Any way to do this? Would like to keep it as a tribute to this great man.

I was going to offer this one, which I sized at 768 x 1024 to fit the iPad screen resolution. Unfortunately, the forum automatically resizes to something like 600 x 800.
But if you find an image you like on the web, enlarge it to full screen, use the Screen Capture (Press the Home button and the On/Off button simultaneously - The screen should flash white momentarily) and use System to select the image from Camera Roll as your 'home' screen.

IPhoto 11 Faces and Dates are incorrect when synced to iPad/iPod

iPhoto 11, "Faces" and file creation dates appear to work perfectly when viewed within iPhoto 11 on my MacBook Pro. However, a few dozen Faces and creation dates appear incorrectly and out of chronological sequence when viewed on my iPad or iPod. I have rebuilt my iPhoto 11 library several times and re-synced to the iPad/iPod, but the problem persists. Anyone having the same issue or happen to know of a solution? Thanks in advance.

It was moved to the library by being imported from an NTFS external hard drive, which has now been reformatted to Mac OS Extended (Case Sensitive, Journaled), the iPhoto library was originally located on the built in SSD drive, but is now located on an external hard drive, due to capacity limitations.
I am seeing the incorrect face orientations when I view the faces in the faces view of iPhoto, when I go onto a person, some are incorrect orientation.
But when I click on the files, they are correct.

I was wondering how steve jobs gets the screen to mirror the screen of the touch (or any ipod) Can I do this? Also, How does he hide icons?

First, the Keynote was done before YouTube was announced as a feature of the iPhone, and before the iTunes WiFi store, those icons weren't hidden, they just didn't exist on the iPhone.
Second, when he first connects the iPhone during the Keynote presentation he states it is a special unit for doing those kinds of demonstrations.

Getting started with Server Faces and Data

Hello All,
I am just starting a Java Server Faces project and I am new to the technology and have a couple of questions that I can't seem to find answers to. I am developing using IBM's Rational Software Architect as my IDE and I am creating a Java Server Faces Portlet Application.
I have gone through many tutorials and am getting a good sense of navigation, beans and tags but in all of the tutorials no one has shown a working model of how to grab existing data from a data source and display it on a jsp. From what I have seen the "backing beans" for each jsp page don't seem to have an entry point so I'm a little confuse as to where you would make your call to fill up a bean that is consumed by the jsp.
For example say I have a simple page with 2 labels: one for first name and one for last name, I have created a bean called User with 2 properties (firstname, lastname) each with getters and setters created. Then I have a public method called "GetUser" that returns back an instance of this user bean with some fake data (Is this common practice? I come from a C++/C# background and normally this would be a static method or a method in a controller class somewhere but some of the tutorials I've looked at are doing it this way). Now where does my JSP call this GetUser method? and do I still create a managed bean and bind the firstname/lastname fields to the labels?
If anyone could point me in the right direction, a better tutorial or anything that would be great.

Steve Jobs book nowhere to be found

I preordered the new Steve Jobs book and today I received notification to download it. I click on the link and it says all books have already been downloaded and the book is not in my library or purchased items. Any suggestions?

Yes, two tips.
Since you didn't mention it specifically, try to Sync your iPad2 on iTunes. That transfers your purchases to folders on your computer. If it is already on your iTunes Books or Purchased area, uncheck it ("in Sync Books"), Sync your iPad without it, and then re-add it back to your iPad. See if it opens then.
The other tip is to call Apple iPad support (as they ridiculously do not have an iTunes rep to help out on the phone). They will solve this for you, in case all other tips fail. They've had to help me out in the past by deleting Purchased items from my download queue, before the days of iCloud.

Hi! My name is Tom from San Diego, CA. I have the exact same question as you. That is, I would like to be able to print out a photo from iphoto with the date that picture was taken displayed on the face of it. In this way, someone looking at that picture in a photo album years later would know when it was taken. Did you ever find a method to print copies of photos out of iphoto with the date displayed on the print? Thanks for your help!

ok so the download problem with my iphone.. what could be the cause of that? ive restarted and deleted the "undownloaded app" over 10 times already. and restarted the iphone 10 times... next thing i know i cant install itunes on my laptop.... geez man..
obviously there is a fix which someone will help... but why should i have to go through all that crap to install a so called uncomplicated software... when you think about it this really shouldnt even be an issue.
normally if the thing dosent work. normally with most programs you just uninstall the uncompleted software and just reinstall and everything is usually good to go.. help!

