Stickies not opening!

Hi everyone,
I cannot get my stickies program to open! It will try to open (I can see it bounce around on my dock) and then it disappears after a few moments. I've already tried deleting the com.apple.stickies.plist file to see if that would help (as suggested by someone) but no luck.
I'm running 10.3.9 on an iBook G4.
Any help would be great; as a student I use this program all the time and me lacking it is a major uh oh.

I have the same problem. In the Finder it says it has opened but it cannot be seen. I have not used Stickies in awhile - I use Soho Notes - but I wanted to use notes on my new Blackberry and tried to import my Soho notes into Stickies because the Pocket Mac app works with Stickies. It worked - not well, but it was a start but when I tried to sync again I had this prob with Stickies.
No way I can see it. Tried trashing prefs, made sure Stickies was not in Dashboard etc etc.

  • Why  cannot I get stickies  to open or work?

    1. I am new to Apple - Iwould like to get Stickies to open AND work!

Could you describe your issue in bit more detail?
Would do you mean by "work"? Are Stickies not opening for you? Are you getting error messages? Is the icon staying on the Dock?

  • I opened up a kingston memory stick last week on my computer and it worked fine.  This the memory stick will not open in my computer.  How do I find the memory stick if the icon does not come up on my desktop screen?

I cannot seem to open back up my memory stick.  I dragged the "icon" to the trash bucket before I pulled the stick out.  The memory stick icon no longer shows up on my computer.  It also will not open on any other computer.  Is there anyway to find the memory stick when its plugged in with out having the icon show up?

You might try the obvious, although I have seen memory sticks fail.  Good luck.
    1)Remove the memory stick
    2) Shut the computer down
    3) Restart the computer
    4) Login
    5) Re-insert the memory stick

  • Memory stick contents only briefly display and will not open

    Model: Laptop C660D-102
Purchase date: 07/11/2010 - used very little and on very rare occasions, so virtually unused.
Problem: When a memory stick is inserted into either of two usb ports it will not open up on request, although I can see it listed in "Devices with Removable Storage" where it appears very briefly at regular intervals of about 10 seconds. The only occasions when It is available to open is when the laptop is initially switched on but even in this instance it reverts to its regular disappearing act after about 5 minutes.
Is anyone familiar with this scenario.
    Regards

Is this with multiple USB sticks, or are you only checking one? Likewise, does it work on other machines?
Also, is that a model from the UK? You might try checking their support page.

  • Photoshop will not open/create new files, cannot resize images etc

    Hi to all.
So I'll start with the basics; I am using Photoshop 7 (And yes, I am using it for a specific reason, I'm not interested in migrating to this new $1000 Creative Cloud rubbish), us Australians are getting ripped a new one and I'm happy with the $50 I paid for my copy years ago. (Please do not tell me the answer to my problems is to simply upgrade and go bankrupt. Again, I've been using 7 for a very long time without issue).
I've been using 7 for almost a decade without issue. I stick with it because so far, it's done everything I need, has been reliable up to this point, and my plugins do not work properly with newer versions. I'm also running an older-spec system (Windows XP, 3gb ram etc) as I do a lot of work with older game engines, Source Engine etc.
The issue I'm having doesn't appear to be Photoshop-7 specific however, there are many threads on this that have gone unanswered, and happen in CS3 etc and modern copies as well. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it to no avail. Basically, I cannot open files reliably with it.
If I right click any image file in explorer and click "open with -> Photoshop", photoshop will launch, however it does not open the file. I double checked to ensure the file was not just opening offscreen, however it is definitely not opening at all (as the "close" option does not become available).
If I launch photoshop manually, and click file -> open -> It will open that file, HOWEVER it will not open any more files after that.
It also is very very fickle with simple commands, such as if I hit CTRL + T to go into transform mode and then try to rescale an image, I have to click and drag the corners at least 5-6 times before it will recognize that I am doing so, and it will also ignore the resize that I perform and snap back to normal. Sometimes I have to click things more than once to get them to register. This is not occurring with any other piece of software etc, so I've ruled out that it's an issue with my mouse.
This has only been happening a day, and I cannot think of any particular system changes likely to result in this (ie no abnormal plugins installed recently, no major hardware or software changes). Unless my keyboard has a stuck key or something strange, I'm absolutely at a loss
Is there anyone who can help me, or has heard of this issue?

    I am an idiot.
I guess the scratch disk was full or something else. A simple reboot appears to have solved the problem. (I often have my system running for up to 48-64 hours at a time without reboots) as my workdays are around 36 hours at a time, so it could just be a memory constraint from XP.
Hopefully this solves the issue for anyone else who encounters it. Reboot your pc once in a while, give it a clean slate of memory to work with.

