Still can't launch classic inside 10.4.5 despite alias fix

Hi, I still can't launch classic inside 10.4.5 without the "connection failed" message problem. I tried the fix of removing all the aliases from the apple menu items and still I get this irritating message. classic will launch and the app within it, but I still get that message and it won't go away no matter how many times I click okay so I can't use the classic app I launched. Any other ideas? Thanks!

Is my whole problem font-related? I tried unlocking the Minion font mentioned, re-installed. same thing. I moved all the Minions fonts to the desktop, still no good. Are all the fonts locked? The info window said that font was unlocked to System read/write, but locked to read-only for Admin. There's no way to unlock all the fonts at once? Help!

Still can't launch any updated iWorks apps after after reinstalling Mavericks

So Mavericks works fine and my old versions of iWorks apps were fine. The they updated to later versions. First of all I had issues, then realized that the old icons were still on the Dock. Once removed, they worked. Also removed old apps from the Apps folder. Everything was fine for a couple of days. Now, not matter what icon you click on, Dock or Apps Folder, the app icon with 'jump' but nothing happen - except the 'submarine' sound if you do it a second time. I then noticed I couldn't open the App Store either.
I did a reinstall (not from Restart>Command R) simply from the Insall OSX Mavericks install icon found in my App folder). This has had the effect of allowing me to launch all apps now, EXCEPT the iWorks ones (Keynote, Numbers, Pages).
I am at a loss. Short of removing the updated iWorks Apps, finding my iWorks 09 DVDs, reinstalling iWork 09 then updating the new version via the App Store again, I don't know what else to do????
I need to open and update a resume to apply for a job ASAP, which doesn't help!

So WEIRDEST thing!!! I deleted/reinstalled facebook, and then tried an app that hadn't worked 20 minutes ago...... ALL my apps are working now! ***? well, sorta - my music is still missing...

You cannot send using iCloud's outgoing server with anything other than your iCloud address. You can perfectly well send from Mail using your ISP's server.

After Effects CC still can't launch on Mavericks

This seems to be a common issue but mine looks a bit different
Probably because of my lack of experience in mac or Adobe products!!!
Ok, my problem started from a window popped up saying "Install CUDA 5.0 or later and restart computer" or something like that when I first opened After Effects CC.
So I googled and found the NVDIA website and downloaded the CUDA 5.0, yep, I changed my security preference on mac to allow apps to be downloaded from unidentified developers, and then completed installation, easy! ...I thought.
After restarting the computer I re-opened AE, it kinda loads with this fancy purple 3D intro image, but this time it opened with nothing but the "****" noise (the error noise?).
All I see is the grey frameworks with "Render Queue" tab...no welcome screen, no tools, no "Install CUDA..." screen either.
The buttons on the top (File, Edit, Composition, Layer etc...) are clickable but the contents of each button are in light grey apart from the "Help".
I tried updating, uninstalling and reinstalling of AE, shutting down and restarting of computer, but no luck.
Does anyone has/had the same issue?? I just don't know what to do next
I apologize for the long story and would be much much appreciated if someone could help

After installing Lightroom, CS3 Photoshop can't launch

Dear All,
Last night, I had installed Lightroom V1.0 into my iMac.
Verified and Repaired Permission and scanned with Disk Warrior. Then when I tried to launch Photoshop CS3, I had an error message:
"A required application library failed to load and the product cannot continue. Please reinstall the application"
Then I reinstalled (repair) only Photoshop and Verified and Repaired Permission. Had my HD scanned (again) with Disk Warrior but my Photoshop still can not launch.
Can anyone share some light here? I thought Lightroom should be able to go hand in hand with Photoshop?
Please advice.

Oh,definitely not. I am aware of Apple's security updates causes lots of problem. I didnt update any security update.
And recently, I had my HD formatted and reinstalled everything (except security updates) and yet I have this problem.
Maybe I should remove Illustrator, PS and Lightroom from my HD and reinstall (as suggested by another user). I also facing problem to update my Illustrator from 13.0.0 to 13.0.1.

Can't launch Lightroom 3.6

When I attempt to launch Lightroom 3.6 I get a message saying 'The Lightroom catalog named 'Lightroom 3 Catalog' cannot be opened because another application already has it opened. I have the option to 'change catalog' but I get the same message for that one too. I have no other applications running and have rebooted my PC several times but I still can't launch Lightroom. Any ideas? I put today aside to do a heap of work in Lightroom and CS5 - but Sod's Law says this is the day I get this problem

Unfortunately the victory was short lived. I left for work this morning having imported a (MS Windows) folder of CR2 files and created a collection for them. When I went to edit them this evening every image has the notice 'The folder could not be found'. The folder still defninately exists and opens in Canon DPP
When I followed your advice earlier and deleted the 'lock' folder I could access Lightroom again but all my collections were gone - although presets and Camera Calibration remain
Is this a case of re-install, do you think?

More possible bad news. If you had followed what fane_j had asked you to do you might have found out it wasn't microsoft's fault for your problem and wouldn't have had to spend $150. Because while you may have an Office that works, fane_j was not suggesting a solution but probing for a trojan (google "flashback trojan") that has been crashing powerpc code which is what Office 2004 is.
So if you do have the trojan, while you can run a version of Office, the trojan may still be in your system since installing a version of Office isn't going to remove it. So I'll make another request. Launch Terminal (in your Utilities folder) and copy/paste the following line into the terminal window and hit return:
defaults read ~/.MacOSX/environment
If you see anything other than a "does not exist" error message you almost certainly do have the trojan and post the results in this thread.
The choice is yours. You can ignore this and take the risk. Or do what has been requested.

