Still can't network
So, I managed to get the Airport HDD to be seen on my Mac. As my Mac is hardwired in teh router, this may be why my mac sees it. My windows PC does not see it, although it does use the internet signal wirelessly
I don't understand this, isn't the HDD automatically shared with everything that connects to the router?
Only guest users currently cannot access it according to thr router settings, but I even tried setting that to read&write without effect.
Can someone please tell me how I can actually create a network step by step?
The manual is useless, it doesn't say anything other than "thank you for your money!"

I can access the USB HDD from the iMac that is connected via the WAN port on the AEBS. But it's not mounted.
I started up my old iMac, and connected to my network. Interestingly, if I search through the folders in the network link of my old iMac, I find the USB HDD and can actually access it!
The old iMac also sees my netbook (identified by brand and MAC address, which I recognise and is correct for the netbook).
When trying to access that netbook, it asks for a workgroup, a user name and a password. No idea why and what those may be. I assume I have to set those up on my netbook?
Then when trying to do software updates on the old iMac, it does not seem to be able to connect, whilst I have safari open and running fine on the same machine at the same time, what's up with that???
In the mean time my new iMac does NOT see the netbook or the old iMac. I wonder why that is?

PC Still Can Access Network without Joining AD in ISE Environment
Hi Folks,
I'm new to ISE and I have a problem about access control with ISE and here's my situation:
The wired 802.1X is deployed with windows AD using ISE. For now, Clients joined the domain can access the network well, however, for computers which havn't joined the domain can also access the network if the users know their account of the domain. They can start the 802.1X service by themselves and configure the network card properly, connect the network cable, when the windows dialog pops up, the user can enter the username starts with the domain like "mydomain\username"(mydomain is the domain name) and the passowrd, then the computer can gain the access just like it had joined the domain. So I think there may be some mistakes with my Authentication and Authorization Policy.
My authentication policy is configured like this:

I'm wondering if I can add one condition to math the hostnames of the windows as computers which had joined have the unified format?

Fixed "network settings have been changed" message but now can't network
As per suggestions, I deleted the files suggested, the message disappeared, and I reentered my network settings. But, now I can't connect to my laptop from my desktop. I can connect from my laptop to the desktop just fine, but when I try and connect in finder (and I tried connecting through network and through going to the laptop's ip address), it just spins for a while and then stops. Any notions?
The com.apple.nat.plist file didn't regenerate, but I put an old one in. Didn't seem to solve the problem.
Thanks!Ok, now I've gone and put back the original files in the hd/library/preferences/systemconfiguration folder. I've got the annoying "your network settings have been changed" message in my network window, but I still can't network to my laptop.

FYI: The desktop is an old 2ghz x2 G5 running 10.4.11 and the laptop is a new MB unibody running 10.5.5

I've been having an issue of connecting to wifi. I have restored and set up my phone as a new one and i still can't connect. Also i have restored my network setting also. The wifi button is still grey and i cant switch it on or off.

my iphone 4s can not scan any wifi network, i tried everything but still can not scan any wifi connection even though our wifi is working properly in our mac book and ipad. What do i need to do if the problem is the hardware?pls help
When you say it "can not scan any wifi network" do you mean it is not detecting Wi-Fi networks?
Is Wi-Fi turned on in Settings > General > Wi-Fi?
Have you tried Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings?
Is it just the home network that the device will not connect to? or any network? -
I'm connected to the network, but still can't get online!
I use airport to connect to the internet in my home. I have a very strong signal and my computer says I'm connected to the network, but I still can't connect to the internet. It just stopped working. Running diagnostics doesn't help- it just tells me to restart the device, which I've done over and over to no avail.

You have a green light signal in network status window? If it is yellow or red it is unavailable. If your connection is full of traffic, this may effect connection.
In window you may need to type in optional search domains. Your provider should tell you this no one else~ They would also walk you through your connection failures. If it is yellow and you connect to your provider's router and don't have your own router, this number may not appear in your connection information. You need to tell them their router is down so they can fix it. They may not find out if pings come back. Pings may also be cached (I am not sure but it might) so it may take them a while to find out if you don't tell them. I would call your provider. Maybe empty your preferences in your browser. You may have cookies or garbage to empty there. Use another browser.

Installed AE to iMac G5 but still can't detect network
Sorry for another thread but I've been searching the forums for this answer.
I installed an Airport Extreme card on my 1.8 Ghz PowerPC iMac G5.
After installing the software and updating all my software, I still can't find any networks on my Airport Extreme card. I have two other Macbooks and they are able to detect networks from my Airport Extreme Base station and also detect the neighbor nextdoor.
I can't seem to find a signal to any networks or connect to them. Please advise to what I need to do to get my iMac to detect my wireless networks.

