for this.) Give them solid fills, no strokes. Group them.
    2. Proportionally scale the set of circular shapes to 72 pts (which is 1").
    2. Effect>3D>Extrude & Bevel. Select Isometric Top from the popup menu. Set the Extrude Depth to 36 pts (which is .5").
    3. Drag the result to the Symbols palette.
    4. Arrange as many instances of the Symbol as needed in the diagram.
In other words, as long as you measure dimensions of the base paths in points, the Extrude Depth setting in 3D Extrude & Bevel is proportional.

  • Clipping mask

I have made a circle; I have inserted a picture into the circle. I want to make the picture round (im making a badge) so instead of gaps I have it nicely rounded in the circle. I cant remember how to do it. I have selected all and then I try and make a clipping mask - I get error cannot make clipping mask the top selected object must be a path or compound. So where am I going wrong?
Ive done it before but I must be missing some steps.

    zatanna,
The circle must be on top of what is to be masked (in the stacking order, as you can see in the Layers palette/panel), and both must be selected.
    Are those requirements fulfilled?

  • Tracking of points

    Hello everyone,
is there any "standard" algorithm for tracking a lower number of points (i.e. ~ 5 ) in a sequence of frames?
At the current point, I'm able to analyse a video stream and search for the center points of circles. Now i have to determine in each frame, which center point belongs to which circle - thats where i need to track these points.
Is this very complicated? I cant seem to find any method on the web on how to do this Oo
    Thx a lot in advance!!
    greets,
    Binom

    Hello Alan,
i must admit the "question" was a bit confusing.
What I am doing is capturing a real time video stream (a video file right now, but should be a stream from a camera in the real application) and analysing this stream frame by frame, or "picture by picture" as you can say. This is what I meant by calling these "frames".
I'm trying to track a special target, which is built out of 5 spheres in order to constantly track the position and direction of the target. There should be 4 cameras, each of these capturing a 2D view of the target (I dont have to care about the environment of the target, because i capture the spheres in infrared, so nothing else should be recorded).
So, i have to analyse each of those camera views in 2D - first step would be circle recognition (for the center points), this is something i hope that works just ok right now.( After analysing all 2D views I have to bring them togeteher(somehow^^) to calculate the 3D information [namely: position and direction] ). I search for the circle by using the DSJ Wrapper (a directshow wrapper for Java) to capture the video stream and then using some sort of "Flood Fill" algorithm on each frame to find the circles.
So the tracking of the center points is the challenging part of this: For each frame(or picture) from the video stream, i have the 2D position center points of the circles as x and y coordinates in the resolution of the picture in the video frame. By now, these coordinates are stored in an array. These are the points i need to track."Tracking" means i have to check which point in the array belongs to which sphere on the target. I know the relation of centers to sphere in the first frame (meaning at the start of the video i know which center belongs to which sphere), because this is a special initialization postiion. From this point on , the relation must be calculated by the tracking algorithm...
I only found one tracking concept, called "IPAN Tracker", but it seems to me a bit overloaded since i dont have such a great number of points to track and I wonder if there is an easier solution for just 5 points...
Thanks for reading all this, hope this wasnt too long Oo
    greetings,

  • How to Step and Repeat around a circle or radius

For those looking for the simplest way to create multiple shapes evenly (equally) spaced around a center point, here's the only solution in Illustrator.
    1. Begin by drawing two intersecting guidelines, centered on your page. Turn on Smart Guides (CTRL + U) so you can make sure you are aligning the finished product.
    2. Draw the object you want to use. Center the object on the guidelines.
    3. Drag the object away from the intersecting guidelines.
    4. Draw a vertical line along the guideline.  Make sure that it extends through your object.
    5. Decide how many objects you want to create.
    6. With the vertical line selected, double-click the Rotate tool (Object > Transform > Rotate...).
    7. From the chart at the left, select the angle associated with the number of objects you want.
    8. Enter that number and click the COPY button.
    9. With the new line still selected, hit CTRL + D to repeat the duplicated line until it repeats completely around the circle.
    10. Select the object. (Make sure Smart Guides is ON).
    11. Click the Rotate tool.
    12. First click the intersection of the guidelines to establish the rotation point.
    13. Select the center point of the object and hold down the ALT key to move and duplicate the object.
    14. Move the object until it intersects with the next line. You'll see Smart Guides say "Intersect".
    15. Hit CTRL + D to duplicate the objects around the radius.
    16. Delete the lines.   You're DONE!

    GRW,
here's the only solution in Illustrator.
There is (almost) always more than one solution.
    Another one, or two:
    1) Draw the object and place it somewhere appropriate (maybe at a certain distance below the lower left corner of the Artboard X=Y=0);
    2) Draw a no fill no stroke circle with a centre appropriately aligned with the object (such as X=Y=0) and a diameter large enough for it to enclose the object, group with 1) or just select both;
    3) One of the following performed on 1)+2):
    3a) Object>Transform>Rotate inserting 360/N, where N is the number of items round the circle, repeat (Ctrl/Cmd+D) once less (delete the circles if desired);
3b) Effect>Distort & Transform>Transform, rotate similarly  with one copy less (this requires grouping); Object>Expand Appearance  if desired to have independent separate objects.
Some of the angles in the table are approximations and therefore inaccurate; 360/N is accurate.
A new Circle Thread is born.
    Who is next?

  • Issues with MacBook hard drive - next steps to take?

