Stereo audio recorder AAC 128+ Kbps for N8?

Is there a high quality stereo audio recorder available for N8?
The in-built app can only record at highest of 64kbps.
I'm looking for one with at least stereo 128kbps capability.
Thanks a lot!

Im also very surpriced that high quality stereo recording isnt availible in the default recorder, as a musician i would have very good use of it recording rehearsals. The sound is pretty good in video recording.
As it is now it is actually fairly good for being mono (but ooh so 60`s ) and not so 2011 ) and stereo recording adds alot to the separation as well as the enjoyment of a recording.
I havent yet been able to find an app for this.
Please Nokia or someone else that have the skill, help us out with this !

  • No Stereo audio recording in HD video recording.

    Hi,
    I have Nokia 701.
It's too bad that there is no true stereo audio recording while HD video recording.
Though in specification it is given that there are two microphones for stereo recording.

I was right there with you. I posted early on in this thread and was working with tech support on the phone. We worked for a few days and it was like I was having to do too much work on my end. Nothing was working and they were so busy. Someone else posted that they took theirs back and it was an easy swap. I had already made an appointment at the apple store as a backup so I decided to drive the 50 miles. It was so easy....the guy really did not care too much about me working with support. He just tried a restore and was able to repeat the issue. Not saying that all stores are like that but I have had very good results with other apple products and getting support at the genius bar. Good luck...but you may be waiting a while. Seems that the hot topic for them is really the "reception" issue.

  • Stereo Audio recording in Captivate 6?

Hi, I am having problems with capturing stereo audio in sync with the video, in Captivate 6.  I am making training videos for music software and have looped back the audio from the programme into Captivate, in order to record it's output.  It monitors fine, but it looks as though Captivate is only recording the audio in mono - and there are no settings to change this.  Is this the case?  I really need stereo sound on the input, otherwise functions in the programme cannot be demonstrated correctly.  I have looked through the forums and it would seem that stereo recording was definitely included in earlier versions (as it caused some users the opposite problem of sound from a microphone only appearing on one side).  I am using Captivate version 6 on Windows 7.  Please can you help me?  Cheers, Mike

    Hi Michael,
There is no option to select the audio recording as stereo or mono at time of recording.
Can you tell me that have you installed captivate as a part of suite or it is a stand alone Product?
If you have installed Captivate as a part of E-learning suite there is a software called as Adobe Auditon which also gets installed as a part of suite , which can serve your Purpose , It can record as stereo as well as mono. and you can directly insert the audio generated from this software in Captivate.
And In Captivate also there is an option in Edit > Prefrences>Publish settings.
You can uncheck the Publish as Mono option while Publishing and check if it works for you.

  • In which steps of Logic E. can I make a stereo audio recording track with a right and left microphone?

I  want to make a stereo recording with a microphone for left and one for right. Can someone tell me the Logic steps to record 2 tracks (mono left and
mono right?) at once, to make a stereo track from both tracks?   I use Logic Express 7.

I think it is easy if you have an audio interface that has two mic imputs. You direct each of them to two different mono audio tracks. Then, at the time if playing it, you just pan one channel to the left and the other to the right.
I think this is what you are asking for,
    hope it helps

  • Stereo Audio Record problem (While recording video as well)

    Hi,
I just just bought Sony Xperia C3 dual yesterday. I'm having problem with audio recording. I installed the Sony audio recorder from Google play store but while recording in stereo mode with it the gain suddenly drops after 1/2 second(s). Same problem while recording a video with stock camera app as well, video quality is fine but the audio with it is,just worst. Tried third party app like regorge pro but faced the same problem. Tried disabling the AGC with it, but no good. Recording in mono mode just works fine and I get clear record.
    Any solution?
    Thanks.

@uliwooly  This one i recorded today morning. The audio starts good & clear at the begining but just after one second it drops & then you can hear the bus engine sounds like waterfall. Here is the youtube link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5H1jNxyYMlw Here's another video uploaded by a review site with the same problem https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3vKwydfN6U & more from youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GLLj2ommP4  then i used a third party audio recorder with mic switch option https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6d4uAEZFRE as usual with the rear mic the gain suddenly drops after second & you can hear some weird sounds like a "movie bomb" sound at 00:04, "rattle snake" sound at 00:05 & 00:12 & with the front mic starts at 00:17 you can hear the difference. It's mono but so clear & sharp.  Finally, as i dont have the mic swith option while recording video, all videos i record will have the same problem. This is definitely not  the typical "sony" thing to carry on.

