HI friends,
Can any one please help me with the things to keep in mind and the process to follow while going for creating new reports in BI 7.0. We are about to create some new reports ., also the things to keep in mind while getting the requirement gathering...from the core users,  firstly  the basics to keep in mind and then the finer details technically to logically attempt will greatly help me to accelerate things further,

Get the report layouts from the business.
Try to limit the data set to a minimum in the report. Decide with the business what chars they would like to have in the variable screen.
Discuss and decide with your users what they want by default to appear in the report output. The rest of the chars could be put in Free chars and could be drilled down.
Check if users have to be restricted to some characteristic values. You would need to create authorization objects and attach these to users. Get the list of users and what chars and values they need authorizations for.
1. Try to avoid Exclusions in RKFs/selections as these degrade performance. Try to include char values instead.
2. Check if query read mode is set to H - read while navigating and expanding hier (RSRT --> properties). This way the entire dataset is not read from the database at once.
3. A lot of navigational attributes also affect performance. See if you can add it as char in the backend and read master data while loading.

    1. Goto Transaction SE11.
    2. Enter the table name to be created. It should start with a Y or Z.
    3. Press Create
    4. Enter the Short description for the table
    5. Enter the Delivery class for the table. It can be 'A', 'C' or other.
    6. In the Fields tab, specify the table fields and the corresponding data elements or the built-in data types.
    7. If the table needs to be made a client-depenedent table, the first field should be MANDT.
    8. Goto Technical settings of the table and sepcify the Data Class and Size for the table. Also, there u can specify if buffering for the table should be allowed or not.
    9. Now, activate the table.

    Further to your querry, while creating new company code the following are to be the check list for the same:
    Country, Currency Language are common and other parameters are tipical prior to go for new company code.
    1. Chart of Account
    2. Country Chart of Account
    3. Credit Control Area
    4. Fiscal Year Varient
    5. Field Status Varient
    6. Posting Period Varient
    7. Max. Exchange Rate Deviation
    8. Controlling Area Same as Company Code Yes / No ?
    9. Cost of Sale Account Status Activated / Not?
    10. FM Area
    Further to the above, the mapping must be as per the SAP Relevance, such as:
    1. Operational Chart of Accounts must be same for all the company codes, if you are looking for consolidation.
    2. Fiscal Year Varient Must be same, if you are going to use the same operating concern for all the company codes.
    3. While assigning the Company code to Controlling area, Cross-company-code cost accounting required or not to be found.
    4. Assignment to plants and other organization units to be as per the requirement, how ever.
    I ment for Steps are nothing but scope, prior to creation.
    The creation of Company connected to Company code, I am unable to understand.
    The heading is about creating new costcenter, but the body of the issue is differ.
    I am updated about Company Code Creation and scope details, prior to do the same.

    What you need to :
    Create the App server as the same prod -- WLS as example,
    Create the p6 domain in WL;
    Install the P6 r81 software;
    Clone the Prod's P6 db to the Dev;
    Dbconfigure the cloned P6db
    Deploy the P6 8.1 ear file which should be the same as the prod's;
    Reconcile the P6 81 patches with Prod's.

    Unfortunately, if Apple simply allowed people to log into different accounts and download content, everyone would be using everyone could share everyone else's content and bypass the need to purchase anything. To protect against this, they limit you to logging into a new account to once every 90 days.
    If two or more of you, have different accounts and use only one computer, you should each have your own user account on the computer, to avoid the need to log in and out of iTunes.

    I was creating a release procedure for PO and after completing steps, Create Characteristic and Create class & while creating new release grp with the class created i am not able to save it and the error message is (ME492) is" Only one release class should be used within the release groups for overall release...".
    But i am able to create from an already existing CLASS and able to proceed further.( Note: I am using the training module and in the learning stage.)

  • SBO0001 error DBD:ORA12154 error while creating new connection

    Dear All,
    I have installed XIR3 on a windows 64 bit with oracle 10g R2 client.
    The CMS is up and running and I am able to connect to the infoview and view the lsit of all the migrated objects from BOXIR2.
    But, when I am trying to create a new connection for the universe or trying to execute the existing reports i am getting the following error.
    (i.e I guess BO is unable to connect to DB)
    *SBO0001 error DBD:ORA12154 error while creating new connection
    I tried various solution from BOB but still could not solve this. Please anyone suggest few tips regarding this case
    Business objects: CMS is running and able to connect to infoview and able to log on to CMC
    Database client: Able to log on to DB using sqlplus and tnsping is working.
    the details of the software are as follows
    *BO Server configuration
    OS: Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit
    Business Objects XI R3 3.0
    Oracle client 10gR2 32 bit
    *Database server configuration
    Oracle 11g R2 64 bit

  • Report template error when creating new report via SAP menu

    Hi everybody,
    we have the following error on our system:
    When trying to create a new crystal report on a SAP query, using the entry "Create new report from a SAP query" in the SAP menu an error occurs: An error ocurred while generating a new report template
    The error message appears after the SAP logon and the SAP query selection.
    I think this error is related to the report templates of Crystal...
    Is there any default template for SAP integrated queries?
    We are using Crystal Report 2008 SP2 with SAP Integration Kit.

