Stereo audio goes to A1 and A17-destination track problem??

So I'm working with stereo audio that I've recorded via the Voice Over tool that was originally in my timeline. I recorded a ton of different clips of voice over so in the end, I put them all into the Browser, renamed them, and changed nothing else (I deleted them from the timeline).
This doesn't happen with any other audio than my voice overs, but when I import the stereo audio into the timeline, it goes into A1 and A17 (I had 16 tracks of audio, none of them empty, so it created a new one just for the second track of my stereo audio). Or if I put the first of the stereo tracks into A2, the second one goes into A16, same for A3 it goes into A15, A4 and A14, etc.
I've looked through all the user preferences and there's nothing that will change it. I've tried unlinking them and that doesn't work (I assume because it's stereo audio).
Someone please help!
Thank you in advance,
ACC

You need to connect the Source "patch panel" buttons to the correct Destination Track.
In the illustration below the source audio 1 & 2 goes to destination 1 & 2:
In the next illustration, source audio 1 & 2 goes to destination 2 & 4:

  • Audio volume not save and keyboard layout configuration problems

    Hello all,
I needed to register again because my old account seems not to be working
After almost 2 years without Arch due to work now I'm back to Arch again.
Everything has changed... now there is Systemd and even the installation it's different so I will need some helps from the experienced users
The installation was done yesterday and I found two issues that are really annoying me.
The first one... keyboard layout... Yes it's incredibly... I only want my system in english and my keyboard in norwegian... But all are problems for that. Before telling me to read more or search for information.... I will tell you that I waster 2 hours yesterday only for that... With no success at all.
The second one... even more stupid... why my pulseaudio keep the volumen at 100%? I tried different things... but not success at all.
So please, can you help me?
I will provide all the information you need.
Thanks a lot and so happy to be back here

    Hello Runical,
To be honest I was following a guide to install the system and everything works ok but according to journalctl I have some problems with pulseaudio so I guess that can be the original problem.
    I will paste it here:

  • Restoring stereo audio track link to video track as source/destination

I've read everything I can find relevant in discussions & manuals but can't figure out how to get my two audio tracks (stereo) linked back to video track as destinations, as they once were, with video and audio source/destination tabs joined. In the patch panel (when I started this morning) I noticed that only A1 destination button had an a1 source. There was no a2 Source button to join to A2 Destination.
In my groping around I managed to also make the a1 source button dissapear as well. Link and Stereo Pair are checked in the Modify menu. Linked Selection button is on in Timeline.
What the heck am I doing wrong here and how do I get those Source buttons to reappear? Thanks for whatever advice you guys can give.
    - Frazzled Idiot

"how do I get those Source buttons to reappear?"
The vn and an source tabs appear and disappear in the timeline depending on the clip in the viewer: if it is only video, there is only v1, if it is only stereo audio you have a1 and a2, if you have a standard clip audio + video you have v1, a1 and a2, and so on. Just depends on the clip in the viewer.
If you had only a1 source, it means that you probably had your clip unlinked, your stereo pair unlinked and you loaded only one of the 2 stereo tracks to the viewer. If you want to edit them back together select the video and 2 audio tracks in the timeline and cmd-L (link video to audio) and opt-L (link stereo pair).
After that when you load the clip in the viewer you'l have again v1, a1 and a2 source buttons ready to use.

  • Stereo audio rendering as mono

My husband and I recently purchased a MacBook Pro last November, recently installed Final Cut Pro 5 on it 2 months ago, and now we're experiencing audio problems we've never encountered before.
Fresh new project, new timeline, import a stereo audio file, double click and playing from the viewer it's perfectly fine, but put it on the timeline, shows up on two separate tracks and needs rendering, we render it and it turns into mono. It didn't do this before, we don't know what we changed, it used to work but now it doesn't. We must have changed something but we can't figure out what we did wrong. Even if we separate the stereo track into two mono tracks on the timeline, pan one left and the other right, it remains mono.
Please help, we're completely stumped on this one! Thanks!

The only problem with converting the audio files to 48 is that we have about 200+ audio files, living on about 17 layers, each with their own settings for speed and reverse and eq and more. Going back to reimport all that stuff would kill our deadline by about 40 hours = not possible.
But I did download that utility you suggested, it discarded our prefs, and now everything seems to be better. I'm having to "fool" FCP by placing an EQ filter set for 0 gain (i.e. no change) onto each clip, which trashes the render file, and when it rerenders it's ok, sometimes. For the ones that aren't changing out of mono I go back in and throw away that eq filter and re-render and then it's in stereo. Very strange. Also strange is that some of these animation clips now have 1 frame of black at the tail end before cutting to the next clip - very odd since the original files have NO black at all.
    Something very strange happened.