  • Converting all my music to AAC 128 KBPS, Will there be a difference?

Will there be a major difference between anything higher then 128 Kbps?
I don't notice a thing. And plus I don't really pay attention to sound quality.

I can hear the difference between 128 and 320. that's one of the reason I never bought music online at that bit rate. other than 4 songs I got from Amazon, all my music has been ripped from my cd's at 320. Lossless doesn't provide any tangible benefit for me, but there are some that require lossless to "float their boat".

  • Stereo Audio Recording on N95?

Hi, apologies if this has been asked/answered before but I couldn't find it in a search..... is there any Symbian software available that would allow an N95 to record audio from a stereo input? I knock around making music with others, and though I have a portable multimedia device that is capable of this, I don't always carry it around with me when the moment strikes that I might want to record something.

The N95 has no stereo input, so this is physically impossible.

  • "high-quality" of 128 kbps versus higher rates

In a previous discussion a user was asking re difference between different bit
rates one answer clearly expressed dissatisfaction with 128 kbps for music such as instrumental and for music that is intended for streaming to a good stereo.
wondering if other users have a similar experience -- I am in the process of
importing a huge number of files and I wonder if its worth going to the higher
rate for all of my favourites.
I have a lot of space at the moment on my hard drive but I don't want to waste it if I don't get much improvement in quality. Unfortunately I can't test
it right now because I don't have a decent stereo system yet.

This was originally posted by the incredible Sparky the wUnderdog with help from MacMuse:
As a general principle, you can fit more CD's on your iPod if you encode at lower bitrates (making smaller files), but at the cost of audio quality. Apple Lossless promises to capture all the data on the original CD (thus preserving quality) but coded so the file takes half the space. MP3 and AAC (an implementation of variable bit rate MP4) both eliminate some of the information on the CD in order to compress the digital recording into ever smaller files--the lower the bitrate, the smaller the file, but smaller files mean more information lost and consequent poorer sound quality.
AAC files ripped in iTunes certainly sound better than its MP3's, with audio quality close to the best LAME MP3's at higher bitrates. With the type of music I listen to most often, sound quality declines substantially as bitrates fall below 256kbps, but LAME or AAC @ 256kbps sounds pretty darned good, and at 320kbps LAME alt-preset-insane is amazingly faithful to the original. However, many users claim that with the music they listen to they can't hear the difference between 192 or even 128 kbps files and the original CD source, so they naturally choose lower bitrates to fit more "songs" on their iPods.
CDs take approximately 10MB per minute of music; Apple Lossless takes 5MB/minute; LAME insane takes 2.5MB/min; AAC or MP3 at 256kbps take 2MB/min; and iTunes Store files (AAC@128kbps) take 1MB/min. At these rates, a 20GB iPod (really 18.6GB) can hold anywhere from 30 hours to over 300 hours of music. (iPod marketers express this potential playback capacity as "songs," figuring 4 minutes per song--thus 300 hours at 128kbps = 4500 "songs.") You will need to listen to samples ripped with different bitrates and codecs to determine the optimum tradeoff point for you between quality and quantity. It's worth taking some time to do this at the start as it sure beats reripping everything in your collection 2 or 3 times to get it right later.
So far as convenience goes, nothing beats iTunes's one-step process. To change bitrate as you import from CD, go to the iTunes menu>Preferences, select the Importing tab, choose AAC or MP3 encoder in the "import using" selection box, then choose "Custom" in the "setting" box, and the window permitting bitrate selection will pop up. If you choose iTunes MP3 encoder, at least use VBR (variable bit rate) to maximize the sound quality. (VBR increases sample size as data complexity increases.)
If you would prefer LAME MP3's, fear not, for the easy-to-use CDex ripping software is a free download and requires only one simple extra step to get the files into iTunes for transfer to your iPod. Now if AAC sound quality is comparable to LAME MP3, you might wonder why you should even consider LAME: Because of portability to other devices. At present, hardly anything but iPods can read AAC's or Apple Lossless, but almost everything reads MP3's. So if you plan to burn CD's of your compressed files for playback on your home or car CD player (for instance), it would be wise to choose MP3.
One other consideration specific to the iPod- It has a 32MB cache (If you don't know what a cache is, read the last paragraph of this page: iPod + iPod Mini- Batteries). Keep individual file sizes below 25 MB as the rest of the 32 MB memory holds the iPod's Opperating System. If you choose a compression rate that results in large files (i.e. Lossless), then the cache won't hold very much 'music' and the hard drive will have to spin up frequently to fill it, and that will shorten your battery life somewhat.

