Still from video in ilife 11? how?

I have ilife 11. I downloaded mpeg stream but the prompts that have been suggested aren't there.
I don't see reveal in finder when I right click on my video, nor am I able to drag. In fact, HELP!
Thanks.

If you don't have right-click enabled in your Mouse Settings, you can press control-click and get the popup menu.

  • How do I capture good stills from video on Photoshop Elements 8?

I'm using Photoshop Elements 8.  When I try to capture still photos from video clips, the results are not very satisfactory.  Usually the stills are very unclear, not sharp like I want them to be.  I have to make many attempts to capture a still before  I can get one that's halfway clear.   Does it have to be this way?   What can I do to get consistently clear stills from video?  Thank you!

    Fair enough, Barbara.  Thanks!

Frame from Video is  more or less a legacy feature in PSE 8. It was meant to capture a frame or two from a short homemade video at a low resolution. It doesn't do HD video at all, and isn't meant for a clip that's more than a minute or so in length. It's been dropped from the latest version because nobody has those kinds of movies anymore.
So the bottom line is you're better off doing this with some other program than with PSE.

  • How to Make a Still from Video and Burning a DVD

    Hello All,
I am using FCP HD and I would like to know how do you make a still photo from video footage?
Also I have to burn an editing project to dvd. I don't know how to use studio pro, but the person said that it needs to be a ntsc full resolution version. I am not sure what that means.
The project is about 10 minutes long and this person had me using the H.264. I have been playing around and I think I not doing something write because when I send the project to compressor it tells me that I have like 200+ hours befoe it outputs.
Could someone give me some simple instructions using the H.264 on how to do a good large size (over 320x240) QT movie to dvd?
    THANKS...

To export a still park the playhead on the image you want, mark IN OUT, go to FILE>EXPORT>QUICKTIME CONVERSION. Click on QUICKTIME MOVIE and In the dropdown choose STILL IMAGE.
You will have to De-Interlace it in Photoshop after you export.
    As for making the DVD:
    Shane's Stock Answer #3:
To export your DV project so there is no loss in quality, simply go to the File Menu and select EXPORT>QUICKTIME MOVIE. Not Quicktime Conversion, fot this will compress the footage. Make sure the settings match your timeline settings, make it self contained and you are set.
Import this into iDVD or DVDSP and burn your DVD. Don't go the h.264 route.

  • Trouble Pulling Stills From Video

Hi everyone, I am new to these forums and I have been using iMovie 09 for about a year with almost no problems. I am encountering one now though and I was wondering if anyone could help me.
I have a project made up of stills that I have pulled from video clips. I have done this many times just by adding a still frame to the video and then choosing the reveal in finder option from the right click menu. This has always worked for me and I have been able to move/ copy/ paste theses files from the finder.
However, now I have about 70 pictures in the one project I made and when i do reveal in finder, not all of them are there. There are certain pictures that I can not see in the finder but I can in my imovie project. I was wondering why this is or how I can export these still pictures so that i can use them to say post to facebook or something. If it makes a difference I have deleted the original video clip from imovie but there are plenty of pictures in there that i have done the same for and they still reveal in the finder. If anyone could help me get these still frames to a file outside of IMovie it would greatly appreciated.
    Thank You!

  • IMovie 11 does not allow the capture of a still from video

I am really ticked off. I just upgraded to iMovie 11 and couldn't capture a still from my video. I called support to see what I needed to do and was told that THIS FEATURE IS NOT ON iMovie 11.
    ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!
How could such a basic feature be eliminated? Of course now I can make movie trailers, a cool feature, but...

Oh yes, as AppleMan1958 wrote, it IS a good workaraound to get jpg (or tiff...) stills from Imovie 11: If you make freeze frames and export the project via Quicktime with the option "Image sequence", you can choose in the options if you want jpg's or tiff's or...
If you set the duration of the freeze frames to 0.1 s before the export (you can choose all and set the duration for all at the same time), you only get two or three stills by freeze frame.

  • Moving stills from video to iPhoto

I have been using iMovie 6.0.3 and captured some stills from my vidoe and was able to drag them into the movie introduction. Now I would like to use the same stills in my Web Gallery page, but I cannot drag or import them into iPhoto. The files are called e.g. Still 01.dv and iPhoto does not recognize these files. What can I do? Thanks in advance.
    Geraldine

    Geraldine,
Confusing though it may be, a *Still Frame* is a movie file and not an image file. What you want to do is select the still in iMovie and do File > *Save Frame* (or type Command F). You can then choose jpeg for your file type, set the name, and save to your Desktop. Once on the Desktop, you can import into iPhoto, then delete the Desktop copy. (You can't save directly into the iPhoto Library folder, because iPhoto has to import it.)
    Bottom line: use +Save Frame+, NOT +Create Still Frame+.
    Regards.