  • 5.1 (pseudo) mix from HDV stereo audio

I have done lots of research on this....and the folks in the encore forum have helped me figure out how to render my 5.1 mix to a Blu-Ray disc.
However now I have an editing issue....
I used the Adobe tutorial on how to setup a 5.1 sequence....I setup a new 5.1 master sequence, and told it I want 6 5.1 channels.  I then copied the same audio track to each of the 6 channels in the project window.  If I use submix channels, I guess you don't get the front/rear puck per the tutorial so I need 6 masters?  It is clear that you need to choose 5.1, but not so clear on if you are importing stereo audio, how many master and submix tracks to setup.
I want to take my stereo channel mix, and "spread it" across the 5.1 sound stage. I know this is not true 5.1, but I don't care.  I have done this with a much lesser NLE and if the rear channels are low, it provides a nice mix.
I think I am missing some of the steps though....do I need to separate my stereo captured HDV audio into mono or just leave it as stereo???
And regardless, once I had my 6 channels, and moved the pucks around, it was not outputting 5.1 to my PC speaker system.  It is a 5.1 setup with a Creative X-FI titanium sound card.  I do get 5.1 during editing from my other NLE.
I have read all the help files about choosing my audio hardware betweem WDM sound and Creative ASIO.  However neither choice provides me audio out of my rear speakers during editing.
I then read that I need to setup my audio output mapping....and I need to "Drag the desired sequence channel tile into line with the desired hardware channel in the list."  However I only have Speakers listed twice....and they only appear to be left and right.... Even though I have 6 audio channels in the sequence and a 5.1 sound card and speaker setup.
    So the questions are:
    1) What do I need to change to hear 5.1 audio during editing.
    2) For what I am trying to do, should I be splitting my captured audio into mono channels or leaving it as stereo.
    3) How do I setup my 5.1 sequence in order to achieve my goal.
I apologize if this is something simple.  I have done the reading and research and cannot get it to work...
I feel like I am pretty close to being able to transition to this much more powerful tool.  The video side is pretty straightforward.  However I am having issues on the audio side.
If this was CS4 and a photo question, I could probably answer that!!!
    Thanks,
    BJBBJB1

    Bill,
I typically do not resurrect old threads but there is so much good stuff here, I could not see starting a new thread!
I have been using this pesudo 5.1 technique with great success!  However, the constant issues I have with transitions and having multiple audio tracks is really weighing on me.  I am constantly creating audio sync issues when I insert transitions, or nudge an audio track by mistake, etc..
I am wondering if you have had much luck with any approach that limits the number of audio tracks.
Something I am toying with is having a 5.1 master track and feeding it my straight stereo input. Then moving the puck about one third of the way back from the front soundstage, and then using the center channel control to boost the center to a good level.  This gives me a bit of a rear channel, a stereo soundstage, and I can control the center channel. Of course I cannot apply a delay to the rears using this method, but that is a minor loss.
However I do miss the very discrete mix for the front, center and surround of the other method. So is this the best I could do given my current goal of limiting the number of audio tracks on the timeline?
If I could feed two or three submixes with one stereo track source, that would be nice and allow me to do what I want with only one stereo track on the timeline, but I don't think you can do that can you??  If you could keep the puck available on the audio track that then feeds the submix, that would also help.  But as soon as you assign a track to a submix, you lose the ability to control the soundstage for that track.  All control passes to the submix unless I am missing something.
The bottom line is any time I have 2 or 3 audio track copies of my original audio source spanning an hour or more, it gets unwieldy.  I am okay using additional audio tracks for music or sound effects, as they are short in length.
As always, any ideas most welcome!

  • Audio Update 2007-001 and mac Mini - boot hangs up

I downloaded the Audio Update 2007-001 this afternoon, and I've had problems with my mac Mini ever since. I thought it took a long time to boot from the gray Apple screen, longer than would seem to be warranted with a 1 MB update. Then I got the blue screen and another spinning wheel. I did hear the audio port turn on, but I never got past the spinning wheel (not a pinwheel), so I powered down. That was a mistake.
Fortunately, I could start up in safe mode. When I did, I saw that there was no audio device recognized at all. I restarted in normal mode and got the same problem as before: blue screen, spinning wheel. I'm going to let it sit there, but for how long?
    Any advice?

I solved my own problem. After restarting in Safe Mode again, I downloaded the standalone version of the audio update, installed that, and restarted. No problems booting up.

  • How do I import AVI video with stereo audio (and keep it that way)?

Today I just discovered that all the AVI video with stereo audio I've ever imported into a Premiere Pro CS6 project has been mysteriously converted to mono. And I can't find any import setting anywhere that enable me to change this.
    Here's the deal...
I've have an AVI file with stereo audio (the file is actually a stereo sound test that I downloaded to prove that I wasn't imagining things). On my hard drive, I right-click and view the properties:
    Video
    Length: 00:00:36
    Frame width: 320
    Frame height: 240
    Frame rate: 25 frames/second
    Audio
    Bit rate: 128kbps
    Channels: 2 (stereo)
    Audio sample rate: 44 kHz
I click on it to play and listen with headphones--everything is playing in the correct part of the stereo spectrum. Then, I import it to Premiere, click the file name in the left content menu, and check the properties, suddenly they read:
    Type: AVI Movie
    File Size: 1.1 MB
    Image Size: 320 x 240
    Frame Rate: 25.00
Source Audio Format: 11025 Hz - 16 bit - Mono
Project Audio Format: 11025 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Mono
    Total Duration: 00:00:36:15
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0
Sure enough, I drag it into the sequence, listen to it, and it's indeed playing mono. Outside of Premiere, the original source file still reads and plays correctly with stereo sound.
When I import stereo WAVs and MP3s, it keeps the original stereo channels without me having to do anything special. I even just imported the same exact file as a MOV with stereo audio, and it showed up in Premiere as:
Source Audio Format: 44100 Hz - 16 bit - Stereo
Project Audio Format: 44100 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
What is going on here with AVIs? Am I doing something wrong? Are there settings I'm missing somewhere?
(And before anyone suggests I only use MOV in the future... that's not exactly the answer I'm looking for.)