  • [Solved] How to keep the channels of stereo audio "as is"?

I'm using a 5.1 surround sound system with ALSA/PulseAudio. I'm using HDMI to transmit to the receiver to power all speakers up. It works for movies without any issue especially after I passed "audio-channels=6" to mpv.  But I notice that when I play a stereo audio, the sound comes from all speakers / channels. For example:
    $ aplay -c 2 /dev/urandom
Playing raw data '/dev/urandom' : Unsigned 8 bit, Rate 8000 Hz, Stereo (but all six speakers are working)
Does PulseAudio remix the audio? It's a nice feature for minimal multimedia speakers. But for some audio, it sounds better by just using to 2 channels as it recorded, and my receiver has enough DSP stuff and audio effects to remix the audio and to use all my channels (i.e I don't want to double-remix the audio). It should use the channels as it recorded. Is there a way to keep the channels of stereo audio "as is"?
    Thanks for any advice.

The "enable-remixing" is the setting the OP is looking for. It will disable remixing completely if set to "no", with the drawback that, say, 5.1 audio won't be downmixed to stereo if one only has 2 channels.
Disabling remixing globally seems to have weird side effects, I couldn't get my front connectors working after disabling it.
What I did was splitting my 7.1 device into a 5.1 and a 2.0 virtual devices, leaving the global remixing setting at default. Then I disabled the remixing for the 5.1 virtual device, while letting it remix for the 2.0 one.
So now when I want to remix, I just select my 2.0 device, and if I don't, the 5.1 device (or rather, in my case I actually have a 5.1 and a stereo device connected). The example is on the wiki

  • How do I fix bad Quality audio recording in Captivate 4

I am having trouble recording decent quality audio in Captivate 4.
What is happening is after I do the screen and audio recording when I play it back the audio is choppy.
It also kind of sounds like the audio is quickly echoed and then clipped.
Finally this clipping and choppiness seems random when it happens.
I tested this by recording 5 minutes of the demonstration (which recorded with only 1 glitch in the beginning).
When  I just recorded the second half when I played it back in Captivate it  was very choppy again throughout the audio making the complete session  unusable.
I am doing full motion recording of an application at 1024x768. I have tried all audio recording bitrates and have even gone up to 128kbps 16bit mp3.
I am using a high quality Audio-Technica AT2020 USB microphone.
I am running Windows Vista Service pack 2 fully updated with 4GB of memory on an Intel xeon W3503 2.4Ghz in 64 bit mode.
I have installed the latest patch update http://www.adobe.com/support/captivate/downloads.html 4.4.0.1 hoping that it waould solve the audio bugs to no avail.
Please let me know what else I may need to do to get Captivate 4 working like it should.
Are there any other settings or tests I should perform to get audio recording working.
Why would I even want to pay for Captivate 5 if Captivate 4 has worked so randomly for me.
Using 3rd party software like Audacity and even Adobe Soundbooth seems absurd when Captivate has audio recording built in.
For the time being I have gone back to Camtasia on another system because it actually seems to work but need to get Captivate working on my own system.

Try "Rapid Recorder" from store....it works well.

  • LE8 won't remember audio recording path (among other issues...)

Why won't LE8 remember the audio recording path I set for each project? Each time I open a project I've been working on (by dropping the project onto the LE8 icon in the dock-LAME) and arm a track to record, it says that that the path to the external HD is not found (-but it knows the name of the external HD somehow). I'll then open the record prefs, set the recording path correctly to my external HD and the coressponding folder, save the project, and record without incident (or at least the same incident) for the rest of my session. The next time I open the project the same thing happens.
LE7 never had this issue.... weird and annoying.

For generic performance and trouble-shooting advice I’d like to recommend reading these:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/optimize-performance-photoshop-cs4-cs5.html
    http://blogs.adobe.com/crawlspace/2012/07/photoshop-basic-troubleshooting-steps-to-fix-mos t-issues.html
    As for the specifics:
The image size is 4.31M. If I go to double the size and change nothing else, the image size jumps up to a whopping 17.2M.
If you double the dimensions of an image the area is increased fourfold – so what is the problem there?
The image dimensions are 500px x 135px, 300DPI, 8bit, RGB color. This is at 100% zoom. Those are the settings I normally use, but for some reason it’s showing the file as about half of the size it should be. (Tumblr post for comparison—they are 500px wide.)
The introduction or Retina (and other high resolution) displays and browsers actually up-scaling images to accommodate those screen resolutions seems to have confused some users about the concept of pixels.
Could you please post a full size screenshot on this Forum of the image at View > 100% in Photoshop and on tumblr?