Thanks for the reply. The Itunes trouble shooting in Itunes help. I don't get an error message, it just states can't see ipod like if it wasn't plugged in. I do get an error message on a few of the songs when sync that say error 50, and state that they can't be loaded to ipod. The weird thing is that I can load all of my libary except the latest 3 albums. They are in my libary but they won't load. I'm not sure but it seems like it started when the cloud came about from amazon which is where I buy most of my music.

I'm trying to create a popup to show a print-format of an iView, for the user to have a better format for printing purposes.
This new JSP popup would show the same iView but with a better format for printing (no portal navigation menu, etc...)
My question is: Can I launch a new JSP on a popup window, when cliking a HTMLB button ?
Here's the technical details of what I've been doing so far:
- I'm using EP 5, but I believe the technologie for EP 6 should be the same
- we're talking of a Java iView using HTMLB
So far these are the experiences I have tried with no sucess

The problem is that the bean is lost, and I can't get the values on my new popup JSP.
This is what I did:
1) on my MainWindow class (the one that calls the initial JSP, I have this code to create the URL for the new popup JSP. This is the code:

How can I pass the values (or beans) to my new popup JSP ?

I have managed to solve the problem I had.
Here's the problem + solution sumary.
I have to remind you that we are talking of EP 5, PDK 5 (Eclipse version 2.1.0), with JAVA JDK 1.3.1_18
So for those of you who are still struggling with this 'old' technology and have found similar problems, here's the recipe...
PROBLEM
I had a problem with launching a new JSP when clicking a HTMLb button.
I wanted to create a JSP to present a 'print-format' of an iView.
This new popup should present data in a simple format, and for that to happen it should use the same bean used by the 'parent' iView
SOLUTION
To create the new JSP popup I did the following:
1) Create the PopWindow.jsp
        Nothing special here, beside the instruction to use the same bean as on the other JSPs

   2) Create the associated JAVA class
MyPop.java.      This class will be used to call the PopWindow.jsp
      The only important thing here was this piece of code

         myHttpSession = myComponentSession.getHttpSession();
         myDataBean = (DataBean) myHttpSession.getAttribute(BEAN_KEY_DATA);

      Here you can see that I'm doing 2 diferent things:
      a) get the bean from the HttpSession
      b) and then kick it back again, but this time into this component session

popvalues.properties.      This file contains the follwing code:
      ClassName=MyPop
      tagLib.value=/SERVICE/htmlb/taglib/htmlb.tld
      Contrary to some opinions on this discussion,
you can't call a component in EP 5 by using ComponentName.JSPname.
Or at least that didn't work for me.
You nee to use an aproach like this one ComponentName.NewProperiesFileName
4) On my main class MainClass.java (for the parent iView) I haded the following code on the event doInitialization:

      The idea here was to build dinamicaly a URL to call the popup.
      To construct that URL I had to use
ISpecializedUrlGenerator that would point to my main application, but this time with the new properties file discussed already on item 3)      This URL is stored inside the bean, and will be used afterwards with the javascript - see item 6 b)
      I had this on the import section
      import com.sapportals.portal.prt.service.urlgenerator.IUrlGeneratorService;
      import com.sapportals.portal.prt.service.urlgenerator.specialized.IPortalUrlGenerator;
      import com.sapportals.portal.prt.service.urlgenerator.specialized.ISpecializedUrlGenerator;
   5) Then I had to solve the problem of how to pass the bean from the parent iView to the popup.
      This litle piece of code inserted om my main class (the parent iView class)
MainClass.java solved the problem:

      request = (IPortalComponentRequest) getRequest();
      session = request.getComponentSession();
      session.putValue(BEAN_KEY_DATA, myDataBean);
      myHttpSession = session.getHttpSession();
      myHttpSession.setAttribute(BEAN_KEY_DATA, myDataBean);
      Here you can see that I'm inserting the same bean in 2 complete diferent situations
      a) one is the component 'context'
      b) the other, wider, is the HttpSession - the one that will be used by the popup - please see item 2)
   6) Last but not the least, the HTMLb button
      a) first I had this on my main JSP

       As you can see there's no event catch or call to the server. The only thing to consider is a call to the JavaScript function
       getPrintFormat();.

It appears that you are launching the old version, probably using an icon in your Dock. That icon is an alias & is not updated. You will need to go to your Applications folder & find the new Pages 5 icon & double-click it. Once it is launched, you can right-click on the icon & choose Options > keep in Dock from the contextual menu.

Can't launch Safari due to error message

I can't launch Safari anymore. It says it is missing some important resources and I have to reinstall Safari. I have done so, but it still does not work.
Here is the error message;
The procedure entry point SQLite3_wal.checkpoint could not be located in the dynamic link library SQLite3.dll.
Can someone please help me? I have rebooted my computer, uninstalled Safari and reinstalled it without any luck.

Just so you are aware, Apple no longer suports Safari for Windows.
If you don't want to use IE, try Firefox for Windows > Mozilla Firefox Web Browser
Much more user friendly than Safari.
