Stickies Problem

Hi,
I've been trying to create a new sticky note with the Stickies app, but for some reason the app will not allow me to display more stickies other than the two I have on my desktop. Every time I click New Note, nothing happens. I can see the window for a new sticky note under the Window tab, however, nothing appears on my screen.
Please help!

You could weed through the TextEdit files (as it will open the StickiesDatabase but unfortunately contain lots of other content) ...better yet download Pacifist and use it to extract the Stickies App from your Install DVD. It'll be under "Contents of Esentials.pkg". If you extract it to your Desktop then simply place it your Applications Folder for business as usual.

  • Mac Pro DVD drive door sticking problems...

    Hi all...
    The aluminum drive door on one of my Mac Pro's 2 DVD drives sticks in the open ("down") position about 9 times out of 10 when in use. It has done this since I received it from Apple. Not a functional issue at all, so I didn't even think about sending it back at the time of arrival, thinking it might be just a bit stiff and "new"...
    Now, over time, it has begun to get more annoying. I have tried everything in order to get it to work, sometimes seeming to have it fixed, but it ALWAYS returns to the "original state" of "stickiness"!!! Again, not a huge problem, but I'd like to get it seen about and figure out how to fix it once and for all. Anyone else having the same problem? I cannot take my Mac out of service, and this seems like such a simple thing...

    Another poster fixed theirs by doing this…

  • P965 Neo: Boot from USB-Stick problem

    Hi!
    I have a problem with booting from a USB-Stick (FAT) with the P965 Neo board, Bios Version 1.5.
    The USB-Stick will not be detected properly as a boot device (HDD) in the bios setup. It appeared only
    once at the 'Hard Disk Boot Priority' list and sporadically at the 'CD-ROM Boot Priority' list (which is not always there).
    Can anyone please point me to the correct bios setting to boot properly from the USB Stick?
    (Booting from the USB Stick works fine on a ASUS board, so the USB Stick itself is bootable).
    Here is my attached hardware:
    SATA Harddrive
    IDE DVD Burner
    (both connected to the JMicron SATA/IDE controller)
    thanks,
    -phazer-

    I use software called "Flashboot" to format my USB Stick, this software has options to format USB stick as USB-FDD, USB-ZIP or USB-HDD. You can use built in Free-DOS as your USB Stick OS. I have formated it as USB-ZIP and set my BIOS to boot with USB-ZIP and i didn't have any problems. Try this software it's very simple to use and user friendly. Only problem is that is not freeware so if you use trial version you can boot only once and after that you must format it again.

    bejon2000,
    Good point bejon,
    I re-read the article and this what it says: " ....If you remember, older Athlon 64 processors based on 130nm cores didn’t support 4 double-sided DDR400 SDRAM modules working at 400MHz frequency at all and reduced their frequency to 333MHz automatically. The today’s processors based on 90nm cores offer us a few better solutions. The D core revision also known as Winchester allows using four double-sided DDR400 memory DIMMs if the Command Rate timing is set to 2T."
    From what you posted the Winnie D core CPU may need a little TLC and voltage boost. but it should run 4 X double sided 512 sticks at DDR 400 and 2T. Venice or later core may not need such TLC or voltage boost but still need manual  selections in BIOS Cell menu.
    Thanks for pointing this out,

  • Print to sticker problem, eps

    I am having an Illustrator design printed on a “sticker” to be affixed to a metal plate for outdoor use. The printer requested eps. I requested a test print and the resulting image had artifacts. For instance, there are light shaded boxes around some things (drop shadows incorrect?). Also, some of the stroked fonts had little open circles on the corners, like it was selected. When I print from Illustrator to local paper printers, the image is fine. I guess I need to speak to the printer, but for now I’m going through a third party. The original is 9”x12”, CMYK. I saved as “Illustrator CS4 EPS”, transparent, tiff (8-bit color), and under “transparency” I probably changed the preset to “high resolution” (can’t remember). From what I read in other posts, EPS is a black box for a printer that doesn’t understand postscript and that pdf would be better. Also, I read that maybe I should be using process or spot colors (couldn’t figure out which). Any guidance would be most appreciated!