The antenna wire connects pushes into the card farther than most people think. Compare your installation with the photos in KB 108039, Properly attaching the antenna on an AirPort Extreme Card. -
I have a iPhone 4S and a Cannon Printer with AirPrint. I have the printer and the iPhone both on the same network, however I still can't locate the printer on the phone. Works just fine with the laptop on the same network. Any suggestions?
ok no problem! all i did was 1) set up the mobile hotspot on my phone. 2) turn it and wifi on on the phone. 3) connect the laptop/desktop to the hotspot network. 4) insert setup disk for the printer and begin setup. 5) complete the setup "using a usb cord to temporarilly connect the computer and printer" 6) unplug usb cable and finish set up on the laptop/desktop. 7) give it a few minutes to show up on the AirPrint menu on the phone. 8) that should be it. I unplugged the printer and plugged it back in, made sure the laptop was totally turned off AND disconnected from the network, and did everything I could to try and make it not work. The printer I have is a Canon MG3122, it doesn't have a fancy screen or even a way to input a password or anything like that, so it just strores a default network that it will connect to. in order to change networks i would have to complete setup multiple times. Since I only plan to use it with AirPrint for my mobile business....the one network is just fine! Hope this helps!

I have gone through FAQ and tried all methods and checked settings in my iMac and my iOS devices (iPhone 4s and iPad2) and still can't useRemore app to control iTunes. I have used this app without a problem before with my old iPhone 3 and it worked fine.
What is wrong with it?Other than you have used it before and it worked - can you provide some more details? You don't see your iTunes library in the remote app?

After 16 hours, I still can't reactivate my iPhone 4s.
I spent 3 hours in an Apple Store last night, working with mutliple techs and managers. I brought my cell in due to overheating. The genius suggested I do a complete restore, to factory settings. It seemed to load the operating system fine, but is now stuck on the activation screen. We have tired multiple wifi networks and iTunes and I did the restore again, through iTunes this morning. Still getting the same message, "Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting your iPhone to iTunes to activate it, or try again in a couple of minutes. If this problem persists, contact Apple Support.." On iTunes, I get this error message, "Your request could not be processed. We're sorry, but there was an error processing your request. Please try again later". I bought my phone from Apple, never messed with any features, didn't have many apps on it, etc. I spoke with Sprint Customer Service and their Technical Reps last night too. Everybody seems to be as perlexed as I am. Could there be a possibility, that Find my iPhone's Activation Lock, is preventing my cell from activating? Should that feature been shut off, prior to the restore? Is there anyway to shut it off now and see if activation will go through?
I am having my suggestion deleted by somebody, only trying to help, because I couldn't find any help here and stumped both Apple and Sprint Techs..... YES, Activation Lock, does prevent you from activating your own iPhone. I worked on mine forever and had it looked at by many Apple Geniuses. I removed my device from Find my iPhone and it activated perfectly! Does make complete sense though.. Activation Lock does its job, so you just need to make sure Find my iPhone is completely off BEFORE doing a complete restore. It was very simple to add my device back, after completely the full backup. If you did the restore, without turning off Find my iPhone, you still can get past the activation "road block", by removing your device on icloud. Sincerely hope this information helps somebody and doesn't insult or frustrate anybody.

iPad mini will not let me access mail after latest software update, 6.1.2, seems to want me to sign in, but whenever I type my Id ad password it just says that the mail account already exists.. Still can't open my mail!

Im using a MacBook Pro 2GHz Intel Core Duo, so quite an old mac, and iTunes 11.4. PLEASE HELP ANYONE!!!!I've tried turning off and turning back in sync music, tried manually installing music. Re-installing the ios, resetting the network prefs etc. Some others had this problem when ios8 first came out. I tried all the 'tricks' they tried..... but there's worked whereas mine didn't.

Apple TV keeps asking my for my 3digit Credit Card verification code and I punch it in, it still asks me for it, and went to my computer on iTunes store, checked the code, all is set and saved, go back to Apple TV still can't rent a movie, I still get the same Verification Required message without any further information after I punch in my 3digits. When I hit submit, the page goes back to the same place to type the code again, and yes the code is 100% accurate. I tried restoring the apple tv, every thing is up to date on all devices and signed in and out of my itunes store on my Mac, still no luck. Please help!

to determine if there are the same problems you are experiencing. I have spent over 6 hours on this issue trying to isolate if it is a hardware, software, network, iTunes account, or Apple device issue. My initial results indicate it is a software specific issue related to the Apply TV hardware device. -
Still can't get airplay to work!!!!!
Grrrrrrrrr. Still can't get airplay to work with either my iPad or my iPhone to my atv2. Everything has the latest firmware, including my airport extreme. Airplay is turned on in options on the atv2.
Everything is on the same network. I even switched networks but still nothing.

Your profile indicates you are running v10.5.7. If that's the case, you need to update your system software to v10.5.8 which is the minimum requirement for the iPad.
Click the Apple () menu then click: Software Update...
And make sure Bluetooth is not enabled on either the iPad or the iPhone. Tapping Settings / General / Bluetooth.