A major black eye for Apple and Steve Jobs - an update on activation issues

I am at 30 hours and still waiting for activation!
I have spent over 7 hours on the phone between yesterday and today trying to get my phone activated. I have been talking to AT&T and Apple and I have wasted my day on hold. No one seems to know what the issue is and everyone keeps telling my they are sorry. I am a current AT&T customer and they deactivated my old phone immediately.
I was on the phone with Apple earlier today for over an hour and the rep had to work with AT&T and still could not correct my activation. She "promised" to call back before 7pm PDT to see if my issue was resolved and I should have known better since of course no call was received. I really was not expecting the call but it should never have been offered.
Throughout my numerous calls I was informed that this was becoming a major issue for AT&T and Apple as the day was progressing and that they had numerous people working on the problem.
Where has Apple and AT&t been in all this? Steve Jobs has been promoting the heck out of his product and now he is no where to be found. No statements addressing the issues on either of their web sites. During my last conversation with AT&T, the rep informed me that at 10:36 CDT she received an update from Apple saying that they are trying to resolve the issues and that it may take 24-48 more hours to resolve. The AT&T rep also informed me that they it AT&T was informed by Apple that the issues with activation are coming from the Apple side.
I know that this is a new product and glitches will happen. But Apple created the hype and they should have been prepared.
In the meantime, I will be charged an activation fee even though I cannot activate and I have wasted my weekend with Apple.
I have a feeling this will become a bigger story on Monday when more stories get out to the press and Mr. Jobs returns from celebrating his "succesful" launch. This is a very frustrating experience and this will probably be my last Apple purchase (I own numerous Apple items).

Sorry to hear about all your issues. I am about in the same boat. But, I think mines kinda worse..
Got my phone last night, got the typical Your activation requires additional time. Spoke with an AT&T rep about 4pm this afternoon. He said he would push the activation and give it up to 2 hours more.. Great! 5 hours later and nothing. So I call the 877 number, option 3 to check activation status.... Your phone is activated and you should be able to use all features.. WHAT?! I look at my phone.. I still have a globe telling me to activate iphone, connect to iTunes.. Im 45 mins on hold waiting for a rep again and im more mad then it would have been if it said it was still processing! I understand glitches, and I expected a few issues, but nothing like this..
And as i am typing i just got a customer service agent...
They've done everything they can and i need to wait, since it hasn't been 24 hours yet.. ok, now *** is that?! Im just laughing at how absurd that call was. The customer service rep didn't even understand that i was still at the activate screen, she was asking if i had a dial tone? and if i could get into mail or ipod at the bottom.. oh my.. I really hope I dont have to call AT&T support again for my life with this phone, cause its not starting out good..

Steve Jobs and his magical powers!

I have found two things I can't do in iWeb but Steve Jobs can...
1) When I drag a photo album onto the page iWeb asks if i want to place all the photos in that album. If you click 'no' it doesnt do anything, if you click 'yes' it sprays your site with all the pics in that album.
When Steve did it in the macworld webcast the album turned into a button (without an alert) which when activated starts a slideshow of all the pics in that album.
Why doesnt mine do that?
2) When I 'manually' create a slideshow and go to view it, instead of the slick looking black background with reflections etc that Steve Jobs gets, I get a crappy 'Quicktime 5' lookalike window thats about as appealing as treating sunburn with a dose of sandblasting. Whats going on?

The behaviour you describe doesn't apply when you drag to a Photo page, which is probably what Steve was demonstrating. These have a Start Slideshow button already on the page. When you drag your photo album to the placeholder area your images are laid out in a grid of thumbnails and you can edit the captions and change the style of the thumbnail frames.
As said by the other poster, you only get the black background and reflection and transparent controls when you publish to .Mac, but there are options available for overriding the HomePage-style slideshow which iWeb defaults to when published to a local folder, as explained in this topic:

I watched Steve Jobs keynote speech with interest and envy.
How is it possible to get the video quality so good combined with so fast download - even on a relatively slow bandwidth I could more or less instantaneously scroll to the end?
I run a local net based TV station in Denmark http://www.tv-moen.dk and would love to supply that quality and speed. Can anyone help, please?

Presumably they are Flash videos?

Yes, whenever you cannot find something you want at the iBookstore, you simply need to try the other free ereader apps like Kindle, Nook, Kobo, and Googlebooks and see if one of them has it.

SM37 - "pause" V3-update job while importing data source and extract struct

Hi
Insted of deleting an hourly schedulated V3-update job and the recreating it (after a import of a extract structure and a data source) I came to think about whether it is possible to, kind of, pause the job that I otherwise would delete and recreate.
Is this possible some how?
My thought:
1. Find the job in released status.
2. Select the job and change it (top menu Job-->change)
3. Change the scheduling to some day in the future
4. Change job status from released to scheduled
5. Import the extract structure and data source.
6. Change the schedule job back to hourly run.
7. Now the job should run on hourly basis again....
By the way: what do I import first, the data source or the extract structure?
