Sticky notes and pix

With great help from members of this forum I'm managing to edit a manuscript with sticky notes in Reader 9.3. Is it possible to add images (low res pix)? Adrian Chambers

  • Acrobat X - Sticky notes and spellcheck

The spell checker for sticky notes and dialog boxes used in editing pdf documents in Acrobat Pro X is not working properly. When it auto corrects a misspelled word, it attaches the last letter of the word being relaced to the new word -- resulting in another misspelling. No fixes found for this.  Does anyone have a workaround?

It's a known bug that will be fixed in a forthcoming update.

  • Sticky Notes and How to Manage Them

    Hi there,
I'm a tech author whose client uses Adobe Acrobat (I think)
to review PDF that my company generates (using Jaws I think). When
the reviews come back they are normally covered from start to
finish in 'sticky notes' containing feedback from a multitude of
sources. My question is fairly simply (although I fear the answer
will be expensive!): is there any way I can mark or in some way
keep track of which notes I've actioned/discarded in Adobe Reader?
    Thanks,
    Alex

  • Sticky notes in Acrobat X default to off-the-page and extremely large

    Hi!
I'm fighting an issue where sticky notes that I add to any PDF will always default to the far right (off of the screen) and they tend to be large (as in, the size of about 2 letter pages).  Everytime I add a sticky note to a PDF I must zoom out such that I can see multiple pages on my screen in order to get to the corner of the sticky note and proceed to make it smaller.  This is getting unbelievably tedious as I often review 100's of pages of PDF documents and make comments throughout.  I've tried deleting all of my Acrobat folders in C:\Users\<me>\AppData but the problem persists.  I did not have this issue in Acrobat 7.
I'm on Windows 7 Profession 64bit and am using Acrobat X Standard.  I hope I do not need to reinstall acrobat as I will have to get IT invoved to do that.
    Thanks for any help.

What is the OS and Acrobat language?

  • Created a PDF and added sticky notes, saved and emailed for review, recipient could not see or read the sticky notes.  What needs to be done for my sticky notes to be seen and read when emailed.  Thanks

I scanned a map and printed to create a PDF document, at that point I added sticky notes of different locations with notes of descriptions, saved and email to client for review.
Client received email but when he opened the attachment, all he could see was the map and none of my sticky notes.
What needs to be done so the recipient can see my sticky notes and read the descriptions for each sticky note?

    Hey roy,
Could you please tell me what is your Acrobat version?
Please ensure that recipient downloads the PDF and uses either Adobe Acrobat or Reader to open the sticky notes.

  • Disappearing Sticky Note Comments in Acrobat 9 PDF Reviews

I'm using Acrobat 9 Pro (version 9.3.2) and the reviewers are using Reader 9, and all of us are on Windows XP SP3. I'm distributing PDFs for online review using a SharePoint site (SharePoint Server 2007).
We've observed the following behaviour if you Show Comments List and enter comments for a sticky note using the comment field in this list:
If your cursor is still in the comment field when you publish, you'll get a message saying that a new comment was published, but the contents of the sticky note are missing from the other reviewers' views. They can accept the new comment and the metadata for the sticky note will appear, but the comment will be missing.
If you publish again, you'll get a message saying that a comment was updated, and then the other reviewers will see the contents of the sticky note.
If you enter comments in another sticky note (and leave the cursor in the comment field) before you publish for the 2nd time, you get a message saying 1 comment has been updated and 3 new comments have been added when you hit Publish. Why 3 new instead of 1?
If your cursor is in the comment field, and you haven't published yet, and you do any other activity (such as sorting, filtering, collapsing the discussion), then whatever you had typed in the comment field disappears.
This same behaviour has been observed for replies to sticky notes.
Comments do not go missing if you type in the sticky note pop-up, or reply in the pop-up.
The obvious workarounds are to enter sticky notes in the pop-ups instead of the Comments List, or click elsewhere on the List before doing anything else, or hit Publish twice. However, I don't think we should have to work around this. So, before I ask Adobe to fix this behaviour, has anyone else seen it? Or is there something about how to use the interface that I'm missing?

  • Can't open sticky notes

I transferd an old Windows XP hard drive into a new Windows 8 pc. I can open the older pdf files in Reader XI, I can see the Icons of the sticky notes made last year, but to scroll or click on them does nothing.
I can make new sticky notes and the new notes will open.
    Any Ideas?

Does anyone, especially tech, have an answer to this?? This seems to have gone unanswered for a long time, it is not answered anywhere else whatsoever, and I have the exact same problem on my Chem notes for university. It is incredibly stressful that I just lost a couple days of notes, especially when I'm already behind.