    Hello,
I have a 15-inch MacBook Pro that I purchased in early 2010 which came with Snow Leopard, later upgraded to Mountain Lion.  The other day my machine completely froze up during run-of-the-mill web browsing.  When I tried to manually restart, I got stuck on the gray Apple screen with the rotating circle for over an hour.  I haven't been able to boot regularly since.  I tried resetting the PRAM - nothing.
I tried booting to the Recovery drive, which worked at first, but when I would run Disk Utility, the Macintosh HD drive would suddenly randomly disappear from the Disk Utility sidebar during Verify or Repair operations, and then the system would just hang/freeze.  Now I can't boot into Recovery at all - it just hangs on the gray Apple screen.  I tried booting from a Snow Leopard install DVD and Disk Utility does the same thing - recognizes Mac HD at first, but it disappears from Disk Utility when I try to do anything.
I tried using a Diskwarrior DVD, and Diskwarrior does not recognize the hard drive at all - it only sees the Diskwarrior DVD.
When I boot into single user mode and run fsck -yf it says everything is OK.  If I press Option while booting both Mac HD and Recovery show up, but I can't get into either anymore.
I opened up my laptop to make sure everything looked okay, and aside from a little dust, the HD cable seemed secure and connected.
I have some stuff on my HD that isn't backed up that I would like to be able to recover.  So what would the next step be?  I'm not sure if this is a failed HD issue or a failed cable issue.  Should I buy an enclosure for my HD and see if I can get it going externally?  Would that be the best way to see if it is the drive and not the cable?  An enclosure is cheaper than buying a new SATA cable, so I'm hoping that's where I can start.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Yes.  See if the HDD will boot the MBP via a USB connection.  You should probably have an external HDD for backups or a possible replacement of your boot drive.
    Ciao.

  • Circle Theorem Problem

    Hi everyone,
Im new to java and would like some help in developing a certain circle theorem -
THe circle Theorem states that -
Angles at the circumference which are all in the same segment are all eequal-
I need to demonstrate this by letting the user click on the circle and drag it about on screen as well as giving him the option to drag and change the chords which contain the angles to prove that no matter where the chords are in the circle the angle that they form is always the same -
Plus - I need a table which would show the values of the Circles Area , Circumference and the angles like Angle A, Angle B and Angle C etc.
The chords when touching the circumference should display a point which the user can drag..
Please help or give me some hint as to how you would go about developing it.
    Cheers
    Gob.

Your pretty diagram won't actually prove anything, but I suppose your teacher was looking for a nice problem.
First, write the code to draw a circle.
Then amend it to have a parameter theta and draw the chords from your chosen diameter to a point on the circle at angle theta from some arbitrary point.
Then write a MouseListener and a MouseMotionListener to track mouse clicks and drags and update theta.
    Finally add the display.
If you find that any of your code for these steps doesn't work, post it in this thread, being sure to use [co[b]de] tags to mark it up.

  • I am trying to sync a library from iTunes onto my iPhone 4s iOS7 however the songs won't load but there is a dotted gray circle around them. Can you explain how to sync my phone to this library please

I was talking to the Apple support and they said to join a chat. I am trying to sync my iPhone 4s iOS7 to my friend's library but the sync says its goes through (it goes through the six steps of syncing) but none of the songs go onto my iPhone. I put the sidebar on iTunes up and dragged the Music bar onto the bar that says Katie's iPhone. I then clicked down on the drop down for music under Katie's iPhone and the list of songs came up with dotted gray circles next to them. The circles are not filling up so the songs are not downloading on to my phone. Please help me download these songs onto my phone. Thank you

My macbook pro is stuck on grey screen with apple symbol in center with the progress circle under it continusly spinning. After I had turned it on. Prior to turning it on I had to force close and shut down a few hours prior. Please Help I have tried everything I know to do

Unfortunately this means that there is a problem in the boot sector of your hard drive. It might be indicative of a fundamental corruption in the coding that allows your computer to boot your operating system from your hard drive. I had this problem twice and it resulted in me having to get a new hard drive and restore my data.
In other words, your computer can't talk to your operating system so you can't access your data.
Here is my advice: DON'T CALL APPLE TECH SUPPORT though they are kind and usually helpful it will take you an hour just to explain the situation and they will only tell you to do what I'm gonna say here.
First: Shut down your computer completely
Two: boot up while holding down the following keys: command, option, p, and r. The computer will reboot 3 times. This solution will likely fail so if you're frustrated skip to the next step.
Three: Boot up while holding down the option key. Select recovery drive. Select your default language. Select disk utility, click on Macintosh HD, and select "verify and repair volume." Likely the verification will produce some line like "unused node not erased." Or something like that. If anything using the words "node structure" comes up, you need a new hard drive.
If after verification and repairs you still can't boot I sincerely hope you have apple care because you will need a new hard drive. Set up an appointment to come in to the apple store, they will tell you to go and get data recovery, just ask them to give you the old hard drive. Unless you have an up to date backup in which case you can just restore from that. If you're lucky the only issue is with the boot sector which means that if you ask them to give you the old hard drive, you can buy an enclosure and you have effectively been given a free external hard drive. It still works to store data just not to load an operating system.
If you have a back up drive bring it to the apple store and they'll do the whole thing right there, it should take around an hour and a half but may take longer.
Hope this helps, it's annoying but it's your safest bet.
    All the best.
