Stereo Bluetooth w/ Snow Leopard and MacBook Air

I just bought a Plantronics Voyager 855 stereo bluetooth headset to use with my iPhone and I would like to use it with my MacBook Air as well. Is it compatible with the MBA 1.1 and Snow Leopard?

my jbl bluetooth stereo headphones no longer have stereo sound but now have only mono since upgrade/ download of snow leopard. they sounded really great for months prior to the upgrade to snow leopard. i have a new imac and paired and repaired the device and still only mono sound.
what gives? sort of a huge disappointment since i listen to a lot of music on youtube and internet radio. seems like a downgrade to me. if i knew this i would have never upgraded to snow leopard.

  • Install Snow Leopard on MacBook Air

Does anyone know if there are any complications upgrading to Snow Leopard on a MacBook Air via the remote disk facility?

I am installing Snow Leopard on a colleague's MacBook Air via the DVD/CD sharing and the update seems to be taking forever. When I started, the duration of the install was estimated at 41 minutes....well, 3 hours later I am looking at 39 minutes remaining...
Has anyone seen this happen and if so - what did you do? How long did it take to install?
One detail - when I first started the installation, the installer said that the MacBook Air disk/volume needed to be repaired and that SL installation was going to do that. Perhaps that added to the length of the installation?

  • Install snow leopard on macbook air with lion?

i´m trying to install snow leopard on my macbook air from a macbook with os x 10.7
there is no remote install app anymore!
    Any ideas???

What? If you have a MacBook with Lion how are you using it to install Snow Leopard (which you don't have) on a MacBook Air?
Or is your subject correct and you have purchased a MacBook Air that came with Lion and you are trying to install Snow Leopard on it?

  • Snow Leopard and Macbook Pro Battery Performance

I recently installed Snow Leopard on my 2007 Macbook Pro and now, the battery is completely shot.
It tells me that I need to service the battery and if it is not plugged into the mains, it loses power almost immediately.
Is this a common problem or am I a one off?
Really need to get this sorted.

Have you been calibrating your battery per your user manual schedule?

  • Snow Leopard and Macbook

I couldn't figure out where else to really put this but I have a question.
I'm considering buying a new Macbook aluminum with Snow Leopard pre-installed.
Back when Snow Leopard first came out I bought it while I was using Leopard. Is there anyway to be able to sell back the old Snow Leopard disc I have so I don't have 2 copies of the Snow Leopard disc?
    Thanks

The aluminum MacBooks were current in the Mac line between Oct. '08 and June '09. Are you sure that you aren't referring to the 13" MacBook Pro?
Apple will not buy back or give you credit for the $29 copy of Snow Leopard that you purchased. Actually, you have 2 different products that you are talking about. The restore disks that would come with the new MacBook are a set of 2 restore disks that that are necessary to accompany that particular machine. The retail copy that you already own is just that.. an OS disk. Not a MacBook restore disk.

  • Snow Leopard and MacBook Pros

    Hey,
O.K. I've got a brand new unibody 17" MacBook Pro. It's loaded to the hilt, and I paid a fortune for it. Unfortunately, it's a **** good-looking paperweight.
After only 51 re-cycles on the battery and several weeks of usage, I bought it in August, it's become almost completely unusable. The "service battery warning indicator" shows up all the time, it shuts down randomly at what appears to be sufficient battery life remaining, and it burns battery power like crazy while in sleep mode. This has all occurred after upgrading to Snow, ah-hum," b-l-o-w" leopard.
The big kicker is that I can't seem to downgrade to any other previous verision of OS X. The computer simply will not allow me to install an OS other than Snow Leopard now.
It is my strong belief that Apple has either acquired a large number of faulty batteries or that Snow Leopard has a major bug in it!
Since Apple will delete this post unless I ask a question, etc. etc....
I ask this: Does anyone have a solution for this? What can be done to fix the issues I mentioned here.
It is my strong belief that Apple has either a serious bug in S

If you're relying on a plainly defective battery to power your computer for much of the day nearly every day, it's certainly no wonder you're having trouble. Get the bad battery replaced, then determine whether you still have problems. You likely will, because all those unexpected hard shutdowns may have scrambled your hard drive directory for fair. Use Disk Utility's *Repair Disk* function to straighten it out as needed, calibrate your new battery properly, and then see whether your computer works as it should. Don't fool around trying to reinstall the operating system until you see what a new battery will do for you. And don't use a retail Leopard installer DVD if you do reinstall the OS: it won't support all your MBP's features. You need to find the DVD that came with the machine or use your Snow Leopard installer DVD, one or the other.

