Please Give Steps top create new Info packages in BI7.0

Hi,
Steps to create Generic data source:
If you want to extract the data from MM table in BI Please follow the below steps.
1) Create a view on that table By going in to se11( Do this for future purpose, no need of joining conditon as of now why because view is containing only one table at this juncture)
2) Go to RSO2, create generic data source based on view and designate this datasource under mm application component, it helps to replicate easily from the source system in BI side.
3) While Creating datasource make sure that field selections and selection criteria for fields.
4)Assign it to a package(specified by the team) for transportation purpose. Make sure the dependencies also will be going through request other wise the request may fail.
5) Replicate the generic datasource in BI System(by going in to the mm appln comp under r/3 source system)
6) After replication do create info package, transformations and dtp also.
7) Trigger the Info package and then DTP.
now data will be there in your data target in BI system
Steps to create standard data source
1> Go to RSA5 ,Select what data source u want , CLICK Transferstructure.
2> After dooing this u can see the structure in RSA6 , if u want to do any customozation by adding extra fields u can do it her , if not no need.
3> go to RSA3 and check if the structure is pulling data or not .
BW SIDE
4> Select Source system ->Replicate data source
5> create Transfer rules , update rules and cube and u are done
6> u can create a infopackage and schedule ur data load into the cube or ods.

I have replicated the data source 0fi_gl_10 into sap bw but while creating info package i am getting error " The DataSource 0FI_GL_10(E01CLNT200) does not exist in object version A". IS the manual activation always should be done for that ?

Hi,
Please check if the veriosn of DataSource is A or not. Sometimes it shows as active but if you open the datasource then it might be in modified version only. Do activate it manually, it will serve your purpose to create a infopackge.

Update mode options while creating info package

Hi all .
while creating info package in update tab we have different radio buttons as
FULL UPDATE,DELTA UPDATE,INTIALIZE DELTA PROCESS. could you pls explain this optons.

Hi Sami,
We have two update modes 1)Full update 2)Init Load(to enable delta)
Full Load --->Master data Load
Init Load----->Transaction data Load.
Full Update-To load Historical Data.
Init-This is done to enable the Delta Upload.
Delta will be done only if the Init has happened.
For deltas they are Data source specific which are delta enabled.
1. Full Load (Extracts whole data available in source)
2. Initialization (without data transfer): Enables only delta and no data.
3. Initialization with data: Extracts whole data from source and enables delta.
4. Delta: Extracts only modified or new data.
Above modes works for Master as well as Transaction also.

Steps to create Infocube:
Go To InfoArea->Context Menu (right click)-> Select Create Info cube->Give Technical name & Description->Select the charactersitics , time characteristics and key figures you want in the cube from template->Create dimensions and make sure that all logically related characteristics are in one dimension-> Activate the infocube.
Steps to Create ODS:
Go To InfoArea->Context Menu (right click)-> Select Create ODS object->Give Technical name & Description->Select the characteristics which you want as key fields and drag & drop them in Key fields of ODS-> Select the key figures or characteristics which u want as data fields and and drag & drop them in data fields of ODS->Fianlly activate the ODS .

Cannot create Info Package

Hi
When i try create Info Packge for the Data Source 0SBO_CUSTOMER_ATTR i am getting information message as
"No extractor defined for DS '0SBO_CUSTOMER_ATTR' and SS 'FILE' - cannot create Info Package"

its giving same message after replication too,
info object 0customer is activated but in log it shows me error as
"Cannot save DataSource 3.x 0SBO_CUSTOMER_ATTR(FILE)"
and "DataSource 0CUSTOMER_ATTR does not exist in source system FILE of version A"
what should i do solve this problem

is it necessary to create info package for hierarchy for loading flatfile or mantain hierarchy is sufficient for that please suggest

Hi,
there is two ways you can maintain hierarchy data in an master data.
you can manually maintain the data in an infoobject for hierarchy by selecting that particular infoobject and maintain master data option. here u won't need any infopackage creation.
but if you are loading through flat file means you have to create and maintain the path for flat file in infopackage maintenance.

Creating Info-Package Groups

Hi All,
We are running a Job through Process chain. But due to some bug it is taking 4 Hrs to complete. We tried executing the Info-Packages manually. It completed with in 30 Mins. So we are planning to create IP group to trigger that Job instead of through Process chain.
Can you please explain how to create the Info Package Group and how to include info packeges in to the IP Group.
After creating IP group we have to schedule a Job to trigger this IP group which inturn triggers the Info packages.
If possible please explain the steps for the above process.

Hi,
Procedure to create InfoPackage Group
Go to InfoSource tree in modeling of the Administrator Workbench and choose in the standard toolbar of the right area of the screen Show InfoPackage Group.
On the right-hand side of the screen, you will see the InfoPackage group tree.
Highlight a node of the InfoPackage group tree and create a new InfoPackage group using the context menu (right mouse click). This is always inserted underneath the highlighted node.
Select an InfoPackage (in the InfoSource tree in the middle area of the screen) that you want to transfer to the InfoPackage group and move it into the InfoPackage group you want by using drag & drop.
You can assign as many InfoPackages as you like to an InfoPackage group.
InfoPackages with the same selection conditions, same assignment for combination of InfoSource / DataSource / source system, same data type (transaction data or master data), and same data target cannot be assigned to the same InfoPackage group.
Alternatively to the above procedure, you can also create an InfoPackage group in the monitoring view of the Administrator Workbench. However, in this view it is not possible to insert InfoPackages into the InfoPackage Group.
You have created an InfoPackage group and have inserted InfoPackages into the InfoPackage group. You can now
Scheduling an InfoPackage Group
Choose Show InfoPackage Groups in the InfoSource tree of the Administrator Workbench Modeling, or choose the InfoPackages view in Monitoring of the AWB.
Select an InfoPackage group from the InfoPackage group tree and choose Schedule.
You arrive in the scheduler (InfoPackage group maintenance) with the InfoPackages and Scheduling tab pages.
Select the InfoPackages you want to load.
By default, all InfoPackages are selected.
On the tab page InfoPackages, number the InfoPackages that are assigned to the group according to the sequence in which the loading process is to be carried out.
For the InfoPackages, select whether you want the monitor to run a check during the data update to see if the first request from the list has been completely and correctly processed. Only then will the request for which this indicator has been set be processed.
Define a fixed delay of one minute for the individual InfoPackages. The delay represents the wait time until the next request is carried out.
Schedule the InfoPackage group in the background.

