Steps to put a dvd on ipod

can someone walk me through all the steps of putting a dvd on the ipod. i already got a dvd ripped and in some different format. i put it in videora converter but there are more than one file to be converted. so which one should i convert or am i doing this all wrong?

I have not timed it, as I normally convert in the background, but it can take an hour or more, depending on how fast your computer is, and which codec you pick for the conversion. I believe MPEG4 is faster at converting than H264 for example.

I use dvd decrypter though you may find it hard to come by since they were just bought. Then I use a program called Xilisoft (www.xilisoft.com) to convert. I convert to psp format as they share the same format (the psp requires you to have a .thm file as well). IF you want your file to be one movie file instead of individual .vob files, you will want to change you use DVDDecrypter the mode to ifo.Then you will want to right click on the pgc file on the right and go down to file splitting and select none. After that you need to click on stream processing and enable it. Deselct all options except for the top 2 (usually video and audio - you can play around with the audio but I find those 2 to be best. Xilisoft is self explanitory but if you can't figure it out, I suggest you Google it.
Remember, it is only legal to back up your own DVD's.

ok so i was told to use "decrypter" and so i went to google and typed it in and it came up with a few results
the first one was:

It is possible. You can download something called DVD decryptor (it's free.) Then convert it to .mp4 format. You can use Videora iPod Converter or 3GP Converter (I suggest this one, as it is much easier and faster than Videora.)
I haven't tried yet, but I've seen a lot of people say the same.

I'm needing help to put convert dvds and then putting it into my video ipod. I just tried with Videora but it only converted 20 minutes of the movie mean girls.

There are many "flavors" of DVD material. I have some converted 8mm film that was later converted to MPEG-1 and then to DVD (MPEG-2).
If you don't own the rights to the material (copy rights) the distribution of software, or methods of circumvention, are illegal in the U.S.
Sharing this (freely available) tips and tricks of conversion can also land some people into law issues they don't wan't.
Just because you "purchased" a movie on DVD doesn't give you the right to convert it to other formats.
Let the lawyers now chime in.

well, if you buy a video from itunes and have your ipod on automatic update, it should automatically go into your ipod once you plug it in.

It depends if you want a free program or not. I read alot of posts here before I made my decision.
I spent $30 on a program from cucusoft.com called DVD to iPod converter (I didn't need the Suite version as I only wanted to do my DVD's) When I loaded the program I had an issue with my antivirus and Spy Sweeper but I truly believe it was my computer not their program and I have all working in harmony, just had to recover and load a few programs but the program is one click easy and I've done 18 and all are perfect. I only changed one thing and that was crop mode to Stretch to fit to get full screen and not widescreen, everything else is default. Its just a tad faster than real time, an hour and 38 min movie took 1 hr and 25, and a 45 min tv show took 40 min. but my PC is not top of the line and is a year old. I set mine up to convert when I'm gone or sleeping. I'm very happy with it. You can get a trial version but it will put a watermark on what you convert but you can see how easy it is.
Try out some of the trials for the purchase software before you make your decision.
Just saw the other post but I think handbrake is for Mac users not Windows but correct me if I'm wrong.

this is very foreign but ive managed to put songs on my ipod but not sure as how to put movies onto ipod? is this possible....and if so do i have to pay for the movies through itunes or can i do it using movies that i have and if so how.. please help me

hi there, this is how i put dvds on my ipod... download pq dvd to ipod converter at www.download.com and pay a small price to use the software. (or just find a crack so u dont pay) then bingo. convert away, once converted, add video to itunes library

You need to burn your DVD's onto your PC first. To do this you will need a DVD burner. Once you have done this you need to follow the instructions at apple.com to convert them into the correct files to play on your I-Pod

I just got my macbook, and just got a new video ipod...was wondering if there is a way to put a DVD onto my ipod, because when i tried to do it, nothing came up in itunes and it just started to play in the DVD player....any help would be great. Thanks!!-------Max

Try "google" for iPod DVD converter software. I use "Handbrake" which seems to be one of the main converters for Macs, but I'm not sure if there are others.