  • Adobe Reader XI - Sticky Notes Inactive

I am using the Adobe Reader XI program. Every time I place a sticky note and save the pdf. and reopen the pdf, the sticky notes appear to be rotated and are inactive. Can someone help with this issue?

Can you please tell us following so that we can reproduce this at our end -
    a) Make sure you have updated Reader patch applied on XI. It should be 11.0.6 and if it is not, please update it then re-try.
    b) If you are already on 11.0.6, then is this problem started after updating to 11.0.6 or it was there earlier as well?
    c) Does this happen with particular file only or in general with all files?
    d) Can you please provide the snapshot of rotate and inactive sticky notes?
    Thanks,
    Vishal

  • Sticky notes in Acrobat Reader x

Unable to activate stcky notes to be able to use in Acrobat Reader X...
What needs to be done to make this happen?

For Reader X, sticky notes and highlighter type of annotations are by default available and can be added on any pdf unless that pdf is secured (or has some special permissions due to which commenting has been disabled.). If you wish to enable all the types of annotations then you need to do the following. Open the pdf in Acrobat (any version). Click Save As->Reader Extended Pdf->Enable Commenting and Measuring.
    Hope that helps.

  • Why can't I read the Sticky Notes I put in my PDF?

I've made PDFs before and added sticky notes, which I can go back to and read later.  But this time around, when I added sticky notes and saved the document, later on when I went back the sticky note image was there, but I couldn't access any of the note itself.  I thought maybe it had to do with an expired trial of Adobe Pro, but I've since upgraded and still can't read them.

    Hi bscraver,
It could be that the opacity of the sticky note changed. Do the sticky notes appear if you choose Comments > Comments List? If so, try selecting one in the Comments List right-click and check the Properties. If the opacity is 0% increase it.
Please let us know how it goes.
    Best,
    Sara

  • Stickies/sticky notes confusion- services menu

I am so confused. I recently wanted to start using the services menu to make new stickies with selected text. The problem is, i have 2 post-it® type apps installed- stickies, which says it is an apple application, v.6. Then i have one called "sticky notes". It's about says it's a third-party app. But the services menu makes a new note in "sticky notes", and i want it to make one in "stickies", as i like it better. And it being an apple application, shouldn't that be the default anyway?

Click the close button in the top-left corner of the sticky note to close it.
Click the Save button in the Close dialog.
Type a name and choose a destination for the note.
Choose an option from the Format pop-up menu:
Plain Text files cannot include paragraph and font formatting or graphics and other embedded files.
RTF files can include paragraph and font formatting. If you add graphics to an RTF file, its file name extension is changed to ".rtfd."
RTFD files can include paragraph and font formatting, as well as graphics.
    Click Save.

  • Change Author Property for Sticky Note

    Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit
    Adobe Acrobat XI Pro
I want to change my name from "Kevin" to "Kevin Stecyk" as the author on my Sticky Notes.
I have tried opening the Annotations Panel and right mouse clicking on the Sticky Note. Unfortunately, "Kevin" is in gray and can't be changed.
When I create a Sticky Note, I can right mouse click on the Sticky Note and change my name to Kevin Stecyk. However, on the next note, I am back to just Kevin. I can even change my name and select "Make Properties Default". Again, once I create a new Sticky Note, I am back to just Kevin.
How do I change the author property for Sticky Note (and others) and have that change stick?

    - Go to Edit - Preferences - Comments and untick the box that says "Always
use log-in name for author name".
    - Restart Acrobat.
    - Create a new comment, edit it and set it as the new default.

  • Can Sticky Notes be Moved Between PDF Documents?

Is it possible to distribute a PDF document to which recipients add sticky notes. Revise the initial documents (without adding sticky notes) and distribute it, and have the recipients move to the revised PDF document the sticky notes they applied to the initial document?

    Thanks Dave,
Is there any way to link a comment (sticky note) to a specific object rather than a page number, so that if:
    1) Comments are exported as data,
    2) The document is edited in Word to add or delete pages (ignoring all comments)
    3) A new PDF is created from the edited Word document
    4) Previously exported comments are imported to the new PDF so that they attach to the corrent objects, without being confused by pages being added or deleted?
Your additional help will be appreciated.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.4.6 Sticky Note Icons are huge and can not resize

My coworker is having a problem with the size of the Sticky Note (comments) Icon.  It is huge and we can not resize.
When you open the icon, it takes up the whole page.  We can change the Font size, but the actual icon will not resize.
The same document opened up from someone else, the icon views normal. We all have Adobe Acrobat Pro V9.4.6.  Any suggestions on a fix?
    Thank You.

    JimJSC,
Your reply also helped fix a problem I had with not being able to resize sticky notes. My original display resolution meant that the resize symbols in the lower corners of the sticky note weren't accessible. In Acrobat X, the setting is under Acrobat, Preferences, Page Display, Resolution.
