Steve Jobs Needs to retake statistics

You can predict this. This has happend before so why not put counter measures in? All you have to do is take all of the current accounts with ATT then figure out the percentage of people that will probibly update with there past update download statistics then figure out how many new I phone G3's you have out there and compare that with the consumer research they did with there whole marketing campain before the release. Sounds complicated but easy. At the moment my phone is just a brick due to apples neglegence. Im a Vol. EMT on the side of my real job and I cannot get intouch with dispatch when my radio goes into a dead area and that happens 1/3 of the time. Also I canot get intouch with clints for the firm I work for. Thanks Steve Jobs!

This occurs to me... Who really cares who's fault this is, my iphone is currently a brick and I would like it fixed - NOW! What is completely ironic is that by enabling exchanges services on the phone Apple is trying to attract more commercial customers e.g. businesses... But do they really think setting the standard for this kind of unreliability helps????
p.s. Bill Gates probably sold jobs the server that crashed

  • Steve Jobs needs to apologize

Will Steve Jobs apologize and admit to being wrong when he said the reception is a non issue?

Gripping any phone will result in some attenuation of its antenna performance, with certain places being worse than others depending on the placement of the antennas. This is a fact of life for every wireless phone. If you ever experience this on your iPhone 4, avoid gripping it in the lower left corner in a way that covers both sides of the black strip in the metal band, or simply use one of many available cases.
Notice. AVOID GRIPPING IN THE LOWER LEFT
This was Apple's official statement unless I was told incorrectly.
Last I checked, wasn't the big thing with the iPad "there is no wrong way to hold it"?
Why did I sell my 3GS!

  • Where's Steve Jobs when I need him?

Isn't it odd / ironic that the very issue that the early Steve Jobs hung his reputation on -- i.e. fan noise in the the original Mac -- should make such a noted come-back now?!? Although there are no less than 3 fans in my Mac Pro, plus one small one on each video card... mostly, mostly the 5 assorted fans have operated the last 2+ years quiet as a church mouse.
But why does the Mac Pro (my early 2009, in this case) suddently decide to run one of the fans at HIGH speed constantly? And more importantly what can I do about it?
About a year ago, the machine took on this behaviour and I reset the SMC under guidance from this discussion group. The fan problem was resolved.
Repeating the SMC-reset process now results in a temporary cessation of the high-speed fan behaviour, but within 5-10 minutes after re-booting the fan noise resumes. Once begun, the fan runs at high speed exclusively and constantly.
Anybody out there know how to resolve this? Someone channelling my man Steve? You KNOW how we HATE that constant droning sound!!
    Thanks in advance.

Are you referring to the Dock?
If it is the Dock that is bothering you, type: command, option, D (all three keys together). That will bring the Dock on the screen permanently.
I do not know how to remove it permanently.

  • OPEN LETTER TO STEVE JOBS

I'm not a developper, I'm not an English speaking guy (so sorry for my english) and this is an off topic message but I need to say something....
I have just read abut Steve Job's resignation and I think Apple would never be the same without him. I've read a lot of about Steve and I know he was involved in every little step of every apple product (from the initial design to the final product)
Did you know, for instance, that the Iphone has got just one button thanks to Jobs obstination to simplicity?. Nobody thougt it could be possible but him. He has the ability to transmit his energy and faith to everyone in the company to make his ideas possible.
I'm a mac user  7 years ago, not much, I know, but it is time enough to have my own oppinion about apple and what Jobs represents to the Company.
Mr. Jobs...thanks for my Iphone 4, its simplicity and efficiency that everybody wants to copy from, for my Imac Intel based , for my Lion OS in which I work on what I need without wasting my time in fixing OS problems, for my Ipod and above all...for make me feel I'm in touch with the future every time I use anything from apple.
I hope you'll be in the heart of apple for many many years (even not from you CEO position) ank keep all of us dreaming of the future everytime we see a "bitten apple".
    Regards,
    C. Llerandi

*1. All Customers should be treated Equal.*
From the ones who purchased the iPhone on Day 1 to the ones who bought an iPhone yesterday. There should be no difference or discrimination on timeline.
Nor should be any difference based on the whims of store personnel. Yesterday some customers got $200 refunds even if they were outside of the 14 day window.
Having set this precedent Apple should follow it for all customers