    Agreed, I'm the printer's clilent, I need to meet the person/company doing the printing. I believe it is a small setup and was very surprised when my friend (the inbetween) brought me the sample print and he said the printer didn't have any comments or suggestions! So, I'll talk to hime, or, go to a place around the corner, a big business for our town, and surely they will be able to help me. Now, Grant, suppose eps is what I need, I see where to create the transparency preset. Would I change any of the options? The balance is set at 75. I'm not sure what that is doing, but I can read it. Thanks!

  • Session Stickness problem on weblogic load balancer

    Hello All
    I having trouble related to session stickiness for weblogic load balancing, am using httpclusterservlet on a proxy server that forward requests to 3 managed server that are members of the same cluster.
    I tried to search for a solution to this problem and I found two links that are talking about the same problem but there are still not answered!!.
    Here are the links:
    https://forums.oracle.com/message/11158966#11158966
    https://forums.oracle.com/message/11158964#11158964
    Based on oracle link Using Sessions and Session Persistence, the documentation says under the "HTTP Session Properties" section that there is a change in how the sessions are formatted and this might cause a problem
    for some load balancers (the documentation did not say if weblogic httpclusterservlet is one of them), I tried to do the suggested workaround and I got "java.lang.IllegalStateException: Response already committed" error same as what happens with the user in link https://forums.oracle.com/message/11158966#11158966.
    Does anyone knows how to fix this??, I search for a very long time on this problem and with no luck, please help!

    Hi,
    Can you please give me some more information about your setup ...
    Something like ...
    F5/LB --> Apache or OHS --> WebLogic Cluster..
    If you are using F5/OHS directly to WebLogic cluster you can try enabling the session persistence and this problem should go away..
    If you are using plain Apache or OHS try putting "DynamicServerList" off.
    Let me know something more about setup so that i can contribute to help ..thanks.

  • IPhoto Pics - Sony ProDuo Memory Stick Problem

    I have a Mac mini. Using a Sandisk Micromate Reader to plug a Sony 4 GB ProDuo Memory Stick into the USB port, I transferred ~200 jpegs from iPhoto to the memory stick's DCIM folder and could see them just fine via my computer after the transfer. But when I mailed the memory stick back to my son, he not only couldn't see any of those pictures I'd downloaded--but also could no longer see the pictures he'd taken and sent me. He says the memory stick appears empty, but I know it's not. What does he/I need to do so he can see them both on his Sony Cyber-Shot camera and a computer? Thanks.

    This is not an iPhoto issue but a general operation issue or a Sony issue
    In general camera's require a very specific format for their memory and if there is some small error in that the camera does not see the photos - If you want to send photos to him I suggest taht you simply export those photos to a desktop folder and drag that folder to a cleanly formatted memory stick = he should be able to load those onto his computer  --  he will not be able to see them on his camera - to do that you need to work with Sony support to get the required format exactly correct

  • Small but annoying Stickies problem

    I use Stickies as a to-do list. When I have a bunch of things that I want to add all at once, I use keyboard shortcuts to make a bunch of Stickies windows. After typing in the to-do list, I have to manually resize every window so it doesn't waste screen space. Since then, I found out about the Window -> Arrange By option, but they minimize all of the Stickies, and the font is too small to read. So my questions are:
    1. Is there some way to make the Stickies grab-bar bigger?
    2. Or, is there a fit-to-text auto-resize option?
    3. Or, should I forget about Stickies altogether and use a third-party application?

    I never got into stickies but many folks use it. I use OmniOutliner Pro for my to-do lists. I like the check box function and how you can nest related tasks. There may be some free stuff out there too but I thought that may help you a bit.