    Please find below mentioned and overview on report painter and its usage.
    The Report Painter is similar to the Report Writer, but is simpler to use. Most of the functions in the Report Writer are also available in the Report Painter. The Report Painter is based on the WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) principle.
    Report Painter Structure:
    Characteristics must be defined in your report, either as data selection criteria, report rows, or report columns. To improve processing time, you should specify all characteristics in general data selection that are not needed in the report rows or columns.
    The process flow used for creating reports using report painter can be summarised as following.
    Create set->Select library->Define report->Check report->Assign report to report group->Generate report->Execute report

    I am getting following error while creating new user. How solve this issue?
    “Unable to load java class % specified profile option SIGNON_PASSWORD_CUSTOM. Please verify that the class exists and that it implements the java interface oracle.apps.fnd.security.PasswordValidation”.

    Following is the text from Note for Custom Password Validation logic:
    Customers who wish to use their own password validation logic may do
      so by writing their own Java classes that implement the
      oracle.apps.fnd.security.PasswordValidation Java interface.  The
      interface requires 3 methods to be implemented:
      1) public boolean validate(String user, String password)
        - This method takes a username and password, and then returns true
      or false, indicating whether the user's password is valid or invalid,
      respectively.

    what the most convenient way to customize the Category and Category items list while creating New Model?

    Now, what we want to achieve, is to customize this menu, to:
    1. Display in the Category window only f.e. two categories:
    - EA Diagrams
    - BPM Diagrams
    2. In the EA Diagrams, we want to have f.e. four copies of City Planning diagram, each of them should have different elements available, f.e. in the first copy, only Architecture Areas shall be made available, in the second one Architecture Areas and Business Functions, in the third on f.e. only Business Functions shall be made available. Additionally, it should behave like a hierarchy ... meaning you can create the second diagram, only as child (related diagram) of the first diagram etc.
    I know, excluding the particular diagrams/diagram elements can be configured using the right/profile settings, but how to:
    1. Customize the standard New Model menu window
    2. Create copies of City Planning Diagrams with different set-ups
    3. Set the relationship between diagrams
    Is such a configuration change possible?

    Note : Model template does not work as Category. We can't set. An enchancement request has been open to SAP
    In the following example I defined a new default (MyNewDefault.mcc). As you can see only BPMN models are available.
    To create a new category set with BPMN choice
    a) Copy default.mcc in MyNewDefault.mcc file.
        Go to Tools=>General Options=>Model Creation : Select your new category

    If I understand well your question. I suggest to take a look in
    Repository=>Administration=>Objects Permission Profile
    You can specify objects to show, mask, deactivate at model level.
    You can specifiy your own metadata.
    But I'm not sure you can mask, deactivate functions following diagram selection. It seem to specific.

    i have downloaded sap netweaver 7.01(trail version) from SCN.
    installation was successful.
    Frontend GUI was installed in System Drive(C Drive)
    and Netweaver was installed in D Drive
    i have started the application server.
    in the logon pad what are the details i need to enter while creating new systems in logon pad.
    i followed help and typed the same info as in the f1 help.
    in connection tab:
    connection type: Custom Application Server
    System connection parameters:
    Description: SAP
    Application Server : u9cmain (as in f1 help)
    System Number: 00(as in f1 help)
    System ID: u9c(as in f1 help)
    SAProuter Sring: (empty)(as in f1 help)
    after giving this details. when i logged in it shows this "hostname u9cmain unknown, check your application server name"
    how can i rectify this error. where can i check my application server name...
    help me out plz.

    You can't use the same host name and SIDs as per help under F1
    Configure as below:
    Description: SAP (You can use anything)
    Application Server : (your computer name or IP address)
    System Number: (has to be 2 digit, and which numbers you have assiged while installation)
    System ID: (your instance name)
    SAProuter Sring: (not required)

  • Problem creating new reports in 11.1.1 - still retains prior reports POV

    I have a problem creating new reports in 11.1.1 - it still retains prior reports POV. Example - I create one report - which shows "all locations". I then want to create another report, with a different POV, specific for just one location "North America". If I try to start with the original report and change the POV, the older reports default to the newest reports POV. I tried saving the grid with a different name, I tried creating a report from scratch (not using any prior reports, objects or grids) and I still get the same result. I also tried to use a new database connection - still no luck.
    Any suggestions? Am I missing a critical step?
    Going forward, what is the best approach to take to create several reports, with differing POVs? (example, the period and fiscal year may differ, or a location may differ). I want the reports to run, without using one report and chagning the POV each time.

  • Various Account Assignment options while creating new Bid Invitation

    Dear Guru's,
    It seems while creating fresh Bid Invitation there is no option to define the Cost assignment like Cost Center, Asset, Order, Project, Network.
    System creates Bid Invitation only for Cost Assignment "CC - Cost Center". Is my understanding correct?
    Can any one confirm that Bid Invitation can only be created only for Materials/Services wtih Cost Assignment CC and Direct Material Option?

    We tried that scenarios also, we maintained alternate Account Assignment in Org Structure like AS, CC, NET, OR. These various Cost assignment options are also visible while creating Shopping Cart.
    But while creating new Bid Invitation system does not have any provision in Item details to enter the Cost Assignment details like shopping cart.
    That is why this question?
    We would like to invite bids for Asset, Project, Order and WBS element materials. So that system creates purchase order with respective Account assignment in backend as follow-on documents.
