Still generating previews even if I turned the feature off

Hi,
I turned off generating previews in preferences, but Aperture 1.5 still generates previews when I open a project, taking a massive amount of time to do so in the process. I would like to know how to avoid this in order to make Aperture fly.

I have used ACR since the beginning, and I find that
the curve tool is an excellent in letting me control
the top of the luminance part of the image that
sometimes is over-exposed.
Is there a way of gaining control of just the top of
the luminance part of an image?
Go to Levels (in Aperture), select the Luminance graph to change,
Turn on Quarter-tone controls (small cross-hatch button in the top right of the panel).
Hold down Option, and drag middle adjustment arrow over to the right.
Now use the rightmost quarter-tone control (line with top and bottom arrows) to adjust highlights - the changes will not extend beyond where you leave the center line.
That is the beauty of the Aperture Levels tool, that you can make limited changes at the ends of the histogram without a whole bunch of control points to lock down the curve.
Also note that after you change the luminance Levels, you can continue to change any of the color channel Levels independently.

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as NEW.
If the basic troubleshooting steps don't work, then you'll need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation and probable replacement.

Try closing iTunes and reset your iPad. After the iPad starts up, try the download again.
To close an app, drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the iTunes app then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Try to reset the device by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again.

HT201274 I went to General Reset Erase All Content & Settings - and now nothing works. I tried the advice on this forum, i.e., turn the phone off, connect to the white apple cable while pressing the home key. Still not working. What do I do?

After i dod the above my ipone still does not work. It seems like all settings are gone. I tried the advice on one of the forums here which was turn the phone off, connect to the cable to the computer and not the phone, press the home button continously and connect the cable. Itunes at this point identified the phone and prompted to restore settings. It seemed to be doing something but now once I tried turning it on, its still not working.

Reset the SMC and PRAM, if the issue continues then you likely have a failing GPU (hardware) that requires repair. To be sure take it in and have it professionally assessed.

HP LaserJet P1102w will only print wirelessly if I turn the printer off and on again

I have 2 Laserjet P1102w that work fine printing through USB. However, I was hoping this printer could become the standard wireless printer for individual users in the office. I have setup 2 different printers wirelessly with their own static, reserved IP addresses and they are connected to our wireless access point (WPA). We have all laptops that are connected to the network via the same access point as well as through hard wired ethernet. In all cases, they are on the same subnet.
Once I connect any laptop to one of these printers wirelessly through either the "smart install" client or the latest regular installation exe off of HP's site, it will print fine initially. However, whenever I undock the laptop or even just wait a few hours, the connection will be lost and I cannot print. The queue just says "Error - Printing" when I print sometihng. No errors in the logs. The connection will come back if I turn off the printer and turn it back on. This is very annoying and will probably not be acceptable to the users.
So I wanted to do more testing and connected both printers to my laptop wirelessly and made sure they could print successfully. I opened 2 command windows and ran a ping -t on each IP address to see at what point the connection dies. The ping will reply until I undock and go from hard wired / wireless to just wireless.. then it will say "Destination unreachable" and I can't even access the web interface. Even if I redock to hard wired / wireless, I still can't print unless I restart the printer.
This happens on 2 different laptops with 2 different p1102w printers. Any clue as to what's going on here and how I can fix it?

If I have both wireless and nic enabled, once I undock the laptop, the ping -t changes from replying to the ip of the printer, to replying to the address of the wireless adapter with "Destination host unreachable".
For example:
IP of printer: 192.168.2.95
IP of wireless adapter on laptop: 192.168.2.25
ping 192.168.5.95
Reply from 192.168.2.95
Reply from 192.168.2.95
*undock"

This does not happen if I disabled the nic and run only off the wireless card. So the workarounds are to either turn the printer off and back on if I undock every time, or disabled the nic.
At this point, I just want to understand why it is like this?

Mowaffaq, you may want to determine whether you are making those changes in the master printing preferences (versus the adjusting the session printing preferences from within your application).
Click "Start", click "Printers and Faxes" (or "Devices and Printers"), right-click your printer, and select "Printing Preferences". On the "Paper/Quality" tab, you should be able to specify A4 as your default paper for all future print jobs.

Iphone 5 not charging but will power on if you turn the phone off

Hi, for a couple of weeks now the connection on my iPhone 5 has been bad when trying to charge. It would constantly connect and then disconnect straight away until you got it into a very still position where the cable or the phone would not be touched. Now the phone has stopped charging altogether. I have checked the charging port to see if there is any lint but there is none in there. The strange thing is that if you turn the phone off, and then plug the cable into the phone it recognises it and then will turn on. Anyone else had this problem or know of a way to sort it? I have got a genius bar appointment in the next couple of days but will have to go without a phone until then, and it is also out of warranty so I assume apple will try to make me pay for it if it needs fixing.

Just incase anyone else is having similar issues, I took the phone into the apple store today and the guy said that it wasn't the charging port, the battery is operating fine but something was going wrong, wouldn't tell me what just asked I paid £210 for a replacement phone. Took down to a local gadget repair shop and they sorted it out for £25 as it was the charging port that was broke now phone is working fine again. I get the impression that apple must have known it was a charging port problem because the other place which isn't even an apple shop found it in a matter of minutes. Shame that apple have to be so greedy sometimes because in the past they have been excellent for me.

IN your Settings (swipe down from the top bezel on the homescreen) > Network Connections> Mobile Network > your carrier > you can turn off data services and still retain WiFi data transmission.
However, as stated above, if WiFi is connected, it will always be the preferred data pipe even if the mobile network data is ON.

the iphone never really picked up wi fi when it was used as a phone and it didnt really matter because he had unlimited internet but it still wont go on wi fi. does any one know why it is doing this?
The iphone works fine other wise i just really want it to go on wi fi. We just got new wi fi too and all of our other apple products go on the wi fi just fine. I dont know if its because its newer or what but my brothers 1st gen ipod goes on wi fi just fine.