  • My Many Irritations (story) and a New Solved Problem (video playback)

    This topic is just going to ramble through the many things that have irritated me about my iPod since the purchase only three weeks ago. Don't get me wrong, though, I still love the thing. For the most serious problems, check out Numbers 3 and 11.
    Lets see... where to begin...
    I originally had no interest in the iPod, but some time after the unveiling of the fifth generation's new capabilities a friend of mine started talking about it quite a lot. And so, some time in early November, my hype for the video iPod had grown greatly. I downloaded Videora iPod converter and started converting music videos like crazy.
    By the time December rolled in I had successfully converted almost all of my 150 or so music videos and imported them into iTunes. With Christmas coming up I was wondering if I should just ask for it as a gift, but impatience set in and I bought it on the fifth of December, and have greatly enjoyed it since.
    Sounds peachy, but there's a fair bit that I left out.
    Number 1. I love viewing movie trailers on Apple's website. But with the recent update to the quicktime software, it was required to get the updated version. With that came iTunes, a program that was at the time unwanted and an irratation.
    Number 2. Videora iPod Converter has it's fair share of bugs. While I successfully converted many a video with it, I found it would 100% of the time fail to convert files of the .wmv format (Windows Media). As well, I would later find a more serious problem.
    Number 3. On the first day of using the iPod I had a serious error. I had been watching videos just fine all day, and the iPod was working perfectly. I then chose a video to play and inexplicably the iPod froze. These are the symptoms: black screen, backlight on, no responce from controls.
    Tired, as it was the end of the day, I was unwilling to go to the computer room and attempt to find a solution online. And so, I gambled that the backlight would drain the battery and hoped that upon a recharge, everything would be fine. As the backlight was illuminating my bedroom, I put the iPod in it's sleeve to dim it a bit and went to sleep.
    As you can imagine, this was kind of scary. I was afraid that I had bricked my iPod on it's first day.
    In the morning, the battery had died and I was able to recharge it by syncing it with my computer. After charging, I tried a few videos and then tried the offending video. Again it froze, but this time I was confident that the backlight would drain the battery and it would be fine.
    I then looked at the folder wherin I had saved the converted video. Among all my other videos was the offending one. I played it in Quicktime 7, and everything was fine until I realized the length of the video was double what it should be. After what should be the end of the music video came two minutes of a white screen. The file size was also abnormally large, compared to the other videos.
    It turns out that Videora iPod Converter can sometimes produce corrupt files, and these corrupt files will not be detected by iTunes as corrupt. Such files can be trasferred to iTunes and to your iPod without any error or problem, but will lock up your iPod when played. Now, when converting batches of videos with Videora, I scan the file-sizes to see if any are abnormally large; after all, using the same settings on a batch of similar in length videos should produce files of similar size.
    It occurs to me now that the method for resetting the iPod might have worked as an alternative to draining the battery.
    Number 4. I should mention that the battery life on this thing was (for me) unexpectedly low when playing videos. I'm not saying that mine is defective or anything, but I just found that the battery runs down pretty quick when playing videos; quicker than I had thought it might. Not a big problem, though.
    Number 5. In a search to find something to convert my .wmv videos to an iPod compatible format I found the ImToo converter. It works quite well, but the trial version is limited to videos of five minutes or less in length. I'm considering paying for the full version, but if someone knows of another reliable .wmv converter, I'd be glad to try that. For now, ImToo is good enough as most music videos are less than five minutes long, but I do have some other videos in the .wmv format that I would like to transcode.
    Number 6. In mid December I went out of town for three days. Of course, I brought along my new favorite portable media player. Not surprisingly, the battery soon ran low and I was without my computer to recharge it. So I went out to a store and bought Apple's official USB Power Adapter. I thought it was kind of expensive, especially considering that they used to be BUNDLED with the older iPod models, but I was happy to find I would now be able to charge my iPod. Wrong. Something that was not made obvious to me by the package description (if it is even mentioned there) is that the darn thing needs the USB cable that came with the iPod. It does not come with one, and so if all you have is a wall socket, the USB Power Adapter, and an iPod, you're screwed. Unless it's the iPod shuffle, which apparantly is the only thing that works with the USB Power Adapter out of the box. As far as portability goes, I feel this hurts. I would have liked to keep my USB cable attached to my computer. After all, it is a pain to get to the back of my computer and keep plugging it in or unplugging it.
    Number 7. I'm rather irritated with certain aspects of the iPod's interface considering music videos and regular song files. I spent a good amount of time adding artist and album tags to all of my music videos. These tags make sorting the videos in iTunes much easier.
    First, the iPod's interface does not allow for the search of videos through album tags, but does through artist tags.
    Second, going to Music>Albums> gives a long, cluttered list of Albums because of all of my music videos and one-hit songs that belong to only one album each.
    I suppose there is a workaround.
    Number 8. I recently bought another accessory for my iPod. The LOGiiX Amplified Fold-Up Speakers. A very attractive and portable set of speakers for the iPod. It comes with a little stand that holds the iPod in place, and works off of either 4 AAA Batteries or AC Power. Yet again, this is a product that DOES NOT come with the power adapter. Now, I think I MAY have one somewhere in my house... perhaps the power adapter that CAME WITH my SONY MD that is being replaced with the iPod will work....
    Oh, and that little clip-on stand I mentioned? I expect it to be lost soon because when I fold up my portable speakers there is no way to clip the stand onto the outside of the speakers.
    Now, as far as portability goes, I have to carry with me (at the most) seven things: the iPod, the headphones, the USB connector, the USB power adapter, the fold-up speakers, the little stand, and an AC power adapter.
    Number 9. Minor irritation in my control of the clickwheel. After this long, I still accidentally select the wrong thing, and often take a fair time to get the highlight where I want. Meh, this one I'll figure out eventually.
    Number 10. There was something irritating about entirely forgetting my login for my Apple ID and having to create this brand new one for today.
    Number 11. Just today, I have come across a problem with the video not playing. I watched one video just fine, went to the Videos>Movies> tab and, as mentioned above, accidentally highlighted a video I did not wish to play and hit the Select button. Normally when this happens I wait until the video has loaded - when the screen goes black and the white Play symbol appears in the top left. But this time, I immediately hit the Menu button to go back to the Movies tab. The video's loading was interrupted and I went back to the Movies tab.
    Now, when I select and play ANY video, after a noticable but short wait the screen goes black, another noticably longer wait and the play symbol appears, and then a black screen for a few seconds and the iPod skips ahead to the next video, which behaves in the exact same way.
    I have powered down the iPod using the method of holding the pause button, but the problem persits.
    My music videos can be played as songs by finding them under the Music tab, but no videos play as videos.
    I am not at my home computer, and so running iPod updater or just trying to sync is not an option right now.
    I will soon try to reset the iPod using the method described on Apple's support website.
    EDIT Okay, the reset did the trick. Videos are playing fine now. I still want to share my iPod story, so I'll leave this here, but have changed it from being a question. Below are the instructions I followed for the reset.
    RESETTING THE IPOD
    1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
    2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