  • ITunes Truncate Track Ending, Unsolved in 2+ Years: My Letter to Steve Jobs

I have posted this problem twice in this forum. Twice they were answered with something totally irrelevant, and then marked "Solved" and deleted.
Finally, I am going to mail the CD, and this letter to Steve Jobs, to let him know personally the bug, after so many years of iTunes, and the bullish way his stuff has been treating my questions.
    Dear Steve,
My name is Leping, Ph.D. in Physics, working in the San Francisco Bay area as a senior medical imaging scientist. I am a long time and loyal Mac user and promoter -- actually I have not yet really needed to use a PC in my life (except for serious music ripping -- see below), and in the graduate school days our five+ million dollar NMR lab was run from a Mac.
Unfortunately, I am also an avid classical music enthusiasts, and part time musician. Needless to say I am now with my 6th iPod, and I believe I understand all the bells and whistles of iTunes. I am not talking about the higher-level bit-wise accurate CD ripping, that is only available on the PCs, through the EAC software, since also, as a well-regarded and published photographer, I know when is the time to use the pro level applications, such as Adobe Photoshop instead of iPhoto. For my photography works please check out my website at http://www.lepingzha.com -- I will be more than glad if you and/or Apple have use of any of my images.
However, I know a long time iTunes bug, that have never been addressed. Actually I posted it twice to the Apple web discussion forums, but was twice offered irrelevant answers, followed by the subject flagged as "Solved", and subsequently deleted.
Please open the still sealed compact disc in this letter, which I got in a retailer just to show you the problem. The title, Deustsche Grammaphon (DG) B0003902, is "Lang Lang plays Rachmaninov Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 2 and Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini". It happens I am a Chinese American, but I want you to listen a bit into the disc not because I am a fan of Mr. Lang's playing -- as a matter of fact I actually not, but for the much more serious reason.
Please rip the Rhapsody in iTunes, to any format (AAC, Apple Lossless (ALAC), WAV, MP3...) starting from track number 4. A few tracks after that point would be adequate -- these are very short (10-30 seconds) tracks that truly highlight the problem. Listen to the resulting music, and the original CD, you will immediately hear the big problem, start right at the end of track 4 and at the end of every of these short tracks -- fraction of the ending second(s) are harshly chopped off, brutally truncated, and uncover-ably lost.
The same thing happens anywhere I use the Apple codecs, for example, converting the EAC (bit-wise correctly, as confirmed by its check-sum feature against the known sum database) ripped WAV files to ALAC or AAC, for instance, either on a Mac or a PC. The very same thing just happen, while there is no problem to any other non-Apple codecs (mainly to flavours of MP3 -- since Apple has the AAC and ALCA codec nobody bothered to write their own, I guess). So for our serious classical listeners, the iTunes and the Apple codecs are very problematic if not useless in many cases (operas immediately in my mind)!
Please alse not that, over the time the same problem has always been reported here, there, and basically everywhere, but every time there are gurus made comments which does not solve the issue. The followings are some recent examples.

    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6513266&#6513266
I hope you, my much respected and praised Steve, realize, that, how could, and mostly unthinkable, after so many great years, there can be still such very basic and serious issue the iTunes codecs can not handle in the right way? Does the track length information get truncated somewhere (or floored to an integer)? Why it is so difficult to acknowledge such a basic issue, and to have it fixed in the next release?
Thanks for your time and hope you enjoy the music.
Look forward to hearing from you soon.
    Best regards,
    Leping Zha, Ph.D.
    San Mateo, California, U.S.A.

Finally found the reason: in the track's option field for some reason the "stop time" flag is checked and the timing is always about a second earlier than the actual track length.
Searched Doug's scripts and there is nothing to batch reset, or unflag the "stop time" tag. Anyone has a better idea rather than trying to deselect the tag track by track?
Once the "stop time" is unset the converted tracks will play through without truncations at the end.

  • Color Picture of Steve Jobs that I would like to send to Apple for use in his honor. I prefer Color

I would like to send Apple a Color Picture of Steve Jobs that I found on Google. it's the same picture Steve Jobs Biography that
Walter Isaacson wrote. except it's in color. What I did was use my Drawing Pad Program to bring in the picture and then I brought in a splash I croped with Steve Jobs 1955-2011 and saved it. I want you all at Apple to have a copy to use for his memormial eash year. And Thank you Tim Cook and everyone at Apple for honoring Steve's values in keeping Apple products the great products that they are and will remain. Siri is such a riot. I have so much with her. I was able to use Best Buy's Trade-in Program and I traded my iPad 2 in for the new iPad 3rd Generation. I am one that needs Siri to help me spell some words when I get brain lock. lol. .  She is also fun to play with. I asked her to tell me a joke, she came back with, " Two iPhones walk in a bar, I forget the rest. LOL. you all have an ad with this joke. I haven't asked her any questions on sports yet. I like figure skating in the winter olympics beacause it's so graceful.
    Very Sincerely,
    Janet Woodville