  • How do you grab a still from video

I'm trying to get a picture from a frame of video. What is the method

    sponsoredbydad wrote:
Then how would one get the full resolution from the go pro vid it came from? Is that something that can be done out of FC10
You can share a still image out of the viewer, can you not? If you're shooting 4k on the go pro and working in a 1080 timeline, the video is either being scaled or cropped to fit the timeline. If you export form the timeline, you're going to get the timeline's image, not the original. If you're editing a 4k timeline with 4k video, you get a 4k still image. If you're editing a 4k timeline from 1080 video you get a terrible upscaled image.

  • Extracting Stills from Video in PS CS6

Hi there, just wondering how you extract a still frame from a video file in Photoshop CS6.
    Thanks in advance, Will.

Select all, copy&paste or simply save a copy to a "flat" image format that discards the video and only exports the currently visible set of pixels like JPEG; TIFF, PNG or whatever.

  • Saving stills from video

In my project I would like a short slide show at the end with music, 10-12 stills. This will consist of shots from the actual vidoe shot, but not all of it used as footage in the project. Is it better to save it as a jpeg (or other picture format) or as a freeze frame. Will it make ant difference, rendering, size of project, resolution etc.. I tried to save it as jpeg and it seemed to come out blurry, I guess that is where de-interlacing comes in? thanks

Yup, you definitely want to apply the deinterlace format on the still no matter how you save it
If you are just going to use the stills within your project and not export them separately, I would use Freeze Frame, as that maintains your sequences frame rate, etc.
You can create the freeze frames in the timeline and drag them into the Browser for organizational purposes if need be
Mind you, DV video is not the highest resolution in the world; the stills will never look as good as high end digital photo images but they should match the rest of your video

  • Batchexporting Stills from Video in PS CS6

I'm trying to figure out how to export stills at separate points in a video, exporting 1 still with 15 seconds of space between them throughout the whole video file.
What I'm trying to do is to export hundreds of images from a movie but with some space between them.
I tried creating a batch that jumps ahead in the timeline 15 sec, but I cannot figure out how to export a frame at that point and then continue jumping forward 15 sec to do the same again. I want this to automate throughout an entire feature film.

I have found a clip and think have got it working. A Film/clip needs to be in Photoshop.
    #target photoshop

  • Capture still from video

Please, how can I capture a still image from a video with Quick Time Pro?
    Thanks

You don't even need the Pro upgrade to "borrow" an image from any QuickTime file format you can view in the free Player.
Open the video and position the playhead to the frame you wish to use and Copy (File menu).
    Bonus tips:
Resize the Player window and you'll get a larger, or smaller, file.
The right/left arrow keys can "step through" playback so you get just the right image.
Mac users can use the Get Info window to make a custom icon for that same QuickTime file.
Open any image editing app and "paste" your copy to use it anywhere on your PC.

  • Exporting Stills from video

I have created several still clips from a video project but I can't seem to transfer the stills to iPhoto by selecting all, naming the file and saving the file in jpg. I have tried both ways (importing from iPhoto and exporting from iMovie) but when I export the file from iMovie to iPhoto it does not appear in the library. ??? When i click and drag a single pic to the desk top it still has the .div extension
attached. I have to remove the attachment and change it to jpg in order to drag it into iPhoto.
    Thanks

select frame by positioning the playhead in iMovie
then hit -F (as Freeze, or Frame)
now, you should see a pic-file on your desktop, which you should be able to drag'n drop/import into iPhoto...
my guess is, you've selected a clip (=video, not still), and did choose motion-jpeg as export option... THAT is not compatible with iPhoto...

  • Problems exporting stills from video

ok so i have never had good luck exporting a still image from FCP. they always come out blurry. any tips would be awesome!

Pick a frame that has as little movement as possible. You may need to deinterlace in Photoshop. Keep in mind that if you're working with SD video, the resolution is pretty low compared to normal photographs.

  • Create stills from video in iMovie 11?

It seems that the ability to create stills has been removed from iMovie 11. What gives? Why would this useful feature be removed? And, is it possible to revert back to iMovie 09?

Are you kidding me? iMovie 11 doesn't allow this??
The more I work with this machine and apple software, the less I like it.
Seriously, I have to go to third party software to accomplish this once simple task?