    Nice Rant session:
    "It turns out that Videora iPod Converter can sometimes produce corrupt files, and these corrupt files will not be detected by iTunes as corrupt. Such files can be trasferred to iTunes and to your iPod without any error or problem, but will lock up your iPod when played. What did you expect for freeware? Nice effort but because it's free everyone thinks it's a gem. It's not. This web site has been flooded with questions that should be directed at the authors website. Video conversion and editing is not for the beginner. Sounds to me that you have a bunch of badly converted videos that are causing a lot of problems. Videora problems:
    Known Bugs
    Audio/Video sync
    Problem - Output files can be out-of-sync. While no set pattern has been established, it seems to be more frequent with input files of 23.976 fps, non-DVD rips, and WMV/MPG filetypes.
    Workaround solutions - Try the custom option '-async 1'. If the disconnect gradually increases over time, setting 29.97 fps sometimes gets rid of the problem regardless of the input fps. You can also use AviSynth to assume the FPS and have the audio sync to that. If it's a sudden disconnect, check your VOB Cell settings in DVD Decrypter settings per this thread. Otherwise, test with an AviSynth script per the DaProphecy's method in the FAQ. For non-DVD files, PSPVideo 9 may be a good short-term solution until the converter stabilizes some more or try something like AviDemux.
    Audio track not getting picked up
    Problem - The IFO stream rip is fine, but the converted file has no sound. The debug info showed to audio track getting picked up. The most obvious case with this is the Madagascar DVD.
    Workaround solution ideas - Test with an AviSynth script per the DaProphecy's method in the FAQ (untested). Use a different DVD ripper.
    Program doesn't start (.NET issue?)
    Problem - Converter errors upon starting with an extended dump.
    Solution ideas - Update .NET framework (in all languages you're using!) to most recent solution. Clean out registry. Neither of these have worked for some.
    Progress meter incorrect
    Problem - During transcodes, the progress meter can be incorrect; thus, transcoding continues after the meter hits 100% and time remaining is zero. People have been seeing this more often with VOB files and/or the H.264 codec.
    Workaround - Figure out the length of your movie in seconds and compare that to the 'Processed' field. A 2-hour movie will not finish until Processed hits 7200 seconds.
    Artifacts (bad video quality) in darker scenes
    Problem - Scenes with darker background colors tend to have more artifacts (blocked video). It's much more obvious on the iPod, so this may be an Apple firmware problem.
    Workaround ideas - Use a VBR setting (FQ->VBR, two-pass A->VBR) to improve video quality. The custom option '-mbd 2' might help.
    Desktop icon
    Problem - When installing, the desktop icon does not appear/stick when using lower color setups.
    Workarounds - Select a 32-bit color scheme in your desktop settings, or change the icon in the shortcut.
    Profile changes don't always stick
    Problem - If you make a change to a profile, click apply, and immediately trancdoe with that profile, the transcode might not use the new settings.
    Workarounds - Once you click apply, swtich to another profile and back again to make sure the change is still there. If that doesn't work, create a new profile.
    Can only install/use with admin rights
    Problem - There have been reports of non-admin users not being able to use the converter.
    Workarounds - Separate installs or give all users admin rights.
    Who in their right mind would use a program that has these many critical bugs to convert files for the IPOD. People who are cheap, kids with no money and people who are just plain gullably.
    A little research and downloading a trial from this site would have solved your video problems early on;
    http://www.divmm.com/
    The 5th Gen IPOD was designed to support video content that was purchased on the ITunes web site. For everything else, you are on your own.