  • A major black eye for Apple and Steve Jobs - an update on activation issues

I am at 30 hours and still waiting for activation!
I have spent over 7 hours on the phone between yesterday and today trying to get my phone activated. I have been talking to AT&T and Apple and I have wasted my day on hold. No one seems to know what the issue is and everyone keeps telling my they are sorry. I am a current AT&T customer and they deactivated my old phone immediately.
I was on the phone with Apple earlier today for over an hour and the rep had to work with AT&T and still could not correct my activation. She "promised" to call back before 7pm PDT to see if my issue was resolved and I should have known better since of course no call was received. I really was not expecting the call but it should never have been offered.
Throughout my numerous calls I was informed that this was becoming a major issue for AT&T and Apple as the day was progressing and that they had numerous people working on the problem.
Where has Apple and AT&t been in all this? Steve Jobs has been promoting the heck out of his product and now he is no where to be found. No statements addressing the issues on either of their web sites. During my last conversation with AT&T, the rep informed me that at 10:36 CDT she received an update from Apple saying that they are trying to resolve the issues and that it may take 24-48 more hours to resolve. The AT&T rep also informed me that they it AT&T was informed by Apple that the issues with activation are coming from the Apple side.
I know that this is a new product and glitches will happen. But Apple created the hype and they should have been prepared.
In the meantime, I will be charged an activation fee even though I cannot activate and I have wasted my weekend with Apple.
I have a feeling this will become a bigger story on Monday when more stories get out to the press and Mr. Jobs returns from celebrating his "succesful" launch. This is a very frustrating experience and this will probably be my last Apple purchase (I own numerous Apple items).
    Good luck to everyone else.
    I h

Sorry to hear about all your issues. I am about in the same boat. But, I think mines kinda worse..
Got my phone last night, got the typical Your activation requires additional time. Spoke with an AT&T rep about 4pm this afternoon. He said he would push the activation and give it up to 2 hours more.. Great! 5 hours later and nothing. So I call the 877 number, option 3 to check activation status.... Your phone is activated and you should be able to use all features.. WHAT?! I look at my phone.. I still have a globe telling me to activate iphone, connect to iTunes.. Im 45 mins on hold waiting for a rep again and im more mad then it would have been if it said it was still processing! I understand glitches, and I expected a few issues, but nothing like this..
And as i am typing i just got a customer service agent...
They've done everything they can and i need to wait, since it hasn't been 24 hours yet.. ok, now *** is that?! Im just laughing at how absurd that call was. The customer service rep didn't even understand that i was still at the activate screen, she was asking if i had a dial tone? and if i could get into mail or ipod at the bottom.. oh my.. I really hope I dont have to call AT&T support again for my life with this phone, cause its not starting out good..
Best to all.. lets hope this gets resolved soon!!

  • R.I.P Steve jobs a creative genius who left his mark on the world.....

So sad to hear the news about steve jobs my thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time, he changed how think about our devices about not just needing them but wanting them. R.I.P.

The way Steve and Apple Computer touched so many lives in so many positive ways is profound beyond words.  It is indeed a sad loss for us all, but more so for his family and friends and associates.  I too, thank him for enriching my life and opening me up to devices that have brought pleasure and freedom to my personal world.

Yes, whenever you cannot find something you want at the iBookstore, you simply need to try the other free ereader apps like Kindle, Nook, Kobo, and Googlebooks and see if one of them has it.

  • The Mac App Store - changing the philosophy of Steve Jobs

I've just finished Steve Jobs autobiography. I started thinking about Steve Jobs and the intentional philosophy of making sure the hardware worked well with the software to make a "few core products." The MAC App store is a sellout moving away from this truth. Perhaps Apple one day will realize that moving away from "the top five products" to supporting zillions of software apps is a huge error. It is a sellout to make more and more profits. While this may work in the short-term, I would much rather see Apple focus on a few good third-party software products. Perhaps something like a brand certification such as "Apple certified software" to be only awarded to the very best in the App store. It may be a good idea to have an SDK that is required to meet this very high standard. While I know Apple does filter the titles in their app store, it does not offer the true legacy of what Steve Jobs stood for, making the software and hardware work as team to make "great products." "People at Apple were charged to make great products and not great profits," sometimes surprising the public with what they didn't realize they needed. The App store is not built to support the high standard that is Apple. I hope this will change one day.

