    Hi,
Are there any known issues involved in installation of 9i
    and 9ias on SuSE linux 7.3 ??
Also please let me know what are the workarounds for those
problems and where the patches may be downloaded from ??
I am asking this question because SuSE 7.3 is not yet
    certified by oracle.

  • Oracle9i Installation on SuSe Linux 7.3 Professional Edition

    Hi,
I'm trying to Install Oracle 9i Database server on SuSe Linux 7.3 Professional Edition. I have gone throgh the Oracle 9i release notes for the Linux version. In the release notes document, in the OS Software Requirement section ( the following statement is mentioned as below ):
"The following executables must present in the /usr/bin directory : make, ar, ld, nm"
But after the Linux insalltion I found that only make executable is present and other doesn't. My doubt is, if I continue with the Oracle Installtion without these files does the installer cause any problems? If so how do I get these executables, as these executables doesn't exist in the "Software Installation" listing of SuSe 7.3 Professional edition?
Another doubt is, Does SuSe 7.3 Professional edition suitable for Oracle 9i Database server? I checked the Kernal version, it seems to be OK.
    Please help.
    Thanks in advance

I am having another problem now . I cant login to the user login page from my windows box

    Hi Sudheer,
I am sorry but I guess you are using the wrong versions here
SAP does not support SUSE11 and also Java version should be 1.4.2.....
SAP only supports SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10,SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9,SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 8
Refer to SAP notes 171356 for SAP on Linux
    1172419 for Java versions
    These are highly useful
Let me know if you need any other info.

    Inappropriate Question.
If you have SAP OSS access, then please browse through service.sap.com/instguides --> SAP Business Suite --> ERP --> ERP 6.0
    Read the Guides.

  • Content server installation on susi linux 9

    Hi friends
this is first time i am installing content server on linux system . and i facing too many problems as iam really not aware of linux
anway can provide me step by step details to install and configure content server on linux operating system

    Hello!
I presume (taking the name of this forum) the original question was about SAP ContentServer?
This would be a rough description how to configure a SAP CS/CSC for FileSystemStorage
    0) if linux is not your platform of choice (it would be mine) - take a different platform
    1) read and understand SAP notes, especially 664384, 586895 and related
    2) make sure you are using an enterprise linux (cf. service.sap.com/PAM)
    3) your linux installation should (amongst others) contain
        a) gcc (GNU c-compiler)
        b) gdbm-devel
        c) libexpat
in general this would be described as a development (with regard to software building) system by some linux distro's
    4) retrieve the apache 2.0.x (for allowed x: cf service.sap.com/PAM) source code to build your own apache
    5) be root user
    6) create group sapsys
    7) create user csadmin, primary group: sapsys
    8) you may want to create an own filesystem for content, e.g. /SAP
    9) as user csadmin build apache with option (amongst others) --prefix=/home/csadmin (presuming this is csadmin's HOME)
    10) if you also need the cache server (you will as soon as you have more than 1 location, repeat 6, 7 and 9 for user cscadmin
    11) as root (make sure you have X), execute sapinst from the installation  master
    12) installation almost as under Windoze - don't use AdminSecurity as it will not work with modern UNIXes (ContentServer wrongly assumes that /etc/passwd contains the crypted passwords and there's a note proposing to put it there - security alert in my humble opinion) - better to protect transaction csadmin
    13) you should be all set
I hope I didn't forget anything - this was from memory.
Contact me if you have problems.
Good luck and best regards, Markus

  • MiniSAP WAS 6.10 and JAVA 1.4.1 (SUSE Linux 9.0)

    Hello all!
I have some problems with the MiniSAP installation under
    SUSE Linux 9.0.
I use the MiniSAP WAS 6.10, SAP DB 7.3 and the SAP Gui for the JE 6.10.
The Problem comes with the Java 1.4.1. In the documentation from the SAP CDs is the version IBMJava2-JRE-1.3-45 required.
If I try to run the SapGui i get many errors from Java (I think).
    Anybody has a idea ?

  • Installation of Oracle EBusiness Suite 11i Release 10.2 on Suse Linux 9

    Hi,
I have been going thru this forum and got some great tips but am still having problems installing it on Suse Linux Enterprise 9. The reason for failure is at 20% - adrun9i.sh script. Initially it was giving me error while unzipping the files, now it passes that step but gives error while configuring db. I am not sure what the problem is. I have set all the possible kernel parameters. Any help is appreciated?
    Thanks in advance,

I had the same issue, though I cant remember the percentage anymore, but it was whilst on Database Disk 2.
What I found out was that the DVD in which that zipXX file was had a CRC error, and the size of the .dbf (I think it was a xxxtx.dbf file) was smaller than expected, cos I manually unzipped this file during a rerun of the installation which finally succeeded. Unfortunately, the DB srung the error after I tried forcing it to mount and open.
I have now installed the same on SLES9, after I downloaded a fresh set of files from edelivery.oracle.com ( Its a nightmare if you have a slow broadband - Lasted me about 2 weeks, using a download manager)
You can see the article written by Micheal B on coolnotes in the Novell site, and get in touch if further assistance is needed.
Good Luck if you havent given up on the idea

Did you already setup the OS per the 11i installation doc?
Oracle Applications Installation Update Notes, Release 11i (11.5.10.2)
    http://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=316806.1
Already ran orarun to setup kernel parameters etc? Are you doing the installation as root and created the oracle (oraprod) and applmgr (applprod) OS users already, or are you doing a single user installation? I prefer having separate users as it is easier to tell when the applications processes are all down by grep'ing ps for applmgr.

  • Installation of SJSAS 8 freezes on Suse Linux 9.1

I am trying to install the Sun Java Application Server 8 on my Suse Linux 9.1 System. I have the Sun JDK 1.4.2_05 installed and the JAVA_HOME variable set to the right directory.
When I am starting the downloaded installation file as root, the GUI guides me through the licene agreement, the installation directory selection (/opt/SUNWappserver) and JDK selection (/usr/lib/j2sdk1.4.2_05).
After this step the installer just freezes. Nothing happens any more - the only thing I can do is aborting on the console with Ctrl+c.
The same thing happens when I try using the non-GUI installing process - at the same step. Even using another JDK - I tried 1.4.1 - leads to the same result.
Referring to the topic of eric.r.turner in this forum ("Installing J2EESDK 1.4 on Slackware 9.1 and Current Freezes"), I checked the /var/tmp/ directory and found no productregistry files.
Does anybody has an idea what I can try else?
    Thanks!
    Holger

    Supplement:
I tried the workaround specified in Bug ID: 4978327, unziping the bin-file and starting
/usr/lib/j2sdk1.4.2_05/bin/java -cp .:package/PackageFormat.jar -Xmx256m appserv -nodisplay It did not work (though the opposite is presumed at the end of the bug description).

    Dear Rajasekhar,
this error simply comes, because the architecture of your computer is not the same as the one from the test drive. As I'm not sure, which architecture the N4S test drive uses, we simply have one of the following situations here. Either
your machine is x86_64 and the N4S is i386 or
your machine is i386 and the N4S is x86_64.
    Please check!
    Thanks,
      Hannes