  • Purchased AAC, unprotected, 128 kbps

iTunes 11 tells me some of my iTunes purchases are unprotected 256 kbps (Purchased AAC audio file), some are protected 128 kbps (Protected AAC audio file), and some are unprotected 128 kbps (Purchased AAC audio file). I thought all the unprotected tracks were 256?
All the 128 kbps unprotected tracks have a cloud download icon telling me I can download a new copy. But when I click the cloud, I get a clock icon for a few seconds, and when it's done nothing seems to have happened except the cloud icon is gone. The track is still 128 kbps.
None of the 128 kbps protected tracks have a cloud icon, but I tried deleting two of them and then I got the cloud icon. When I downloaded the tracks, they became "Purchased AAC" rather than "Protected AAC", but they were 128 kbps.
    Questions:
    1. Why do I have so many unprotected 128 kbps purchases? I thought all 128 purchases were protected and all 256 were unprotected. For example, my Styx Crystal Ball album, purchased in 2003, is still 128 but unprotected. Did Apple un-protect some older files on my Mac?
    2. Why are replaced tracks 128 rather than 256?

I figured out the cloud icon doing nothing thing:
Once upon a time I bought some albums and tracks from iTunes before they were available at 256, but have since bought some of them on CD and ripped them at 256, and deleted the 128 files from iTunes. The cloud icon is telling me those purchases are available in the cloud, and not on my Mac. I can apparently play them without downloading them, with a slight delay, or I can download them. When I download them the cloud icon goes away (it's now on my Mac), and I now have two copies: the one I just downloaded and the one I ripped from CD.
    Still unresolved:
When I delete and re-download tracks I've purchased, the replaced tracks are 128 rather than 256. The blog articles I've read said they'd be 256. I'm guessing that's bad info, and that I can only download it at the bitrate I originally purchased it. Right?

Hi, I'm trying to convert my music to 128 kbps AAC, How do I do that?? Thank you

    Hi Dawn,
Open iTunes and select preferences under the itunes menu. under the General tab look for import settings. Select AAC as the encoder and 128kbs. then open your main iTunes window and select some music you want to convert, then look under the advanced menu and one of the options should say create AAC version. Andor if your sending music to an iphone or iPod there is anoption in the device preferences that will do the same thing.

  • Using the "Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC" feature...

I recently discovered the "Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC" feature and used it to copy my entire 70 GB music library to my 64GB iPad. The music library now occupies only 45 GB. Awesome!!!
Unfortunately, the whole process took well over 24++ hours on my quad core Windows 7 computer (takes about 6 seconds per track). Questions:
    1. Is it possible to speed up the process? Even though I am using iTunes 64-bit version, it seems that at no point is more than a single core being used at 33%. Seems to me like overall 8% of the CPU (33% / 4) capacity is being used for the conversion and 92% is being left idle. Is this just bad programming or is there anything I can do to speed up the process? Others see similar problems?
    2. Now I have already started dreading the day, I need to restore my iPad (e.g., when OS version 4 becomes available). I would hate to have to do this process all over again. Should I need to restore my iPad, is there anyway I can force iTunes to back up the 128-bit AAC versions on my computer and restore it up from there?
Any insights into both these questions will be deeply appreciated.
    Cheers,

So, I am wondering why iTunes uses only 8% of the processor power in converting the songs.
Possible reasons not to grab more of the CPU power (1) maybe the process is I/O bound due to all the writing, and is not processor limited? (2) since conversion is almost always a background program, and the user will typically have other things going on, maybe it intentionally limits CPU use?
I ran a few quick experiments (out of curiosity) and think the answer is #2. No apparent technical reason but potentially a limitation introduced by Apple's engineers to maintain a good user experience (for some people at least). I fired up 4 instances of dbpoweramp and ran multiple conversions and found that the process goes faster than what iTunes can do by an order of magnitude. With luck, someday Apple will have an option for users to select how much of processor bandwidth to be allocated for the conversion.