  • 3D product rotation images sequence little problem

    Hi!
    I made a sequence of images and make the code the rotate around it but I have a little problem with the loop ( from frame 100 to 1 || 1 to 100 ).
    You can take a look to the link here : http://sebastienouellette.com/productview/test.html
    How can I avoid the little stick problem. I know what's the problem but I dont know how to solve it. It's with the frame tweening. Anyway, here's the code :
    import flash.events.Event;
    import com.greensock.*;
    import com.greensock.easing.*;
    import flash.events.MouseEvent;
    var direct:String = "forward";
    var objTotFrames:int = 490;
    var ease:int = 5;
    var targX:int = mouseX;
    var drag:Boolean = false;
    var ptX:int = 1;
    var frame:int = 1;
    var mousePos:int;
    stage.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, dragHandler, false, 0, true);
    stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, downHandler, false, 0, true)
    stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, upHandler, false, 0, true)
    function dragHandler(e:Event):void
    mousePos = -mouseX * 100 / objTotFrames;
    if ( frame < 1 ) {
    loopForward();
    }else
    if ( frame > 101 ) {
    loopBackward();
    }else
      if (drag)
            initAnim();
    function initAnim():void {
    targX = mousePos+ptX;
    frame += (targX-frame);
    TweenMax.to(mc, .3, {frame:frame});
    //mc.gotoAndStop(frame);
    function loopForward():void {
    //TweenMax.killTweensOf(mc);
    frame = 101;
    ptX = frame - mousePos;
    mc.gotoAndStop(101);
    trace("off 1");
    function loopBackward():void {
    //TweenMax.killTweensOf(mc);
    frame = 1;
    ptX = frame - mousePos;
    mc.gotoAndStop(1);
    trace("over 1");
    trace(frame);
    function upHandler(event:MouseEvent):void
        drag = false;
    function downHandler(e:MouseEvent):void
          ptX = frame - mousePos;
          drag = true;
    Thanks for your help!