    Thank you for that info.
For video, the codec is MPEG-4 Video (XVID) and for audio it says MPEG Audio Layer 1/2/3 (mpga).
There are two issues with that file:
The first is the Xvid CODEC (not meant for editing), and then the MPEG Audio/MPGA. I would convert that file, to something that is more editable.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Stereo Audio channel turns to mono when I close and re-open the project

    Hi there,
when I import a random video file with stereo audio channels and put it to the timeline (after peaking), everything works allright - the recording level window shows me the left and the right audio channel.
But when I save and close the project in order to re-open it directly, I only got a mono audio channel (left) and the stereo is away in my timeline and recording level window. The preview of the imported video ist still ok with stereo sound.
Is this a bug ? What can do? Please help me.
    Thanks a lot

  • Is there a way to fade video to black and keep audio going?

I'm using iMovie 09. What I'm attempting to do is have a long fade to black transition at the end of the project that will obscure the last couple of seconds of video, yet keep the audio going during the fade till it ends.
To put it another way, I'm trying to ditch the last 2 or 3 seconds of picture, yet still keep the music that is going on underneath it.
Is there a way to do that?

Sorry, Karsten, I'm having trouble explaining this clearly. Here's what I'm attempting to do: I want to make a short example clip from a silent film to upload. Below is a link showing how this clip ends.
The thing I want the viewer to see last is the boy and girl sitting on the bank, not the litter of pigs.
However, I don't want to chop the music off to get rid of the pigs. So is there a way to fade the video to dark around :11 or so, and then have the music finish up in the dark a few seconds later?
In other words, how do I get rid of the pigs without chopping the end of the music off?

  • Adding video and audio goes to track 4....

Seems to only happen from videos I record of my Flip Video recorder but I don't know why. Any ideas?

To check Jim's assumption (which I think is correct), look at the icons of the "speakers" on the Tracks. Does your Track 4 have a single "speaker?"
My "default" Project is 2 mono and 3 stereo, so I usually have a few unused Tracks, when I'm initially placing my AV files (video & audio) onto the Timeline. If I do not, and my source Audio file is not a stereo file, then APP creates a new mono Track, below the stereo ones.

  • Video and audio goes out of sync when imported into Premiere

I have some videos ripped from some DVD that an acquaintance made, with an open source program called HandBrake, with the default "high profile" settings. When I play it both in VLC and in Quicktime, it plays just fine, but when I import it either in Premiere or in After effects, the video and audio goes out of sync (the video ran faster than the audio and when the video stops, the missing audio is trimmed).

"HandBrake, these days, is almost entirely about H.264 video, aka MPEG-4 Part 10.  HandBrake is migrating to quality-based encoding."
Hmmm.  I use HC Encoder to make my DVDs because it's the only free encoder I've found with the much more professional Constant Q encoding option.  But HC Encoder doesn't do HD sources for Blu-ray, so I've been wondering if I'd be stuck with the lame-*** consumer CBR and VBR options most encoders provide (including Adobe - hint, hint) when I eventually start working in HD.  This is a very interesting program, Handbrake.  I will have to check it out.

  • How do I break a stereo audio clip to get the left and right separately

$subject really. If I break apart a stereo audio clip I just get track 1, I can't get track 2.
    Thanks

I tried that, but I keep getting "Unsupported Clip" in the channel configuration audio tab of the Inspector.
    Here's my workflow:
    Import Flip cam's h.264/AAC MP4 files
Edit a clip into a project.
Break apart the clip, to give separate video and audio segments
The green audio segment (will have -a1 after the name in the segment) will be say it's an "Unsupported Clip" in the channel configuration audio tab of the Inspector.
If I change the original clip to dual mono before I break apart I get two mono clips, which is what I was after (but then I could just disable one of the dual mono tracks without splitting apart if that was all I wanted).
I suggest that getting an "Unsupported Clip" when I break apart these clips is a bug.

I have the feeling there isn't a real solution for many of us who are having this problem.
I just gave up and exported to the desktop, and then used YouTube's uploader, which works fine.
Sorry, I don't have a fix, but wanted to add my voice as someone who has tried a lot of ways with his iMac, and figured it wasn't worth all the hassle. YouTube's uploader lets me upload many clips at once, add commentary, and then go do something else, sure that it will go ok. I had the iMovie-YouTube link working for a bit, but then it went all haywire again.
