Sticky?

I'm guessing there aren't many moderators around but, I think creating sticky threads that stay at the top of the forum would help. Example: problems with the ipod touch and syncing new january applications, it's been asked 40 times, and I've had to reply to all 40 of them. Now why can't the thread I made be stuck to the top so that people don't have to do this? Almost every other electronics forum has this feature.

Now why can't the thread I made be stuck to the top so that people don't have to do this?
The forums software doesn't have a stickies feature.
it's been asked 40 times, and I've had to reply to all 40 of them
That, unfortunately, is an issue in most technical forums: for one reason or another, people are reticent about using the search function, so answers have to be repeated over and over again. At least in AD, experienced members are generally forgiving of that (hmm, or maybe it's just that they like the easy opportunities to score Solved stars by cutting and pasting ready-made answers they keep in their home databases...), unlike other forums I participate in where people are more than ready to n00b-smack people for making the mistake of asking a question for the fortieth time.
On the upside, when you reach Level 2, you will be able to submit the answers to oft-asked questions to the User Tips Library (linked at the bottom right of the main page). If you haven't looked through there already, you may find that there are a lot of useful answers to which you can steer people, all of them created in reaction to exactly the type of issue you are posting about here.
Good luck!

  • Yoga 2 Pro - Videos being sticky in tablet, stand and tent mode.

Correct me if I'm wrong (and please direct me to a similar thread) but I can't find anything online relating to my paticular problem.
The issue is that when I use any other mode expect laptop, I simply cannot watch videos as they constantly stop and start and are just overall very sticky. At first I thought it might just be the dvd I was watching, but I've now tested it on several websites like amazon and youtube, different CD's etc.. (even games, where I get fps drops, less of an issue though).
I was wondering if anyone has experienced a similar problem and knows how I might go about solving this issue.
Let me know if I need to post any specifics.
    Thanks

Good day and welcome to the community.
There are number of threads that discuss Intel's Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework (DPTF) and how it may affect the different modes.
Here is the largest of the threads: forums.lenovo.com/t5/Idea-Windows-based-Tablets-and/Hey-Lenovo-what-s-up-with-DPTF-amp-Yoga-machines... which you may wish to browse through. There are several other threads that you'll find using "DPTF".
Once you've decided which of these threads to participate in, we can merge your post into it.
Hope this helps you a bit.

  • Sticky Note (Text annotation)

    Hello,
I decided to add some sticky notes (text annotation) in my pdf document and I was surprised to see that the sticky notes were not printed. I used the "Document and Markups" option for the print and even in the print preview the Sticky Notes were not present.
Regarding the PDF Reference a sticky note is a Markup so it has to be printed.
Is it a bug? A normal behavior?
While I select the "Print notes and pop-ups" option in the Preferences - Commenting then the Sticky is printed (but also all notes and pop-ups

The Preferences > Commenting > Print notes and popups option takes priority when printing sticky notes - if it's deselected, they don't print at all. If it's selected, sticky notes will print in whatever state they're in (collapsed or open) provided they don't have a non-print attribute set against them.
Most people don't want stickies to print, as by their nature they are either collapsed (hence meaningless on paper) or will obscure some other part of the page. Text markups, stamps etc. can be printed without such issues, hence the above preference defaults to off.

  • Sticky proposal: Logic Pro (first draft)

Ok, here's a first draft of the proposed sticky for this forum. After looking at what we had, I decided to basically do it in four parts - introductory stuff (please post version numbers etc), problem solvers, tips, and audio general stuff.
I'm not making this a work of art, but value feedback in order to make this useful before we ask the mods for a sticky. It's not complete, such a task is a much bigger job, but it's a start. What's not there? What's confusing? Is it too much stuff? Too newbie unfriendly?
When we are happy I will probably style/format it a little better as well.
    Lemme know - cheers,