    It doesnt work but I think think this is the problem because if you take a look to this example :
    http://sebastienouellette.com/productview/test2.html
    It works pretty well without the "easing" effect and the only think I change in the code is that I removed the line : TweenMax.to(mc, .3, {frame:frame}); and change it to a basic mc.gotoAndStop(frame);

  • Simple Fix for "Sticky Upper Optical Door" Problem

    I've seen quite a few threads popping up in here with regard to the fact that a great many brand-new Mac Pros suffer from a problem where the door/cover for the upper optical drive does not spring shut after the drive is closed.
    Our new Mac Pro suffered from this problem, and with a bit of investigation, I believe I've found a very safe, simple, and completely reliable fix for the issue, so I thought I'd post my solution here in the hopes it will help others.
    No bending, pushing, or mangling of any sort is required for this fix; it's really incredibly simple:
    • open the case and remove the optical drive caddy. Do this by pulling it straight toward you. A small amount of force might be needed if this is the first time you've done it, but eventually the entire aluminium enclosure which holds the drives should slide out.
    • with the drives removed, you'll be able to see the door/cover assembly. Just inside the opening of the case near the opening for the top drive, you'll see a Phillips (star) screw. Loosen this screw just a bit - in my case, all that was needed was about 1/8 of a turn.
    • verify that this fixes the sticking problem with the drive door/cover by manually wiggling it up and down.
    • tighten the screw to the point where you're not worried it might work itself loose on its own, but not so tight that it causes the door/cover to begin sticking again.
    • replace the drive enclosure, close the case up, and you're done!!
    I'm guessing they use a powered screw-driver when assembling that part of the case, and that the screw just gets over-tightened in the process, but then again.. who cares how it happens, so long as it can be fixed!?
    Hope this helps..

    It's nice to know there's a community out there. I bought my Mac pro refurbished and was starting to think the sticking door was why I got it cheaper. Thanks for posting your solution.

  • [iPhone] Custom UITableViewController and selecting cell problem.

    Hello,
    I'm creating a custom table view controller by declaring a UIViewController and adopting the UITableViewDataSource and UITableViewDelegate protocol.
    With my current implementation, if I select a cell to transition to another view and then navigate back to the tableview, the cell will remain selected.
    There must be some delegate method I am not implementing.
    If I update the header file of my table view controller by removing the adopted protocols and subclassing the UITableViewController, I dont have this "selection sticking" problem.
    Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong?
    Thanks!

    You're not doing anything wrong, except by omission. If you choose to implement a table view controller as a UIViewController rather than a UITableViewController, you are responsible for controlling selection/deselection of the cells on returning back to the table view from some child view. In the common case where something going on in the child controller affects what cell should be selected/deselected on returning back to the parent table view, this is exactly what you want, because the UITableViewController doesn't always get it right, to sometimes comical effect.
    How you would set this up is highly context-dependent.

  • USB mounting problem

    I have done my best to research this, but have not found a solution.
    After a new Arch installation on a new machine (Dell Precision T3400) I am unable to change the permissions (even as root!) on files once they are transferred to the usbstick (a Code 1 error message is returned). Other operations, such as copying, moving and deleting occur as usual. I have also noticed that as soon as files are transferred to the USB stick, the permissions get changed (but not the ownership), as if whatever is reading the stick is also changing the permissions.
    It is not the stick -- the same stick performs normally on every other computer I use it on.
    fstab: /dev/sdc1   /mnt/usbstick  vfat   rw,user,auto,sync  0    0
    (basically the same as on 3 other Linux machines I use, all running Arch).
    When mounted, sdc1 has ownership  root:disk.  I have added myself to the disk group. /mnt/usbstick has myself as the owner.
    Not a major problem, just slightly irritating.

    Thanks, Pheon --
    I just noticed I made a mistake in giving my fstab line, it should be:
    /dev/sdc1   /mnt/usbstick   vfat   rw,user,noauto,sync   0   0
    (so "noauto" instead of "auto" in the mount options)
    As I indicated, this is not a USB stick problem (same stick works just fine on other machines) -- also, in my attempts to troubleshoot this, I changed the filesystem on the USB stick to VFAT -- previously, it was whatever the default is when it comes out of the factory, and at that time the fstab line looked like:
    /dev/sdc1   /mnt/usbstick   auto   rw,user,noauto,sync   0   0
    Same situation, i.e. changing the filesystem did not affect the problem in any way.
    Any other ideas?
