Steps in upgrading from CS5 to Creative Cloud

I have purchased Creative Cloud. I currently have PS and DW CS5 on my machine. What are the steps involved in upgrading? Do I install it first, then uninstall CS5? How can I move all my settings for my projects to the new version? I have many projects so don't want to lose all my settings.

There is no magic handshake or pink unicorn involved. You can keep CS5, you can uninstall it before or after - whatever you fancy. For migrating stuff, refer to this for PS:

Please try uninstalling the trial of Muse and reinstalling through the Adobe Application Manager
The uninstaller should be listed
on Mac OS
1. Double-click your hard drive.
2. Go to Applications > Utilities > Adobe Installers.
on Windows
1. Click Start > Control Panel.
2. Click Programs and Features.
To reinstall Launch Adobe Application Manager from
Applications Folder on Mac or the Start Menu on Windows.

No. There are no discounts for owners of Elements products.
The only discount applies to existing owners of Creative Suites CS3, CS4, CS5 or CS6.

Going back to CS6 instead of Creative Cloud. Can I upgrade from CS5?

Hi, I upgraded from CS5 to CC about a year ago, thinking my studio at work was doing the same.
Studio is using CS6 and I am finding Creative Cloud very expensive, so I'd like to revert back to CS6.
Do I have to buy this from scratch? Or can I upgrade to it from my CS5 which is still installed?

It is not necessary to retain the older installations. YOu might want to consider if you will have any need for them in terms of working with older files, but other than that you can probably uninstall them without missing them.

You get a discounted first year on your subscription if you own a previous product, which you should have been asked for when signing up.

Multiple problems installing upgrade from CS5 Design Prem. to CS6 Design Prem.

I had started a thread a few days ago regarding problems that I was having while installing my upgrade from CS5 Design Premium to CS6 Design Premium. Everything seemed to install fine with the exception of Acrobat X Pro. http://forums.adobe.com/message/4716847#4716847
I thought that I had resolved the issue through tech support, but apparently not. First of all, they had me install the trial version of Acrobat X which actually let me install with no errors. A couple of days passed and Acrobat asked if I would like to continue my trial or enter a serial number. I tried to use my serial that came with my upgrade but it rejected it, so I opted to continue the trial. Then earlier today as I was working in InDesign, upon launching I got a script error message.

Cannot open resource file.
After clicking OK it seemed to open InDesign fine and I was able to open files and go about working. While working I noticed that I had no effects in the dropdown menu under 'Object'. Tried the shortcut for them and nothing happened. I have yet to try to open any files containing effects (drop shadow or something) but am guessing that they will not work. My next course of action was to try to Uninstall and Re-Install. I removed CS6 and Acrobat X Pro from my computer and ran the Creative Suite Cleaner program. Then instead of installing the upgrade from the DVD, I decided to download the program from the Adobe LWS and give that a go thinking that maybe the download files are more up-to-date than the DVD that I recieved. Now it seems I am back to square one with the same problems (InDesign missing 'Effects' and who knows what else, and Acrobat X Pro failed to install), but this time I have diffent errors on the "error summary file" that shows up as a link in the "Installation Complete" dialog box. Sorry for being windy, but I really need to get this resolved. Thanks for any and all input. PC is Dell Precision T3500 running Windows 7 and is current on it's updates.

anything i should know about the difference here - i am used to building folios with 5.5 ?

There's the convenience of placing Edge files and pasting HTML.
CS6 will also package your files with Overlay Assets.
Beside that there's nothing major (unless you include alternate layouts).
If you're going to be producing Single Edition apps you may want to
check out moving to CS6 via Creative Cloud as they are included with the

I'm looking at getting some new pcs this week, and want to upgrade my copies of cs5 to cs6. Are these valid for a free upgrade to cc or should I wait until cc is released to go from cs5 to cc then?

You can upgrade from the CS5 to Creative cloud. Currently CS6 application are being provided over Creative cloud website however once CC will be launched you will be able to get the CC application from Creative cloud website and can install/use them.

We bought the CS5.5 educational copy for our daughter in college. Now she needs CS6. Called about an upgrade and was told there isn't one, that we need to buy a whole new version or use cloud with a monthly fee. Basically our CS5.5 is useless now! I have never been a big fan of monthly subscriptions either. What a rip off!

Photoshop CS6 issue with shortcuts and my keyboard after upgrade from CS5

I recently upgraded from CS5 Extended to CS6 Extended on my Mac (Mavericks), but installed it in English instead of German this time. I transferred most of my presets just fine, but none of the keyboard shortcuts were working. All I got was an unequal sign for all shortcuts and even manually changing them didn't get them to work. I found a few discussions about this issue and ended up adding a German keyboard, as I am always on the Romaji setting of my Kotoeri (Japanese) keyboard. That seemed to solve the issue, but only if I change to the German keyboard before opening Photoshop. Shortcuts don't work in CS5 anymore either unless I do. Sometimes the shortcuts also stop working a while after I change back to the Kotoeri keyboard.
Now I would like to know if there is any way to get around this issue. Isn't there a way to get my shortcuts working again without constantly having to change keyboards? I much prefer the Kotoeri one since the icon for the German keyboard in my menu bar looks extremely obnoxious, in my opinion. It's mostly a cosmetic thing to me, but I would love to get everything back to the way it was before.
I'd much appreciate any advice or help.

I am having a similar problem. Just upgraded to Apple Yosemite and all none of my keyboard shortcuts are working in a clean install of Photoshop CS6. Every menu item has some form of the ≠ sign. I've trashed the .plist file, rebuilt permissions, etc. Even basic keyboard commands, like Command-N for NEW or Command-Q for QUIT do not work. In fact, many don't show up in the menu at all. I don't have this issue in InDesign CS6 or Illustrator CS6. Every once in awhile, maybe 1 time out of 20, menus and keyboard shortcuts work properly, but I can't find any pattern.