    - Getting the best help from the Apple Logic Pro Discussions
This forum is intended to be a user-to-user support form to users of Logic Pro.
Please keep your posts on the topic of Logic Pro, or you risk your post being removed for being off-topic. There are plenty of other general audio and recording forums better suited for asking general audio questions.
Questions about third-party software and hardware are welcome as long as they relate directly to using these products in conjunction with Logic.
This forum is dedicated to the post-Apple versions of Logic, which means questions for Logic Pro 7, Logic Pro 8, and Logic Pro 9 are welcome. However, please include the version of Logic you are using, in order to give useful advice (as things change between versions.) Better still, put your Logic versions and system information in your signature, to save having to ask for it.
If you are a user of Logic Express, you should post in the Logic Express forum, rather than the Logic Pro forum, in order to get advice suited to your particular software version (as some things are different between Logic Express and Logic Pro).
Remember that many questions, especially if you are new to Logic, have been asked multiple times before, so it's good practice to use the Discussions Search feature in the top right of the page to search for previous discussions relating to your issue. You will find a wealth of information. Often you can find a solution to your question without needing to post and have someone type out a response they've already typed out hundreds of times before - or worse yet, have your question ignored.
Please be respectful of the members on the board at all times - we are happy to help people out, but do so in our own free time and don't have a duty to do so.
Posts discussing non-Logic related items, off-topic or controversial subjects, abusive posts and harsh language are not welcome and will likely be removed, as will posts discussing illegal software. Please read the Terms of Use of this board for more info at:
This post is a user-contributed compilation of links to content on this forum, official Apple documentation, and occasionally some other outside content where useful to Logic users. It is not in itself an official Apple document, and Apple do not take responsibility for it's content. It is not intended to be complete or comprehensive, just a helpful start for common issues.

Okay, here I marked some of the links because at the time it was not clear if they adress things that are still actual in L9.
It may be a good idea to name the topics that apply to all Logics' (7, 8 and 9) simply Logic Pro (or leave 'm nameless), and the others after the specific version they apply to. The topics with a (9?) behind it, have still to be confirmed to also apply to L9 (.0.2)

  • Problem with stickiness in CSS

    Hi,
I'm trying to configure a stickiness for wireless clients ( mobile phones) that accessing our sites through WAP gateway.
After doing some manual reading and some testing I created the following configuration that still doesn't work:
    service server1
    ip address 10.10.10.1
    port 80
    protocol tcp
    keepalive port 80
    keepalive frequency 10
    keepalive uri "/heartbeat"
    keepalive type http
    active
    service server2
    ip address 10.10.10.2
    port 80
    protocol tcp
    keepalive port 80
    keepalive frequency 10
    keepalive uri "/heartbeat"
    keepalive type http
    active
    header-field-group wap
    header-field 4 custom "x-up-calling-line-id" contain "34"
    content http
    vip address 10.10.5.10
    port 80
    protocol tcp
    add service server1
    add service server2
    active
    content wap
    url "/*"
    protocol tcp
    port 80
    vip address 10.10.5.10
    add service server1
    add service server2
    advanced-balance wap-msisdn
    header-field-rule wap
    no persistent
    active
theoretically it should check whether x-app-calling-id header contain digits 34 - in case of existence it should perform a sticky connection to the same server all the time ,if not it should go to standard http connection that is load balanced with round robbin

First of all thanks for the response.
    #show rule test-1 test-wap services
    The output is :
    server1 6,521,242 S-1 Alive 25 HTTP-80:H 0 0
    server2 5,494,544 S-1 Alive 18 HTTP-80:H 0 0
so i guess it hits the rule
I also have about 1 million hits on the http rule.
So i guess the rule is being hit but the stickiness is not working correctly.
Are there any specific commands you can recommend to troubleshoot?

    Hi,
I'm trying to create a website in Dreamweaver using a template that I purchased but I am having problems fixing a footer to the bottom of the page,
At the moment the content footer that I have created (which is a table) changes positon from page to page depending on the content.
The template comes with 2 x CSS style sheets  and 1 x JS coded page which I know I need to amend in order for the footer to remain fixed to the bottom of each page.
The trouble is my CSS and JS are not up to much. I have inserted the code from the HTML, CSS & JS below.
If anyone can help me out it would be fantastic as I'm really at a loss!
The HTML of my main webpage is as follows:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">

A sticky footer is position:fixed and therefor always visible in the bottom of browser viewports -- even when users scroll up or down the page.

  • When I open my iPad the page is too big for the screen and won't shrink down. The keypad has also become very 'sticky'

Recently when I open any apps the pages are too big for the screen. They shrink when pinched but immediately become bigger again. It's very difficult to scroll too. The keypad has become very sticky. Missing letters and spaces when I type and needing to tap the keys much harder than usual

I have the exact same problem, I think.  I was on my iPad 3's home page swiping R-L to locate a certain icon when all of a sudden the screen appeared to get HUGE.  So big I could only see one or two icons.  I couldn't even turn it off to try a reboot because after I pushed the sleep/wake button, I couldn't find the red slide bar.  I finally just had to wait for the battery to die, then recharge it, and it looked normal again.  I also spoke with several friends who haven either iPads or iPhones, and they've all had this happen to them.  I checked my accessibility settings, and Zoom was already off.  So what is causing this problem for so many people, and what can we do to prevent it?  Please help.

