Steps to test RAC

Hi Gurus,
I have installed a RAC set up. Can anyone please give me steps to test the RAC like failover and which logs need to be seen regularly. How to check whether the RAC is running fine.
Database is 10.2.0.3 on windows 2003 64 bit.
Please provide all enterprise level testing on RAC. Planning to move our production database which is right now single instance to this RAC set up.

In LabVIEW OI the Run Selected Step Using Test UUTs does not work

TestStand LabVIEW Operator Interface (old style) - TestStand Version 2.0.1 & 3.0
The Interactive option was enabled for the Process Model Entry Point - Test UUTs in the SequentialModel.seq.
When selective steps were selected to run within the LV OI using the menu item 'Run Selected Step Using - Test UUTs' it was found not to work.
The reason for it not working was because the main event string was "Run Selected Step 0" but this isn't available in the case statement. Changing the "Run Selected Step 1".."Run Selected Step 9999" to "Run Selected Step 0".. didn't produced the desired result. Instead of the selected steps running using the entry point Test UUTs, the steps ran without the process model.
The Case Statement string was retored back to "Run Selected Step 1".
The changes that are required to make the "Run Selected Step 1".."Run Selected Step 9999" work with either of the Entry Points are as follow.
In the VI TestStand - Create Entry Point Menus for Interactive Exec.vi
Insert an Increment from the iteration terminal of the FOR loop. This ensures the Message Queue string generated is in the range 1 - 9999 not 0 - 9999.
In the TestStand - Sequence Display.vi
For the Main Message Event "Run Selected Steps", "Run Selected Step 1".."Run Selected Step 9999"
In the case "1, Default", decrement the input 'Entry Point Index' to the VI TestStand - Start Interactive Entry Point Execution.vi. This ensures the Entry Point Index starts from the value 0.
Now when the selected steps are run using a Pocess Model Entry Point, they run correctly.
This problem only appears to affect the LabVIEW Operator Interface and only the old style. The new style that comes with TestStand 3.0 runs correctly.
There is one other problem. When an Operator is logged in to TestStand, the Entry Point - 'Single Pass' is disabled. But this is not reflected to the menu item 'Run Selected Step Using'. Both 'Test UUTs' and 'Single Pass' are available to the operator.
The reason for this is because in the VI 'TestStand - Create Entry Point Menus for Interactive Exec.vi' the sub menu item is enabled as a result from the property Sequence.AllowInteractiveExecutionOfEntryPoint. This is not enough to disable the 'Single Pass'. The Engine.CurrentUserHasPrivilege needs to be checked as well. Which means modications to the VI 'TestStand - Create Entry Point Menus for Interactive Exec.vi'.

I am about to implement a vi which calls TestStand functions. This vi will allow to select tests and permits test re-entry (loops) if the user has supervisor privileges.
I will consider what you recommend in this string.
I will also provide feedback on this thread if I discover anything .... let's say "unusual"..
On another note, I am using TestStand 3.0 I have not observed any problems when running selected steps or run selected steps using single pass. I have also within TestStand set privileges for certain Operators to do the same. They have not reported any problems.

2. Performance ?
3. Layout ?
Please give us the parameters and then we can appropriately guide you to what needs to be done ....
Most of the above can be done using TCode RSRT - go to the TCode and select your query from the box provided - then you will have a tab called Execute+ debug - select the same and then choose what you want to see in the options provided and you can proceed..

Hi I am trying to create to the RAC one database mnaually without using dbca utility.
Can anyone please let me know the steps to to create RAC one node database.
I am able to find lot of doucemtnation on net for the steps to create RAC database but unable to get on RAC ONE nodate database.

As John said, Setting up RAC one node is same as 2 nodes RAC . You need to define some parameters . Please follow the Oracle link and it explains very well.

Report builder - build step level test execution results report

Hey,
I'm working on showing Test Results from MTM from specific mentioned plan using Report builder 3.0.
I can see, we have all needed details including Test Case, Test Run and Test Result under Metadata. Problem is we want to go further and see result of each step of executed test case. For example, we want to see how many "Steps" are passed out
of total steps of test case if test case is failed or test case is in-progress.
I can't see any information "Steps" level when I select measure group at "Test". Please help me with that, I'm trying to see this since a year now. This will save our manual effort of checking into the results using APIs.
Would appreciate any information on this please !

