    Steps to upgrade oracle database from11.2.0.1 to 11.2.0.3 on Windows 2003 3

    Hi,
    Upgrade steps
    1. Install 11.2.0.3.0 rdbms software
    11.2.0.3 patch set is a full release.
    Beginning with the release 11.2.0.3 patch set, you have two ways to apply a patch set
    i)Out-of-place upgrade (Recommended) -- 11.2.0.3 will be installed as standalone at another location. So there is no impact on source oracle home and also DB upgrade will take less time
    See Note 1276368.1 : Complete checklist for out-of-place manual upgrade from 11.2.0.1 to 11.2.0.2 , it is applicable for 11.2.0.3 as well
    ii)in-place upgrade - 11.2.0.3 will be installed on top of 11.2 installation, So source oracle home will be replaced, Downtime will be high comparing out of place upgrade
    for more info, Please refer to

    Hi Rajeys,
    I read all the documents but i was not able to find the information that i was looking. Below i am providing my cluster node configuration and version -
    1) No of Node in cluster - 2 (node1 ,node2)
    2) OCR (clusterware) version - 10.2.0.4
    3) Storage type - NAS storage (we are not using ASM).
    Now link provided by you is to upgrade ASM from 10.2.0.3 to 11GR2 but we are not using ASM as storage we are using NAS storage. Do we have any link or document that help me to upgrade oracle clusterware only without ASM from version 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.2 .

  • Steps to upgrade Oracle 10g to 11.2.0.4?

    Hi,
    Would you please tell me how to upgrade on linux to 11.2.0.4 from 10g? Do I install 11.2.0.3 first then patch? to 11.2.0.4? Or install 11.2.0.1 then ...?
    Thank you for your help.

    Starting with 11.2.0.2, patches are no longer patches, but are actually full installs - see MOS Doc 1189783.1
    So you can install 11.2.0.4 directly (you will have to download from MOS) - see MOS Doc 1562139.1
    After installing 11.2.0.4, apply the latest PSU patch for 11.2.0.4  - see MOS Doc 865255.1
    Then use DBUA as noted in the Upgrade Guide - Contents (assuming you are at least on 10.2.0.2 - Preparing to Upgrade Oracle Database)

  • Unable to continue Oracle Database 10g R2 installation on IBM AIX 5.3L

    I am facing some difficulties in installing the above. My environment is as follows:
    Server is a IBM system P, OS is AIX 5.3L and oracle version is Oracle Database 10g R2 (10.2).
    I encounter my problem when asked to changed/edit the shell script when changing oracle users. I can't find the % vi .login file. And I'm not sure how to proceed.
    Please advice as to what needs to be done.
    Thank you

    i'm using bash shell.If you are using a bash shell then .bash_profile is used by default.
    It is located in user's home, if it does not exist then simply create it.
    can this file be edited after installation?Yes. And also you can set the enviroment temporary (just for current session)
    I just can't find the vi .login file."vi" is command (text editor very common in Unix and Unix like world)
    .login does not need to exist (see .bash_profile as above). Note .login is ignored by bash shell.

  • Upgrading Oracle Text - Post upgrade step 10.2 to 11.2

    I already upgraded my 10.2.0.4 database to 11.2.0.1 and have to do post upgrade steps. In step 39 of Manual guideline (837570.1) is not clear for me. If some one can explain further would be appriciated. When i check my source ORACLE_HOME/ctx/admin/ctxf102.txt or ctxf102.sql
    Step 39
    Upgrading Oracle Text
    Copy the following files from the previous Oracle home to the new Oracle home:
    * Stemming user-dictionary files
    * User-modified KOREAN_MORPH_LEXER dictionary files
    * USER_FILTER executables
    To obtain a list of the above files, use:
    $ORACLE_HOME/ctx/admin/ctxf<version>.txt
    $ORACLE_HOME/ctx/admin/ctxf<version>.sql
    where version is 920,101,102
    For instance, if upgrading from 10.2.0
    *1. For dictionary files check*
    *$ORACLE_HOME/ctx/admin/ctxf102.txt*
    *2. Execute the script as database user SYS,SYSTEM, or CTXSYS*
    *$ORACLE_HOME/ctx/admin/ctxf102.sql*
    If your Oracle Text index uses KOREAN_LEXER which was deprecated in Oracle 9i and desupported in Oracle 10g Release 2, see below Note for further information on manual migration from KOREAN_LEXER to KOREAN_MORPH_LEXER.
    Note 300172.1 Obsolescence of KOREAN_LEXER Lexer Type

    Hi Srini
    Thank you very much. now i got it.
    Oracle asked me to identify the CTXCAT indexes with KOREAN_LEXER execute the following query as user CTXSYS: if nothing return then i can skip this step.
    SELECT idx_name
    FROM ctxsys.ctx_indexes
    WHERE idx_type = 'CTXCAT'
    AND idx_name IN
    (SELECT ixo_index_name
    FROM ctxsys.ctx_index_objects
    WHERE ixo_class = 'LEXER'
    AND ixo_object = 'KOREAN_MORPH_LEXER ');
    SELECT isl_index_owner,isl_index_name,isl_language
    FROM CTXSYS.ctx_index_sub_lexers
    WHERE isl_object = 'KOREAN_MORPH_LEXER';

  • Need help to analysis "foreground and background wait events" on statspack report for oracle database 11.2.0.4 on AIX

    Hi: I'm analyzing this STATSPACK report: it is "volume test" on our UAT server, so most input is from 'bind variables'.  Our shared pool is well utilized in oracle.  Oracle redo logs is not appropriately configured on this server, as in 'Top 5 wait events' there are 2 for redos.
    I need to know what else information can be dig-out from 'foreground wait events' & 'background wait events', and what can assist us to better understanding, in combination of 'Top 5 wait event's, that how the server/test went?  it could be overwelming No. of wait events, so appreciate any helpful diagnostic or analysis.  Database is oracle 11.2.0.4 upgraded from 11.2.0.3, on IBM AIX power system 64bit, level 6.x

    Hi: just know it now: it is a large amount of 'concurrent transaction' designed in this "Volume Test" - to simulate large incoming transaction volme, so I guess wait in eq:TX - row is expected.
    The fact: (1) redo logs at uat server is known to not well-tune for configurations (2) volume test slow 5%, however data amount in its test is kept the same by each time import  production data, by the team. So why it slowed 5% this year?
    The wait histogram is pasted below, any one interest to take a look?  any ideas?

  • Steps to upgrade my Oracle version from 11.1.0.6 to 11.2.0.1 in windows.

    Can anyone help me with the steps to upgrade my Oracle version from 11.1.0.6 to 11.2.0.1 in windows.
    Thanks in advance.

    If you are going to upgrade, you should upgrade to the latest 11gR2 patchset (currently 11.2.0.4). At a high level -
    1. Install 11.2.0.4 into a new separate ORACLE_HOME - see MOS Doc 1562139.1 and Contents
    2. Apply the latest 11.2.0.4 PSU bundle available for Windows - see MOS Doc 1454618.1
    3. Use DBUA to perform the upgrade - MOS Doc 870814.1 and Contents

    There is nothing like that.
    Each system is different, each application is different; on top of that it would be WAY too much to post here.