  • Macbook Air trackpad seems to be a little sticky, no damage or spill.

I haven't spilled anything or damaged my laptop, at all. It has been a little over a year since I purchased the Macbook Air, but I think my warranty or free service repairs or whatever have just recently expired. My trackpad seems to be sticky, like it is stuck down the slightest bit or something. It still works fine when I move my finger around on it, but the clicking is just a little difficult and irritating (especially right clicking). I was wondering if and how I could fix this. I have learned that if I click it fairly hard repeatedly it will work perfectly, but after a very short period of time it will go back to being seemingly slightly stuck down or sticky. Also, as the days pass, it is getting worse. Any help is greatly appreciated! I just don't know why this would happen if it has been treated with care. Thanks!

  • How do I keep the sticky notes from shifting their placement as soon as I select File, Print?

Working with Acrobat Pro 9 and Windows 2007, I frequently use sticky notes to approve multi-page invoices scanned by another location.  On the screen they appear where I put them - but as soon as I click File, Print with the printer "Adobe PDF" and "documents and markups" selected, the ntoes all shift to a static location on each page that overlays the invoice detail.  I've tried multiple settings and defaults to no
avail.  Any help is much appreciated.

Either don't rename upon export, or use the (original filename or) image number in the renaming template:
(see 'File Naming' section of export dialog box)

  • FEATURE REQUEST: Sticky editing of feed info

I love iTunes 6 on Windows as pod-catching software. It's great. But a minor feature request.... (since I don't see anywhere else on Apple.Com for iTunes feature requests, I'm posting it here).
Most podcast authors seem to do a lousy job of creating intuitive feed metadata information (Artist, Description). And since podcasts seem to be sorted by default on my iPod by Music > Podcasts > [ARTIST FIELD], I always edit the Artist Field in iTunes before I sync with my iPod. I do this by selecting all items in a feed group, right clicking, choosing Get Info, and editing the Artist field to something short which makes sense to me.
However, this edit isn't sticky. When new items in a feed are downloaded to iTunes, they have the original Artist field. So I have to edit this a lot.
What I'd like is to be able to edit the Info of the feed once in iTunes. Then, every time a new item is downloaded to that feed in iTunes, I'd like iTunes to go ahead and edit that item's info to match my sticky feed setting. This way, I only need to edit the info once when I add a new feed, and each item subsequently downloaded will inherit those settings.
Make sense? A "power user" feauture, I'm sure. But it'd be nice....
Dell Dimension Windows XP iTunes 6, 20GB iPod
    Dell Dimension   Windows XP

Can't be done currently. Interesting idea, though.
However, I've found that podcast creators tend to be pretty responsive to criticisms along these lines. I've had this same problem with some podcasts, and after I mentioned it to them, they started tagging their podcasts appropriately. Some of them even started adding "album art" after I explained how it would show up on newer iPod's when playing the track, if the iPod user uses iTunes.
I'd email the podcast author and let them know what's up. This is generally a better long term solution anyway, as it helps everybody.

  • How do I search for sticky notes in a PDF doc?

Several people (at work) have commented on a 440-page document that I created, using sticky notes to write their comments in. When I first open the document, the sticky notes are all closed. The icon for a closed sticky note is pretty small and not brightly colored, so they're easy to miss when scrolling through hundreds of image-heavy pages. I am hoping that it's possible to search for each occurrence of a sticky note.
If there is no way to search for the notes, is there a command I can use to open all the notes in the file (in one action) so that they are larger and easier to spot?
    Platform: Windows 8 PC
    Version: Acrobat 8
If this is not a feature available in Acrobat 8, is it possible to do this in later versions?
Apologies if this is not the right community for this question, but none of the ones listed seemed like the obvious choice, and there is no "miscellaneous" or "general" category. If there is a better community for the question, please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Joyce.

Out the gate you've a problem.
The Acrobat 8 product family passed into "End of Support" many years ago (well before the release of Windows 8).
"End of Support" means -- well, just that eh.
The Acrobat 8 product family is not compatible with Windows 8.1, 8 or 7.
The Acrobat XI product family is compatible with Windows 8 / 8.1.
Regarding Comment and Mark Up Annotations:
With Acrobat 8 Pro use the "Comments List".
Same wit Acrobat 9 Pro, X Pro and XI Pro.
May be available with the various versions' "Standard" release.
The contents of a Comments List can be exported to a PDF report.
The filter an be used to display specific characteristics / attributes which then become the reports content when you output a report.
Having "8" the Help PDF file got loaded with the install of "8".
Use it to review the information provided on the Comments List.
    Be well...