According to your description, you want to show the status(Run, Plan, Result....) for each case. Right?
In Analysis Services, measure represents a column that contains quantifiable data, usually numeric, that can be aggregated. Dimensions are groups of attributes based on columns from tables or views in a data source view. In this scenario, we should create
more measures to show the status of each case instead of creating a lot of dimensions. I suggest you create one measure for each type of status and only keep one Cases dimension.

Testing RAC installation

Hi all,
I followed http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/clustering/overview/rac112014-ovm-tmplt-test-config-365617.pdf to setup a 2 node rac using Oracle VM manager. I have went through all the steps, and now i am wondering how to test the setup and see if the RAC functioning correctly.

if you have access to support.oracle.com you can download a testplan from the RAC Startekits, which would help you find corresponding test cases.
If your VMs are running a "crash" of a server can easily be simulated by using "xm destroy" on the commandline of the OVM server.
Storage errors are more difficult to reproduce, since the "xm block-detach" does not work if the lun is still accessed by the VM. So testing a storage error is difficult in these environment.
Don't think a DD can simulate a storage error => it doesn't !

I have RAC environment with 8 Nodes (Linux 4) , I have one node as physical standby for this RAC.
My oracle is 10.2.0.3 , and i want to update it to 10.2.0.5
Could you please advice me with steps , when i Google i found that i have to start with standby then Clusterware ?
Any recommendation ?

Test RAC setup - Question on Openfiler

Hello All:
Followed this doc to set up two node rac http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/hunter_rac10gr2_iscsi.html
I have successfully installed Linux on two nodes linux1 and linux2 per doc above.
I have successfully installed openfiler on the third node, powered by rpath linux per doc above.
As per the document above and next step, i need to configure iSCSI volumes using openfiler. The document talks about using the browser thru which Openfiler administration is performed.
The issue i am facing is, i cannot get the browser installed on openfiler. How do i do this?
This node is not connected to the internet.
I have downloaded the firefox mozilla on a usb stick, how do i access the usb flashdrive on the openfiler and install the browser?
Is there a gui for openfiler?
If anybody has any experiences with this, i appreciate if they can share.

Openfiler should be running a web server. So you should be able to access if from a browser on other machines to which it is connected
Possibly the easiest way to go.

I had a similar issue in a project I am working on. I'm not sure if I did this the "Best Practices" way or not, but it works perfectly.
In the head area of my JSP I include the following:

    </h:outputText>This puts a 5 second refresh meta in the header to direct the browser to the correct page based on the status of the query thread.
There are many ways to accomplish the effect you want. I suggest putting all the controls into the JSP and making use of the rendered attributes instead of the JSTL conditionals to show the controls you want for the state of the application.

Were you able you do the 11gr1 RAC installation on Windows 2008? I am struck with configuring Storage as onfigure Shared Storage windows does not show any disks. Also runcluvfy fails with below error.

Result: System architecture check failed.
Can anyone throw more light to resolve this issue.

Steps to rename RAC E-biz instance name.

I have a RAC ORacle Apps R12 database on 2 nodes namele .36 server and .37 server.
I have changed this database name using metalink doc id Changing DBNAME and DBID of RAC Database Using NID [ID 464922.1]
where i have only changed the database name and not DBID
But after following above ID only DB name ot changed and not the instance name.Now i also want to change the instance name.
So,what steps should be followed to do it.
and after changing instance name,do we need to run autoconfig on database and application..
Please help as this is urgent.

RESTful Services comfiguration step missing TEST Button

I was asked to set up the RESTful Services. When I get to my last page, there were not a test button to test the RESTful Services Reference as well as the set bind variable button to set the bind valiable. So at this point, I was not able to get the JSON result file that will show the URI where the application will consume the Web Services. Can someone assist me in getting this work? is this problem and upgrade problem? the saystem was upgrade from 4.0 to 4.2

I would recommend that you review the APEX Installation Guide, for details on Configuring RESTful Services using APEX Listener 2.0 or higher. RESTful Services requires Oracle Application Express Listener 2.0 or later. The "Test" and "Set Bind Variables" buttons will only be visible on the Resource Handler page of App 4850 when your instance is configured to run with APEX Listener 2.0 or higher.
I would recommend that review the installation doc steps, ensuring that you have executed the apex_rest_config.sql script, and download the latest version of APEX Listener from OTN and configure it. Within the downloaded Listener zipfile, you'll contain a very useful RESTful Services Developer Guide, which I recommend that you review.