  • Downgrade Lion to snow leopard in macbook air late 2010?

Please, is there anyway to do this, lion its just too slow, and my battery drains faster in lion.
i am totally dissapointed of upgrading to lion, can someone help downgrading?
    Regards.

Sure there is an original USB stick. It came inserted in a white card with the rest of the documentation, neatly packaged in a black cover. On the card it is called Macbook Air Software Reinstall Drive and on the back of the card it is noted "This USB flash drive contains a backup copy of your Macbook Air software ... To reinstall MAC OS X ..." The stick is needed for MBAs because they don't have a DVD drive.
Erasing the disk: I meant erasing the internal SSD drive in my MBA.
iMac reinstall: I used the grey DVD that came with that machine (which does have a drive that will take it).
Apple Mail etc. I have a TimeMachine backup so I was eventually able to restore the mail AS IT WAS ON SEPT 1 when I installed Lion. However, it took many hours because the Library folder was "missing". I am a complete MAC novice so it took a while to figure it all out. My situation is that I have 2 drives in my iMac, an 250 Gb SSD and a 1 Tb normal drive. I had set up the User folder on the normal drive, but the OS on the SSD. When I upgraded to Lion this was kept, but the Library folder was hidden. After my fresh reinstall of SL on the SSD, I again moved my home folder to the normal drive, but Library still was not accessible. I tried unhiding it using "mv .Library Library" from Terminal, without success. I then renamed it to LibraryOld and copied its contents to a temp directory for easier access (you can reach this hidden folder starting from the home folder in Finder and going to Go, Go to Folder. I subsequently restored my last SL "Library" using Time Machine. That gave me my slightly old mail back. What a hassle and waste of time.
As to the MBA. Because I had messed it up so much, all I could do was reinstall Lion on it (from Apple Shop). That proved that the SSD drive was not harmed in any way. I then held the alt key when booting and tried the TimeMachine backup on the NAS (which is only reachable as part of this restore operation, not from within Lion). This worked, but I haven't played around with it yet to see if everything is back to normal.

  • Please help with how to copy CS3 from iMac (Snow Leopard) to MacBook Air (Mavericks)

I have a 2006 Mac Desktop computer with the CS3 suite on it.  I still have the discs for the suite and would like to move it over to my macbook air.  I tried to just copy the Photoshop file, but that didn't work. Is there an easy way to migrate these files from one mac to another?  My MacBook Air does not have a DVD drive. Ideally, I would like to have these files on both computers, as I believe you can have your purchased programs on 2 computers.  Anyone have a a quick and easy way to make this happen?

Never, ever migrate. CS installs are "Machine specific", you break licensing doing that.
Go here: Download CS3 products and download the installer for your suite onto your new Mac.

  • How do you easily switch Bluetooth headset between iPhone and MacBook Air

I Have a Bluetooth headset that can pair between my mac and my iPhone individually.  However I only want my phone when I'm out and when I get home, id like to click the Mac and pair the headset without having to set the Bluetooth into the "searching mode".
Wondering if anyone else is having this problem.

For this to work the Drafts Mailbox should be set to live on the server, not locally.
Check in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > [Your iCloud account] > Mail > Advanced > Drafts Mailbox

  • Snow Leopard and Macbook Pro late 2008

I'm expecting SL on friday and want to get ahead of the update game and trying to understand SL before install.
Very little info is given on SL on the official website as far as what to expect after install. My main concern is that the non-official websites claim that SL is defaulted to boot in 32 bit mode, is this correct? If this is true (which to me is weird), how do you make SL default to 64 bit boots? I just don't want to be still in 32 bits and not knowing what's going on.
Are there plugins for Safari that uses 64 bits or are we still be using a 32 bit browser?
These are my main concerns. I do have a ton of other questions, I just wish the SL Apple site was a bit more revealing. I just want to run true 64 bits as SL was designed to do.