    How to Flash MSI Guides.
There are different ways to flash the bios but to keep things simple will concentrate on the MSI Official methods :-
    1) Award Flash BIOS Procedure 98/ME
This method assumes access to hd formatted using FAT32 & therefore readable by DOS.
    2) Flashing the BIOS for Users using NON FAT file system
For use with Linux based & NTFS File systems - HD Not readable from DOS.  Using this procedure the  the files are copied to the virtual drive before running the flash utility. So the flash effectively is all done in memory.
This will be the method used by the majority of us. So:-
Follow the instructions in the last link (Thanks Bas)
The details below are additional checks/notes referring to the steps in Bas's guide, which may be useful.
    Essential
    2) Know Your model number  - Is of increased Importance for NEO4 users - We have already seen instances of this.
5-1) Ensure you have a Boot Floppy with CD suport (this creates the Virtual drive used in the process) If you haven't got such
a boot disc see BootrDisc.com link in Rescources.
5-2) B4 booting floppy - Enter Bios & Load Optimised Defaults - To ensure that bios is returned to stock & any overclocking is
    turned off.
    7) If you miss the ramdrive letter the last DOS message will show your CD drive letter. The Ramdrive is the letter preceeding
the CD Drive. EG CD = D Ramdrive = C
Optional - Gives better control of procedure
    11) Use of Switch command options with AWFL833C.EXE /py/sn/wb/cc/cd/cp/r TargetBios.file
Personnaly I use the switches as does Syar :-
    Per Syar2003 Iv'e always used :
    AWFL833D W7030NMS.xxx /py/sn/wb/cc/cd/cp/r
    or
    AWFL833D W7030NMS.xxx /py/sn/wb/cc/cd/cp/f/r
And a hard reset with jumper when done .
For a more detailed explanation of switches see :-
    Syar's Bios Switch Explained
    or Syar's Bios Collection - Flashing.txt
See Also Using a Batch File to Automate bios flash
    12) after flash , enter Bios & load optimized defaults , then save + exit with no other change .
That way you have a fresh system with a fresh non problematic dmi-pool and user settings .
After this Enter Bios & Re-enter your custom settings.
From Syar - Which one do I do first?
Thanks to Bas & Syar for the majority of info in this guide

    FLASH PREPARATION
Always Load Optimised defaults & Save b4 flashing - NEVER FLASH When running an OC or Unstable.
If you need to flash & are worried about stability - run with a single module & test it it memtest 1st.
    FLASH METHODS
    1) Winflash (Syar2003) -
Winflash is safe to use if your windows and pc is stable .
How to get it Download & install MSI Live Update. Winflash is located "C:\Program Files\MSI\Live Update 3\FlashUty\Award
And as with dos flash reset bios and any overclocking to "load optimized bios default" + save, before and after flashing.
After winflash is finished it ask if you want to reboot - answer no , and shutdown (turn off) windows/pc instead .
After that disconnect the PSU's AC and reset the cmos with the jumper on the board .
This is how I use it , - safest way .
Note ! Place checkmarks on bootblock / dmi area /update all /reset cmos
    Using Winflash - Syar2003's GuideWinflash
    2)  MSI Guides for flashing using a floppy
2 Flavours depending on OS the majority of us use the 2nd as dos floppies can't read a NTDS partition.
2-1) Award Flash BIOS Procedure 98/ME

  • Mouse over pop up - not sticky note-can it be done?

I am curious if there is a feature in Acrobat where by mousing over an area you can get a pop-up that provides information about the area you have moused over - much as you get when you hold the mouse over an item in the toolbar. I have looked and tried but, other than sticky notes-which are not really what I want - I have found nothing.
    Is that possible in Acrobat?
Would appreciate any info or ideas.
    Joe

You can use the button tool to create a button and in the properties add a tooltip. That will show on mouseover.
Be sure and set the properties with no fill or border so it won't be visible.

  • Time to Change the Sticky at the top of this forum?