  • Black screen after login. Windows 8 is not opening

After login,  I only have a black screen with a cursor.
Windows 8 does not open. Cannot get to "System Restore" or Control Panel.
HP hardware self- diagnostic tests were negative & didn't help.
Please offer possible solutions for recovery.

Then that does not pertain to your problem.
On Kaspersky Rescue Disk on another computer download and burn to USB stick or DVD to run a full scan on your computer.

  • I can not open a filled out pdf-form using Adobe Acrobat Pro X

I have a form in Indesign CS 5.5 and made it fillable with Adobe Acrobat Pro X. I enabled the 'additional features' to make the document a 'Reader extended pdf'. Whoever I send the form now, can fill it out and save it in (the free version of) Adobe Reader.
Problem is: when the recipients mail the filled out form back to me, I can not open the document. There is message that says: "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired."
However, when I receive the filled-out file not by email (MS Outlook on a IMac) but on a USB-stick or something, I can manage to open the document the way it was filled out.
I'm guessing something goes wrong in the mailing process...
    Can anyone help me please?
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the advice!
I'm afraid though that the problem is situated with the provider of the sender (when I open the email with my hotmail or gmail-account, it' s the same problem).
The idea of compressing the forms into zip-files is not very usefull because - i'm guessing - 90% of the recipients have never heard about a zip-file and are surely incapable of making one.
    Some other ideas?
    Thank you though!

  • When I Open Iphoto it tells me that it can not open current photo library using this version of iphoto.  Any help on what I can do to fix this without loosing all my previous photos?

For some reason I tried to open Iphoto and it keeps giving me an error message that It can not open my current photo library.
It says "You can't open your current photo library using this version of Iphoto.
You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of Iphoto. Do you want to quit and use the latest version of Iphoto, or do you want
to create a new photo library?"
I tried updating the software and didn't do nothing for me.
Anyone have a solution to this problem, I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks.

Ok, here is what I would do for that situation. I would back up all your photos on a memory stick, then create a new photo library and re-upload all the photos to the new library. If iphoto wont let you even copy your photos, you should just schedule an appointment at the genius bar. This has never happened to me, but if it did this is what I would be attempting.

I have a 1st generation MacBook Pro and I recently downloaded OS X Maverick.  My iTunes will not open because it says i need a 64 bit version.  Already followed the promted instructions but no luck.  Any suggestions??

Oh, you do have the C2D! That's great!
I'm no technical expert, I just like to help out whenever or wherever I can so... I don't know if this can help you, but let me tell you about how I got my Snow Leopard to run in 64 bit mode. When I got my (late 2008) iMac it was running in 32 bit mode under Tiger (2.4 GHz/Core 2 Duo). I eventually upgraded to Snow Leopard & it was running in 32 bit mode (by default) w/1 GB RAM.
Somewhere along the line, I happened to watch a YouTube Video that showed how to upgrade an iMac's RAM, so I ordered two - 2GB sticks of Crucial RAM and then - under the guidance of the 14 or 15 year-old young man who posted the video on YouTube; wearing a rather fashionable static-electricity-neutralizer-wrist-strap, I removed 1GB of RAM & plugged in the 4GBs of RAM. So - boom like that, it was like I bought a brand new machine.
It was over a year later when I stumbled across a way to boot Snow Leopard into 64 bit mode. Turns out that if you boot while holding down the 6 & 4 key combo (the ones above the QWERTY keys), then the machine runs in 64 bit mode. Go figure. Now my Snow Leopard and just about all of my applications - with the ironic exception of iTunes - runs in 64 bit. iTunes seems fine though; if there's a performance bottleneck, I really can't tell.
    Well, that's about it..
I hope that something I've mentioned can help you achieve your overall goal.
Finally, it's hard to jump onto a train, a large cat, or a surfboard that's already moving. But don't be surprised when someone a fraction of your age shows you how to.
    Best Regards,
    mm~

  • Itunes will not open --windows 7 64bit

ok so, itunes refuses to open. i went to the support page and did EVERYTHING it says to do. update drivers, disable virus protection, add a new user, try safe mode, etc etc. STILL WILL NOT OPEN. uninstalled everything, reinstalled everything about 5 times... nothing. can someone please help me fix this?