  • Adobe:  Show Steve Jobs who's boss.

    Adobe,
You, like many of us must be angry at Apple right now after the recent ban on 3rd party (flash) created i-phoine apps just days before the public unveiling of your new Creative Suite.  I could only image the number of man hours put in by your flash team to get the i-phone app compiler into CS5.
I do not like Steve Jobs anymore.  His open arogence and passive agressive maliciousness are beyond acceptable.
Would it be too much to ask if every application in CS5 could be released only for PC?  Sure, most people who use CS would have to buy a new computer, but it wouldn't be a mac, so it would be pretty cheap.  As a PC and Mac and Adobe user I can say there is no reason what-so-ever for Macs to be the standard for adobe products anymore.  Processor speeds, graphics cards and memory are all so high now that it just doesn't matter if you are using a mac or PC.
I know this may hurt your sales at first, but don't worry, it'll be ok.  Adobe products are the industry standard for all forms of multimedia development and the alternatives are either non-existent or crude and lacking.  You own the market.  Your customers will switch to PC if that is what you dictate.  They will have no choice; Their livelihoods/jobs all depend on your products.  In the end Apple will lose allot more money then you, which is all that matters to me anymore.  Someone needs to bring Steve Jobs down a notch and you have the power to do it.

The problem with Adobe Products is that most people use them without adequate training. A little study of various manuals, seminars and online tutorials can make one good and be able to solve those small glitches.
I don't have any problem with the CS3 as the integration is unique and unequalled by any other company. The shortcomings are the Non Realtime playback in PPro. but it renders very fast and also not accepting Inscriber CG and Title Deko like 6.5 but Photoshop, Fireworks and Afterfx are there.
Imagine this guy saying of the so called University removing Adobe Products
"Most people can not even install the latest software because of the changes to adobes install programs."
The Adobe installtion is still the same and I think the guy can not read or is new to Computers. Read the manuals Please

  • Re, "Podcasts about Podcasting" area on itunes and thank you, Steve Jobs.

    Hi,
I've just started my About.com Guide to Podcasting and was hoping to eventually be listed in this prestigious list of folks. Knowing that I'm a total "newbie," wondering if any of the iTunes folks/fellow podcasters have any advice about getting listed in this area?
I also searched through the Technology Podcasts (as well as the podcasters on podcasting page) and couldn't find my show listed. Is this just because it's so young? I've heard you need to have four to five shows up before you're considered more than a flash in the pan.
Tangent: In this first episode (at the end) I talk about how watching Steve Jobs present at last year's Apple conference (talking about latest iLife suite) transformed my adult life (obviously for the better!) Didn't know if anyone at Apple (PR folks, etc.) would be interested in hearing it, but I'd love their feedback. I'll have the podcast listed on the about.com site (front page of the podcasting channel) so I hope to have lots of listeners/subscribers.
Thanks for the advice and best regards to all,
    John C. Havens

    Hi S,
Thanks very much for your help. I'll keep on podding.
Tangent: Do you have any MAC mail experts over there? For my about.com emails, people have said the "reply to" button says, "[email protected]" instead of "com" at the end. about says it's not on their end, and I've done the preferences/account checking thing multiple times. Any thoughts? If you could respond to: [email protected] that would be great because you might be able to see what's happening.
Or here. Not sure what the protocol is, so thanks.

  • HT3951 I downloaded Steve jobs biography. He would turn in his grave

    Hi.
I downloaded Steve jobs biography but I'm unable to play part 2 or 3. I go to purchases but there is no option to redownload. When I go to iTunes confirmation email and click purchase history or report a problem it says "unable to connect to iTunes" although I'm already on iTunes and logged in fine... I then deleted part 1 hoping that then it would allow me to download all 3 parts. This is not the case.... When I go to the iTunes Store the book won't give me the option to redownload, it just says 'downloaded'. Can anyone advise? Quite ironic based on the story of Steve jobs vision....

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Youd need to delete the original before you can redownload it.

  • Steve Jobs

    Hi All,
I know that this may not be the right place to talk about the passing of Steve Jobs, but i wanted to express my condolences to his family, friends and co-workers.  He was a genius in his own right!
I have to admit, i never really liked Apple products until i purchased the iPhone 4 last year and then followed by the iPad 1 3G and love the gadgets like anything, to be honest, it is as if they are glued to my hand!!
So, what are your thoughts and experiences with Steve Jobs and Apple products?
    God bless Steve x
    CG Over An Out

    Hi CG,
On a personal note I'd have to agree with you. A true icon of the 21st century.
    Cheers