I think that we are past the delivery issues with the Droid X. As far as I know, anyway.
I respectfully submit to the Mods that the following information (copied and pasted from a response to a past by Wildman)  be posted at the top as a sticky, named possibly as "2.2 Froyo issues and solutions" or something to that effect
"This has been verified as being the best way to stop a number of the issues that has developed after doing Froyo update, the system seem to keep the 2.1 app and settings during installation process and this seems to cause a number of incompatible issues with a number of devices.... Follow this process after completing Froyo Update to avoid problems..
Follow these settings during restore to avoid issues being restored automatically.
    1. Uncheck "Back up my data" under Settings/Privacy
    2. Click Factory Data Reset/Reset Phone
    3. After reset is complete only Active Phone but do not input Google Email information
    4. Once phone is at homepage go back into Settings/Privacy and make sure the Automatic Restore option is unchecked, even if grayed out, activate "Back up my data" and quickly disable "Automatic Restore"
    5. After being sure that the Automatic Restore option is off it will be safe to log into Google and you can continue installing preferred apps and custom settings.
This process will stop all applications and settings from restoring automatically and restoring original issues that usually resolve a number of issues."
Or possibly, just post this entire thread by Wildman..
    http://community.vzw.com/t5/DROID-X-by-Motorola/Minimize-Droid-X-Issues-After-Froyo-Update/td-p/296586
And finally, it would be helpful to add this info from the Moto employee regarding updates from Moto to address other issues with Froyo..
"If you have already upgraded to 2.2 for Droid X, you have certainly found some great new capabilities. Most owners appear to be having untroubled operation, but  a few owners also found new issues. While the incidence of these these issues is low, we want to provide some positive news for those who might be experiencing them.
Here are some of the known issues raised by forums members, with some information about each. It is not intended to be a complete list at this time -- there are many more improvements in the works. I’ll update this list as information becomes available.
Stuck on Moto logo after reboot – this was tough on a very few owners. Sorry about that. A fix has been developed for this and should eliminate the problem. It will be distributed in a future software release. If you are still experiencing this issue, click here.
Random rebooting – while there always seem to be new conditions that can cause an electronic device to panic, we do have improvements coming that address and eliminate identified panic states. They will be distributed in a future software release.
WiFi connection and stability – improvements in WiFi have been developed, to address several problem areas. They will be distributed in a future software release.
Battery Manager “force close” errors – under some circumstances, pressing the battery icon under Menu > Settings > Battery Manager results in a forced close error. A fix has been developed for this and should eliminate the problem. It will be distributed in a future software release.
Media won’t play – includes “sorry the player does not support this type of audio file," custom ringtone stop working, video won’t play, etc. A reboot will restore full media function, but not permanently. We believe we have identified the cause of these errors. A fix has been developed for this and should eliminate the problem. It will be distributed in a future software release.
Music files cutting off the final four seconds or so – a solution has been developed. It will be distributed in a future software release."
I truly believe that a sticky with this information would be a big help to those looking for advice and answers to the various Froyo issues (that, fortunately, so far I have not been afflicted with (except for that funny issue with the accessibility issue that apparently NO ONE, including myself read about in the what???......THE USER GUIDE!...:smileyvery-happy:
    Thank you,
    Geri O

My Eris? Only minor occasionally glitches (force closes or bad apps) and just recently found one tiny dead spot in the LCD screen (no big thing). Biggest thing is I have NOT had to pull my battery in months! I think it was more my fault the last time it happened.
The main reason I think my phone is so problem free is I did a factory reset soon after 2.1 OTA update.
Btw I went from a Motorola W385 to the Droid Eris. Big learning curve, but I enjoyed the trip. LOL

  • Has anyone figured out how to get speech recognition working with sticky keys enabled on mountain lion?

I'm trying to use speech recognition to input text on my iMac running the latest mountain lion, 10.8.3.
    I have sticky keys enabled.
When I try to start speaking by pressing the function key twice nothing happens. I can only get it to work if I disable sticky keys.
The same problem occurs with all the other modifier keys as shortcut, they do not work with sticky keys.
When I try to select a different shortcut, I am unable to select a two key combination, but am limited to one.
If I select the F6 key, or any other single key, I am able to start speech recognition. However the second time that I press the key, it does not stop recognition and process my words. Instead, it restarts the recognition.
Has anyone figured out how to get speech recognition working with sticky keys enabled?
Or a way to get an individual key shortcut to start on the first press and process it on the second?
Or a way to get key combinations to work, as specified by the help:
    Dictation On and Off
    To use Dictation, click On.
When you’re ready to dictate text, place the insertion point where you want the dictated text to appear and press the Fn (function) key twice. When you see the lighted microphone icon and hear a beep, the microphone is ready for you to speak your text.
    Shortcut
By default, you press the Fn (Function) key twice to start dictation. If you like, you can choose a different shortcut from the menu.
To create a shortcut that’s not in the list, choose Customize, and then press the keys you want to use. You can press two or more keys to create your shortcut.

I noticed with version 10.8.4 of OS X that I am now able to select F6 to activate, and the return key to complete the speech recognition. This is still different than the description of how these should function that's included in the help, but at least it's an improvement.