Error while creating Info Package

Hi,
I am new to SAP-BW .Could anyone help me in fixing the following error .
I have created an Info source for characteristic data and then trying to create a Infopackage to load master data , I have used the characteristic Material Number(IO-MAT) in this case .
When creating the Info Package I got two data sources in the pop up , Material number (Master data)IO_MAT_ATTR and Material number (Texts) IO_MAT_TEXT .
I was able to load data from a flat file into Data Source Material Number (Master data) But when I was trying to follow the same procedure and load the data for 'Material number(Texts) IO_MAT_TEXT' it gives me the following error .
Select the Language field in the source system -> Long Text
I am not able to figure out and proceed further. Pls help me out.

I have another question..I was able to fix the error regarding info package but unable to load the data..(data load is being failed)
In the DataSource/Transfer Structure I have LANGU , /BIC/ZB4_MAT (Material Number infoobject which i created) and TXTSH Fields ..
the flat file which i used has Language, MaterialNumber,description pattern alone..
(eg . E , M001,cookie ) and when i try to load this data..and check in the Monitor - Administration Workbench..it shows as unsuccessful..
The following error msg :

System response
A caller 01, 02 or equal to or greater than 20 contains an error meesage.

I have 80 infopackage in BW system with source system as R3 prod. Now i want to create this all info packages with source system as R3Q. Is there any smarter way to do it rather manually creating them. I mean some tool like LSMW..

Hi Sam,
you can try with reverse transport which means to create transport request on your production machine and include all the infopacks and import it to your QA system.

Hi,
Use BAPI_IPAK_CREATE to create a new infopackage or BAPI_IPAK_CHANGE to change an existing infopackage's filename. Then check the BAPI_IPAK_GETDETAIL to read the new filename.

Dump Error while Creating the Info Package

Hi,
I have created Customized ODS and used Generic data sources.I have loaded full Upload to ODS. Created Info Packages for Init delta and Delta for delta loading. I have ran Full Upload and while I am trying to run Init, I am getting the error.
While I am trying to open the Info Package, I am getting Dump error message.
Dump error Message :
What happened?
    The current application program detected a situation which really
    should not occur. Therefore, a termination with a short dump was
    triggered on purpose by the key word MESSAGE (type X).
While i am trying to Create New Info Package, the systems gives the Dump on the System
Please help on this issue.

Hi,
Actually, when we want to have delta loads in future, then we can just have one infopackage with init delta infopackage, so that when it runs for the first time, it pulls all the records and from next time onwards it will pull the delta records only.
But as you have done the full load with infopackage, now just create a delta infopackage, no need of init delta infopackage, this is the reason, its giving dump.

Steps for creating a package in java are as follows:
Choose a base directory for your classes. For example, you might choose c:\java\packages. Type the following command:
set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;c:\java\packages
Create subdirectories for each chapter or section, if you don't already have them.
For each of the classes in the subdirectories, add the following line to the very top of each file:
package directory-name;
where directory-name is the name of the subdirectory the class file is located in.
In other directories you may have class files that need to access one of the classes in another directory (package). To do this, write one of the following at the top of the class that needs the other class:
import subdir.*;
or
import subdir.classname;
Use the class by name in the new class file.
Note that you can create sub-packages by creating subdirectories of the original subdirectories, and inserting package statements at the top of the java files in those directories.

Info-package change mode

hi guys,
we trasfered all the infopackes FROM DEV TO QA Environment
when i try to creaate an info package in QA client it was in display mode.
as i know the reason that client doesn't allow any changes in QA cleint.
is there any other way where i can create the info packages in QA without chaging the Client setting.
we dont want to transfer all the time from DEV to QA.
just i need a solution to create info packages in QA without distubing client setting.

hi naga,
usually, we do not send the infopack from dev to quality systems. They are created in quality system itself as and when needed according to requirement.
To make that setting, go to Q system,
RSA1 --> "Goto" menu --> Transport Connection.
in the transport connection screen, there is a button in upper right section, "Object Changeability".
clicking this button will provide you list of type of objects that are allowed to change/no change. So you can set infopackges as changeable objects.

When we create info package on 3.x data source, we can find the setting like Separator for Thousands and 'Character Used for Decimal Point' in info package but where can I find these setting in info package when it is created on 7.0 data source?

Hi,
You will never get such option in Infopackage level for any datasource be it 3.X or 7.0 except for Extraction tab of Flat File data source.
The option for decimal character and separator comes in the EXTRACTION tab of the Flat File data source IP only and no where else. I think you are getting confused with this
In the flatfile data source you require these settings to be done before hand so that while extraction system can recognize the correct field values and field sequence.
Hope this clarifies your doubts.