Short answer - don't worry about it.
Long answer - there is so much mis-information out there, it's easy to get confused. What are you worried about specifically? 64-bit is mostly about addressing >4GB ram. which you currently don't have. And specifically the issue that everyone is worried about is not whether applications can run in 64-bit mode with SL (they can with the right HW) but whether the kernel boots in 64bit. If you really want to be sure, hold down 6-4 while booting SL to force the kernel to boot in 64-bits. you won't notice a difference though. 32-bit kernel has no impact on your ability to run 64-bit applications with SL.
Even if the kernel boots as a 32-bit kernel, applications running on it (like safari) can and will run as 64-bit app on SL (assuming your HW supports it - which means it must be an Intel Core2Duo chip). It's not a plug in for safari to operate this way to answer your question.

  • Reinstalling Snow Leopard on MacBook Air with SuperDrive. Won't boot up.

It won't boot up, and is stuck cycling between gray screen of death and what appears to be the "off" position.
Elsewhere, people seem to make it to the gray screen, and it freezes. My situation, however, cycles between that and the black screen of "off." It's been doing this for over six hours. This isn't normal, right?
Other people have talked about a progress bar freezing at 32% or something like that. I, however, don't even GET to a progress bar. Boo.
What can I do? Will force-powering-down be bad?

This is a Fault of the newer Mac's Power management scheme. There is a LONG Thread on it somewhere on this forum.
Hold down the power button for 10 seconds then let it up. Then wait a few seconds and press it again. The system should start back up. If it doesn't then you have some type of hardware problem and you need to take it to Apple to be fixed or replaced.

  • Am using Macbook pro mid 2010 running on OSX 10.9.5. It does not read my old Seagate back up plus ITB ext hard disk which opens and works on snow leopard. The back ups were made on snow leopard and mountain lion. How do I make it work on Mavericks?

I have been making back ups on a Seagate Back up plus drive on a macbook pro running on Mountain lion. Sadly the mac was stolen and all I had was the seagate back up. I tried opening it on my old iMac running on snow leopard and after several visits to this forum managed to open it. The data was safe and sound. Now I have received a hand me down macbook pro which runs on osx 10.9.5. I'm assuming there is a compatability issue as the drive does not come on at all when I hook it up to the usb port. I checked the seagate drive once again on the imac and its light came on on that system. Then I suspected there may be a problem with this macbook pro usb port. But it seemed to work fine when i hooked my camera cord into it. Is it that I must reinstall mavericks. In which case how do I back up before reformatting or reinstalling. BTW I did the command+ R thingy and repaired my internal Hard disc which was showing errors. What do I do next, your help is most appreciated if you have had a similar problem.

Your 2010 MBP would be able to handle Yosemite, but I would strongly suggest that you get the current problem sorted out before trying to upgrade to Yosemite. I'd also recommend another backup that isn't created by Time Machine if you are thinking of upgrading. SuperDuper and CarbonCopyCloner can make bootable clones of hard drives. If you clone your existing system to a fresh external drive, you would be able to boot from that drive and recover quickly in the event that your Yosemite upgrade didn't work out. Time Machine backups are not 100% reliable.
It's possible that, if your internal HD is the one that shipped with your MBP in 2010, it may be failing. If it keeps needing repairs, that is probably a sign that it is approaching the end of its useful life.
Have you run Disk Utility's Repair tool on the external drive as well?
I mentioned the hub because some people have reported here that attaching their USB 3 drives through a USB 2 hub solved some disconnection problems. A good-quality powered USB 2 hub won't cost much.
My most recent brush with random disconnections involved a nice new OWC drive enclosure. I used the cable that came with the drive, but the drive kept disconnecting. Using a different cable solved the problem. You wouldn't expect that what appeared to be a high quality cable would be a problem straight out of the box, but it was.