Yeah I tried that as well, the other download that actually says "iTunes 64-Bit installer." Thats a load of crap. Doesn't do anything different than the other installer. Like I said in a couple of my posts, I think the problem is that iTunes is a 32 Bit program and my version of windows on this computer is 64 bit. Doesnt work properly. I was actually on vacation and left it running for about an hour and I saw that iTunes was opened. I went to do things within iTunes and it crashed no more than 5 seconds into it. iTunes runs perfectly fine on my windows 7 32bit computer but on this windows 7 64 bit, nothing but problems. Can't play videos, can't play a song, can't even edit options. And everything on their website they say to do does nothing. Especially to disable all of my startup programs, makes a lot of my programs run very poorly or not at all and I'm not going through all of that trouble for iTunes. I just wanted to be able to update my iPod while i was on vacation, but unfortunately I cant. I'll stick to running it on my other computer because obviously no one from apple has a solution to this problem and obviously I am not the only one having it.

  • Can not open pdfs w/adobe reader for android on archos 10i tablet?

I can not open pdfs w/adobe reader for android on archos 10i tablet? How to fix it?

Hi Dennis, thank you for the reply. I have Adobe Reader installed and open. When I click on the pdf documents an error message box opens and says "Error. The document cannot be opened beacause it is not a valid pdf document". Perhaps the pdf's on the USB memory stick are corrupted. I can't open them on the laptop either. I'll reload them and try again.

  • When I try to download Firefox 5.0 (I have 4.0) I get the box that indicates that Acrobat could not open 'Firefox 5.0.dmg' . Mac OS10.6.7 Help!

I keep getting the Software Update for Firefox 5.0. I try to update after viewing the informatiion choosing English and MacOS X. It downloads and then I get the message: "Acrobat could not open ‘Firefox 5.0.dmg’ because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been corrupted (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn’t correctly decoded)."
I would be most grateful for any help; I am 78 and trying but not succeeding. Ah, the scourge of age.

Sorry, Firefox 4.0.1 isn't supported any longer, that's why you are getting re-directed. Firefox 5.0 is a security update for 4.0.1; Firefox 4.0 didn't get that update, but Firefox 3.6.18 did. Best to stick with 3.6.18 until whatever you are using for those logins is updated for Firefox 5.0.

  • I just used stickie notes on my desktop Mac and I don't know where it went or how I can find it.

I just used stickie notes on my desktop Mac and don't know where it went or how I can find it.

Assuming you are using a relatively recent version of OS X, click the folder Applications in the Dock, then look in the window that opens for an item named Stickies. Click it. Your stickie note should then be available.

  • LR2.2 will not open catalogue after upgrade

I have been using LR2.2 (OS X - latest, on Unibody MacBook 2.4Ghz) for a few weeks, and found it an improvement. I have put my 1000 Christmas photos on it for the moment, in a temporary catalogue.
I have just tried to open my old LR1.4.1 catalogue, containing about 30,000 images. It appeared to upgrade the catalogue OK, but failed to do a backup (quoting disc space or permissions as possible causes, both of which are untrue as far as I can see). Then it said it could not open because of a problem switching modules.
I have deleted it and tried again a second time, allowing LR2 to create its own new folder for the new cat, but it still doesn't like it.
For a x.2 release, I am rather unimpressed. If I cannot open my old catalogue with all its keywords and collections, there is no point in upgrading to LR2.
Any solutions, or do I just save money and stick with what I have?
    best
    Nic

I can't be expressing myself very well. LR is completely unable to do anything. It has not frozen: I still have File-Edit-Window-Help menus which pull down immediately. Mouse-rollover of the modules make them change colour, and the double monitor panel actually sort of works.
But apart from that I can't get any response. (Note I have been using LR2.2 with a new catalogue for a few weeks, and have used LR1 from the start, so I know how to use the software, broadly speaking.)
Tab does nothing. And there is no way of getting further than the screen shots I just posted.
I will look into deleting the plist file.

  • Stickie Notes - a way to add a top label?

In stickie notes, is there a way to add a header label to a note (in the top darker yellow area?
Also, is there a way to create different groups of notes. Example: a group called GROCERY LIST, then maybe a group called MAC HELP ME NOTES, and maybe a group FRIENDS EMAIL ADDRESSES ???
Then in stickies you could open the group you need to view notes in, like the GROCERY LIST NOTES and save the group separate from the other groups. Kind of like having a do it yourself rolodex card database. One group for this subject, and another group for another subject. Maintain several "groups" of specific notes or subjects.
If this is not possible, it should be an added feature for stickie notes app.

No. The parental settings only apply to purchasing and not playback and the parental advisory labels cannot be added on specific content.
